There is a reason I said test for spark and fuel. If no spark and fuel, its most likely an immobilizer issue.

Also the absence of spark means the mechanic cannot be suspecting transmission ECU. Otherwise, ECU can be ruled out.

I didnt want to start asking you whether you have immobilizer or not, the way to know for sure is spark and fuel.

If you have an ECU issue and you have an immobilizer, how are you sure that a new ECU will solve your problem?

I still think you need a new competent mechanic.

Mind you, spark and fuel are electrical issues.

Well, you sound quite knowledgeable with regards to car issues.
But can it be possible that spark and fuel could cause the green key sign not to flash on the dashboard when you want to start the car?
Normally, the green key sign flashes momento rally once you insert the key and turn it before the car starts but it doesn't now, hence my car hasn't been starting.
I changed the Relay still the issue wasn't solved.
The guy claims that once we change the gear brain box, the issue would be solved; would still ask him about the Immobilizer though.

I don't think so.

The transmission ECU should be built in the main ECU, albiet, some cars do have a separate transmission ECU

My EOD had water in the ECU, the transmission acted up and while engine ran fine. If EOD doesn't, baby boy shouldn't.

Your mechanic should rule out

1 spark
2 fuel
3 compression
4 timing

If he doesn't know how to check these, find another who does.

Actually, the issue with the car is completely electrical and not mechanical in any way.
Sometimes when you put the key in the ignition and turn it, the green key indicator light will not flash on the dash board and once it did not flash, the car can never start even if you try from now till tomorrow.
We initially thought it was a Transponder issue but in the end it wasnt.
I actually doubted it when he said the gear brain box has issues cos that was the very first time am hearing that until he showed me the one he removed from my car.
He clarified that its not all Honda Acord 1998 models that have it. (Mostly American Spec or so that normally does)

This has resulted to the gear not selecting well.
Please has anyone had that issue and how was it resolved?

I truely shudder when I see some people support this man called Buhari.
Someone whose track record has shown without any doubt that he is totally bereft of ideas when it comes to handling the economy of this country.
One of his die hard loyalists claimed that the current situation in the country is because of slide in price of crude and also due to Covid and I ask, was it also what led to the same economic crises when Buhari was in Power as a military head of state??
It is no happenstance that whenever this man takes over leadership in Nigeria people sufffer, it's simply due to his gross incompetence which Zombies that support has failed or pretended not to see.

My best

We plough the fields and scatter
the good seed on the land,
but it is fed and watered
by God's almighty hand;
he sends the snow in winter,
the warmth to swell the grain,
the breezes and the sunshine
and soft refreshing rain.
All good gifts around us
are sent from heaven above,
then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord
for all his love.

2 He only is the maker
of all things near and far;
he paints the wayside flower,
he lights the evening star;
the wind and waves obey him,
by him the birds are fed;
much more to us his children,
he gives our daily bread.
All good gifts...

3 We thank you, then, O Father,
for all things bright and good,
the seed-time and the harvest,
our life, our health, our food:
accept the gifts we offer
for all your love imparts;
and that which you most welcome,
our humble, thankful hearts.
All good gifts...

DEAR WIFE...

1. If you want your husband to make love to you often, have a good attitude. No matter how sexy you look or dress, your husband will not find you attractive if you have a bad attitude

2. If you want your husband to be eating with you, be pleasant to be around. No matter how tasty your food, it loses taste when being around you is stressful

3. If you want your husband to be opening up to you sensitive and difficult information, learn to keep secrets and not to overreact. A man refrains from sharing too much when he is scared information will be leaked or be misinterpreted

4. If you want your husband to be praying with you, stop acting as if your prayers are more powerful or you are closer to God than him. Allow your husband to pray his kind of way

5. If you want your husband to be taking you out often, stop bringing drama and ruining dates with issues that should be dealt with at home. No man wants to go spend time and money at a venue where he will be emotionally drained

6. If you want your husband to solve the issues in your marriage, stop seeing yourself as the angel and him the devil, stop attacking him or labelling him as "The agent the devil is using to ruin your marriage". See also your fault, show him you are on the same team and seek solutions, not finger pointing

7. If you want your husband to come home early, be peaceful. The wife tends to own the home and so can easily make the husband keep off if she becomes harsh, uninviting and combative

8. If you want your husband to be chatting with you and calling you up, be fun to talk to, make him miss you. If each time he calls you or chats you up it ends up with you starting a fight, reminding him of his wrongs or ordering him around he will avoid communication with you

9. If you want your husband to receive your suggestions and corrections then speak to him with a tone of love. If you come at him shouting, dictating at him or manipulating him he will harden up.

You have said it all

Phones / Re: How To Change Your Whatsapp From A Normal Account To A Business Account by ashala(m): 6:22pm On Jul 18, 2020
postbox:

Like millions of people around the world, you probably use WhatsApp on your phone every day to stay in touch with your friends and family members. However, there is one more side of WhatsApp that can be very useful to business owners, social media marketers, and more.

We are talking about WhatsApp Business and here is everything you need to know.

1. What Is WhatsApp Business

WhatsApp Business is a subdivision of regular WhatsApp that was unveiled as a standalone app in 2018. WhatsApp Business gives business owners another opportunity to become closer to its customers and maintain their online presence.

The three most popular ways to use WhatsApp Business are informing the customers about new promotions and products, giving them a look behind the scenes with WhatsApp stories, and providing speedy customer support.

WhatsApp Business has many advantages for business owners compared to regular WhatsApp.

First, you get a verifiable business profile where you can choose a profile picture and add contact information to help customers get in touch with you easier.

Second, you can use Broadcast Lists and automatic responses to make communication with customers more effective.

Third, there are stats for your posts that you can use to measure the efficiency of your communication methods.

2. How To Switch To A WhatsApp Business Account

If you run a business or work in marketing and want to use one more channel to reach out to your customers, you will need a WhatsApp account. You can download it independently or switch your regular WhatsApp account to a WhatsApp Business account. Here is how to do it.

Back up your WhatsApp data by going to the app’s settings and selecting the necessary options to save your chats in the cloud storage.Go to Google Play Store on Android phones and the App Store on iOS devices. Search and download the WhatsApp Business app to your phone for free.Launch the WhatsApp Business app. Review and accept the Terms of Service to continue.WhatsApp will automatically identify your mobile phone number, so all you need to do is make sure it’s correct and move on to the next steps. The app will then begin the migrating process where your data will be moved from the standard WhatsApp account to a Business WhatsApp account. Keep the app open while it’s happening, as you may be prompted to allow the app to download backed up data or confirm other queries.Give the necessary permissions to WhatsApp Business, which includes contacts and media.Sign up as a WhatsApp Business user with your business name, profile picture, and the right business category.Go to Settings -> More options -> Business tools -> Business profile to boost your WhatsApp Business profile. Fill out the description of your company, other contact options, working hours, and business address.Once your WhatsApp Business is set up, you can begin your first chat. Tap the icon to write a new message, select the contact, and begin composing your message. Tap Send when you’re done to deliver your message to the recipient.

Lol, this reminds me of a movie I watched so many years ago.

Exactly like what happened here, one guy was making advances at a particular girl who declined because she had a boyfriend who was also treating her with utmost disdain.

Despite how badly this girl's boyfriend treated her, she still loved him. This continued until he got her pregnant and abandoned her.

This girl out of heartbreak went to abort the baby and nearly died in the process. While on her sick bed, with tears in her eyes she called the other guy who had been trying to win her over and he rushed to her side like king Arthur, ready to slay 100 dragons for her.

The Mugu took her in, spent a lot of money and nursed her back to health. After some months, the old boyfriend started disturbing her, telling her that he wanted her back.

Believe it or not, this girl left the Mugu that was there for her during her trying times and moved back to the abusive boyfriend.

Any lesson learnt

How can I ever forget that night in 2005.

I was a corper serving in Jigawa State, Dutse to be precise. On that fateful day, I was supposed to travel to Abuja to see my cousin who lived in Gwagwalada then . I wasted a lot of time with my friends which made me travel late in the evening. My guys even warned me to postpone the trip to the next day but I was very obstinate, insisting that I must go that evening.

I got to the park and to worsen things, our bus took time to fill up.

We finally left , driving through Kano, Kaduna and finally getting to Abuja very late in the night.
This was were my problems started. I couldn't see a single bus going to Gwagwalada as they had all stopped due to the time.

See me nah, I be corper wey no get money to lodge for hotel. I became totally confused with no inkling of what to do.

Finally, I came to a conclusion and decided to go to the nearest Police station to see if they will allow me spend the night there.
At the police station, the police men rejected all my pleas insisting that I might be a robber who disguised as a corper in order to attack them later in the night.

I had no other option than to leave dejectedly resolving to accept my fate. But luckily for me, as I was leaving their compound, a police man at the gate called me back and offered to allow me sleep on a bench inside the compound. I happily slept on top of that Bench with mosquitoes singing in my ears till morning.

That night will always remain indelible in my memory. If only I can see that policeman that helped a young broke corper then, the way I will reward him eh.

Health / Re: Comparison Of Covid-19 To Past OUTBREAKS by ashala(m): 1:34pm On Apr 05, 2020
So, when will things calm down with COVID-19?

According to Schleiss, it’s going to take herd immunity — which basically blocks out the virus when a large chunk of the population is immune from already being sick — along with an effective vaccine.

“We really, really need a vaccine,” he said, adding that because the Food and Drug Administration will need to prove a vaccine is safe, it could take a year or two — best case scenario.

We also have a lot more we need to learn: the prevalence of the infection along with how you contract the virus and all the different roads of transmission.

Until then, we’re going to need to practice social distancing to help minimize the number of people who contract it, says Johnson.

We’ll need to work together to limit exposure to one another — especially with older adults and people with underlying illness who have the greatest risk of developing severe symptoms.

We don’t need to panic. Remember: The vast majority of COVID-19 cases are mild. But we do need to take action to contain the spread and protect those who are most vulnerable.

The bottom line

COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, isn’t the first threatening disease that’s surged around the world — nor will it be the last.

2014–2016 Ebola

Ebola was extremely deadly, killing up to 50 percent of those who got sick. But because it predominantly spread through bodily fluids like sweat and blood during the last stages of the disease, it wasn’t as contagious as COVID-19.

Plus, because symptoms were so severe, health officials were able to quickly identify those who’d been in contact with people who had it and isolate them.

“You don’t have relatively healthy people with the [Ebola] virus walking around shedding the virus — going on the bus, going shopping, going to work — like we do with this,” Johnson said.

Key symptoms: fever, aches and pains, weakness, diarrhea, vomiting
First detection: first patient identified December 2013 in Guinea; first outbreak March 2014Trusted Source
Global cases: 28,652 casesTrusted Source across 10 countries
Global deaths: 11,325 deaths; death rate was about 50 percentTrusted Source
Transmission: spread through bodily fluids (blood, sweat, feces) and close contact; most contagious toward end of disease
Most affected groups: 20 percentTrusted Source of all cases occurred in children
Treatment available: none; supportive care was provided, including IV fluids and oral rehydration
Vaccines available: none
End of outbreak: March 2016Trusted Source
Novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

Early evidence shows COVID-19 may be more contagious than the flu.

And some early reports say COVID-19 may have a higher death rate than the seasonal flu. But we may soon find out it’s less deadly than initial reports since so many people with COVID-19 have mild symptoms or are asymptomatic and therefore don’t see a doctor and are largely unaccounted for.

“The death rate really is something we just have to take with a grain of salt until we have enough information,” Johnson said. This is a rapidly evolving situation, and numbers and estimates are likely to change as we learn more.

Key symptoms: cough, fever, shortness of breath; 80 percent of cases are mild
First detection: December 2019 in Wuhan, China
Global cases to date: Over 127,000 cases
Global deaths to date: Over 4,700; the global death rate is estimated at 3.4 percentTrusted Source, but certain areas are seeing a death rate of just 0.4 percent
Transmission: spreads through respiratory droplets along with feces and other bodily secretions; each person passes it to 2.2 others which will likely fall as containment and quarantine efforts increase
Most affected groups: adults over 65 with underlying health conditions; children seem to be spared and are experiencing milder symptoms (in China, children account for just 2.4 percent of cases)
Treatments available: none; supportive care is provided, pain relievers and fever reducers can alleviate symptoms, and antibiotics can help treat secondary bacterial pneumonia and antivirals used with other viruses are being administered to help with recovery
Vaccines available: none yet; a vaccine will likely be ready in about one year.

1918 influenza

The 1918 Spanish flu epidemic was the deadliest flu season we know of, infecting about one-third of the world’s population.

“The 1918 pandemic strain of influenza was new and novel for most people under the age of 40 or 50, but that’s where the death rate really was high — that’s different than the usual flu,” said Dr. Mark Schleiss, a pediatric infectious disease specialist with the University of Minnesota.

Back then, scientists didn’t know viruses caused disease, and we didn’t yet have a vaccine or antivirals to help prevent or treat influenza, nor did we have antibiotics to treat secondary bacterial infections.

Life was also very different back then — for one, we were in the middle of a war and soldiers carried the virus with them all over the world. People were also living in very crowded conditions and had extremely poor hygiene — this helped the disease build and build, according to Johnson.

Key symptoms: fever, nausea, aches, diarrhea
First detection: March 1918
Global cases: 500 million
Global deaths: over 50 million (675,000 in the United States); the death rate was around 2 percent
Transmission: spread through respiratory droplets
Most affected groups: otherwise healthy adults ages 20 to 40
Treatments available: none; antibiotics or antivirals did not yet exist
Vaccines available: none
End of pandemic: summer 1919; mostly due to deaths and higher immunity levels

Seasonal flu

The flu strikes every year, but no two seasons are exactly the same.

Because strains mutate each year, it can be hard to predict what will hit. Unlike COVID-19, we have effective vaccines and antiviral medications that can help prevent and reduce the severity of the flu.

Additionally, many people have residual immunity to the flu from years past, as our bodies have seen the flu before.

We don’t have any immunity to COVID-19, and it appears to be more contagious and fatal than the flu so far, but this could very well change as we learn more.

Key symptoms: fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue
Global cases annually: 9 percentTrusted Source of the population, or about 1 billion infections (up to 5 million of which are severe)
Global deaths annually: between 291,000 to 646,000Trusted Source; death rate around 0.1 percent
Transmission: spreads through respiratory droplets; each diagnosed person passes it to 1.3 persons
Most affected groups: older adults and people with compromised immune systems
Treatment available: antiviral medications (Tamiflu, Relenza, Rapivab, Xofluza) to reduce duration and severity of flu
Vaccines available: there are many vaccine optionsTrusted Source available that provide immunity against multiple strains of influenza

2002–2004 severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)

SARS is another type of coronavirus that came out of China and spread quickly through respiratory droplets. Though the SARS death rate was higher than COVID-19, COVID-19 has already claimed more lives.

According to Johnson, contact tracingTrusted Source — or monitoring people in close contact with those who contracted it — was really effective with SARS, largely because symptoms were severe and therefore easier to identify and contain.

In addition, Schleiss said the SARS virus didn’t have the “fitness to persist in the human population,” which eventually led to its demise.

Schleiss added this doesn’t seem to be the case with COVID-19, which seems to be able to spread and thrive in the human body.

Overall, though SARS’ death rate was higher, COVID-19 has led to “more fatalities, more economic repercussions, more social repercussions than we [had] with SARS,” Johnson said.

Key symptoms: fever, respiratory symptoms, cough, malaise
First detection: November 2002 in Guangdong province of China
Global cases: 8,098 casesTrusted Source across 29 countries; 8 U.S. cases
Global deaths: 774; 15 percent mortality rate; no U.S. deathsTrusted Source
Transmission: spread through respiratory droplets and contaminated surfaces
Most affected groups: patients 60 and older had a 55 percent higher death rate
Treatment available: no treatment or cure, but antiviral medications and steroids worked for some people
Vaccine available: a vaccine was ready around the time the pandemic was already ending
End of pandemic: July 2003Trusted Source

2009 (H1N1) flu pandemic

Back in 2009, a new type of flu — an H1N1 strain — popped up and people panicked because we didn’t have a vaccine and the novel strain was spreading fast.

Like COVID-19, there was no immunity at the start of the outbreak. We did have antivirals to facilitate recovery, and by the end of 2009, we had a vaccine which — combined with higher levels of immunity — would provide protection in future flu seasons.

Still, it claimed over 12,000 lives in the United States.

Key symptoms: fever, chills, cough, body aches
First detection: January 2009 in Mexico; April 2009Trusted Source in United States
Global cases: about 24 percent of global population; 60.8 million U.S. cases
Global deaths: over 284,000; 12,469 in the United States; death rate was .02 percent
Most affected groups: children had the highest rates; 47 percentTrusted Source of children between 5 and 19 developed symptoms compared to 11 percent of people ages 65 and up
Treatment available: antiviralsTrusted Source (oseltamivir and zanamivir); most people recovered without complications

Vaccine available: H1N1 vaccine research started April 2009 and a vaccine became available December 2009
End of pandemic: August 2010.
Health / Comparison Of Covid-19 To Past OUTBREAKS by ashala(m): 1:20pm On Apr 05, 2020
Here’s How COVID-19 Compares to Past Outbreaks

SARS, the 1918 flu pandemic, and Ebola have all helped public health officials prepare for major outbreaks.
Each major outbreak is different though, and experts have a hard time predicting how they will end.
The fallout of each disease largely depends on other circumstances — when we catch it, how contagious and fatal it is, how hygienic people are, and how quickly a vaccine or cure becomes available.
All data and statistics are based on publicly available data at the time of publication. Some information may be out of date. Visit our coronavirus hub and follow our live updates page for the most recent information on the COVID-19 outbreak.

With new cases of the new coronavirus disease, COVID-19, growing day by day, it’s natural to compare the new disease to other outbreaks in recent history.

There was the 1918 influenza, for example, that infected nearly a thirdTrusted Source of the world’s population before it fizzled out.

Then came other threatening viruses that appeared out of nowhere: severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), the H1N1 influenza in 2009, and Ebola.

Eventually, we got a handle on all of them.

But the fallout of each disease largely depends on other circumstances — when we catch it, how contagious and fatal it is, how hygienic people are, and how quickly a vaccine or cure becomes available.

The death rate isn’t the only determining factor regarding how devastating and deadly a pandemic will be, according to Dr. Christine Kreuder Johnson, a UC Davis professor of epidemiology and ecosystem health and researcher on USAID’s Emerging Pandemic Threats PREDICT project.
