xty2cool: This guy above me is not sincere to himself. Am not APC but am no doubt Fashola fans. The honest is that he disappointed me yesterday. I was thinking he will prove critics wrong but unfortunately he did not. The burden of proof is not on the former governor to prove his critics wrong, it is on the critics to set forth with their facts which they are yet to do. The former governor rightfully asserted that such matters are resolved in courts of law where facts and tabled for adjudications, not on the pages of newspapers or the internet. So, where are the critics with their facts? Are they expecting BRF to probe himself, prosecute and jail himself? That's for the critics and the courts to decide so they are free to do just that when they are ready with their facts. My conclusion after yesterday was that,
1. My dear Fashola is not as spotless as l think. 2. You never can trust politicians absolutely, they all have stained hands. 3. He awarded the contract on Loyalty ground. Remember his comment on Loyalty
But I still love him bcs l know he can deliver anytime. He doesn't award contracts, other state institutions are responsible for all that and the state legislature constitutionally created the institutions with oversight and financial/budgetary authority on the institutions so it is up to the legislature to question, probe or sanction the institutions at any wrongdoing. In a democracy, it's called separation of powers. BRF lectured the Nigerian senate and Nigerians in general about governance and democracy, but sounds like you did not get that lecture.. |

homesteady: We know It is not Fashola's work to do surveys, but doesn't common sense tell anyone that a N78 million website is extremely costly? ...but you common sense just failed you since this is not just about one website. The contract called for not just the website, but multiple websites, maintaining and uploading thousands of photos and videos on multiple media platforms and lifetime maintenance. Now, for you to openly assert that this cost too much, don't you first have to give us your own idea of the normal going rate/price to do everything the contract demanded and also how much you charge for man hours to maintain these websites for life or for the rest of your life since lifetime maintenance remains part of the contract. Acting as if you have common sense is one thing, but actually displaying that common sense is another thing entirely.. |

sameolg616: its funny ow nigerians talk like illiterates atimes...before making an allegation, they should get facts and let the appropriate professionals assess it...the terms and conditions to it..there are many ways to actually make money without actually inflating it when there are many clauses on the contract that may never be activated but has been paid for eg...would i have the time to constantly come and assign roles to your new staff when i would have empowered a senior staff as an equal "administrator"?or be going into all the ministries manually to collect cummulative dat when i can easily schedule a competent software to do the task and send to me via the internet or even ask my own staff to go there on a monthly, quartely period to collect the data... in other terms, the website may even be serviced by a foreign company which in turn is handled by a middleman who acts as an agency they should gather or request all these facts before they make allegations... im not ruling out the fact that it was loaded but lets see the terms and conditions of such contract first... It's like saying since we both have same year model Toyota Camry, we must have paid the same amount when in fact the most logical thing to do is to first ascertain what extra details, warranty, acquaintance plans and other options I spent extra money on when buying mine. Bottom line, making such allegations without facts stating exactly what was order and the general scope of the contract was thoughtless, ignorant and irresponsible... |

You re not the only one, the average Nigerian is that way: just pass by a newspaper stand and see people insult themselves in the name of argument. Qualifying people's actions and utterances is not insult. When you steal, they call you a thief. When you rape, they call you a rapist and you make dumb and ignorant statements, you get called dumb and ignorant. |

sameolg616: very correct...besides he being articulate and intelligent....he had all the time in the world to prepare for the expected question without getting indicted..it reminds me of when clinton was being interrogated publicly over the monica case..no matter ow hard the question was,he never admitted directly to anyin or gave details more than necessary..he kept using the words "inappropriate act'.. i dont know what people were expecting to hear....he is a lawyer and not a web designer....i equally make presentations to individuals and companies on pos database models..on the surface, the basics looks quite affordable but the whole package ;which are optional(cummulative backups, maintainance, offsite backups, integration into websites, cost of softwares, advisory and disaster recovery policies, continous training and assignin new roles to people)over a period of time(and not talking of a whole state but a company now)can spell a few hundred of thousands more... i never liked web design and it sounds so cheaper cuz that is even ow the public perceives it cuz they see banner read get ur website+domain+?? for 5000...so its normal they think 75million is too much..but the extreme web designer knows better.....let say he mentioned that they created a database or program(as in a more complex computer word)...then this debate wld av died a long time ago Besides, the vendor asserted that the contract demanded multiple websites including the yearly Lagos count down website, uploading and maintaining thousands of videos and photos on multiple media platforms and maintenance is lifetime maintenance. The noisemakers should just go and tell us or quantify financially what they charge per man hour to do the same job for forever... This really sounds like a very good deal to me... |

Esdb3: You are compounding the problem for fashola with your stupidity. So if fashola and the commissioner didn't sign 'cheques' (yes cheques not checks) and 70million naira left the state account, what does that say of his administration?
Half-baked graduate. You think english is just using 'big abusive words'? BRF.SAN basically schooled you everything you and other ignorant village illiterates like you don't know about governance, institutional responsibilities and separation of powers in a democratic settings. There are state institutions constitutionally mandated to deal with such matters and in case of any odious issues , it is up to the legislature to demand the appearance of the heads of the institutions responsible for the transactions to explain their actions and spending because they have the oversight authority constitutionally to deal with such issues. Fashola as the governor doesn't procure or set prices, this is the constitutional responsibility of stated institutions. If for whatever reason something smells bad, it is up to the legislature to institute a probe and issue sanctions. Thank fashola for the lecture and quit rambling on the internet. |
