rabzy: Thanks for your insight, a lot of people don't know the construction industry and how just a simple variation in conditions can shoot up the cost of a project. but please can you explain what you meant by our trucks cant run on this type of fuel. Cant we get the ones that use this fuel.. The GT Diesel is lighter. ..shorter carbon chain and will burn faster. Longer carbon chain diesel (that can power our domestic diesel cars and trucks) can actually be produced by tweaking the distillation process but such a diesel will be too expensive for owners of diesel engines to use it "as is". The main advantage of this type of diesel is that it is almost sulphur free...too clean. European customers use it to blend the regular (high sulphur) diesel and bring the sulphur levels to acceptable spec. Unlike Nigeria, the sulphur level in fuels is well regulated in Europe and other western world. |
olumuyiolaoluwa: yea most reactors there were fabricated in korea as u said, SGS were also there for calibration whatever.but Julius berger also played a very vital role at the EGTL yard there.this project have started long ago thank God they finally completed it now but my question is the flaring don't know if they have stoped it?. You can't stop gas flaring completely...it's a part of the refining process. Such projects will however reduce the quantity of gas flared to the barest minimum. Gas monetization will give the government additional excess fund...I can't say whether they will loot it or not. |
HNosegbe: So the diesel is not intended for the domestic market? Interesting.. Two reasons the GT Diesel will not be sold in domestic market: 1. The fuel is too clean...I mean almost zero sulphur. Nigeria is yet to fully regulate the sulphur levels in her fuels. Any sulphur level can be virtually sold...the environment suffers! 2. The Diesel is too light. It's good enough to be used for blending diesel of high sulphur...a kind of dilution. ..to make it meet specification. This, of course, is for diesels that are meant to be sold in the the European markets. |
Billyonaire: These American companies operating in Nigeria are actually richer than Nigeria and Nigerians put together. Chevron Nig Limited have 70% stake and NNPC just 15%?. Don't worry. The ratio will change after chevron has recouped the initial capital it ploughed into the project. If chevron was waiting on NNPC, we will not be here to celebrate this success. Na naija things naa. |
HNosegbe: So it cost almost $10billion to construct this plant in Nigeria, yet cost just about one-eighth of the amount for a similar-sized plant in Qatar?. You are right to an extent- but note the following: Unlike in Qatar, 1. EGTL is built on a reclaimed land (you don't want to know how many cubic feet of sand was used) 2. The modules were fabricated in Qatar, Korea, etc and shipped to Nigeria. A new wharf had to be built to take these heavy modules. Moreover, the low water depth meant the sea had to be dredged to take heavy ships. 3. Location. Escravos is only accessible by air or water. A lot of money was spent on flying staff and contactors from Warri and Lagos. Aero contractors, Arik and other airlines made a lot of money. Logistics took a good chunk of the cost of the project. 4. Converting gas to liquid is a whole new technology owned by Sasol. Chevron spent a lot to train operators in SA, US and Qatar. Over 200 people were trained at a point...with some trainees spending over 3yrs in SA. 5. Power supply. A brand new power plant had to be built to take care of energy requirements. And believe me, the energy requirement is high. 6. etc...etc. I don't want to talk about money spent to settle communities, ...and govt. big boys to keep the project going. Uduagha must be commended though. ..without him, the project would have been cancelled by the senate midway. The GT Diesel and naphtha produced will be exported...100%. Our trucks cannot run on that quality of diesel. So don't expect the price of diesel ever coming down as a result of this project. |
Jakumo: He looks like he might be a car mechanic or auto-electrician, because those items in his hand look very much like car ignition coils.. Are you a muslim? or Na only you sabi what "car ignition coils" look like? |

The day I lost my lovely wife. That was April 14, 2012. She was a month less than 31, and had just been delivered of our 3rd baby...3 hrs earlier. We were celebrating the arrival of the baby when joy, suddenly and without warning, turned into sorrow. She died... I still cry anytime I remember the good moments we shared. She was such a wonderful companion. ..and a believer. . We were married for 5 years. The 3 kids are all doing well...thank God. |

crusufixo: Used to be infuriated by their nonsense unsolicited Sms and voice call. Till i downloaded an app " call blocker" ( there are many of these apps though ). It blocks both calls and sms. Hence, as they kip calling with new numbers, i kip adding them to the call blocker app. Now, i hardly get their nonsense sms or calls unlike before where i get at least 2 to 3 of their calls every 3 to days. Of which, through out november, till now, i hve not heard from them.Another good app for android phone users in Play Store is called SPAM TRAP. The difficult part of using this app however is that you need to define the "trap conditions"- e.g. based on number and content of SMS (word or phrase). Our telephone service providers are not smiling at all. You block one, they come up with another... just as if they knew what you did! |
enigmang: How is NCC incompetent ?? Hav you reported the issue? To either the Telco or NCC..Bros, no vex o. But e bi like say you never get phone. |

pendusky: •Suicide in some parts of ibo land also is a taboo, and the family would be the ones to pay the penalty if anyone commits suicide. The main reason a particular "religion" is a hard sell in Igboland. In Arochukwu, a married Aro woman CANNOT have intimacy outside marriage. This is why we Aro men rarely marry non Aros. |
Afritop: h for what: What has h got to do with thisHe used the "h" to book the FTC position. He has already modified it. I'm surprise he didn't include FTC now the topic has made front page. Others use a "." to book it. Understand? |
If this is true then Obiano should quit dancing cos this is not gonn be child's play and prepare himself. There are strong evidence against him and looking at how many elections we're overturn in favor of oppositions in the last election, I believe Obiano will be surely booted out because he didn't win that poll.
"Strong evidence against Obiano" like the 183 imported Osun defenders currently languishing in Imo state prison. Ngige should be thinking of how to settle the 2b naira the frog-eyed emperor invested in his campaign. |
