An Islamic cleric, Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa has revealed that members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State have been kidnapping Christian passengers and leaving the Muslim ones to go their way at roadblocks.

Dikwa, who is also the Director General, Centre for Justice on Religion and Ethnicity in Nigeria, made the disclosure on Friday.

Speaking with SaharaReporters, he said for three weeks now, the terrorists have been stopping vehicles along Maiduguri- Damaturu Road at Mainok and kidnapping motorists and commuters without any disturbance.

He said,
“This has been going on for two to three weeks now, along Maiduguri-Damaturu Road. When ISWAP kidnap passengers in a bus, they keep the Christian passengers captive and release the Muslim passengers, this is not just once, it has been happening. They just stop the car, enter into the bush, release the Muslims and hold the Christians captive.

“Just recently, a bus driver was stopped and they asked how many Christians are in the bus, he said two, they picked those two and the rest continued on their journey. This thing is getting to another dimension.

“Our people are afraid. We don’t even have security. It is terrible. Yet, northern leaders are already holding political meetings, thinking of who wants to be the next president of Nigeria when insecurity is ravaging the nation.”

Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah recently wrote to the United States House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee on Religious Freedom, alleging the persecution of Christians in Nigeria based on their faith and not crimes.

As gunmen kidnap more than 140 Christian schoolchildren in Nigeria, Release International is again urging the international community to call Nigeria to account over its appalling failure to protect its Christian minority in the north.

The gunmen, suspected to be Fulani militants, overcame security guards and forced their way into Bethel Baptist boarding school in Kaduna at 2am on Monday morning. They kidnapped most of 180 students who attend the school. A few managed to escape, according to reports.

That country is a shame. I should say a disgrace but I guess we Nigerians are not like the Southies here. We have no glee over the misfortunes of our fellow Africans especially that will help liberate them from slavery. But it doesn't help they want to measure d.ick with us though we since made strides that clearly set us apart as a geopolitical regional power.

Rwanda in Mozambique as a case in point though not entirely South Africa's making as no one exactly knows what President Nyusi of Mozambique has got to hide in the Cabo Delgado province (I suspect corruption) but it does show the limits of South Africa's power and influence in Southern Africa and Africa.

Such a thing wouldn't happen in Nigeria's backyard. When the Angolans tried such rubbish in Guinea Bissau we spoke in the language they understood using many levers of intelligence, soft and hard power to make them scurry off in a hurry in disgrace. Someone also tried to poke the nose in Bangui, CAR and well certain painful things happened.

It beholves of South Africa to do something about Mozambique and the terrorists there. If not it has no business being considered or perceived one of the regional powers in Africa.
If Rwanda does it's a shame but what do we care Rwanda is another extension of Nigeria's military influence in the SADC region of Africa.

Nope no black nation as a block will necessarily get involved except the ones Ethiopia enjoys bilateral relations with and none of which in East Africa has the muscle to stand Egypt.

Ethiopia is not Nigeria. The current Prime Minister and government in Addis Ababa is asking for too much. He's already been taught a lesson by the tribe or region that is really the fighting elements in all of Ethiopia and across Eritrea as well. Which is why they tactically called off the offensive because in a wider war it will take all of Ethiopia's military industrial complex to sustain a war against Egypt for a long period. Winning that war is not guaranteed either on both sides even though Egypt may do the most damage. None of those countries have what it takes from human intelligent resources (Ethiopia a lot better here though) to money (Egypt better here with Arab sponsors) to have the knockout punch power. Also don't forget this is not the Ethiopia of Meles Zenawi.

Having shiny toys alone doesn't win wars.
