Was about opening my second bottle of bourbon for the day, when I thought about writing a quick guide to communicating securely in Nigeria (a country that detests free speech).

It's no longer news that the Nigerian government can track you down and lock you up if you speak against them. I would like to explain how to secure your communications (but I guess this will be more useful for activists) and the methods I recommend.

The tldr is simple: Use Tor, use Signal -- unless your life depends upon them.

If your life depends upon the security of your communications, then there is no substitute for learning how these things work. Experts might also use Tor and Signal -- but not in the ways naive users would that would expose their privacy. Experts might use something else... If you wait until your life depends upon it (such as when you've suddenly decided to take up arms against the Nigerian government), then it's probably too late. The government will already have access to all the communications records up to that point.

"But EvilSec, how are you sure they have access to comm records up to that point??"
Well it's simple. The phone company keeps a record of all SMS messages and calls indefinitely. Even if both sides delete the messages or calls from their phones, all SMS messages and calls are preserved and searchable by the government and they don't even need a warrant.

Thus, you should be using privacy protecting technologies now, such as the Brave browser (when not using Tor), Signal/WhatsApp/iMessage for routine communications, and so on. Signal (and some others) use end-to-end encryption, meaning it's impossible for anybody in between to eavesdrop on your messages/call -- not even Signal itself. But this does not protect the ends. If you've been tricked into installing malware on your phone, the malware is on the "end" and thus can eavesdrop on anything that end does. Nor does it protect metadata. Eavesdroppers can't know the contents of a phonecall, but will know that you are using Signal, and will often know who it is you are calling.

Also remember that your phone is a GPS tracker. Your phone keeps a log of its own location to an accuracy of a few feet. The nearby celltowers keep records of your location with varying accuracy which can often be less than 20 feet, but is usually more like 500 feet. Your phone updates its log every few minutes, so if they get your phone from you and run forensics, they can draw map where you've been. Celltower records update much less frequently.

So stay safe out there everyone and I hope you learnt a thing or two from this.

Please don’t let anybody twist your brain and stop allowing politics to give you reasoning disabilities. If a school has authorized you to engage third party vendors to design your replacement certificate and you do so, that is not called forgery!

Thanks for the prompt response. So we pay 30k to UPS for each applicant so that payment is for both taking the passport for stamping and delivering right? What if I want them to only take the passport for visa stamping and I want to pick up myself?

They won’t need to pay since it’s Abuja they had der biometrics. If they’re picking up no extra charges, if they want home delivery Dey will pay 30k+ to vfs courier.

Thank you very much for the detailed response. They did their biometric in 2018 in Abuja, are we expected to pay transmission fee since we are submitting to Abuja, or what other fees apply to their situation?

I need clear guidance on passport submission for visit visa for my Parents in Law. There is a link on the PPR letter that explains a new way to submit passport by either scheduling on phone, online or email but all efforts to reach them through all of these means have proved abortive! Biometrics was done in Abuja in 2018 when they got their first visa. But I am seeing some posts about submitting using Fedex. Please we need a clear submission process

You can change the gasket and continue to enjoy the car, provided you give a very good mechanic who knows how to set timing belt (this is very important) Mind you, don't give any road side mechanic. I will recommend Gazzuzz. He has a proper workshop in Lagos. He is also on Nairaland as Gazzuzz

I learnt the concept of each topics but using them on ALX tasks prove rather difficult

It is very possible. When I did mine in 2019 at one health centre in Yaba (across Dominos) it was free. The guy just did the test and told me I was negative. I wasn't given any paper result and when I asked he told me they only announce.

I am about to submit my passport for stamping and I have been seeing a particular link here to download a consent form, that 2 copies will be required to be filled and submitted with it. But when I did my biometrics, I was given something that looks like a consent form (see attached) together with photocopy of my passport data page and a slip. My question is do I still have to download and fill 2 copies of this consent form or what I was given after biometrics suffices?

El-rufai was a victim of power play in APC. he just realised he has to pitch his tent with asiwaju since buhari camp didn't give him the relevance he wanted.

Again after el rufai leaked buni plan, and boasted on TV buni has been sacked cant return as chairman of caretaker comittee , Buhari eventually returned buni. That was when he realised he had to switch loyalty.

He also tried form a dynasty in Apc with Badru, bagudu,fayemi,buni, and lalong unfortunately Buni outsmart all of them, and they eventually scattered.

Badru and el rufai has dumped the group and have silently moved to asiwaju caucus.

Fayemi is now on a solo run now in the party, just like yahaya bello. La long will likely move to Ameachi camp.

Bagudu might also jump ship to asiwaju camp.

I sent my dad's passport to VFS Abj for his visa. The package was not accepted by VFS and sent back to us.
Does anyone have an idea of why it was VFS would not accept the package? he did his biometrics in Lagos and I paid the transmission fee (sent to Abj because the Abj office is fast). it was sent through Red Star Express courier could that be the reason? just trying to figure out what happened so we do not make the same mistake again.

The meaning of the second reason is, from the information she supplied, they have noticed that there is nothing in Nigeria that will make her want to come back to Nigeria, for instance, husband and kids, booming business etc. Again, they also noticed that she will be too comfortable to want to leave Canada because the person she wants to visit is a close relative and is capable of accommodating her for as long as possible. Therefore, she needs to show and prove that there is an important obligation that requires her presence that will surely bring her back to Nigeria

This is not the first time this type of judgment is coming. Still, embassies will not recognise certificates from LGs. The LGs are only fighting for their pockets.

I am a PR, and we submitted a visitor visa application for my wife on June 30th. When we received an update that all those who applied before Sept 7th should reapply, we also reapplied for her on Sept 9th
Yesterday Nov 9th she got a passport request.

PS: both applications were through the old portal but it is the most recent one they approved exactly 2 months after we submitted it.

The process for passport submission is not clear in the PPR pdf and on VFS global's website. Anyone here who just submitted their passport and is kind enough to explain how they did it?

My guy they don't touch that inner shaft in gear anyhow. That thing can only be done after cooling over night in a very neat environment by a professional mechanic with transmission oil changed as well. Just go and buy a new transmission. But before then, scan the car and share codes here
