Truthisunique3:Quote me right, pls. I talked abt primary election not Chairmanship election. I made that statement days after he chose Adamu. He chose Adamu because the party failed to do the right thing. However, for Buhari to finger point APC flag bearer will be the most surprising thing to me and disastrous to APC which will consequently lead to the death of the party. He can't take that risk! |
Truthisunique3:Delegates vote not party Chairman. After all ur delusional guessing on CPC bloc chairman u have finally find another route to call Adamu Amaechi ally? Get it right, Buhari has surprised u with unexpected choice, so stop this Amaechi game. |
Truthisunique3:I'm talking abt PDP not APC. When u talk abt General elections then I can categorically say Tinubu will win because the way SW voted for PMB with at least 35-65% votes will be replicated and overall votes will give our darling candidate Tinubu way to Aso Rock. |
Governors who are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Wednesday aligned with President Muhammadu Buhari on the candidature of a former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the chairman of the ruling party, Daily Trust gathered last night. Daily Trust had exclusively reported on February 24 the endorsement of Adamu by President Buhari during his meeting with the governors. The endorsement of Adamu, 76, raised dust in the ruling party. However, at the end of the governor’s meeting with the president yesterday at the State House, Abuja, the issue was finally resolved. The meeting convened ahead of the Saturday’s convention of the APC was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and 16 governors from Kebbi, Plateau, Kogi, Yobe, Ogun, Kaduna, Ekiti, Ebonyi, Imo, Niger, Jigawa, Kwara, Zamfara, Nasarawa, Osun, and Borno States. The ruling party has 22 governors. Seven persons including a former Governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura; Senator Sani Musa (Niger) a former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari; Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume (Benue); Senator Abdullahi Adamu; Turaki Ilorin, Saliu Mustapha and Saidu Etsu have bought forms for the national chairmanship position. A governor from the North West told Daily Trust that there was no objection when the endorsement of Adamu was raised. He said the issue of the national secretary was also resolved. A top source, while corroborating the governor’s statement, said during the villa meeting, the governors aligned themselves with President Buhari’s position on Adamu. “They aligned with the president’s position on Adamu as the national chairman while all other positions are as per the zoning earlier approved by the president,” the source said. It was gathered that the governors are putting finishing touches on the unity list of other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) in line with the earlier zoning arrangement approved by the president during his previous meeting with them. We have no objection – Govs Briefing journalists after the meeting yesterday, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu, said a truce has been reached to fill the NWC positions through consensus. He said the PGF was in support of the chairmanship candidate being backed by President Buhari although he refused to name the candidate. He said: “Today, we all briefed Mr President on the issue of distributing political party offices to the respective zones and our support for Mr President’s endorsement of the candidate for the national chairman of the party and the various geo-political zones took turns to brief Mr President, on what they have been doing to generate consensus in their respective zones amongst the National Working Committee (NWC) and zonal party positions that have been either allocated to the zones or which the zones are entitled to. “Most of the zones have been allocated NWC positions that are fewer than the number of states, but, however, there are zonal executive committees from which the zones are working to produce a consensus list. “So, this afternoon, the respective zones; Governor Abubakar Bello briefed on behalf of the North Central; Governor Babagana Zulum on behalf of the North East; Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State on behalf of North West; Governor Dave Umahi on behalf of South East; and Governor Kayode Fayemi briefed the President on behalf of the South West. I further mentioned the position of the South South to Mr President, as I had on paper.” Bagudu, however, said that aspirants who opposed the consensus option were free to run at the coming convention. He said APC as a democratic party will not bar anybody from exercising their rights. President gives govs 24 hours to finalise unity list The president also Wednesday gave the governors 24 hours to finalise works on the consensus list. The president in his speech during the meeting obtained by the paper said they must restore sanity and purpose in the affairs of the party and lead themselves to victory and safety. “As I remarked when I met Your Excellencies on February 22nd, our aim must be to hand over to an APC government at the centre and the great majority of states. We must not, by default allow the PDP to get its dirty hands on government again and return us to the Stone Age. “As I said at that meeting, our party chose its leadership by consensus. I again plead that we choose our next leadership by consensus. This is consistent with the spirit of democracy, the party’s constitution and the Nigerian constitution. “With the convention only two days away, I implore you to come together and sort out all the remaining party positions so that within the next 24 hours we can arrive at a Unity List, which we can take to the convention,” he said. He directed that all those who bought forms that have been affected by the consensus arrangement should have their money refunded without delay. Buhari meets chairmanship aspirants President Buhari last night met with all the national chairmanship aspirants of APC during which he told them to support Senator Abdullahi Adamu. In attendance at the meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja were his Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, Secretary to the Government of Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, and Chairman of the APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni. The national chairmanship aspirants at the meeting included Senator Adamu, Senator George Akume, Senator Tanko Al-makura, Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, Mohammed Saidu Estu, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, ex- Governor Addulaziz Yari Abubakar and Saliu Mustapha. Daily Trust learnt from credible sources that the President used the opportunity to inform the aspirants of the need to embrace consensus option to avoid rancour in the party. “He said that Senator Abdullahi Adamu is his preferred choice for the chairmanship position and urged them to support him. He advised them to remain united so that the APC will get stronger ahead of the general elections,” one of the sources said. “The aspirants accepted the choice of the president and exchanged banters. They had dinner with the president and he advised them that if they have any issue, they should discuss it with his chief of staff. “Of course, two of them said they wished the president’s interaction with them was organised earlier than now but that notwithstanding, they wished the former Nasarawa governor well,” he said. How I’ll strengthen our party – Adamu Meanwhile, Senator Adamu had earlier in the day disclosed how he would strengthen the party and lead it to victory if he emerges as the chairman. Speaking to journalists in Abuja, he said chairing the party’s reconciliation committee has given him an insight on how best to address the challenges bedevilling the party. He debunked the claim that he was no longer in the race for the party chairman, stating that it was a desperate propaganda by some people to edge him out. We’ll abide by decisions taken by stakeholders – Mustapha One of the frontline aspirants for the national chairmanship position, Malam Saliu Mustapha, has said that he would abide by the decision of the leadership and stakeholders of the party. A statement issued last night by the Head Media, Saliu Mustapha Campaign Organisation, Dapo Okubanjo said as a core party man who subscribes to the principles of loyalty, he will abide by any decision taken by the leadership and stakeholders in the interest of everyone in the party. “As a candidate, we have done our best to canvass for support from everyone we consider important within the party fold, particularly the delegates. “So whether the leadership and stakeholders decide to adopt consensus or an elective convention, we believe that our candidate remains in pole position because he ticks all the right boxes as the best man to lead APC into the next election cycle in 2023,” he said. https://dailytrust.com/apc-chairmanship-governors-bow-to-buhari-agree-on-adamu |

Godismighty:Honestly this write up destroyed more than 80% of Osinbajo's popular support among Northern voters, the article is being interpreted in Hausa and is widely circulating. He aspersed Buhari, Pantami and lately Tinubu. Many agreed with him, therefore I can't see reason why others won't share the same opinion with him abt this. |
Malory:I strongly agree with item 2, 3 & 6. If u accept what media told u abt Buhari prior to 2015 and 2019 elections then u should dogmatically also agree with Kperogi. Buhari has nothing to do with religious activities nor do anything religious beside Islamic injunctions but some ppl who are hell bent on spoiling others names aspersed all sort of bad things on his name for just being Muslim Northerner so that Nigerian Christians will avoid voting for him. I still can't understand what is religious abt PMB? If haters can go to some extent and tagged Buhari Boko Haram, terrorist, bigot despite having no any religious affiliation or devout concern to Islam then why can't also people from other side quickly believe Pastor can have the alleged attributes because he is a Pastor (devoted Christian)? Now, it is ur time/turn to taste the bitterness of hate speeches, smear campaigns, propaganda and fake news. I hope Yoruba man wins next election so that the whole world will know that it is losers who spread falsehood about leaders who don't go well with their agenda. This is just the beginning. You will soon get ur eyes clear! How can someone agree with Kperogi's aspersions on Buhari, Dr. Pantami, Tinubu and now reject his assertions on Osinbajo? We should collectively agree that bloggers, media houses and individuals have fooled many of us or to just dogmatically accept all their opinions including bad ones against those we support! |
Tomek09:Shey u sing and dance everyday too? |
aribisala0:Forget that nonsense votes of 2011 when results used to be published in the mid of elections. What matters much when it comes to deciding who get ticket during primary elections is what I was talking abt not the decision made for u by few people ahead of election which u have no choice than to accept. Therefore, in this case north get the nod and the number. |

horsepower102:There are more than 40k soldiers on operation across the North with more than 30k in NE and about 10k in the other zones. If the heavy weapons being used in NE will be deployed to ur region now everyone in the world will hear it. When officers from the south are deployed to NE they are taken by surprise with the kind of heavy weapons they see. The weapons they see on TVs and newspapers are exposed to them. These conspiracy theories should be stopped. Always crying for the mayhem u created over the hatred of one single person and his faith. |
seunmsg:Your analysis is based on emotion not reality. Just like u, North will vote for Northerner than someone outside the region. Any candidate of PDP from the South will lose before 12pm and also any candidate beside Atiku from the North can't win against APC. I wish PDP will choose Southern candidate and see the reality. Politics is a game of number, the ticket of PDP should be open to everyone. There was no true democracy between 2003-2011. |
eagleu:Man, everyone has moved on and there has never been religious tension in kano for the past one decade but we recently witnessed it an Eastern state which led to the death of many traders. The killings continued since Endsars protest which led to the arson and killing of traders and burning of religious places. Some have moved on while others are doing theirs now! Wake up to the current reality and stop telling me the event that took place abt 30yrs back. |

The recent article written by Farouq Kperogi on Osinbajo's alleged religious bigotry has taken serious momentum in the North. Prior to the release of the article by Kperogi, most Northerners have so much faith in Prof. Osinbajo and they see him as a perfect candidate in APC to succeed President Buhari. On our return to democracy in 1999, it is obvious that Northern votes played vital role in making Obasanjo becoming President who was Yoruba and a Christian. However, a lot of things started changing when some religious leaders perceived unbalanced religious treatment from Obasanjo which paved way for religious interference in Nigeria's polity. The pressure heightened after the death of Yar'adua and many Muslims leaders pushed for Muslim candidate but the emergence of Jonathan in 2011 put more pressure in the polity coupled with Boko Haram insurgency which many Muslims were made to believe that PDP was Boko Haram especially when the then National Security Adviser of Jonathan and former Chief of Army staff of Obasanjo, Gen. Andrew Azazi publicly confessed it and later died in helicopter crash which was perceived as an alleged assassination and further fueled the doubts people had about the Boko Haram conspiracy. In 2015, Northerners came out all for Muslim candidate from North thinking that it will bring an end to the Boko Haram insurgency which eventually brought former Major General Muhammadu Buhari into power hoping that his military experience will help restore normalcy in the Boko Haram ravaged region. Unfortunately, the poor performance of Buhari especially in the area of insecurity changed the perception of most Northerners on voting based on religious backgrounds to the extent that it's difficult to sell a candidate for a Northerner based on religious reason rather than competence, that is why Vice President Osinbajo is widely accepted in the North. A Christian Osinbajo is more accepted among ordinary Northerners than Muslim Tinubu. However, the popularity of Osinbajo is being seriously jeopardised by the recent article released by Farouq Kperogi who aspersed and thrown all sort of religious bigotry and fanaticism on the good image of the Vice President. The article is being interpreted in Hausa and is widely in circulation and I suspect that it is now difficult to restore the degree of damage done on PYO. The degree of damage the so called freedom of expression has done on Nigeria and reputable Nigerians is immeasurable. Kperogi and other news media owners like Sowore has done lots of damage to people that no amount of compensation can restitute! |

I have optimism that after Tinubu nobody will talk about religion in Nigeria's polity again. Tinubu is known for exploiting competence and talents than religion which most Yorubas are known for. Let Tinubu choose who ever he thinks fit the cap and ride us to the dream land ![]() |
simpleseyi:So what do u expect? The way u are reasoning is the reason we will keep beating u all the time. We think and act differently. Irrespective of our differences, we work with a common goal. These analysts who always bring issues of Presidency and CPC must be very ashamed of their unfruitful guessings. Finally, after all sort of conspiracies Buhari has endorsed fomer PDP member, Abdullahi Adamu who was never predicted by any media house or analyst to be endorsed by PMB and he even rejected the only CPC former Governor Tanko Almakura. So we should judge current affairs by our mighty brain rather than following these amateur analysts. Where are those suspecting Badaru, Bagudu, Buni and Rufai of ganging up against Tinubu? Today, Bagudu and Badaru are left in confusion with limited choice while Rufai is left alone gasping and battling for his survival in APC. Buni is known as strong ally of Tinubu who started avoiding him since becoming party caretsker Chairman to avoid compromise. Fayemi was played by El Rufai, Bagudu and Badaru. The Buhari I very well know won't support any candidate before primary election directly or indirectly. He who work to win primary election under APC will definitely get his full support because PMB won't afford to simply let PDP come back to power again. Those in Presidency are entitled to their opinions but won't change PMB's opinion especially a this moment when he understood that all of them have personal goals not party goals ![]() |
APC Chairmanship: Sheriff Steps Down, Vows Not To Work Against Buhari A former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has shelved his ambition to be national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). This followed the zoning of the chairmanship slot to the North Central during a meeting of APC stakeholders in Aso Rock. Party insiders had told Daily Trust how President Muhammadu Buhari endorsed Senator Abdullahi Adamu at the meeting. But despite the endorsement, some other aspirants vying for the chairmanship seat refused to withdraw from the race. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, on Sunday, Sheriff said he chose to opt out of the race because it was not zoned to his region. He said, “The President has taken a position. I have always told you that I will contest if it is zoned to my zone. I respect Mr President because he is my leader. He has a reason for saying the position should be zoned to the North-Central. “I don’t want to draw a line. I don’t want to oppose the President in any way. So I will not contest unless they change their mind between now and Saturday. I won’t contest an election that is clearly zoned out of my zone.” The Borno ex-governor had earlier said that he would abide by President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision on who becomes the party’s next helmsman. Some of those who purchased the chairmanship form of the ruling party said they were not aware of Buhari’s preference for Adamu. The APC convention is scheduled for Saturday. Preparations are currently ongoing. https://dailytrust.com/apc-chairmanship-sheriff-steps-down-vows-not-to-work-against-buhari |

Here u are justifying and upholding extremism, excessive bigotry and sentiments. All ur uproar had never been abt humanity but bigotry. Fagge LG is extremely too big for Sabon Gari to have constituency. Kano isn't like ur tiny state. In Kano there are traditional titles for Yoruba's and Igbo's recognised by Govt and Kano Emirates. No Emirate in the north that do not give traditional titles to Igbo's and Yorubas. You need to know that most Yorubas, Ebira and Ighala have settled well in Kano living like any other Kano indigenes especially in Birget, Na'ibawa, Yankaba, Badawa and many other places, they're no longer living in isolating at Sabon Gari like some other people. Current Emirs of Kano and Bichi have a Yoruba mother, sister of current Emir of Illorin, first wife of former kano emir, Ado Bayero and mother of Sunusi Lamido's first wife.
