WE ARE COMMITTED TO MAKING ONDO AMONG FOOD BASKETS OF THE NATION - GOV AKEREDOLU

•Commissions 18 Units Of SEM-919 Motor Grader

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has said the state can be among the food baskets in the country if its potentials are fully harnessed.

Governor Akeredolu spoke on Thursday during the commissioning of 18 units of SEM-919 Motor Grader for the use of the 18 Local Government Councils in the State.

The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun; Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale; Special Adviser to Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties, Mr. Dare Aragbaiye; Commissioner for information and Orientation, Mr. Donald Ojogo, other members of the state executive council; APC leaders, all the 18 local government chairmen, traditional rulers, religious leaders, top government officials among several other dignitaries.

The Governor said one of his administration's policy thrusts encapsulated in the REDEEMED Agenda is Rural and Agricultural Development.

He added that meaningful development can only be achieved in the rural areas when adequate infrastructure is put in place.

“Infrastructure is, therefore, the bedrock of development of any society. Essentially, rural infrastructure encompasses among others, rural roads, water supply and electricity.

“Ondo State, no doubt, is an agrarian society. Our belief, therefore, is that if our potential is adequately harnessed, the State can be among the food baskets in the country.

"This informed our decision to make rural and agricultural development as well as provision of massive infrastructure part of our key programmes. Since the inception of our administration in 2017, tremendous efforts have been made in areas of provision of rural water and electricity across the State.

“The State equally bought into the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) which focuses on rehabilitation of rural roads and associated capacity building of institutions with the mandate to provide and maintain rural transport infrastructure. The State has completed all its paper work and the programme will soon fully take off,” the Governor said.

Governor Akeredolu disclosed that each local government council will have one grader, noting that rentage of graders by the council chairmen to grade rural roads has now become a thing of the past.

He called for proper use and deployment of the equipment, particularly in grading rural roads to ensure easy movement of farm produce to the urban areas and reduce the cost of foodstuffs.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Sheik Yayi Akorede and the Chairman, Ondo State Council of Obas, Oba Frederick Akinruntan represented by Jegun of Ile-Oluji, Oba Oluwole Adetimehin, lauded the Governor for providing good leadership in the state, even as they encouraged him to continue his good work in the interest of the state.

MOVE TO RESTORE POWER TO ONDO SOUTH EXCITES GOV. AKEREDOLU

•Power To Be Restored Within The Next One Month - Consultant

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Aketi SAN, has expressed happiness over the fruitful efforts to restore power to the southern senatorial district of the state after over eleven years of power outage in the area.

Governor Akeredolu spoke in his office on Wednesday while playing host to the Ondo South Power Project Committee headed by the Abodi of Ikale, Oba George Faduyile.

The Governor, while appreciating the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, noted the efforts of the Executive Director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) Engineer Ifeoluwa Oyedele who he said worked with him to secure the support of the Vice-president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to fulfill the promise made to the people to bring back light to the area.

He stressed that the power outage in the Southern senatorial district of the state has always been a major concern for his administration and the Vice President.

The Governor said:”Nobody is happy that the South has been in darkness for so long. But it is not a thing within the power of what the state can do. What the state can do is to mount pressure on those who are in charge.”

''As you know, we have our Ore Power Plant which belongs to the state. It is getting ready as the all pipes for gas supply are being laid. We will get one leg to supply light to the South and the other leg to supply light to the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo'', he said.

Briefing the Governor, the Chairman of the Ondo South Power Project Committee, Oba Festus Olumoyegun, the Oniju of Iju-odo, said tremendous progress have been made in reconnecting the district to the national grid.

Oba Olumoyegun said power transmission to the area will be gotten from Omotosho Transmission Company of Nigeria.

Also the Abodi of Kale who is also the Chairman of Ondo South Power Project, Oba George Faduyile, appreciated the Governor Akeredolu and Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele for their concerted efforts at getting the south out of darkness.

Earlier, the consultant for the power project, Engr. Idowu Desmennu said despite the long journey of about two and a half years, a success story has been recorded already.

He said by the end of November, power will start to radiate in Ondo South.

Engr. Desmennu said:”We have met with NDPHC, we have signed power purchase agreement with the community and the NDPHC. By the grace of God, by Friday, we are going to pay N371Million as security deposit for power we are taking from South.

“ We have over 10,000 prepaid meters that we are ready to take off with. Our program there is also involving different value chains . Transformer value chain, different. Transmission, different.

“Now , in Okitipupa and Irele local government areas, none of the transformers are working except three in Okitipupa. We are going to replace all the transformers so that they can have electricity. Where we don’t have enough, we put there. Where we have bad ones we change them. Because without these things it can’t work.

“Now, there are some areas where there are no network, we have planned to do it. I want to tell you that from the day we started, we have not collected a kobo from Ondo South and we will not collect a kobo until after three months when the power start to roll expect their recharge cards and our recharge cards start from N300 the hereby an individual who wants to use N100 a day can buy recharge card and use.

“It’s a new thing and all thanks to Engr. Ife Oyedele who availed us the opportunity of the 5% of power being generated In Omotosho power plant that can come to the community. We pleaded for it and the community is now distributing it.

“By today, TCN has been given the instruction to give us all the support we need. And I believe between 15th and 30th of November power will start to radiate and by December and January, we will be welcoming you and the Vice President to come and commission the project.”

Challenge the Post No Debit Order on Your Bank Accounts in Court, Akeredolu tells #EndSars Promoters

Says "CBN can freeze any account on court order but the court of law is there to de-freeze same accounts"

Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye
Wednesday 11th November, 2020

The Governor of Ondo State and a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on Wednesday advised some supporters of recent EndSARS Protest whose Bank Accounts were frozen by the Central Government of Nigeria through the Central Bank (CBN) to challenge the matter in court if they feel their accounts was unlawfully frozen or they were unjustly accused.

Akeredolu, who is the Chairman of the Western Nigeria Governors Forum, said the CBN acted in line with the provisions of the law to freeze the accounts, but the owners of the account should approach the court to challenge the decision by proven that the accusations slammed against them by the CBN to warrant the freezing of their accounts, are misguided and fallacious.

Speaking when he was a guest on Channels TV Breafast Show, Sunrise Daily, the Owo Born legal luminary who recently secured another term in office, urged the account owners to table their bank transactions before the court and explain the motives of their transactions to disclaim the allegations of the CBN that they were promoting terrorism.

“Speaking very honestly, I don’t see anything wrong in it. If for instance, my account was frozen, what would I do? All I would do is go back to court to explain. The #EndSARS promoters should do that.

"Even politicians, their accounts are sometimes frozen. You have to go to court and explain. And at the end of the day, the court will say, ‘Leave the account. The account should be de-frozen’ and you take your money back.

“If your account is frozen, you justify why the money was there. You come to explain to what use you have put this money.

“If it is that ‘okay, we used this money to pay this caterer to give food to these boys when they were there. We spent money between before the hoodlums took over,’ it will be explained, people will know and the accounts will be de-frozen.

Akeredolu equally downplayed insinuations that the protesters are being charged for a treasonable offence.

“It is just that we (CBN) suspected this account then the owner of the account will explain,” he said, stressing that it “is not a conclusion that those accounts were used for acts of treason.”

Some of the EndSars Supporters whose accounts were frozen include Bolatito Racheal Oduala, Chima David Ibebunjoh, Mary Doose Kpengwa, Saadat Temitope Bibi, Bassey Victor Israel, Wisdom Busaosowo Obi, Nicholas Ikhalea Osazele, Ebere Idibie, Akintomide Lanre Yusuf, Uhuo Ezenwanyi Promise and Mosopefoluwa Odeseye.

Others are Adegoke Pamilerin Yusif. Umoh Grace Ekanem, Babatunde Victor Segun, Mulu Louis Teghenan, Mary Oshifowora, Winifred Akpevweoghene Jacob, Victor Solomon, Idunu A. Williams, and Gatefield Nigeria Limited.

I'm preparing Ondo for zero-oil economy - Akeredolu

Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye
Thursday 8th October, 2020

The Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on Wednesday, said the major focus of his second term administration will be to re-direct the state towards a zero-oil economy, if he's reelected by the people.

He also said all machinery has been put into place and barring last minute hitch, electricity power will be restored to all towns and villages in the Ondo South Senatorial District before the end of his first term in February 2021.

The Governor, who spoke during a debate organized by Channels TV at the State International Events Center (The DOME), Akure, the state capital on Wednesday, said the first term of his administration has been used to drive the state towards the path of industrialisation, adding that with the Ondo Port Declaration expected to be declared soon by President Muhammadu Buhari, hunger shall soon be a thing of the past in the state.

"By the grace of God, the Sunhine Egg Powder currently belong constructed at Emure-Ile, Owo, shall be completed before the 100 days of my second term. That company will employ 5,000 people and all the current and prospective poultry owners in Ondo State shall have a ready-made market to sell their products.

"Throughout the world, have you ever seen a state or region or nation that has a sea port that is poor? By the grace of God, Ondo Port Declaration shall be made before my 100 days in office, and that marks the end of extreme poverty in our state.

"I appeal to the people of this state to vote for me. I want to complete the Ikare-Akoko township dualization. I do not want it abandoned. I want to complete other road projects across the state. I want the road from Araromi in Ilaje to Lekki in Lagos to be completed under my reign.

"My major interest is to leave an Ondo State that has zero reliance on oil economy. That is what I am preparing this state for. I urge the people of this state to choose between enduring legacy and stomach infrastructure. I want to work for today, tomorrow and forever. I have started it already.

"By the grace of God, power shall be restored to all the towns and communities in Ondo South before the end of my first term. The agreement has been signed and Niger/Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is involved.

"We are building a prosperous state. The election is not about me but about the future of our state. Late Olusegun Agagu started this investment and industrialisation drive but we didn't allow him, we voted for the people with sweet mouth, now I am restarting all over again, please let's vote wisely on Saturday," Akeredolu, said.

“The renaming of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) after Agagu is enough for me to follow Aketi. We have used our money to train him. He has the experience of governance. We don’t want experiment

“That University for eight years after Agagu, was like a goat house. It was abandoned. We know those who abandoned it. Now, they want to choose a governor for us in the south

NANS COMMENDS GOV AKEREDOLU GIANT STRIDES, SAYS HIS RE-ELECTION CERTAIN

...Gov. Set To Reduce Tuitions In State Owned Institutions

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has declared its support for the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, stating that his performance across the state is impressive.

The student body led by its President, Comrade Danielson Bamidele commended the gaint strides recorded across the various sectors of the state by the Akeredolu administration.

The leadership of NANS spoke on Wednesday evening during a courtesy visit to the Governor’s office , Alagbaka , Akure , the state capital.

The student body leadership led by its President has been in the state for three days, where they have embarked on inspection and monitoring of the Governor’s projects.

Speaking, the former Senate President of NANS, Olalekan Smart Edward said Governor Akeredolu’s projects are speaking for him within and outside the state.

He said:”Your projects are speaking for you. President Buhari has commendations for you. APC has commendations for you. Outsiders have commendations for you. And we agree that there must be consistency in development. Governor Akeredolu is doing well.”
In his remarks, the NANS President, Comrade Danielson Bamidele said the national delegation of the student body has been in the state for three days for inspection and monitoring of the Akeredolu administration projects, adding that the Governor has done creditably well.

He described the road projects executed by the Akeredolu administration as quality, stressing that that Governor has embarked on enduring projects.

The NANS President appreciated Governor Akeredolu for his interventions at the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OAUSTECH) which he said, has turned the school around for good.
He equally appealed to the Governor to reconsider the tuition payable in the state owned institutions in the state.

Responding, Governor Akeredolu who said students are important to his administration, disclosed that he had instructed his team to find out the tuition payable in other state owned institution so as to know what step to take on the reduction of tuition in the state.

He said:”Students are important to us. It will take all of us to sit down to have this discussion about tuition. It’s not a discussion of the deaf. All of us will be hearing. A time when you go to Abuja and take N9 million as against when you go to Abuja now and get far less and you have to pay salary.

“Unlike somebody that decided not to pay for seven months. I met seven months salary arrears and I have paid six. So I prioritized the workers’ welfare. We shore up our IGR to spend more on infrastructure. I note what you have raised on this issue of fee.
“At my last meeting, I have said let me have where they are paying less than what we charge here. What we found out was that for those newly admitted, we still charge the lowest in tuition but for the second year and all, we have state owned institutions that charge lesser then us. And if not for this issue of Covid, we have decided to reduce it. We will reduce it.

“It’s not a matter for political gains. I know by the time we announce it they will turn it to political gains. We will make sure that by next week we make the announcement on the fee.

ABANDONING PROJECTS A TOTAL DISGRACE TO GOVERNANCE, DISSERVICE TO THE PEOPLE -AKEREDOLU

• Akeredolu Architect of Modern Day OAUTECH, Pace Setter - VC

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Aketi, SAN, on Thursday, lamented the array of abandoned projects initiated by the late Olusegun Agagu by the immediate-past Olusegun Mimiko administration.

Arakunrin Akeredolu described the manner of abandoning the projects due to political differences as a disgrace to governance and disservice to the good people of the Southern Senatorial district in particular and the entire state at large.

The Governor said his administration, which believes in the axiom that Government is continuum, has even completed projects inherited from the same administration who neglected Agagu’s projects for eight years.

Governor Akeredolu spoke at the commissioning of some newly completed projects in the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (AOUTECH)

The projects commissioned include the University Library, University Auditorium and the Administrative Building, all of which were initiated by the late Governor Olusegun Agagu, but abandoned for eight years by the previous administration.

Speaking at the event, Governor Akeredolu saluted the great vision of the former Governor of the state, Late Dr. Olusegun Agagu for his sincerity of purpose and commitment, which he said made the establishment of the University a reality.

The Governor noted that at the inception of his administration, he was alarmed with the deplorable condition of things in the University in terms of infrastructure, workers’ welfare and other essential facilities incidental to conducive learning environment.

According to him, the unfortunate and deplorable situation in the University strengthened his administration's resolve to change the narrative, by immediately commencing a gradual, radical and systematic implementation of the State Government’s strategic plan as it relates to the University.

The Governor disclosed that, aside the commencement and completion of a new Electrification Project, his administration was able to facilitate the donation of science equipment worth millions of Naira from Seeding Lab., USA, in order to encourage meaningful learning and research in the institution.

Arakunrin Akeredolu said within hundred days in office, his administration completed the asphalt laying of the road from the Main Gate to the heart of the Campus, stressing that the road contract was awarded, but abandoned for over eight years.

He explained that the institution, which was a one-Faculty University for over eight years, now has two added additional schools; the School of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology, as a result of improved funding from his administration.

WE’ll CONTINUE TO DEVELOP OUR ECONOMY THROUGH MASSIVE INVESTMENT, SAYS GOV AKEREDOLU

...Performs Groundbreaking Of Alape Garden City

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Aketi, SAN, has reiterated his administration’s determination to continue to develop the economy of the state through massive investment instead of the public service-driven economy.

The Governor, who said that the future of the State’s economy lies in the Southern Senatorial District of the state, stressed that his administration's investment drives have started yielding fruits with the wonders of the century taking place in Ondo-Linyi Industrial Hub.

Governor Akeredolu spoke at the Ground-Breaking ceremony of the “Alape Garden City” in Ilaje Local Government area of the state, a location of less than one hour to Lekki, Lagos state.

The Alape Garden is a proposed estate within Ipare communities, sitting on a whopping 683.744 hectares, which is expected to provide shelter for an estimated 4,000 persons, with the provision of worship centres, shopping malls and recreational facilities among others when completed.

The project is being undertaken by Coastville Global Resources and their partners. The company will be investing billions of Naira to develop the Garden City on a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model.

While reminding the people that one of the policy thrusts of his administration was improving the lives of the people by creating investments and investment opportunities, the Governor said without investment, there would not be enough employment opportunities for the people.

Governor Akeredolu said: ”We shall not relent in our efforts at making sure that the Ondo Deep Seaport, the Erunna-Ogboti Free Trade Zone, the River Alape Inland Port and all our remaining industrial parks become a reality before our very eyes.
“Apart from modernising one of our local communities, the Garden City development, I believe, will bring about well-structured and state-of-the-art buildings that can compete favourably with what is obtainable in places like Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port-Harcourt etc.
“ This development will, invariably, attract our sons and daughters, home and abroad, and others alike to come home to own property. This has potential for growth and development of both the communities and their people.”

The Governor commended the Ipare communities for their peaceful disposition, adding that there will not be any meaningful development without peace.

Nairaland / General / Amotekun: No Criminal Element Shall Trouble Our Calm Water Again - Akeredolu by Ashleyeniwin(f): 8:19pm On Aug 11, 2020
AMOTEKUN: NO CRIMINAL ELEMENT SHALL TROUBLE OUR CALM WATER AGAIN - AKEREDOLU

...Says Thuggery, Criminality shall not be tolerated in the forthcoming election

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, has assured the people of the state that no criminal element shall trouble the relative peace enjoyed in the state, as the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) begins operation .

The Governor stressed that with a workable synergy among the leadership of the security agencies and that of Amotekun, a water-tight strategies capable of arresting crimes even before they occur would be deployed.

Arakunrin Akeredolu spoke at the Passing-Out Ceremony of the pioneer Amotekun Corps Officers in the state, held at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade, Igbatoro Road, Akure, the state capital.

The Governor recalled that many people felt he was putting his second term ambition on the line when the Amotekun Corps was launched in Ibadan in January this year.

”And I told them, time and again, that my ambition is not worth the insecurities that our people are confronted with, where at some point, people were afraid of travelling out of the State.

“It was so horrible that marauders laid siege to the highways, as well as in the farmlands, waiting to kidnap or devour anyone in sight. With the launch of Amotekun, we resolved that it shall be no retreat, no surrender. We are not going to be intimidated or blackmailed,” Akeredolu said.

Governor Akeredolu, who expressed his readiness to champion the course of a better, safer and prosperous society and country, said he was determined not to pay lip service to the constitutional role of government, which is to seek the welfare and protection of the lives and property of the people.

He said: "It is incontrovertible that the existing security framework is being overstretched and we had to device a means of confronting the challenge of insecurity head-on. That was when the concept of Amotekun came up. As Yorubas, we are not known to surrender to our adversaries and if our forebears did not, we should not.

“On 4th March, this year, just two months after the launch of Amotekun in Ibadan, the Bill setting up the Corps was signed into law, after diligent and thorough work by the State House of Assembly. The import of this is that Amotekun Corps is now a legal entity not just the idea of an individual.

“As noted at the launch, it is not a parallel security structure to any of the security agencies. Rather, it is to complement what is on ground so that together they can achieve the goal of a safer environment, conducive enough to encourage foreign investors and rid our State of all forms of crime and criminally-minded elements.

The Governor also reassured the people that the forthcoming election in the State would be very peaceful, adding that the state will not tolerate any form of thuggery or criminality occasioned by elections.

Traditional rulers including the Olugbo of Ugbo, Oba Fedrick Obateru Akinrutan, Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye and other prominent monarchs attended the event.

Heads of security agencies in the State as well as religious leaders and other stakeholders also graced the event.

Education / Gov Akeredolu Great Efforts In Unimed, Ondo by Ashleyeniwin(f): 2:53am On Aug 02, 2020
GOV AKEREDOLU GREAT EFFORTS IN UNIMED, ONDO

At the inception of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu administration, the Ondo State Government owned, University of Medical Sciences, UNIMED, in Ondo City, had zero accreditation.

This was because the Dr. Olusegun Mimiko administration was owing the university workers seven months salaries which led to the mass resignation of all the contract specialists that would have enhanced the accreditation of its programmes.
UNIMED however had its fortune changed for the better when its current visitor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, took over the reign of governance of the Sunshine State.

Despite the fact that Ondo State could not bear the burden of financing three universities, Governor Akeredolu did not relocate or change the status of UNIMED.

In just three and half years in office of Governor Akeredolu, UNIMED has secured 18 accreditations in different specialities of Medicine.

A major leap into excellence in Medical Science and Practice was the establishment of a multi-campus Teaching Hospital for UNIMED in Ondo City and Akure the state capital.

The Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu administration is at the moment constructing a 500-bed Hospital within the UNIMED in Ondo. The same capacity hospital of 500-bed is equally under construction at the UNIMED-TH Akure Campus.

On completion, the 500-bed hospital complex will be so massive in its structure than the combined structures of the Trauma Centre with the Mother and Child Hospital that were turned to the University of Medical Sciences by the immediate past administration and inherited by the present administration.

It must be noted the law for the establishment of the UNIMEDTH crafted by the Akeredolu administration, passed and signed, is now effectively in operation.

Ondo: Akeredolu vows to defeat Jegede again

…Says, my deputy has no electoral value

Ahead of the October 10 Governorship election in Ondo state, candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC and incumbent governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has vowed to defeat the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Eyitayo Jegede in what he said would be a replay of what happened in the 2016 election when he first defeated the PDP candidate.

Akeredolu who spoke on Monday at the national secretariat of the APC shortly after appearing before the Ondo state Governorship Appeal Committee of the party, also declared his estranged deputy, Agboola Ajayi as a politician of no consequence, vowing to defeat him even in his own local government.

Describing the exit of Ajayi from the APC as good riddance to bad rubbish, the governor advised him to remain in the PDP with Jegede rather than jumping ship again.

“For me, the deputy leaving the APC to return to the PDP is good riddance to bad rubbish. We thought we could accommodate him at the APC but since he returned to where he truly belonged, it is all well and good. I always wish people the best I can.

“From what I have been told, he has lost the ticket and I pray he won’t jump to another place but if he does, all well and good. However, for his own sake and as a big brother, I will advise him to stay with Jegede, support him very well.

He has made a case that he helped me to win, let him help him to win and we will confirm that he is popular. What I know is that he is of no importance, he has no hold on any local government, I can assure you that come during the election, I will defeat him in his local government and he will never recover from it. He is of no influence anywhere and we picked him because we felt we have someone from PDP coming to join us. We picked him to join us but he feels and tells people that he is grass-rooted.

Let me advise him again to stay with Jegede and let us see what happens. Jegede is my friend. We are colleagues and both members of the inner bar, I don’t have anything against him and I just pray that our campaign should be issue-based without violence and I know that he knows that it will not be easy for him. Yes, it may not be easy for me to win, but by His Grace, I am going to win. I can assure that as it was in the beginning, so it shall be now and forevermore. We will win this election by the grace of God”.

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has named Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as his running mate for the October 10 governorship election in the state.

Governor Akeredolu said the leaders of the party made wide consultations to choose a suitable and qualified candidate as the Running Mate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State.

In arriving at the choice of Aiyedatiwa, the Governor said some important factors assisted the leaders of the party, including the decision to sever ties with mediocrity and treachery.

While noting that the experiences of the immediate past must guide his decision, Akeredolu said a candidate with verifiable credentials and pedigree has been chosen to complete the last part of the gubernatorial race.

Identifying loyalty and honesty as the twin virtues needed to serve at the moment, Arakunrin Akeredolu said the people expect a fresh and dignifying breather from the choking rot of the immediate past.

The Governor said: "The general public has been treated to a cocktail of lies by those who recently disengaged from our administration, as well as those who were asked to step aside to allow those who displayed genuine passion to serve come on board.

"Their hirelings are busy spreading falsehood and maligning personalities on social media. You must have heard or read about the comedy of errors enacted by some erstwhile principal officers of this administration.

ONDO APC PRIMARY: GOV. AKEREDOLU MEETS OKE, KEKEMEKE, IJI , SEEKS RECONCILIATION

Barely 24 Hours after his victory at the 2020 Governorship Primary Election of the All Progressives Congress, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Aketi, SAN, on Tuesday paid an unscheduled visit to residence of Ambassador Sola Iji, Chief Olusola Alexander Oke, SAN and also met with Hon. D. I Kekemeke at his office.

The Governor was accompanied by the Chairman of the APC , Engr. Ade Adetimehin, Secretary to the state Government (SSG) Hon Temitayo Tukana Oluwatuyi and Chief of staff, Chief Gbenga Ale.

Governor Akeredolu had declared in his acceptance speech that he will soon commence the process of reconciliation to heal all perceived wounds.

The Governor said there was a need for him to engage and talk to the aspirants so that they can all work together for the success of the APC in the October 10 governorship election.

Arakunrin Akeredolu noted that Ambassador Iji was the first person among the other aspirants to call and congratulate him on the outcome of the primary election.

Arakunrin Akeredolu said:" I must put it to notice that my brother here was the first person to call me and congratulate me. He didn't even know that I was coming. As you know he was once our chairman, he's a party person to the core."

After a closed door meeting with Hon. Kekemeke, Governor Akeredolu said they had discussions about the party and not individual, stressing that Ondo State must remain an APC state.

He said:"As you know D. I and I are colleagues. We are not only colleagues but brothers. We have spoken frankly, he was Frank. We have started talking, we are talking about our party not about individual. We have had very robust and Frank discussions on how to move our party forward and work together. Ondo state must remain APC state. "

Ambassador Iji said the people should expect consistency from him, adding that during his campaigns he had made it known that he has nothing against the governor.

"Expect consistency from us. When I was campaigning I said I had nothing against his Excellency. I has contested with him and I see his victory as victory for our party. Whoever the PDP picks, we will beat them silly. " Iji said.

Kekemeke said he was surprised to see the leader of the party and Governor of the state, describing the visit as a pleasant surprise.

"Like the Governor said, we have spoken very frankly and I'm happy that he tolerated my frankness. I have said I will work with him. I shall not be going to any party or court. I will work hard to see that Ondo remains an APC state. "

Although a candidate emerged from the unusually transparent and rancour-free exercise, the chapter prefers to perceive the success as victory for the State chapter.

It congratulates the party's flag bearer and Governor of the State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on the victory and urges him to accommodate all tendencies within the fold.

The State secretariat would expedite efforts to bring together all the aspirants and stakeholders within the shortest possible time, to hold a "family" meeting and fashion out plausible approaches to electoral victory come October.

The chapter cautions that members should not be carried away by the victory, saying all hands must be on deck to ensure the party wins governorship election in October and retain Ondo State for the APC.
