sgzewdie:
I understand and respect the fact that Somalians identify themselves as a Somali and Eritreans identify as Eritreans as I identify as an Ethiopian (habesha). But I don't see what any one from any of this groups have against being BLACK. I see it more like a specification.

Example- I am black, more specifically I am an African, more specifically I am an Ethiopian and I can even mention my specific tribe to people who know of it. But just because I am of a certain tribe, it doesn't mean I'm not an Ethiopian and not an African and not black.

AAs use no other term than BLACK to identify themselves, because unlike us they don't know what country they are from and that is not their fault but the fault of the ones who enslaved them. I don't see why people hate on others who were brutally taken advantage of and praise or take the side of those that hurt them.

Also, it is funny when Somalians PROUDLY say that they have Arab in them, as if it is an achievement. it is like an African American who was mixed in with the white people who enslaved his or her people and still see him or her as nothing more than their demented view of "black" going on proudly ranting about having a white blood in them.

To Somalians-
You people DO know that the reason you are mixed in with Arabs is because they participated in the slavery of your people right?
And that no Arab would say that you are them because you look different from them, so it is not an achievement that you were mixed in with Arabs.

So . . . to everyone who is black but doesn't what to claim it because you look different, pick and chose your sides very carefully. Would you rather be a part of
1. The good people who were taken advantage of because of their kinds (Somalians, Eritreans, most other Africans and African Americans), who see you as their brother/sister the second they lay eyes on you.
or
2. The evil and deceptive ones who took advantage of them (most Caucasian countries) that look at you lowly, because no matter how "different" you may look from other black people, to them you are the same thing as the degraded view they have of any black person.
What makes you think that we share Somalia8's sentiment? Did you even bother reading through this thread?

So to sgzewdie:
We are not mixed, you are the mixed one here (assuming you're Habesha.

1. Egypt never colonised Somalia or any Somali territory. Ethiopia ended up with the Ogaden because of the coward Haile Selassie who begged the British to weaken the Somalis by granting him that region. Par la grâce de Dieu, it will be free one day.

2. I don't want to state the obvious, but we only share a religion with the Arabs. Somalis have never been enslaved by Arabs or any other race and it is plain dumbb to say that we are a bastardd nation born from slavery and rape. Google is indeed your gewadegna.

Not to be homophobic or anything, but everyone knows that before 'Ye was Yeezus, he was Gayfish. You could not watch a single video on anything Kanye without seeing droves of emphatic South Parkians regurgitating the 'gayfish chant' on almost every line of every comment section. It was monstrous, and a dark era in 'Ye-istory (Ick! I said that). I am quite possibly doubting your fandom right now lollll

In a world of propaganda and misinformation. You need to think critically and analytical to arrive at the best truth you can.
I agree but denying that Ebola exists and that it kills people almost on a daily basis in West Africa is abnegating yourself the truth.

Ebola will not kill anybody as it does not exist. The vaccines that they hope to panic Africans into taking is what will kill a great number of people. The vaccines when accepted will kill many millions over the years

Fear mongering, that's what it is. In 1918-1920, the Spanish Flu killed up to 100 million people world wide. The Ebola outbreak has only killed 4600 people in 10 months. The world today is a much smaller place thanks to communication and transportation. I doubt this Ebola outbreak will kill even 10000.

ROSSIKE:
'Great potential' to be WHAT exactly? He TOOK his chance to shine when he was given it. It's not like he could FORCE Real Madrid or Barcelona to sign him, even though at the time they had many far lesser players in their ranks. What were Soldado, Nunez, Alex Perez etc doing at Real Madrid when JAY JAY was around? Those guys were not fit to shine Jay Jay's shoes, yet they were at Real Madrid and Jay Jay was at Bolton. Everyone who watched Okocha play, including TV commentators, ALWAYS wondered why he'd not been signed by those two clubs. Or AC Milan, Man Utd etc. Maybe they couldn't stomach a Nigerian being their MAIN player, As Jay Jay would have been on ANY team including Brazil.

Jay Jay Okocha was the man whom the great Brazilian legend, Mario Zagalo, who played alongside Pele, personally ran across the pitch, as Brazil coach, to shine Okocha's shoes, after the maestro's performance against the Samba boys in Abuja in 2003. He said Jay Jay must be a Brazilian, not a Nigerian!

So what are we talking about? Even Messi hasn't received that type of accolade from any of the world's greats.
Potential to become one of the all time African greats such as Eto'o, Drogba, Weah, Mila, Kanu and Abedi Pele.

Okocha was a great dribbler of the ball but that was it, he played at a mid table club and his individual honours speak for themselves. His main problem was consistency hence why I compared him to Denilson.

Isn't nairaland a site where free minded Nigerians interact? This is not Saudiland or Somalialand......
OK, a free-minded and enlightened Nigerian. That's great! Why are you denying people their right to exchange some knowledge regarding their religion? A free-minded and intelligent person wouldn't need to insult everyone and derail this thread. If you have any questions regarding this topic, there is a sensible way to go about it without being aggressive.

PS: I'm not from Saudi Arabia and the last time I checked this was a multi-national African forum.

What intimidation? No one forced you to comment mate, you could have ignored this thread. It is your problem if you don't agree with Islam, we are not here to change your mind or have a debate with you. This is clearly a beneficial and positive thread so either keep it positive or keep it moving.
