Nigeria’s air force on Thursday bombed Boko Haram strongholds in northeast Borno state, killing “a large number of terrorists”, as a four-nation offensive against the insurgents presses on, a military statement said. The targets of the bombardment included the town of Gwoza, where Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau first proclaimed the existence of a caliphate inside in Nigeria in August, and the notorious Sambisa Forest area, where the rebels have had camps for years. “The air strikes which today targeted… Sambisa forests and parts of Gwoza have been highly successful,” defence spokesman Chris Olukolade said in a statement. “The death of a large number of terrorists has been recorded.” Nigerian military claims of successes against Boko Haram have in the past not been consistent with witness accounts and it was not immediately possible to verify the details of the latest operation. The Sambisa Forest is believed to be the area where more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram in April were taken before being divided into groups and moved. The Islamist militants took over Gwoza in July and tried to encourage people to stay and live under the group’s so-called caliphate. The current population of the town is not known and it was not clear if any civilians were killed in the air force bombardment. Nigeria and its neighbours Cameroon, Chad and Niger this month launched an unprecedented joint campaign to crush the uprising, claiming major successes. But the regional militaries have offered different accounts of operations so far. Chad this week said its fighters were advancing towards Sambisa Forest after crossing the border and overpowering the Islamists in the Borno town of Dikwa, 50 kilometres (about 30 miles) from their base on the Cameroon border. Nigeria has insisted its military is leading the operation, which aimed at containing the insurgency which has killed 13,000 people since 2009. A total of 158 Women and children abducted by Boko Haram insurgents from Katarko village in Yobe have been reunited with their families in Damaturu, Yobe. The victims were released by the sect members after three weeks of captivity. Ahmed Goniri, the state Commissioner for Justice and Chairman of the State Committee on Rehabilitation of Victims of Insurgency, said this while addressing journalists in Damaturu on Thursday. “The victims were screened by security operatives to authenticate their status while government provided them with psychological therapy to ease their trauma,” Mr. Goniri said. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the victims were released by the insurgents three weeks ago but remained in custody of security agencies to undergo screening to ensure that they were indeed captives. Abdurahman Dauda, a displaced person, said his wife and six girls were released by the insurgents. “Two of my boys are still in their custody but, I am of high spirit that they will soon be rescued,” he said. One of the victims, who preferred to remain anonymous, said’ “to be fair to the insurgents, they did not rape or abused us, they simply asked those who were not interested in their religion to leave, and they eventually released us”. Meanwhile, the state government has provided N50,000, two bags of rice, sugar, noodles and wrapper to each of the 15 widows among the victims, while 47 other women received N30,000 each and same quantity of rice, sugar, noodles and wrapper. Presenting the relief materials, Mr. Goniri said government commiserated with the families of the victims and provided the relief materials to help them to resettle. He said 20 boys were still in custody of the insurgents and expressed hope that the renewed operation against the insurgents would rescue them from their captors. Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, yesterday, raised the alarm that no fewer than 600,000 fake Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, had been uncovered in the state. Amosun, who held a closed door meeting with officials of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in the state, including the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Timothy Ibitoye, later addressed newsmen, saying, over 600, 000 PVCs are currently lying fallow in the state. He explained that 625,000 PVCs which carried the state code but the photographs on the cards did not match the faces of registered residents in those wards where the cards were displayed. Amosun specifically mentioned Ward 11 Ita-Eko, where former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the governor belong, that a lot of PVCs brought there for distribution had the state code but no one could identify the images on the cards. Suspecting foul play in the distribution of PVCs in the state, the governor expressed shock at the slow distribution of the cards in the state by INEC. Amosun said that initially, about 1.8 million people registered during the exercise but INEC removed over 500,000 people for double registration and other reasons. He noted that after the registration exercise was re-conducted, about 450,000 registered but Amosun noted that only 159,000 PVCs had been brought and distributed. He said that currently only 40 per cent of the 1.8 million people who registered have got their PVCs in the state. The governor alleged that some one in Abuja was behind the slow distribution of the cards. “In the last election, we had about 1.8 million, they came back to say after post AVIS, removing what they call double registration and a lot of anomalies they said they took away about 500,000 and reduced Ogun State to about 1.3 million and we said ‘no problem, if you said there will be opportunities for people to re – register, which they did, when they did that, from their record, it was almost 450, 000 of the new registration and if you add that to the 1.3 million, it takes us back to about 1.8 or thereabout. “But as we speak, the cards they brought originally, we have two or three issues now. The first one is that the 1.1 million in November, on my honour, about 600, 000 of those cards do not belong to Ogun State, and that is the problem.” Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/02/amosun-raises-alarm-over-fake-600000-voters-cards/#sthash.3cAXi4Dl.dpuf INEC should please look into the matter. 600,000 is not a joke. The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Attahiru Jega, has told Nigerian federal lawmakers he could not guarantee the 2015 general elections will hold on rescheduled dates in March and April. At a meeting with Senators Wednesday, Mr. Jega said he could not commit himself to the “sanctity” of March 28 and April 11 – dates for the rescheduled Nigeria’s general elections. He said the electoral commission could not guarantee aspects of the poll that are beyond its control. Mr. Jega met with the lawmakers to review the decision to postpone the polls from February. Under the Nigerian law, a further six-week extension of the elections is possible, a prospect opposed by many Nigerians, the main opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, and the international community. INEC had said the postponement were necessary for security reasons, as military chiefs had warned against going on with the vote to allow it focus on fighting the terror group, Boko Haram. But the APC said the delay was instigated by President Goodluck Jonathan, to save him and ruling party from losing the elections to the APC candidate, Muhammadu Buhari. Since announcing the new dates nearly two weeks ago, the commission has declined to clearly confirm that there will be no further delay beyond March 28 and April 11, for presidential, National Assembly, governorship and state assembly polls. Responding to a question by George Akume, Senate Minority Leader, on the sanctity of the new dates, on Wednesday, Mr. Jega said it was difficult for him to respond, saying he could only give assurances over aspects within the control of INEC. “That’s a very difficult question to answer. I have said not everything that has to do with the conduct of successful election is within the control of INEC,” Mr. Jega said. Use of card readers Mr. Jega also said the commission will go forward with its plan to deploy card readers for the elections. There have been some concerns, mainly from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, about the plan as Nigerian law prohibits electronic voting. On Wednesday, while PDP Senators opposed the plan, their APC counterparts welcomed it. Heineken Lokpobri, a PDP Senator from Bayelsa State and Odion Ugbesa, from Edo State, argued against the use of card readers for the elections, saying it would be illegal. In his response, Mr. Jega said card readers would only be used for accreditation not actual voting. He said there was no law forbidding the use of electronic devices for accreditation. “Card reader is used for accreditation not voting. Voting his defined as dropping of ballot paper into ballot box. Accreditation is essential for integrity of the election,” he said. “Nothing in the constitution says we should not use electronic device in the process of accreditation. Anybody that is not satisfied can go to court. We have solid ground on that,” he said. He added that the card readers would curb electoral malpractices, as cloned cards would be detected. Mr. Jega said INEC will perform a mock test on the card readers. He said some tests had already been taken in the United States, and will now be tested in the six geopolitical zones. “The card reader has passed in all the 13 test categories conducted in terms of its durability and versatility,” he said. Mr. Jega said the postponement of the general elections will enable INEC to have a flawless, near-perfect elections. INEC National Commissioners are to visit state offices to conduct evaluation and comprehensively determine the level of preparation in the election. He said after the visit, the commission will meet with the heads of departments and directorates of units to conduct a comprehensive assessment, to figure out additional things to be done before March 28. Jega said a meeting with the inter-agency committee on security will hold a meeting to discuss security on the Election Day. More than 15,000 police officers have threatened to either go on strike or disrupt the March 28 and April 11 general elections. They were made up of officers who were promoted from the rank of sergeant to the rank of inspector and those promoted from the rank of inspector to the rank of assistant superintendent of police in December 2013. The policemen, according to seven of them who met with one of our correspondents in Abuja on Tuesday, said that they were promoted since December 2013, but that the police authorities had refused to pay them their new salaries. They said that after waiting for the police authorities for over a year, they were surprised that they were paid their new salaries with the January 2015 salaries, wondering why the money meant for the 13 month was not included. One of them said, “We were promoted in December 2013 and the letters which were given to us indicated that we were to enjoy the benefits accruing to our new rank from the date of our promotion. “We waited to be paid throughout last year, which was 2014. They didn’t pay us, saying that the money was not yet released. “In January this year, they paid us the new salary that was commensurate with our new ranks. But they have refused to pay the areas for the 13 month.” Another officer, who is an ASP, said, “We know that there is corruption in the Force, but how can someone sit on our 13th month salaries and would expect us to keep quiet? “Elections are coming. They said we should be neutral. How can we be neutral when we are being shortchanged by our bosses and the country? “We want to be paid or else there would be crisis during the elections. This is the time for us to shout so that Nigerians would know what we are passing through.” When contacted by one of our correspondents, the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, said though he had not been briefed about the issue, he nevertheless promised that their grievances would be looked into and addressed. “I have not heard of the report, but we will look into their grievances and address them,” he said. According to a saying, never judge a book by is cover. I am not really a women freaker but i like good thing. I noticed that most ladies of nowadays do not really want something serious. They want to enjoy life. They are always demanding. Their most priority is money and sex. Even though they are not a prostitute but they sleep to more men than a prostitute all in the sake of being a big girl. Their ways are not pure. Pay as you go girl are the ones who doesn't want something serious. They sleep with you only if you can afford their pay. With the money they make, they always take a good care of themselves compared to normal lady. They have no business with you after first deal unless you want to renew your contract. They will never allow you to do it raw. They give it to you the way you want it. And if you compare the amount you will spend with normal lady, you will surely spend less. I never want something serious for now, so anytime my cup is full, I always go for pay as you go lady cos you do not need to stress yourself for toasting. Straight to the point and talk about the price. You will select someone that could be more prettier than your normal girl Disclaimer: Do this at your own risk. Just because it is working for me does not mean it will work for you. But if you are matured, it is advisable comparing to the stress of a normal lady |

Hopes that Nigeria’s forthcoming 2015 General Elections will be violence-free has suffered a major setback as supporters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) engaged those of the Labor Party in a bloody clash over rights to hold campaign rallies in Ugono-Orogun Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. SaharaReporters gathered that a serving member representing Ughelli North I Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly Mr. Samuel Mariere(PDP) had led his supporters to the community to campaign for reelection when they were allegedly confronted by supporters of Mr. Ovie Omo-Agege, Delta Central Senatorial Candidate on the platform of the Labor Party (LP). The encounter was said to have degenerated into a pandemonium when gun-wielding supporters of Mariere opened fire on Omo-Agege’s loyalists with one Oke Inana and two others severely wounded. They are said to be on life support machines at the Oghara Teaching Hospital at the time of this report. A physically challenged indigene of the community, Mr. Julius Oderohwo told SaharaReporters that the violence was premeditated as Mariere came prepared for war in the company of persons he described as ‘armed thugs.’ Oderohwo, who disclosed that he suffered some wounds and trauma also called for the prompt prosecution of Mr. Mariere, a legislator who should obey the law and ought, not to encourage violence in any form. “I will take up the matter, and it will serve as a deterrent to other lawless politicians like Mariere,” he said. Already the law firm of A.R. Erakpofoke & Co, Oderohwo’s Solicitors, have submitted a petition to the Area Commander of the Ughelli Area Police Command complaining against Mr. Mariere over “alleged murder and thuggery”. In the petition titled “Acts likely to promote community war, attempted murder and thuggery as displayed by Mr. Samuel Mariere, member representing Ughelli North I in the State House of Assembly”, the complainant alleged that Mariere "Led his campaign train to Ugono-Orogun and when it was obvious that the people of the area did not show any interest in his campaign train, Mariere in total disappointment, ordered his armed political thugs to open fire on a group of spectators who had converged on the town square. The thugs like vexed and wounded lions, did not hesitate to open fire on the unarmed crowd. In the mayhem that ensued, several persons were injured including one Oke Inana and two others who are now lying critically ill at the Oghara teaching hospital.” Although efforts were made to reach Mariere for reactions to the petition, all calls and SMS sent to his phone number were unanswered but one of his political associates who wanted his identity protected denied the story saying that it was the supporters of the Mr. Ovie Omo-Agege who ambushed the campaign train of Mariere adding they were lucky to have escaped unhurt. Also reacting to the incident, Mr. Ovie Omo-Agege, who is contesting the Delta Central Senatorial election on the platform of the Labor Party, described Mariere as "a wicked liar, we all know the antecedent of Mariere that he is a violent politician who go about carrying armed thugs up and down. On that particular day of the incident, I was not in town but when I came I was told about the mayhem Mariere unleashed on his constituents. My cousin was among those shot by Mariere thugs and as we talk he is under intensive care, with life support machine. At the appropriate time, Mariere will face the law."
