I was just trying to highlight that the present quality of leadership in the SE is very poor compared to other geo-political regions.

That is not to say it has always been like that or will it continue that way.
Apart from lagos what else is happening in the SW?

You listed Oshiomole, what is he doing in edo state?back it up with pictures.

I hope when Chibuike Amechi vies for presidency you will not be the first to say is igbo(because of the name) and therefore he is 'unqualified' since you interchange SE and igbo in ur argurement.

Uduaghan is just chopping money with his godfather ibori.

So you have been to the NE and NW to know that the SE is behind them

Congrats to Obi.

But I dont see why his joy should be that of the masses.

He hasn't made any notable change in four years.

Not even one legacy.

If Lagos can produce Fashola and this is the best the south-east can produce then it would be in the interest of Nigeria if Igbos do not come near Aso rock come 2015

I think the south-south are more ready.
My friend go and sit down with ur inciting comments.

Did anyone say that obi is the best the south east can produce?

Did anyone say that obi is gunning for president 2015?

South South is more ready with which Governor?

He has not made any notable change or legacy have you asked the anambrarian on the street?

Obasanjo a yoruba was in aso rock and i we all saw the 'good works' he did.

yaradua the fulani is in fact the best nigerian president in history.

No big deal, any person that burns down a mosque in retaliation to a church being burnt is a religous fanatic.
My friend provide links to prove igbo christian fundamentalism or keep quiet. At least there more than enough links to prove northern muslim fundamentalism

Writing jesus on burnt mosques in deed abeg provide links and photos.See person wey never cross river niger before.

Legal ko lawyer ni

hahah says who? you think you can tell someone what to do in their own country? you dey mad- if people make their national language yoruba or hausa, they will do it, If they want to tell every non yoruba to leave oduduwa or arewa they will do it. If they make a constitution that only recognises their ethnicity as citizens from then on, they will do it.

If I were igbo and there was to be a oduduwa republic or arewa I wouldnt even stay in any of those countries . . . . I would go live in biafra.

Dont mind the dck head he doesnt understand yoruba people. Hausas-fulanis only use religion to battle with help from other northerner muslim minorities, Fulanis cant do anything in a place where theres no religous fanatics.

All those people who are in north killing people are not all Fulanis or hausas but are Just muslim Northerners from minority tribes- who see it as muslim against christians.

Fulanis cant say or do anything in the Lagos because the only power they have is religion but yoruba muslims arent religous fanatics and are more of tribalist.

What muslim yoruba will help Fulanis carry out anything against yorubas, like the muslim hausas, gwaris, nupe who join fulanis kill in the north? Thats why there hasnt been any religous clashes in the SW because yorubas will not kill a fellow yoruba whether christian, muslim or shango worshipper.

People shouldnt get it fukd up cause I trust yoruba people they are tribalistic and not religous fanatics like the igbo christians and the muslim fulanis-hausas. So when something happens in the SW it quickly turns into yorubas VS everyone. To your average yoruba person -hausa,igbos,ijaws, are all the same.
Bring a link to prove igbo christian fanatics or stop trying to rope igbos with the muslim fundamentalist.

Aisha, you would be making a terrible mistake if you begin to compare the quality of mothers we had in our time with the quality of mothers these days. Ours were mothers that would never spare the cane but today what you get is a bar of chocolate and a pat at the back for behaving badly. Our mothers were considered old fashioned for using the cane while today’s mothers, or should I say parents, are jet age parents who would go to their children’s schools and fight the school authority when a teacher flogs their children. Some would even threaten that they would ensure the particular teacher loses his or her job.
Only God knows what I would have become today had my mother not beaten the stubbornness and laziness out of my life and had my teachers spared the cane. A teacher that refuses to flog my child for behaving badly would not find it funny with me. Whatever the society says about human rights, I would never spare the cane in instilling discipline in my children.
haha jet age parents in deed. grin

98% of candidates fail as NECO releases Nov/Dec results
By Francis Falola, Minna, Published: Wednesday, 17 Mar 2010

The National Examinations Council has released the results of the November/December Senior School Certificate Examinations, with 98 per cent of the 234,682 failing to clinch five credits, including English and Mathematics.

But NECO stated that 4,223 candidates got five credits, including English and Mathematics.

The 4,223 candidates formed about 1.80 per cent of those that sat for the examinations, while Kogi, Bauchi and Ondo led others states in the list of examination malpractices.

The Registrar of NECO, Prof. Promise Okpalla, stated this in his address at the NECO national headquarters in Minna on Tuesday.

He added that 234,682 candidates wrote the examinations out of 245,157 that registered.

He said, “Today, NECO formally announces the results of the 2009 Nov/Dec SSCE which held in 1,708 centres spread across the country.

“Inasmuch as education remains a potent tool for attaining national goals, NECO will remain a veritable instrument for measuring educational attainment at the secondary school level, as standards will not be sacrificed for whatever reasons.”

He mentioned the total number of candidates with five credits and above irrespective of subjects as 12,197, representing about 5.2 per cent of those that sat for the examination.

Okpalla also said that 236,613 cases of examination malpractices were discovered in the examinations.

He said while Kogi topped the list of examination malpractices, the Federal Capital Territory, Abia and Oyo states were ranked lowest in infractions.

He regretted the poor performance of the candidates in the examination, saying that there was the need for stakeholders to intensify efforts in ensuring improvement in candidates’ performance.

Okpalla advised candidates that wrote the examination to visit NECO’s website with the same scratch card used in registering to access their results.

There's nothing like double standards. . . the muslim malams are ready to DIE for their beliefs, but southerners(like me) are too interested in the good things of life hence the 'double standards'.

They want to be goverened like SAUDI ARABIA & are prepared to fight & die for it. !!

The moment all other tribes adopt this ,maybe will have 'equality ' sad
Sorry to add this but i think that attitude is more pronounced in SW nigeria than SS let alone SE.

Too much enjoyment and diplomacy.

Look at the Chinese today, by 2011 they should have claimed the number 1 position even though their population would put their per capita much lower than most european and arab nations. However, the Chinese are focused on their planned achievements and rather than complain all the time, they assess their progress and make improvements.

Nigeria charted a plan to be among the top 20 economies by 2020 and now it's 2010 and we've already reached 33rd position from 59th position earlier in the decade. We're moving rapidly towards our set goal. That is simply what someone is stating and the whole world wants to descend on that fellow. What's wrong with Nigerians?
You must be dreaming.

Thank you for this post, at least the country's ranking has improved and we are still on course to be among the top 20 by 2020.
For those who never want to see or believe anything good in Nigeria e.g Beaf, na_so and co this is  worth acknowledging and together we can take this nation to the promised land. So as we keep acknowledging and highlighting our failures as a nation we really need to also acknowledge where we have made improvements.
A friend of mine just got to Lagos from Benin and couldnt understand how his power supply has improved to the extent  that he was having supply for an average of 18hrs daily for a week and he is still counting.
Someone earlier said our roads have become worse please anybody who travelled from Lagos to Benin last year and have made the same trip in last month, would you agree?
You are judging with one road? What is the guarantee that the road will last through the rainy season?Should roads be even our headache in this day and age?

Yup, so many rivers across the country and teh water levels is favourable in many places

Nigerians are not just patient enough, soooo much money can be made from agriculture but they want now now, most of the challenges have solutions but its not been made attractive enough. everyone wants a white collar, immediate profit job

You will notice the nig time agro-industrialist are old and experienced business men not young ones who have only one thing in their mind
I actually think the reason for the dwindling agriculture in the south is because of the kind of system we are running (too much power at the center)

Yes i know the question is is the north still not involved in agricukture but you have to admit that the north even is producing food at a much lower rate they their potential.

What am i saying. . If we can revert back to regions or maybe a restructure on the kind of systems we are currently running it will be good for everyone in the long run because every region will be 'forced' to look for food or farm on food where it has comparative advantage more than the other regions so as to sustain itself.Let everyone control its resources believe me it will 'force' the regions back to agriculture rather than these handouts from abuja we are practising now.
