I learnt SPSS first quarter of 2013 and in 2014 I had the opportunity to learn how to use R but was super busy with MSc course work. However I wish to learn it now, do you do private home tutoring in mainland, Lagos?
Another opportunity is to go to UNILAG which is close to my location so please be reasonable with your fee thank you.

Smart Lady, he is well informed and I like all the information he is dishing out free of charge. I remember December 2014 at the POE when I went for secondary inspection the CBP mentioned this thread.
They read it too and all they want from us is to be civil( be honest and pay your bills).

Haven't you all figured by now that @Twoods is either a VO/ use to be one in Nigeria/or works with an organization that has interests in matters related to birth tourism.

Also, I suppose his culture doesn't celebrate "respect" which prevents Nigerians from seeing things logically and bluntly separating facts from emotions. We shouldn't be culture-bound. Filter through the supposed "rudeness", "disrespect" and pick what information will be relevant to you without getting offended.

Honestly I enjoyed the old team before the Tsunami in 2014 and some team 2015. A lot of research, sharing and looking out for each other with love. What could have gone wrong?

Please phoenix mums, for those who have used or who are using legacy suites, are there rooms with twin beds? How much and also please how much does a two bedroom suite inclusive of tax cost? How much do cabs cost from the airport to the hotel? Does anyone have the phone numbers of good cab guys I can use during my stay? I will be arriving in two weeks and I feel these are things I should know, please help. Thanks a lot.
Update on my dollar hunt: for those who stay in Benin city, I was able to buy from fcmb @201.2 Naira to a dollar although they only agreed to give me 7000dollars (used my details and that of my husband). Please if unable to get more with my mum's details can I use first bank Dormicilliary card(has anyone heard of this?)gtb master card or fidelity visa or master card for pos transactions? Shey I won't be charged extra?
Plenty questions please nor vex, I always like to be sure. Thank you so much everyone. Please let's try to maintain the love on this thread by avoiding prolonged quarrels because this thread keeps a lot of us informed and relaxes our hormones. God bless you all

You need to relax and commit your journey into God's hands cos all will be well. Two bedroom cost 999 with tax monthly, you can pay with your ATM or you do money order upon arrival. The best is to get a taxi upon arrival at the airport which I did and it cost me 40 Dollars. When you arrive you can get the number of discount cabs at the reception for ready movement. For me I usebus to go for checkup which cost 4 dollars and you can use your bus pass to anywhere in pphoenix throughout that day. I have only use taxi to go to church and when I have a lot to carry from shopping.

Continuation from page 92:

First of all congratulations to all Mums who just put to bed whether CS, VB or VBAC. Na Godwin! None of them dey easy, I don't know why we run away from CS and then some people end up losing their babies and their lives. Look at small Togo, they have low maternal and infant mortality as a result of child birth. Their govt too gave free medical treatment to all pretty women who have CS in govt hospitals to help reduce the rate of mortality.

I left Lagos on Monday, 4th May, 2015 with Delta and we had to stop over at Accra to buy Aviation fuel due to scarcity of fuel in Nigeria. (I wasn't surprised cos from my lil experience I predicted that but I was just angry how Nigeria was losing a lot of money as a result of this strike action). We got to Accra spent 2 hours before we left for Atlanta, when our plan landed I was amongst the first 10 to get out cos I did t have hand luggage and I didn't want to spend a lot of time standing at POE. After like 30 minutes it got to my turn:
Me: Good morning Sir! (Since it was about 7am on 5th May Atlanta time)
CBP: Good morning, how are you?
Me: Fine thank you
CBP: What are you here for?
Me: To have my baby
CBP: Are you with over 10,000 USD?
Me: Only 10,000 USD
CBP: Are you with over 10,000 USD? Answer yes or no?
Me: No
CBP: You mean you will be all alone by yourself at an apartment in Phoenix?
Me:Yes
CBP: Why did you travel alone? Why didn't you go to a city where you have relatives?
Me: Then I said they will come over when I put to bed (i was bringing out all my documents before he called the intercom to request for a police to take me for secondary inspection). He asked me not to worry I should shoe them all my documents there.

I think I love this there secondary inspection sef cos it is more relaxing and they are very good physcologist.

At secondary inspection:
I immediately used the rest room then waited for like 10 minutes before I was called and we were 3 Peggy women and other people more of blacks waiting to be called.

Me: Good morning Sir (it was a black CBP officer)
CBP: Good morning, how are you?
Me: Fine thank you.
CBP: I can see from your passport that you travel a lot
Me: I smiled and said yes
CBP: So he asked me business or work?
Me: I told him work
CBP: Then he asked me what I was here for:
Me: I said to have my baby
CBP: He asked if I have contacted a hospital and Doctor?
Me: I said yes then brought out all my documents (email from MIHS for appointment with finanicals attached with the MIHS package for self paying patients, notification letter sent to American Embassy and a reply from them, email from Legacy suites in phoenix reservation, baby project budget, marriage certificate etc)
CBP: Then he said that OK, we really like it when you notify the embassy, it says valor about your personality.
Me: I smiled
CBP: Have you paid for your hospital bills?
Me: No, I have to sign an agreement with the hospital first before paying?
CBP: How much are you with?
Me: 10,000 USD
CBP: Any Naira?
Me: No
CBP: Have you been to US before? And where?
Me: I said yes for Christmas vacation and we were in Houston, Dallas and Alabama
CBP: Alabama? What the hell were you doing there? Am from Alabama
Me: Then I smiled at told him I went to visit my Uncle for New year
CBP: You mean your Uncle lives there? (Surprised)
Me: Yes for more close to 13 years and the NGO I worked for has its heaquarters there. I told him Alabama was a cool place
CBP: Then he said he is from Montgomery and glad I enjoyed my stay in Alabama cos we got talking about places in Alabama like Florence, Huntsville, Birmingham etc (it's good to travel and explore cities, you also learn and have things to talk about)

Na so he stamped me in for six months until Nov 4th, 2015. I went and picked my luggage and headed to customs but cos of my 10,000 USD they sent me for another secondary inspection. At their place the white guy saw me, read my card and said "Oh that's no big deal, you just fill a form to declare to money you have and off you go." But he still checked my bags for foodstuff but I had none. He also took time to read my baby project notebook where I wrote a lot of info from this trend like budget, hospitals, contact address for apartments, procedure for getting birth certificate, baby passport and Nigerian visa. He just smiled and asked me to go after filling a form. They didn't even want me to bring out the money for them to see or count. By the time I went to Delta I had missed my flight to phoenix so I was rebooked for the next flight which was going to be boarding in less than 2 hours.

We should all be positive, prayful and prepared. Do not leave any stone unturned. Good luck to us all

One bedroom: For weekly you get $209/229, for monthly rate you get $729 ($961.49 tax inclusive plus you get refunded some money when leaving if the conditions of the room you stayed at is ok). And you pay with your credit card or money order not cash. Will get info for two bedrooms and send to you later except someone on this thread can help us or check previous posts.

Happymum:
Ok,thanks a lot. Please what's the current rate for a one bedroom and also a two bedroom @ legacy suites(inclusive of tax and the extended stay discount)? Thanks

You are welcome and i wish you a safe trip.

Your account is enlightening but the bolded is really helpful to ME,( booked TA cos it was the cheapest of ALL abuja airlines by about $500+ for my July date to chicago). I've been skeptical about them cos the Yelp reviews about TA had me scratching my head &asking myself if they are really licensed to fly in EU & USA cos they are HARSH.

Though I've flown a few intn'l airlines, I don't have a high standard cos Arik & Aero will cure you of any illusion about flying and lower any bar you set but the reviews were scary.

Pity I won't be able to enjoy the one night lodging on the return leg cos the layover is just about 75mins, wish it could be extended to the 7hr layover 1st leg to US part of the journey, the meal tix is an ok compensation.
Better than nothing.. Thx.
I have always wanted to use the best Doctors and Medical facilities and have Americana kids since I missed being a Britico...lol. When I found out I was Peggy for my first child in Jan 2012 i was glad I started planning but God had his own plan. I was moved from my Abuja office to Lome, Togo office in April 2012 so I had little or no time to apply for visa and I was so busy with office work travelling up and down.

When I got to Lome it took me time to settle down since Hubby was still in Nigeria working (we have always ran two homes -Abuja and Lagos which changed to Lome and Lagos). I found an International Hospital (Clinque Saint Joseph) and registered for antenatal. I remember I recommended to Chigozirim on this thread last year when her visa was revoked because the treatment I got there was nothing close to the rubbish we see in Nigeria. When they say check up they means business and give their patients adequate attention with proper treatment.
This made me to relax and forget my American dream, but after I had my daughter and found out that my office project grant wasn't going to be renewed after Dec 2013, I quickly started my plans of getting a US visa which I got in Lome easily since I was considered as a staff of an International NGO working and living in Lome. (As a Nigerian they will always want to find out why you didn't apply in your country). It was a family visa and we were supposed to use it for vacation in Sept 2013 which didn't come to pass cos my Hubby and I were both busy with office work.

In 2014 I had moved back to Lagos, got admission for my MSc and was busy with school throughout 2014, a family friend sent us the link of this thread in March 2014, i got Peggy in May and lost it due to Lagos stress. (Am sure those that live in Abuja and Lome know how easy life can be especially when it comes to driving unlike our crazy Lagos).

On Dec 23, 2014, my family travelled to US for Christmas and new year break with TURKISH airline (a very good airline in all ramifications, the only disadvantage is you must always get to Istanbul before your final destination). Our POE was Houston and at that moment I was already 15 weeks Peggy and it was obvious. Houston people no dey laugh o, but I was prepared, confident, prayerful and they could see my passports i that I travel a lot. The black Lady CBP asked us why we were visting US we said for Christmas and new year holiday then she asked if I was preggy and I said yes, she asked me how far I said 15 weeks and she didn't believe me cos I looked swollen, big and more than 15 weeks. So she sent me for secondary inspection while she stamped my Hubby and Daughter for six months (till June 22, 2015).

At Secondary inspection:
I only waited for 20 minutes before I was called by another White Lady CBP (Ladies you know how though we can be especially to our fellow ladies but I wasn't afraid).
CBP: Why are you here?
Me: For Christmas and new year holiday, I need some rest
CBP: Why didn't you travel since you were give this visa?
Me: We have been busy with work and when am free my Hubby isn't free and this is the only time we have to travel together as a family. As you can see I travel a lot of mission but throughtout 2014 I havent travelled anywhere cos I have been busy with my studies. I also have 2 more final exams to write on Jan 17th, 2015 plus project defence so I must leave US on 13th Jan so as to write my exams which is very important to me.
CBP: Can I see your return ticket?
Me: I gave her plus my Doctor's report stating how far I was gone and my due date.
CBP: I like to see Nigerians that are honest, most of them come here lie to us, give birth and don't pay medical bills. It's tax payers that suffer from their mess cos we pay their bills. We know about the give birth in US thread on Naira land. Forget about the wrong things they write there. If you intend to have your baby in US make sure you inform the embassy, Dotors corresponfence, budget, print your statement of account while coming, have enough cash to pay your bills, make sure you say the truth, pay your bills and keep your receipts very well cos we will always ask you when you want to renew your visa and the point of entry.
Me: No problem, we still have good Nigerians
CBP: I will stamp you for 3 weeks( she was then looking at me to read my thoughts)
Me: No worries, that is fine please just stamp till 13th Jan (which was less than the 3 weeks she offered)...lol
CBP: She stamped me in for 6 months o till June 22.

We left the airport, cruised Houston, Dallas, Alabama and Istanbul before going back to Nigeria as planned. If you buy Turkish airline ticket you are entitled to a one night hotel lodging at Istanbul upon arrival from US and if you pay for transit visa which is 40 Dollars. Then upon arrival at Istanbul from Nigeria while waiting for your flight to US you are entitled to meal ticket. Know your right and get to enjoy all cos you learn a lot when you travel, great exposure too.

Let me rest my back aches I will continue with part two of my 2nd POE which was at Atlanta on 5th May, 2015. I hope someone learns from my humble story...me I no sabi brag o...lol.

Hello Happy Mum, am currently at Legacy suites and is it a good place and I also for discount like other Nigerian Mum paying monthly. For POE, I used Delta so we my POE was Atlanta. It was stress free and will post my story later. I didn't carry food stuff cos I didn't want to stress my self carrying load. But if you have energy you can carry food stuff.

Hello everyone! Congrats to all the Mums to be.. Been following this blog for a while now. I have been married for about a year now and we are expecting our 1st child.
My question comes from a very different direction. wonder if anyone has questioned or attempted to justify how worth it having a baby in the US is? When I worked out the costs, with the current exchange rate it works out to be N4m. (This is about a quarter of our savings).
N4m includes flights, hospital bills, shopping and accomodation. Although I will be staying with family before the baby is born and will move to an apartment when my hubby joins me just before baby and afterwards. I do like my space, especially at such a sensitive time. It also seems to me that several people are fine with having a baby in the US while their husbands stay back at home maybe to save cost or whatever but that is out of the question for me and his presence is the most important thing but that raises cost a bit.
So my husband and I are really unsure for the following reasons.
1. Giving birth in Nig will cost me N0.00k because my office will pay for it all. In the US we have to spend a reasonable chunk of our savings.
2. There is no risk of my hubby missing the birth cuz in the US he can only be away from work for 3 weeks max and babies smtimes decide to come out 2 weeks ealier or later, making it hard for him to be there in time and also leave the US together.
3. In Nigeria, I can work up until the week I'm due, leaving me plenty of time to spend with my baby afterwards.
4. I can have a proper naming ceremony 8 days afterwards with my whole family, also sentimentally, the same Doctor that brought me into this world 30 years ago, will also be my OBGYN and help deliver my own child.
5. I would be in my own comfortable space at home, and its just less stressful than the logistics of travelling.
Ofcourse the advantages of the US, ...the passport and....not sure what else...better healthcare I guess.
So my question to other Mums to be, Did you struggle with these kind of thoughts or other sentimental reasons? It wld be nice to hear your feedback. Between I already have a US visa.
Thanks!
P.S: Because Ive seen how abusive it can get here, I hope people can genuinely see I am only sharing my concerns and trying to see if others had similar concerns. If these things never crossed your mind, lucky u.

My Father made this same mistake before I was born, I would have been a British Citizen but because of decisions he like 'Nigerian economy was good then, he wanted to witness the birth of his first child etc'. Till today he regrets his actions. Everyone is facing this challenge, take a bold step and give your unborn child the very best.

I plan to arrive first week of May but am yet to make up my mind about accommodation cos I need to stay were I can talk to fellow Nigerian Peggy Mums before boredom will kill me. You can call MIHS to book appointment with them if u wish to use their services.

Hello Everybody,
Thanks for providing all the information on this site.

I have shortlisted three locations 1) El Paso (Doctorspareti) 2)Houston (Oakbend & Dr Fa) 3) Phoenix (MIHS)

Can anyone share their recent experience with Doctorspareti?

Any would be moms in May/June? I plan to arrive in US little early and I can catch up anybody planning to visit in May, June.

It seems Doctorsparaeti have been over used and their quality of service has degraded over last few months.Any comments welcome.
