Ritualists may have
taken over Ogere,
Ogun State, on Lagos-
Sagamu expressway
as a female victim on
her way to Lagos from
Port Harcourt was
kidnapped and taken
away at gun point for
slaughter.
Her fresh corpse was
later found close to
the point where she
was kidnapped two
weeks later, with vital
organs of her body,
including tongue,
breasts and clitoris
missing and Vanguard
gathered that this is
the second of such
incident occurring in
the area in three
weeks
The victim, Miss Tonia
Ibelefa, 25, was
travelling in company
of two male relations
in a private car when
the incident occurred.
Eyewitness told
Vanguard that the
armed ritualists blocked
the expressway,
dragged the University
of Port Harcourt
graduate out of the
car and took her into
the bush, adding that
the two male family
members with the girl
surrendered her at
gun point.
“She is the one we
want and you must
surrender her,” the
ritualists told the two
men, according to the
witness.
The witness said the
matter was immediately
reported to the police
in the area who
launched a manhunt
for the criminals to no
avail.
Messages were also
said to have been sent
to the girl’s family in
Port Harcourt who
also reported the case
to the police who
immediately declared a
case of missing person.
Thinking that it was a
case of kidnap, the
family waited to hear
from the abductors
but got no information
about her whereabout.
However, the ritualists
last Thursday called
the parents through
the number obtained
from their victim’s
phone, advising them
to pick up the corpse
of their daughter at a
junction very close to
where the incident
happened.
Elder sister of the
deceased confirmed
that that family had
since recovered the
corpse, which still
looked very fresh at
the time of recovery,
giving an indication that
she was not killed
immediately she was
kidnapped.

I was stuck yesterday

Matt Stutzman is
determined to win gold.
The 29-year-old from Iowa
remarkably uses his feet
to fire the bow. To fire an
arrow, Stutzman lifts his

3. Twenty-year-old Chinese
swimmer Lu Dong, who has
no arms, is unable to hold
the edge of the pool to
launch herself into a race.

5. Spanish cyclist Juan
Jose Mendez competed in
the individual C1-2-3 1km

With only the use of his
right arm and right leg, the
58-year-old gritted his
teeth as he approached
the finish line at the
Velodrome.
The bike used by Mendez
has a specially adapted
seat in which he places his
left leg in order to balance.

Nothing last forever in

as much as we would like
to think that the one
person we’re with is
the soul-mate, final love
and the person that
completes your existence,
sometimes (more times
than not) it ends up not
being the case. What
sucks more than a once
perfect relationship
suddenly ending
? If you didn’t do the
breakup, or you were
pretty much dumped.
Break ups are easier to
handle when you initiated
the break up, or it was
mutual – not sure if
those really happen, but
you get my point.
So you got dumped.
Whether it was sudden or
you saw it coming it’s
still something that hit you
hard, and if you’re a guy
it definitely gives your ego
a nice sucker punch. The
world at that time might
seem like it’s ending
, but not to worry it’s
definitely not. And before
you know it, you’ll be
completely over this
person. So how we get
over the ex? Well for
starters here’s what
you should definitely not
do —> Don’t kill
yourself!
So what should you do?
1. Deal with the pain
and hate.
It’s very normal after
every break up to have a
huge amount of pain, and
possibly hate towards the
other person. Do you
want to cry? By all means
do so. Scream and shout?
Do that too. You can
write out your thoughts
bashing the ex, and think
all kinds of negative things
towards him or her. Listen
to sad love songs and cry.
It’s all a phase. But the
most important thing is
not to let anyone see it.
No bashing or pity
Facebook statuses, no
sub tweets, YouTube
videos or blog posts. Do all
your crying and hate
behind closed doors. No
one wants to see you
look pathetic, and those
that do just want to be
entertained.
2. Keep your space
There’s nothing worse
than hanging around your
ex hoping that somehow
feelings will come back or
that one night of magic
will rekindle everything. If
you have mutual friends,
try as much as possible
to stay away from them
especially if you’re
bound to either talk about
him/her, or even worse
see him/her. Deleting folks
off Facebook is kind of
childish but you can
certainly use that limited
profile function and block
the news feed. No texts,
IMs, tweets, etc. Call it a
detox if you will. Most
importantly and this is
where most of us fail…
No intimacy with the ex!! None
at all. Maybe I should’ve
said that first, but oh
well.
3. Talk to friends &
hangout
Now when we say talk to
friends, we don’t mean
call every friend you know
and start crying about
your ex. It’s very
pathetic looking to have
to deal with someone
whining on and on about
their ex and why they left
and blah blah blah BS.
Save it for the shrink or
for your journal. But
besides that hanging out
with friends is very
healthy. Go out for a drink
or two, BBQs, house
gatherings, bars, brunch,
park, etc. Anything your
friends invite you to do, is
game for you. Unless of
course you’re bound to
see the ex.
4. Write down your
feelings and analyze.
Your best friend is your
journal during a break up.
If you think it, or want to
say it out loud, then get a
pen and write it down. A
lot of times during a break
up you want to say a lot
of things to the ex, and
explain some things, but
believe me saying anything
to an ex that dumped you
in hopes of amending
things is the wrong way
to go. In addition, writing
down stuff also gives you
the opportunity to
analyze the relationship
and sometimes the light
bulbs go off and you might
realize that it was going
south for a while before
the break up happened.
Besides it’s good
documentation so you can
see how silly you sounded
years later.
5. Stay active.
They say one of the best
diets is a break up. Partly
because you never eat
and you’re depressed or
you ‘ginger’ yourself
into getting involved in
some activity. Running,
basketball, football,
cycling, volleyball etc.
Always wanted to do
some sort of outdoor
activity? Well here’s
your chance to do it and
the best thing is that you
get to preoccupy your
mind with something other
than the thought of your
ex. Every moment you
stay idle is time for you to
dwell on the break up or
even worse make a
mistake and call/text the
ex. Thou shall not do that.
Plus in a scenario where
you didn’t have much
control (the break up) this
provides something you
can actually control and
get some sense of power
into your life.
6. Explore other options
Now I’m not saying go
out there and stay
desperately looking for a
rebound or if you’re a
guy, looking for the next
piece of ass to boost
your masculine ego. But if
there are people that are
interested in you or you
are interested, it
doesn’t hurt to hang
out and explore those
options. Now obviously
you’d definitely want to
take things slow, but the
company will help a lot (as
long as you don’t bring
up the ex). A feeling that
there are other fish in the
sea will definitely help you
get over the “my life is
over” break up feeling.
Plus you never know, your
new friends and such
might end being a whole
lot better for you than
you imagined. After all,
they say the best way to
get over an ex love is to
find a new one. That’s
probably about 40% true,
but there’s some truth

Police say a Maryland man
managed to kill 70,000
chickens in one drunken
night, and now he's facing
charges for it.
Joshua D. Shelton, 21, is
accused of drinking so
heavily at a Delmar farm
that he couldn't tell the
difference between a light
switch and the circuit
breakers connected to
three chicken houses, The
Daily Times reports.
Shelton allegedly cut the
breakers on Friday night,
and deprived the chickens
of food, water and cooling
fans
.
"Without power, the
chickens will begin to die
within 15 minutes,"
according to charging
documents obtained by
the paper.
Farmer Mark Shockley
found all but 100 chickens
dead the next morning.
Shelton was found lying in
the houses' power control
shed, wearing only a T-
shirt and boxers and
smelling of alcohol
, cops told the Associated
Press. He had reportedly
been at the home for a
small party that
Shockley's daughter was
holding, and passed out in
the control room.
The chickens were worth
about $20,000, though
cleanup costs will add to
the damages.
Shelton was charged with
burglary, malicious
destruction of property
and trespassing.

Kuramo Beach, to its
residents, is escapism of
some sorts. Besides its
regular occupants,
prostitutes and drug
peddlers see the place as
haven for their
operations. It was like an
island on its own.
For those who wanted to
'feel high' on illicit drug,
Kuramo also gave them
that illusion of being on
top of their world.
Kuramo offered unending
music, blaring from
speakers of numerous
drinking joints that lined
the ocean front.
But the music stopped
early hours of Saturday,
August 18, around 3:00am,
when ocean surge,
entombed a large section
of the shanties and
cabins. It was not only
the shanties and cabins
that fell casualties, about
16 persons were also
swept away by the
ocean rage.
By Sunday, the picture
became clearer, as
government agents moved
in, and demolished the
remaining shanties. As a
result, the residents have
scattered. But some of
them still wished it were
a bad dream that would
soon go away. They were
seen on Wednesday still
hanging around the
Kuramo Beach extension.
Some of them lived there
for over 10 years, and for
those in this category, it
is difficult, having another
place to call a home. One
of them, who pleaded
anonymity, said Kuramo
though offered them a
shelter; it also played
host to a lot other
negative indulgences.
According to him, over 50
per cent of the
inhabitants were
prostitutes and they
were the main attraction,
given the number of men
who trooped in, mostly at
night.
He said, "The prostitutes
are the main attraction in
Kuramo village. They were
there in all shapes and
sizes. From 8:00pm, men
would start arriving. Some
after gulping some bottles
of alcoholic drink, would
face the commercial sex
workers.
"Besides prostitution,
drug also came handy
here. Whatever it was
you wanted. Is it
marijuana or crack
(cocaine)? They were
available. A pinch sold for
N250, a wrapper of
marijuana is N50. Again,
there was another form
of marijuana, which a
wrap sold for N200. That
one was the
concentrated type.
"And for those who
wanted to enhance their
sexual performance,
there were those who
sold the local aphrodisiac
called Bura ntasi."
This source who spoke
fluent English, said the
prostitutes who lived
inside the cabins, where
they paid between N800 -
N1000 daily, depending on
the size of the room,
were however, conscious
of being infected with
HIV/AIDS, as they insisted
their clients must put on
condoms. But he
however, added that they
had perfected some
tricks, in which they
swindled some
unsuspecting clients.

prostitutes had agents,
and the agents normally
lurked around. As soon as
any man entered the
room with any of them,
he would be asked to
hang his trousers by the
window. As soon as the
client got carried away
by the sexual ecstasy,
the agent stealthily
picked the trousers from
outside, and emptied the
money and valuables
therein.
"Many patrons of
prostitutes here had lost
their valuables in that
manner". According to
him, the prostitutes
charged between N500 -
N1000, and all depending
on negotiation skills of the
client.
"Kuramo ran on 24 hours
basis, it hadly went to
sleep."
One of the former
inhabitants, Mr. Samuel
Adebayo could not be
bothered about sex
hawkers and their antics.
His concern was where
he would start his
tailoring business again.
Having lived in Kuramo for
over 10 years, and being
thrown out under three
hours, had left him
puzzled for now. He was
among those seen at the
Bar Beach sea front,
about 100 metres from
Kuramo, on Wednesday.
He denounced the claim of
the Ministry of
Waterfront
Infrastructure that they
were given four days
notice.
"I had lived in Kuramo
Beach for over 10 years,
it was not true that
there was any notice. It
was on Sunday (August
19) morning that the DPO
of Bar Beach police
station led his men to this
place and told everyone
to come out.
"We were given only two
hours to pack our
belongings. How many
things could one pack in
two hours? So, some of
us only took a fraction of
what we have, before
the caterpillar moved in,"
he said.
He recollected that there
were about 110 cabins,
and they paid for
everything there. "There
was no water, no toilets
and no bathrooms. We
bought water at the rate
of N50 per bucket. To
bath, one would pay N100,
and to use the toilet, it
attracted N100."
On his own part, Mr. Laja
Obasi, who said he was a
security man at Kuramo,
also said he lived there
for almost 11 years, and
he was almost regretting
it.
Obasi who explained that
he earned N3,000 per
week, stressed that his
fear was how to get
another job.
Himself and his colleagues
were for now, living at
the mercy of friends and
passers-by. He moaned,
"I'm still fit to work as
security man, but who
can employ me?" He
suffers a limp in one of
his legs."
Another former resident,
who simply preferred to
be addressed as Prince,
said he was a tourism
promoter at the beach
front, and all that had
gone with the wind.
Dressed in a jeans
trousers and ash-
coloured sweater, he said
he was in the business of
making those who visited
the beach comfortable,
providing them good
drinks and accommodation.
As at Wednesday, Prince
was still in a quandary
about the way forward. "I
really want to retrace my
steps by going back to
God in a seven-day
prayer and fasting," he
began. "After that, I will
now decide what next to
do. I have two options -
either to raise money for
my young wife to start
business, because I had
been the one shouldering
the family's burden or buy
a car which I will be using
to do kabukabu."
The commissioner for
Waterfront
Infrastructure, Mr.
Olusegun Oniru, who
visited the site on Monday
reiterated that a four-
day warning was given to
traders and residents. He
said, "It is not that we
waited for this disaster
to happen before we
started acting. We gave
them a four-day warning
of the looming ocean
surge and high waves but
they wouldn't listen. It is
rather unfortunate that
they waited for nature to
force them out."
Oniru added that the
state government was
faced with an Herculean
task, because some of
the residents, had no
place to go. Some have
constructed some
shanties, directly in
waterfront at the Bar
Beach, and inside and
outside where they kept
their wares and personal
effects.
Besides, some traders
who were equally
dislodged displayed their
wares inside their buses
and cars.
While most of the
residents and traders
ruled out compensation of
any kind, some of them
were still bogged down
by uncertainty of their
future.

Many bizarre stories
come out of Nigeria
these days, but the
one that came out of
Gusau, Zamfara State
this weekend will
surely rank as a
world-beater.
According to
newspaper reports,
three women were
arraigned before a
Higher Shari’a Court
in Gusau for allegedly
raping a 20 year old
man. The man,
Abdulrahman Sulaiman,
was a Man-O-War
volunteer who went to
the Women Multi-
Purpose Center in
Gusau to help organize
a preaching session
organized by the
state’s Ministry of
Women and
Children’s Affairs for
women during the holy
month of Ramadan.
According to the police
prosecutors three
women, Hannatu
Ibrahim [23], Wosila
Hassan [20] and
Rukayya Hassan [21]
conspired among
themselves and serially
raped Abdulrahman
until he lost
consciousness! How
did this happen? The
prosecutors said they
lured him into a corner
of the Women’s
Centre, where they
“forced” him to
have sex with them in
turn until poor
Abdulrahman fell
unconscious. It was
said that he was
rushed to hospital,
where he was
resuscitated. The
three women have
now been remanded in
prison custody until
Monday next week,
when witnesses will
be called to the court
to testify against
them.
I suspect that half of
Gusau town will turn
up in court on that
day to hear the
evidence against the
three
“conspirators.” If
the three women and
the man in question
actually did what they
were alleged to have
done 1] at a preaching
session 2] during the
month of Ramadan 3]
when the centre was
brimming with other
women and children,
then it will be a new
low in religious morality
in this part of the
world.
The evidence will
however be very
interesting and it may
force this country’s
lawyers and jurists to
have to rewrite the
law on rape. Some
years ago, I heard a
senior lawyer say on
television that the law
on rape as it stands
today does not
envisage a woman
raping a man, unless if
he is a minor who is
seduced by a much
older woman.
Otherwise, the lawyer
said, “a woman
cannot really rape a
man because it
requires his willing
cooperation” to
effect the act.
It will be interesting to
see if the witnesses
will say Abdulrahman
shouted for help while
he was being raped. Or
what the three women
used to force his
cooperation, a gun or
a knife, for instance.
Anatomically speaking,
while a man can
successfully rape a
woman who is not
cooperating but who
goes limp at gunpoint,
the same can hardly
be said of the reverse
case. A man who has
a gun or a knife
pointed at him and
goes limp cannot be
successfully raped!
My only fear with this
story is that many
men in Gusau and
around this Nigeria will
wistfully wish that
they were the ones
that were raped. Mark
you, the three alleged
“conspirators” are
young women hardly
out of teen ages. They
will find many willing
takers in Gusau and
elsewhere in Nigeria
without resorting to
any force! In fact, if
someone were to call
for male volunteers to
be raped, in this
Nigeria, the queues will
be longer than the men
who lined up at the
Hisbah Office in Kano
to marry widows and
divorcees!

The Boko Haram sect
has again denied
negotiation talks with
the federal government.

wal jihad, popularly known
as Boko Haram, has again,
denied engaging in talks
with the Nigerian
government, contrary to
widespread reports that
the sect had re- entered
into dialogue with the
government.
The group made this
denial in an email to
PREMIUM TIMES on
Wednesday evening.
The sect not only denied
talks with the
government, but also
described the purported
press statement by one
Abu Muhammad, who
claimed to be the second
in Command to the
sect’s leader, Abubakar
Shekau, as the creation of
the media.
The sect said its position
on dialogue was made
clear in a recent video
address by its leader,
where Mr. Shekau
foreclosed any possibility
of dialogue with the
government, but which it
said many media houses
ignored, but were quick to
publicise the “purported
Meccah meeting”.
The sect recalled that it
was because of such
misrepresentations by the
media that it attacked
Thisday Newspaper,
adding that as far as it is
concerned, “those who
fight us with guns and
those who use pen are
one and the same”.
The sect also said it is
aware that many people
were using its name to
get huge sums of money
under the pretext that
they would “arrange
dialogue with us”.
It called on such fake
intermediaries to “fear
Allah before they get into
the hands of Allah’s
army”.
In the statement, the sect
said since the Federal
Government “lured and
arrested one of our
leaders, Abu Darda who
was sent to dialogue on
our behalf and also
frustrated the one
facilitated by a journalist,
Ahmad Salkida and headed
by Dr. Ibrahim Datti, we
have foreclosed any
possibility of talks with
the government”.
The group says it is
aware Mr. Datti had
entered into a fresh
round of talks with the
government.
It therefore warned Mr.
Datti to “respect his age
and desist forth with”.
The sect added that the
only guarantee to peace
is the full implementation
of Sharia in Nigeria.
“As long as the
government has not put
aside the constitution and
embrace the Holy Quran
as the final law in the
land, government should
stop dreaming of peace
because we will never

A Taiwan
teenager allegedly
stabbed her uncle to
death on Wednesday
because he shut down
her internet to stop
her from staying online
late into the night.
The 19-year-old,
identified only by her
surname Lin, was
taken into custody in
Miaoli County in the
north-west of the
island after she
allegedly stabbed her
uncle in the stomach
with a 29-centimetre
knife, according to the
semi-official Central
News Agency.
Based on their initial
investigation, the police
said the teen was
connecting to the
internet around 2 am
when her uncle shut
the power down. An
argument ensued, and
the teen pulled out the
knife.
The 37-year-old uncle,
whose name was not
released, died of his
wounds in a local
hospital.
Lin’s grandmother,
who also lived in the
home, said the uncle
had a bad temper, and
would shut down the
power of the house
occasionally while Lin
was surfing the web
because he was
annoyed that she
stayed up so late.
A representative from
Miaoli’s prosecutors
office declined to
comment on the case,
but said a murder
conviction in Taiwan

We all love video games
and yes I myself love the
violent ones. But I have
changed my views on that
after being made aware
of the effects it has on
my mind. It is okay to play
video games that are
nonviolent for they do
stimulate the mind and this
is a good thing. But the
violent games of killing
people and monsters
brings about negative
vibrations within our own
aura. It plants the seeds
within our subconscious
mind. This does not mean
that if you play violent
video games that you're
going to go out and kill
someone. It does however
mean that it is planting
seeds of negativity within
your subconscious mind
thus slowing down your
chance of spiritual
progress and keeping
higher vibrating beings
away from you. Thus
attracting lower vibrating
Spirits and Demons. This
also goes for violent and
bloody movies that
portray killing as a glorious
thing. By playing and
watching these sort of
things we attract to us
the negative entities that
thrive on this lower type
of energy. I am not saying
that violent video games
should be banned in any
way shape or form. I am
saying to those of you
who are reading this to
simply understand the
effects it has on your
spiritual growth. It is a
form of brainwashing… a
method of keeping you in
a state of lower
vibrations. For some of
you this may lead to
wanting to join the military
so that you may go and
kill people. For others it
will simply dumb you down
just like the MSG in that
egg roll and fried rice you

live for this shit. I don't
know how you have
existed in the days of my
youth where there were
no cell phones. That was

down and do something
that will make a difference
in this World or in your
life. Once again we have a
device out there (cell
phone) that sucks you in
like a Black Hole and helps
you dummy down some

Music:
Music is a big influence on
people's vibrations and
thought process. Music
can be very brainwashing.
This can be good and this
can be bad. Anyone who
has studied the effects
of music knows that
certain types of music
bring about different
types of feelings. As some
music makes you feel like
you are in love or that
you are heartbroken and
sad… some music such as
New Age music helps you
get in touch with your
higher self and helps to
raise your vibrations. It
actually helps your auric
field and strengthens it.
Then you have hard rock
which once again lowers
your vibrations. Don't get
me wrong… I love hard
rock and always have.
Although I listen to much
less of it these days as
I'm trying to raise my
vibrations. Ask anyone
who is been to War and
they will tell you that they
listen to hard rock before
going into combat. Many of
them listened to a band
known as ”Slayer”. An
excellent hard rock band
they are indeed. But this
type of music brings
about anger, hatred and
aggression. This type of
music gets you pumped up
and ready for aggression.
So I totally understand the
method to the madness
when it comes to listening
to this sort of music
before going into combat.
Even when you watch
commercials for the
Armed Forces you will
hear music by Godsmack. I
have to admit that even
when I watch the
commercials it makes me
feel like joining and going
out to shoot the enemy. I
remember when I played in
a rock band for years I
would listen to extreme
heavy rock music before
going out to play that
night. This would get me
into an aggressive mood.
This is because I would
like to fight with people.
So I know how it affected
me and how I acted in
society. I have since
outgrown that era of my
life. So my point is that
hard rock music affects
your auric field and puts
you into a state of
aggression and negativity
as it is lowering your
vibrations and causing
higher vibrating beings not
to be around you. Then of
course we have Rap
music. So many of you
may like this music and
that is fine also. But this
music also lowers your
vibrations and does
nothing good for your
auric field. It implants
images into your mind that
all women are ho’s and
bitches and that it is okay
to treat women this way.
This music is also filled
with the “N” word
which many black people
think it’s okay for them
to say it simply because
they put the letter “A”
on the end of it instead of
“er”. This simply brings
attention to the word
thus bringing up even
more racial thoughts into

word in music and
everyday life needs to
simply go away. So you
see the effect that this
music has on society by

The other effect that
music has on the
population is that of
creating false idols. You
should be worshiping the

excited and cry when

worship are simply normal

your listening to most of

Koffi Olomide, one of
Africa's most popular
singers, has been given a
three-month suspended
prison sentence for
assaulting his producer.
The rumba star, 56, was
arrested after a fracas
on Wednesday at a hotel
in Kinshasa, the capital of
the Democratic Republic of
Congo.
Correspondents say the
courtroom was packed to
see the star, who leads
the Quartier Latin band.
Olomide this year denied
charges of raping three
of his dancers in France.
The altercation with his
producer, Diego Lubaki,
was over a debt of 3,000
euros ($3,680, £2,345), the
court heard.
'Door damaged'
Mr Lubaki said he wanted
to drop the charges, but
the judge continued the
trial.
"He wanted to withdraw
charges in favour of
social peace and peace
between him and the one
he calls his 'big brother',"
one of his lawyers is
quoted by the AFP news
agency as saying.
The court convicted
Olomide of assault and
battery but acquitted him
of malicious destruction to
property, after the hotel
room door was damaged
in the fight.
