If you continue like this naira would get to #2500 before 2027

Currency is all about confidence, it really doesn't matter what you exchange at... Let just be stable

If I keep 50000 naira in a bank for 6 months and come back and it's worth 30000 naira worth of dollars... I would not want to save in naira again... I would look for dollars to save this drives deman in dollars which in turns makes the naira more unstable ... The circle keeps repeating itself

But if 50000 is worth 50000 with of dollars after 6 months... I can trust naira to save with it, which reduces the demand for dollars with stabilize the naira

So pick a point u can defend and defend it well for 18 months
There are variables that should be taken care of before a currency can be stable and find it's position so when we are ready, the naira will chill at it's spot.

Anyone can claim aby qualifications on a Faceless forum... So I won't bother

Her analysis were based on government provided data

Taking into consideration the rampant printing of naira from thin air, reduced earnings

You can plot the graph easily and extrapolate my figure it's not hard

But it's an opinion n that's it can ever be
Printing of money is never a problem if you know your onion, money is just an instrument. you all should throw away all those wack economic theory. America,China are printing trilliions yet their inflation rate are well under double digit.
Our leaders should use their common sense or go to onitsha business school n get a crash course on buying n selling first. Trying n error is not gonna work

I don't know what metrics he is using but for me naira is over valued at 1300

If I were president I would devalue to #1700 then aggressively defend it there as I would have the liquidity to do so

Key thing is we need to identify key areas we have global comparative advantage.. ( what we can produce cheaper than most part of the world or what we have the potential to produce cheaper than most of the world) and heavily provide credit facility to this sectors

Driving export, increasing for example earnings

If we remove the subsidy on electricity and invest 700bn as loans to bank at 3% interest rate to be given to only players in the cassavacassava/ sweet potato to ethanol industry... I believe we can catapult that industry to a multi billion dollars industry creating millions of jobs and getting our investment in 10 years max
Wait oo, after devaluing to 1700 then you will start defending it again sad what exactly will you be depending.

His words, “The naira is undervalued by 33.58 percent at the parallel market rate of N1,285 per dollar and 4.16 percent at the NAFEM rate of N890.54 percent.”

He shut down the opinion of some analysts that the country needs to spend less, arguing that what the nation needs to do is to spend efficiently and not less.

Brilliant economic analysis many will still struggle to comprehend. Smh.

Keep your naira! Naira is currently undervalued. If you exchange your naira for a USD, you are actually exchanging your wealth for poverty by overpaying for the overvalued US dollar.

Expect a boon in the economy and a massive leap in our national aggregate output. Subsidy removal alone will fetch us about N4 Trillion while free float of the naira fetches Nigeria another N4 trillion, this total N8 trillion would have been converted to US dollars and exported overseas but for the brilliant and patriotic leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

How will increasing minimum wage by 400% tackle inflation?
Honestly i don't know how to explain this to you But for Pete sake.

Remember FG removed subsidy and floated naira which led to the hyper inflation we are experiencing now while minimuim wage is still at the point of where when subsidy n floating of naira commenced.
Prices went as high as 400% because of d 2 variables so for everything to be normal again, you have to increase d minimuim wage to be at par with those variables.

Gboss247:
Increasing the minimum wage by 400% is the way to hyperinflation.
It is not because hou already have your inflation in that region and usually nothing comes down in nigeria.
Also the people at the helm of affairs said that they want to actualize the real value of naira since the floating which has kept it in that current region so your economy can no longer work with a minimuim wage of 30k if naira settles at this level.

The cost of subsidy removal outweighs the benefits. The only way this will start to make meaning is when there is steady power supply. And when we steady power supply it is no longer necessary to subsidize as only rich Nigerians will be needing fuel for their cars.
Steady supply of electricity won't even do any magic at this point unless the minimum wage is increased by over 400 percent so That the purchasing parity of an average nigerian will tally, if not people wont even afford electricity.
The real inflation rate is over 100%.Nigerians are in big shit.

Do you know how many millions of naira CBN spend anytime staff in those departments choose to go to Lagos for their duty? The CBn office in Lagos is under utilized. Of this policy will save the country sizable amount of money then so be it. Why are the staff apprehensive about moving to Lagos if something is not wrong somewhere.
Do you know what it will cost them to relocate that number of staffs n resources. The timing is very wrong,we are suppose to be saving n not wasting the limited resources available.

It is productive activities that grow the economy, boost employment, create wealth, boost forex earnings from exports, etc. Taxation won't do that. Removal of subsidies won't do that. Increase in minimum wage won't do that.

We URGENTLY need robust plan and functional actions towards boosting food and export crop production and processing, protecting and strengthening local industries, incentivising SMEs, boosting sale of Nigerian products to ECOWAS, Africa and other parts of the world.

We need to revive our dying economy.
His economic team where really daft going by those policies.
