Politics › Re: Opinion: Why Is Lagos Light Rail Project Costlier Than That Of Ethiopia? by aresa: 1:08am On Jun 09, 2016
kinibigdeal:
Lagos Light Rail Line is too costly compare to a similar project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia .

Please see below :

Addis Ababa Light Rail Project,Span : 34Km. Cost : $475m
number of Stations : 39
Project Tenure : 2011 - 2015

Status : The project is already completed and running effectively .

Lagos Light Rail project

Span : 27km
Cost : $1.2Bn
number of Stations : 13
project Tenure : 2010 till date
Status : not completed

Is the new 4th mainland bridge worth the cost?
Lagos Metro Rail Project goes beyond what you listed and the project is not limited to metro rail.

Ethiopia's rail project is just a rail project

Lagos state metro includes 27km metro rail with multiple lines

54 km 10 lane expressway

BRT access

Stations

Overhead bridges

Rail bridge across the Lagos Lagoon

Power station

I articulated that while other people are moving forward progressing and moving forward, they are busy with bigotry, tribalism and anti social behavior.

They, including you have nothing good to say about the North and Northerners so why should they bend over to invest in your restless and violent non business friendly region.?

Are the leaders in the SE even interested in any kind of investment by outsiders in their region?

Other states encourage investments, woo investors, organizer trade suits, but when was the last time any state in the SE organized Investment Summit to show the outside world what they have to offer?

Investors care less about tribe, all they care about is return on investment and if the environment is not conducive to accommodate their investment, they wont invest..period.

Btw, you are not Yoruba, you are ibo and a damn bigot hence our guilty conscience response.

Below is your rubbish and hatred against the North and Northerners.

You hate northerners so much, but you still want them to invest in your region.

Progress and development is not their thing unfortunately for them, they are more interested in bigotry, hate and bitterness.

Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has commenced the construction of concrete roads in Lagos, Bauchi, Kogi and Kaduna States, beginning with the Itori-Ibese concrete road in Ogun State.

The 24 kilometre Itori-Ibese concrete road, which construction was flagged off at the weekend, in Ogun, would be constructed by AG-Dangote Construction Limited, its joint venture company, with Andrade Gutierrez (AG), the leading construction company in Brazil, and would be the longest stretch of concrete road when completed.

Speaking at the event, the president/chief executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, said the decision to introduce cement concrete roads in Nigeria, was in line with what obtains in other parts of the world.

He noted that concrete had always made the most sense in the long run as no other paving material approaches concrete's strength and durability in standing up to heavy usage and truck traffic, saying that one of the major infrastructural challenges is the lack of good quality roads.

"Obviously, this calls for a review of our existing method of building roads in Nigeria. Roads play an important role in the social and economic development of any nation," he said.

According to Dangote, some state governments were already beginning to take more interest in concrete roads, announcing, "In another CSR initiative, we are reconstructing the Ijora-Apapa Wharf Road in Lagos State, using cement concrete and within the next 18 months, we expect to complete the project and bring succor to Lagosians.

"We have also recently been finally awarded the contract to reconstruct the 42 km Obajana-Kabba Road in Kogi State, in concrete. The estimated cost of the project is N11.5 billion but the federal government has granted us a tax waiver to enable us to recoup part of the estimated cost at N5.6 billion in tax credits and the balance will be our donation as part of our CSR," he added

There is no hypocrisy there. It is a political problem. Has BMB come out to tell you he does not support the agitation of his people?
If the Nigerian wished to call him out on that point he should have done so politely and directly. Trying to project disapproval or censorship of a lifestyle he disagrees with onto another political matter is offensive to me.We do not subscribe to Sharia ideas of public conduct.
A simple;
Mr Bruce what are you doing about the Niger Delta crisis" would have been more civilized[/b]
Yet, the same man you are defending doesn't offer the same politeness with his thoughtless and mindless criticisms and twitter rants labeled common sense.

If it was PMB or any notable opposition member having a good time in a foreign country, dinning at a foreign restaurant and or instead of Nigerian restaurant, the last thing in his mouth won't be politeness.

Whatever the man opined doesn't have anything to do with lifestyle, it was about him having a good time in a foreign country while his own constituency burn and crippled with serious economic and national implications.

Responsible leaders are always on the ground intervening, engaging in dialogue and finding solutions to pressing issues affecting their people, constituency and country.

How do you as a sane, credible and rational leader sit on twitter in one breath attack other other Nigerians for inactions and not patronizing Nigerian and not keeping everything in Naija as he says. Unfortunately for Nigeria and Nigerians, this man is an hypocrite and is grossly guilty of the same thing he attacks other people with.

While he shouts keeping it in Naija, he's never made any attempt to keep anything that has to do with him in Naija.

Nearly all the movies at his theaters are not Naija

He sent his children and money to schools/UNI in Los Angeles instead of Naija/OAU/UNIBEN/UNN and so on.

His so called pointless book was not printed in NAIJA, it was printed in the US even though our own Shomolu in Nigeria is the printing Capital of West Africa.

After 8 years plus as a public official and head of the NTA, he has no single achievement and in fact, he ran it to the ground.

As a senator, he spends all his time on twitter insulting Nigerians with his dumb common sense rubbish instead of fighting for Nigerians and his constituency on the senate floor.

His constituency is in the middle of a a National crisis with serious and destructive implications, but he's not anywhere close to his people, constituency and not even in Nigeria, he's in a foreign country having a good time and dinning in a foreign restaurant instead of buying Naija like he preaches..

The man is an egotistical clown and hypocrite with a thin skin who knows how to attack Nigerians with his twitter garbage, but can not take the same criticisms from Nigerians.

He's nothing but a missed opportunity, waste and a lousy representative.

SS and SE are too volatile for any sane and serious investor to sink their money in hence lack of any serious investments in both that region.

Shouting biafra, deadly agitations and demonstrations everyday is CAPITAL no to investors, it means insecurity and uncertainty and this is the invisible noose the SE keeps hanging on it's neck same in the SS with their endless violence, kidnappings, vandalism and destruction of investments and installations..

Dangote not investing $14 billion refinery in that region was sane, rational and prudent, they have $4 billion worth of refinery equipments on the ground as we speak, so we know if this was in the SS or SE right now, that $4 billion worth of equipment and the dream of this refinery totally solving our fuel problems in less than 2 years is up in flame and totally destroy by the same restless, misguided and destructive elements.

The Avengers, massob, ipod, ipobs and other thoughtless and misguided elements are not punishing Nigerians or Nigeria or Nigeria as a country, they are punishing themselves and their future generations.

No one is excusing away distortions, what one is emphasising on is the ploy to turn this from an unfortunate tragedy perpetuated by a bunch of irredeemable fellows to an attack against those who are canvassing for justice ,irrespective of the manner in which she died...

Where do you stand , Bigotry or Justice ??
You know where I stand especially if you've been reading my posts. I want justice for the woman and her living husband and I totally condemn the senseless killing, but that doesn't mean I should look the other way and be less concerned about other bigots preying on unsuspecting Nigerians to fan hatred, bigotry and violence.

Her death obviously was a tragedy perpetrated by criminals who should be brought to justice, but this shouldn't be an excuse for other bigots to use this tragedy to incite, flame hatred and promote the same kind of violence that killed this woman in the first place.

Where is the sense and wisdom in demanding justice in one breath and trying to sweep another under the rug in another breath when if fact they are both dangerous.?

Actually it does not matter, what matters is that the pattern of intolerance shown by the bigoted r.etards , continues unabated , and people are getting killed based on hearsay rumours, with no proof or justice. Obviously it is done in the name of religion by deluded fellows who think they can appease God by shedding the blood of innocents.

In fact it is easier and almost painless to die by beheading than by being clubbed to death by a gang of raving lunatics.
Excusing away lies, distortions and misleading tales by another group of bigots is another tragedy.

Inciting hatred, rage and violence by another set of bigots is equally dangerous.
