Former militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has reacted to the former defence minister, Gen. T. Y. Danjuma, who called for his arrest over his inflammatory statements at a time Nigeria needs peace ahead of the 2015 general elections. In his response, Tompolo reiterated his recent declaration that President Goodluck Jonathan must win in the February 14 presidential election for Nigeria to continue to stay united. Tompolo declared: “General Danjuma and his cohorts should know that I remain resolute on my position in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, that President Goodluck Jonathan must win this election for Nigeria to continue to stay together.” He also lashed out at Danjuma for calling for his arrest, asking where the general was when Mallam Ciroma Adamu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari and the Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi made inciting statements to make Nigeria ungovernable. He also wondered why Jonathan’s convoy was stoned in Katsina and Bauchi states while Buhari enjoyed a peaceful atmosphere when he campaigned in the Niger Delta states. Tompolo, in a statement signed by his media adviser, Comrade Paul Bebenimibo, condemned “the call by Gen. T. Y. Danjuma (rtd) to arrest me and other agitators for a better living for the people of the Niger Delta region. “Is Gen. Danjuma not aware of the peaceful atmosphere when Gen. Buhari visited Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa states for campaign? Why is it that President Jonathan’s convoy was attacked in Katsina and Bauchi states without any provocation?” Source: http://www.hotgistng.com/?p=3503 |

The multiple attacks by Boko Haram on Maiduguri, Konduga and Monguno in Borno State early in the week was a desperate and diversionary attempt to both pre-empt a massive onslaught and create avenue for escape for insurgent commanders. But the most callous aspect of the attacks was the conscription and deployment of child-soldiers, teenage-female suicide bombers and animals to frustrate troops. Senior military officers knowledgeable about military tactics and operations concerning plans to launch the “wipe off” attack on terrorists infested locations in the north east told PRNigeria that the attacks on the three towns could be a further confirmation of allegations that there were Boko Haram moles in high places. It is common knowledge that the military were preparing a comprehensive onslaught on the Boko Haram terrorists in an operation meant to rid the entire region of insurgency in time for the February general elections. According to a source, weekend’s multiple strike by the insurgents was meant to slow down or even prevent and divert the attention of the military from commencing the determined operation against them. The source added that the pattern of the attack was also common to the terrorists who embark upon such desperate and unlikely to succeed attacks just to create room for terrorists’ commanders to escape from their camps in view of impending military raids in the areas. The source said: “The increasing use of child fighters and women in their campaign of terror in the recent encounter is quite baffling. They used animals, armed children and occasional women to confront the soldiers while their commanders operate from the back and mostly in the armoured vehicles” Some residents of the affected community were also blamed for aiding and abetting the terrorists by providing information about troops’ movements and wonder how the military can succeed in the fight against terrorists when those they are supposed to be defending are the real enemies. PRNigeria gathered that the recent retreat of soldiers from Mongunu occurred following betrayal of the troops by some locals who leaked some information to the terrorists and subsequent attacks from strange locations within the community. Unfortunately, troops do not have the same leeway to operate like terrorists because they are bound to observe international rules of engagement. The source added that: “Attacks or retaliation by the military on suspected areas occupied by civilians could be tagged as human right abuse and negating international conventions on rules of engagements. “Allegations that the military failed to protect civilians despite being aware that terrorists were about to attack the towns are faulty if the evidence was that civilians were already moving from the places that were eventually attacked. “First, I want to put it to you that citizens have been moving away from the entire region in droves in the last many months since the terrorists increased their pace of attacks and it is not only from Monguno, Baga or Konduga. “These towns have been repeatedly attacked by terrorists and our men have repeatedly repelled them but how do we now begin to tell civilians to evacuate their towns because of this. Will it be to cause panic and make people think that we can no longer protect them?” Source: http://saharareporters.com/2015/01/29/attack-monguno-desperate-diversationery-military-sources

They stoop so low for doing that. Though I am not a supporter of GEJ but we should respect the office of the presidency |
* I’m not aware, says party spokesman, Metuh The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has put five of its governors under surveillance on the suspicion that they are romancing with All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, ahead of the February 14 contest. A top party official confided in New Telegraph that the governors were secretly mobilising support for Buhari to have at least 25 per cent of the total votes cast in their respective states to brighten his chances of winning the presidential election. The source listed the governors being watched as Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta), Mr. Sullivan Chime (Enugu), Chief Martin Elechi (Ebonyi), Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Mr. James Bala Ngilari (Adamawa) and Abubakar Danladi (Taraba). The source said the party leadership had doubts about the commitment of the governors, along with some other bigwigs of the party who nurse grievances following the party’s primaries, to ensure wholeheartedly work for the victory of President Goodluck Jonathan next month. It could, however, not be independently confirmed if more states are involved in the deal to ease Buhari’s victory just as PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, dismissed the alleged deal. The source said the party had in its possession ‘verifiable evidence’ that some of the PDP governors, especially those whose interests were bruised in the last primaries were “willing to give the opposition party soft landing in some states.” “On paper, we say there is no problem, but in the real sense of it, there are bottled-up anger and animosity across the various chapters of the party in the country. As a party, we are not losing sight of this and we are doing everything humanly possible to stem any slide in any state chapter of the PDP. “It is a thing that calls for worry because we have verifiable evidence and enough facts indeed that some of the PDP governors you press call aggrieved governors are already preparing ground to allow General Buhari have a leverage that can give him the required 25 per cent of total votes cast in the February 14 presidential election. “The irony is that we do know this fact but we do not in the same breath, want to confront them and rock the boat. The only thing we can do is to put them under serious surveillance as we approach the elections”, the source said. However, Metuh who claimed ignorance of such a development said no PDP governor was hobnobbing with Buhari. According to him, the reports are fabricated by APC to create confusion in the ruling party. “This is a rumour and a lie fabricated by the opposition to create confusion in our midst. All our governors are intact and fully committed to the ideals of the PDP. They have all been working against the APC and its candidate and cannot turn around to support the opposition in any form. “They are fully committed to the aspiration of the president for a second term because he has put the nation on the right track in terms of the nation’s economy and the direction of the polity. I urge you to ignore the rumour and place the APC where it belongs,” Metuh said in response to New Telegraph inquiry. Source: http://newtelegraphonline.com/five-pdp-govs-under-watch-over-buhari/ |
Chai, Water don finish for PDP pond. Their fish don dey die one by one.. The High Commissioner said he fails to see a motive for this move since erecting billboards asking Nigerians to go home and vote was not in disregard of any of Ghana's laws. “If they contravened the laws of Ghana and they are demolished, yes I would understand because I would not support lawlessness and recklessness, but if they seek [sought] permission of AMA, and they approve of it, very well and good…” he said. As the Nigerian elections warm to a climax, billboards bearing campaign messages of some major political parties in Nigeria began to emerge in the capital, prompting a debate on the legitimacy of this campaign mode. A senior fellow at the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD), Vladimir Antwi-Danso, described the phenomenon as a security threat to Ghana. The international relations expert argued that since the relationship between some former leaders in Ghana and Nigeria are not too warm, allowing the mounting of billboards could have dire consequences, not just on the international scene, but in local politics. Other personalities, including the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong. Mr. Agyapong said Ghana risks a ‘possible annexation’ by Nigeria as a result of the giant billboards being erected by the political parties. He called on the Accra Metropolitan Authority (AMA) and the National Security outfit to pull down these billboards at once. Over the weekend, operatives of the AMA who claimed to be working under instructions from the National Security authority brought down the billboards, courting the displeasure of the representative of the Nigerian government in Ghana. “…even in Britain and America, Nigerians are advertising there supporting different political parties, they have supporters in Ghana and they have to be sensitized so they know about whom to vote for…” he argued. In a related development, the Conventional People's Party has piped in calling for a stop to the demolition of the billboards. A poster calling on the government to check against xenophobia and rooting for a more united Africahas been released by the party. stebell:Then you must be out of your mind. Do you think if the country is conducive, most of us outside would not have returned home? At least 30 people have died in Bayelsa State following the outbreak of cholera there about a fortnight ago. Medical doctors in the state who are battling to contain the health crisis told SaharaReporters that the inadequate supply of potable water was one of the major reasons for the acuteness of the disease. At the Federal Medical Center in Yenagoa, the state capital, water vendors popularly called “meruwa” remain the dominant source of water supply. “Can you imagine a situation where hospital authorities have to buy water from vendors who supply water in tankers. And yet nobody knows how hygienic the vendors’ water supply is in the first place,” the doctor added. The cholera outbreak was reported two weeks ago in Sagbama and Southern Ijaw local government areas. Our sources disclosed that the situation appears to be worsening due to the poor handling of the epidemic. Of the identified death toll, eight victims were from the communities of Osiama and Ekede in Sagbama, the local government area of Governor Seriake Dickson, while twelve victims hailed from Southern Ijaw, the local council of Kombowei Benson, Speaker of the Bayelsa House of Assembly. The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Health, Ayiabatonye Owei, confirmed the cholera outbreak but declined to give figures of casualties. One of the doctors involved in the anti-cholera effort described the commissioner’s reluctance to release death figures as evidence of “insincerity of the government to deal with the epidemic.” A resident of Ekede told SaharaReporters that any ailing person who vomited and stooled a lot before dying was hurriedly buried to forestall any further infection. Several doctors urged the state and Federal governments to use their public health agencies to provide potable water to the affected communities as part of efforts to bring the outbreak under control. “Unless the relevant health agencies wake up to their responsibilities, the situation is likely to become critically worse, with more patients dying needlessly,” one doctor said. @ op, hope you are not admiring that rich man around your neighborhood? Cough!!! ![]() |
Actually, I never approach the lady but I think I admire her a lot. She is young and vibrant and she fits my type of woman. We were both living in the same hostel before, so expressing myself doesn't sound right to me. While I was still at the hostel, we used to monitor each other even though no chat but I could feel that. I caught her several times watching me swimming. I left the hostel 2 weeks to an apartment and we were unable to see each other. But I visited yesterday and saw her .She was shocked seeing me ( guess she has missed me like i miss her). Not an imagination, cos I felt the same. To me, I do not really feel comfortable approaching her directly. so I am thinking of getting her number through someone. Is that appropriate? |
My question is; How and why does a Man of God have the key to hell and not heaven... Is that his home ? A man of God that does not have the key to free our beloved Chibok girls from captivity has the key to hell... GOD HELP US! How many of the Pastors that are telling you to vote for GEJ have children who are unemployed graduates sitting at home ? Don't let any pastor tell you who to vote for. Does Oyedepo experience the effects of misgovernance? #BeWise# Did Oyedepo speak out when ASUU & ASUP were on strike twice in 4 years thereby leading to the loss of almost 2years in the academic calender. Did Bishop Oyedepo speak out to condemn the manner in which the almost 300 Chibok girls were kidnapped? Did Bishop Oyedepo condemn the failure of the President to rescue the Chibok girls 9 months after they were kidnapped by the insurgents? Has Bishop Oyedepo spoken out to condemn the legalized looting of billions of dollars taking place under the watch of President Jonathan? You should know that voting GEJ is a guarantee of another 4 years of insurgency that will claim more lives and disintegrate Nigeria. The best way to exercise discontent in a democracy is to channel energy into campaigning and voting during the elections. #VoteNotFight# Source: Punch |

The Nigerian military received reliable intelligence report indicating that the Boko Haram sect would launch a massive attack on Monguno, yet troops were taken by surprise when the insurgents struck early Sunday, suggesting the 5 Brigade stationed in the area failed to prepare adequately for the group’s onslaught. Reliable military sources told PREMIUM TIMES that the Brigade received report indicating the insurgents would attack between January 22 and 25. The report, our sources said, was read to officers and men of the Brigade on the night of January 22, with a stern warning that everyone should remain on high alert. Despite warning troops to remain on alert, the leadership of the formation failed to take the necessary steps and make the right deployment of men and equipment to check the imminent attack, PREMIUM TIMES was told. When the terrorists arrived on Sunday, the troops were therefore taken by surprise. Military insiders said the insurgents arrived at about 2 am on Sunday, parking their Hilux vans deep into the bush, with their headlights on. Soldiers of the Brigade, who saw the unusual lights, began to shoot in the direction of the vans without knowing that the insurgents had left the vans and advanced close to the Brigade headquarters. Suddenly, the insurgents began to shoot sporadically. The troop of the Brigade, including those of the Multinational Joint Task Force [MJTF], who were camped at a school inside the barracks after they were dislodged from Baga, engaged the terrorists in a long exchange of gunfire. The biggest fighting tank owned by the Brigade, known as Shika, killed several insurgents, and wounded several others. It was such a long battle that the equipment, which provided cover for ground troops, suddenly ran out of ammunition and began to withdraw. As it withdrew, the rifle men behind also retreated, as the insurgents followed in pursuit. In the process, the commander of the Brigade, a Brigadier General Yekini, and a few other soldiers were wounded. It is not clear the number of soldiers and insurgents killed in the attack. “We could have overpowered the insurgents, but there was no enough ammunition,” an officer, who participated in the battle, told PREMIUM TIMES. But when contacted Monday, the Director of Defence Information, Chris Olukolade, a Major General, dismissed the suggestion that the military did not prepare enough for the attack despite knowing days before that it was coming. “Because it is an area that is prone to attacks, our officers and men are always on the alert,” Mr. Olukolade said. He declined further comments. Meanwhile, the 5 Brigade commander, who was injured in the attack, has been removed from his post and replaced with another officer who addressed the dislodged soldiers on Monday morning asking them to remain calm and focused on the task ahead. It is not known whether his removal has to do with the injury he suffered in battle or his alleged failure to prepare his Brigade well to fend off the onslaught. Nigerian soldiers in Borno state had on Sunday faced three separate and daring raids by the extremist Boko Haram sect on three major towns, successfully repelling two of them, and losing the battle for one. Mr. Olukolade said the daring attacks on Maiduguri and neighbouring Konduga by insurgents were successfully repelled by soldiers while officers and men of 5 Brigade lost the battle for Monguno. Facing the prospects of a resounding loss of the presidency in three weeks, President Goodluck Jonathan at the weekend summoned Christian leaders to a meeting on Monday at the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja. At the event, which comes after several of the Christian leaders publicly turned their backs on his campaign, sources say Jonathan will ask them what he can do differently to earn their support. A series of reports from the field reportedly shows that Vice-Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, to be making progress with a lot of religious leaders, especially in the North. Several of the delegates that have arrived in Abuja said they were invited by a variety of bodies, including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), which is headed by President Jonathan’s friend, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.
