PROUD-IGBO:
^^^Spot on!

Onitsha and Nnewi need special funds and attention; not just one or two areas/roads, but the entire towns. A 100 billion naira intervention would be ok for now, and these cities could more than pay for themselves when a conducive enabling environment is created for businesses to thrive.
100 billion naira is about the bugdet of anambra state for a year.the 2013 budget of the state is 110billion.

Lord Naya: Let me also add that the imo palm ltd, imo printing press, and the imo standard shoe factory are doing well. Also, construction of new estates like Nekede Exclusive Garden phase 2, Orlu road estate, Owelle Rochas Estate, Egbu layout and other new layouts in New Owerri are progressing speedily thanks to Gov Rochas. Lets not talk of the developments going on in Imo European University and the Loyola Jesuit University attracted to the state by the Imo state govt. Imolites are really blessed, the state is one of the fastest developing cities in Africa. Ask those who visited Imo last Christmas they would confirm what am saying. Its simply awesome and amazing.

ba7man: Your write-up was too long so i didn't bother to finish reading it. Sit down there and keep lying to yourself. They kill u guys in the north and you direct your anger to the west?? The whole Nigeria knows where you you guys get killed. It happend prior to the civil war and it still continues till date. Rather than seek for a way to stop it, you direct your anger to the west and the "Yabatech thread". Talk of misplaced priority.
yeah like the professors that attempted to jump fence in kano but were slaughtered like pigs.keep deceiving yourselves.

nuclearboy: How many people exactly have died in Kano in those 2 months?

Is it only those 38 Igbos that are human?

How do you think other ethnic groups will feel about you knowing that you see only Igbos as humans?

Tribalism is not a virtue! Someone here said Yorubas are cowards - what does that have to do with this issue? Are you building or burning bridges with such rash statements?

Unfortunately, when the "feedback" of such come back, you start weeping and feeling cheated - its sad you are shooting yourselves in the foot with this attitude
they simply stated their own side.if others are not interested in stating thiers well no one can help that.

I told them the implications of allowing Goodluck Jonathan cooking figures and using them to rig 2011 presidential election. Now the Aboki man I know and lived with for more than 20 years will never rest until the last ibo is exterminated or purged out of northern Nigeria, after reading that ibos constitutes 40% of voting population in Kano.

They said they are 40% of voting population and the Aboki man is all out to clean his environment. 38 people only? Ohanaeze Ndigbo should be proud of this.
and also destroying their economy while at it.would love to see how their economy would end up 10 years later at this rate.

dayokanu: Ten states host 63 percent of all bank branches in Nigeria

E-mail Print PDF

•Banks have 3,190 branches

Ten states in Nigeria host 63 percent of all bank branches in the country. This is based on an analysis contained in the Nigerian Banks Financial Transparency Report 2010. The analysis covers the 14 banks not affected by the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) change of management, quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and which had published their 2009 annual reports.
The analysis shows that the 14 banks analysed have a total of 3,190 branches and cash centres in all the states in Nigeria. State by State analysis however showed that 63 percent of these branches are located in the following ten states: Lagos, Abuja FCT, Rivers, Anambra, Oyo, Edo, Ogun, Delta, Kano and Kaduna.
These states could also easily qualify as the commercial centres in their various regions: Lagos , Ogun, and Oyo in the South -West, Abuja FCT which is Nigeria’s seat of power, Anambra in the South - East, Rivers in the South- South oil states, and Edo and Delta in the former Mid-western region.

Analysis of bank branch locations in the report shows a heavy concentration of bank branches in Lagos with 31 percent of all bank branches in Nigeria. Almost all the banks have a heavy presence in Lagos, a confirmation of its position as the nation’s commercial hub. Access Bank has the highest concentration of its bank branches in Lagos with an average of 40 percent of all its branches, while Unity Bank has the least concentration in Lagos with just 17 percent of all its branches.

Abuja, Nigeria’s political capital, has the second highest concentration of bank branches with just six percent of all bank branches. Rivers State, which could be classified as Nigeria’s oil capital, has the third highest concentration of bank branches with about 5 percent of all bank branches in the country.
Anambra State, the commercial hub of the South- East, has the fourth highest concentration of bank branches.
The bottom four states in terms of bank branch locations in the country were Ebonyi, Kebbi, Jigawa and Zamfara states; each with less than one percent of bank branches in the country in 2009.

PoliticsRe: Imo Egbema Power Plant , Set For 1st Fire Commissioning & Commercial Operations by asha80(m): 7:54pm On Jan 25, 2013
Lord Naya: The level of infrastructural and human developments in Imo state is awesome. The multiplier effects of this power plant coupled with the gigantic 3.5 billion dollars Shell-Chevron gas plant Assa, Oguta port, Imo industrial park Ngor Okpala, 500 million dollars 12 floors heartland shopping mall Owerri, the big 25000 tonnes per day Nsu tiles, 500 units European design and American built Duplexes (Diaspora Village) Ogbaku, and others i can't remember; is not just breath taking but also huge. The government of Imo state is really doing well. Congrats to Ndi Imo State.
what are the evidences that bolded ones are ACTUALLY happening?

ba7man: Forget it, they do kill yorubas in the North but not on this scale. Its obvious...they deliberately search and kill Igbos. You know it, I know it and everyone knows it too. The question should be "WHY??" And "HOW DO WE STOP IT??".....Not "Yorubas are cowards".
and that is why abdusalam said it would the north 20 years to recover from the quagmire they have put themselves in.

He spoke to AIT yesterday with face hidden. When confronted for inquires, you need to see the guilt on the face of the police commissioner. He denied as usual.

PoliticsRe: The Wealthiest States In Nigeria by asha80(m): 12:07pm On Jan 25, 2013
kettykin: Anambra case is exceptional because the Deposit Mobilization is matched by the number of Bank Branches

Anambra has the 4th Largest number of commercial banks and Micro Finance banks the order is as follows Lagos , Abuja , Rivers and Anambra
in Deposit Mobilization Anambra is number 3 After Lagos and Kano

I don't have the details to know how much Kano is bigger than Anambra but some few key points i have noted are the following
Lagos is the most Populous state in Nigeria followed by Kano state .
Lagos gets the highest Federal Allocation while Kano gets the Second highest Federal Allocation in Nigeria apart from the 4 big Oil producing states of Niger Delta (Akwa Ibom,Rivers,Bayelsa,Delta)
Both Lagos and Kano has the highest number of Federal projects because of the high number of House of Rep members in the states and the syndrome of Constituency Projects.
Kano has the highest number of Local Government in Nigeria while Both Cities are the 2 oldest commercial Cities with the Oldest International Airports in the Country.

For Anambra to have made it to number 3 means Anambra has beaten states like Ogun despite it proximity to Lagos and producing Ex 2 Ex head of states (OBJ,Shonekan) 1 who looted Billions of Dollars of the Nations's wealth and has one of the largest farms in Africa which has also produced Enterprenuers like Abiola who at one time was Nigeria's Richest Man and Mike Adenuga whom was touted at a time as Africa's second Richest man some folks believe he is richer than Dangoted.
It has also Beaten Oyo state/Ibadan which some folks mouthed Recently as one of the Cities to watch out for and which some Phantom reports have its GDP as the 3rd Highest in the Country and one of the Largest and most populous Nigerian Cities.
i think for number of micro finance and commercial banks in anambra being fourth in the country is easy to deduce. Lagos = economic capital of nigeria;abuja=free political money flying everywhere;rivers=oil money.
PoliticsRe: The Wealthiest States In Nigeria by asha80(m): 11:10am On Jan 25, 2013
the truth is that the blue collar states seem to have higher level of money exchanging hands.these states are lagos, ogun, kano, borno, anambra and abia.rivers state is the exception here.l

Food for thought ;
What happened to the money set aside for the Nigerian Police in the country's budget since its inception?

Why wasn't the academies taken care of all through the military regime?

Even when the the Military handed over, why didn't the so-called Democratic leaders do something?

There are so many rots in this Country waiting to be discovered. I pray the right people discover them & bring it to limelight. #failedsystem
caled olubolade should account for the money set aside for police affairs since he became minister.

Afam4eva: What the rural areas need is just basic infrastructures like electricity, health care centers, schools and good roads. With this, there will be no need for people from the rural areas to migrate to the urban centers.
if only state governments can do those.
PoliticsRe: Infrastructural Development In Rural Areas by asha80(op): 11:02pm On Jan 24, 2013
passion007: You do raise an important point however. Now I recall how my Aunt used to make gallons and gallons of palm oil, and export them via train up north...this woman was able to pay for her children's university education with her palm oil business-that was the early 90s, before things got so bad.
some of our fathers and mothers got educated while still living in the villages.i do not see the reason while it should change.the place where that american boy went on a shooting spree in a primary or was it nursery school in december last year looked like a rural setting to me.we have to reduce the rural urban migration madness that is bringing about city slums.
