TV/MoviesRe: What Kind Of Movie Do You Want Nigerians To Make? by astronp7(m): 5:28pm On Jan 03, 2008
For me I want action. I mean real action movie. St Obi and other few almost made me glad on that but I was disappointed they went into this "Love Thing" and got trapped.

Don't they watch Jackie Chan and co. They should see documentary on how a particular movies were made. Many good movie producers do have medical teams around. Let the action flow. Rather than all this stage management that is never convincing.

They should seek ways to get sponsors, I mean its business. I still do not like the name "Nollywood" It hides under the Hollywood. Whatever name you give your pet, thats what it bears. If they don't know, let them ask us to make a nomination or voting for a replacement. I wish them well.

Happy 2008, everyone!

I think you should rather negotiate your price. You should know what you worth. Also consider what you can do and the worth of your employer.

BusinessRe: What Business Should I Start? by astronp7(m): 3:49pm On Jan 03, 2008
Once you have listed out some of these, start eliminating those you feel are not relevant. You will boil-down to one. Get more knowledge that is related to the field. Start some how with your plans, be consistent on it and also review your progress as you go.

Avoid getting distracted but be dynamic enough to adjust your plans without missing the ultimate target. All the best!

PoliticsRe: All Selectivity Cases Endorsed For Trial By Ribadu May Be Nullified by astronp7(m): 1:24pm On Jan 03, 2008
No case will be dropped. If anyone do, it does not bother me because it will be revisited. Remember oputer panel - If not only that the govt then did not have the will to organize properly, empower it and implement its recommendation.

If I were Yar Adua, I will do those things I will like to remember for, rather than all these propaganda (if not hide and seek games). I have not lost faith in the pressident. I hope he takes up the courage early. Me, if elected I will not plan on four year term, just 1 - 2 years in all is more than enough fix things. I mean this is 7th month am counting oooo!
WebmastersRe: Now That Every Tom,Dkci And Harry Has A Website by astronp7(m): 10:59am On Jan 03, 2008
I think everyone should have a site as individual, business, organization, family, community, just everyone. It does not also matter what they get and from where. I only say people should consider there pocket and purpose.

Everyone should, abi who no want?
WebmastersWebmasters: Article Request by astronp7(op): 10:54am On Jan 03, 2008
Hello everyone, I am starting this year with a Newspaper Publication project (though I commenced it late 2007). It will basically be for issues, commentary, tutorials, news, etc on Information Technology (i.e. Computer, Internet, Telecomm, etc).

I hereby request for articles from anyone interested to support this project in that regards. Your article should be within 30 to 400 words. It should be original (it could be your opinion, your take on any relevant topic/concept, criticism, joke, just anything as long as it is within the area we are interested in. At the end of the article, include you resource box. A resource box should look something like this (e.g. for me – Emmanuel Ezeali):

--------------------------------------------------
Emmanuel Ezeali is a young and dynamic web designer and an author. He is dedicated in helping individual get online presence. You can contact him on 08059201646 or visit www.emmaezeali.com
--------------------------------------------------

I hope you code what I mean. If the article you are sending is from somewhere else please do include yours and the source, so we can acknowledge that.

Benefits: Anyone that had his article published will receive a copy (irrespective of where the person resides in Nigeria).

Other Opportunities: If you have a site or a service you offer, you can support this initiative by placing advert on at least the classified page for only N3,000. Donations are welcome too. We hope it reaches as far as possible – maybe you will even aid the distribution. We will discourse that when the time comes.

I will be designing a website for the journal before is out. I am targeting first week of February. If you have any suggestion please do post it here. Thanks, happy 2008!

WebmastersRe: Could Anyone Teach Me How To Creat Webhosting by astronp7(m): 9:58am On Jan 03, 2008
To create a web hosting site means differently:

1. If you want to host yourself: Then you will need to buy a server, all the software, technical team, go into convernant with with PHCN just kidding or have your own 24/7 power supply, and many more,  Worth over a million naira.

2. Buy a web hosting reseller package: In this case you still sell web hosting and other related services, but you are not the provider. It could be a company based outside, but you are here making your sales at your own price, all technical goes to the provider where you bought your package. Some will provide you every tool and even a website, while for some you will have the tools to attain to your clients but for the site, you get one for yourself. Cost? From N20,000 or even less depending on the web space.

Problem: I think since I tell you the above I should also state this. If you create account to a negatively minded person who uses it for fraud, if you are not lucky, you may have yuor entire account terminated and that will affect all the accounts on it. Just be careful.

I will recommend the second option. And its very profitable too. I hope this helps. Happy 2008! Emmanuel Ezeali
WebmastersRe: What Do You Think Of Nigerian Newspaper Sites? by astronp7(op): 8:33am On Jan 03, 2008
Maybe their correspondents are addicted to these "slangs". This is a new year, I hope they will over haul their strategies. The problem is that there is no competition, despite their numbers.

I hope something will happen in the system that will cause competition and allow is again to see investigative journalism. Thanks to Dele Giwa and Co of blessed memory.

WebmastersRe: How/where Can I Get Web Design Jobs? by astronp7(m): 12:47pm On Jan 01, 2008
As challenging as your problem is, I must tell you its simple to solve. Because you already have the facilities and personnel. All you need now is a good marketing plan. This also is easy - all you need to do is get some questions if answer can set clients flooding your office.

Then bring your collegues or staff (depending on the position you occupy there), brainstorm on the list you have. Simplly ask them the questions allow them make contribution gather the points and act on it. Don't make assumptions, include questions like:
- what services do we offer. - who needs it. - At what cost can they pay. - How do we reach them, etc.

When you gather gather the possible solutions, assign each person a task. Do review your progress. I will also recommend you read this post https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-100888.0.html to learn other ways you can run you web design business successfully.

I hope this helps. Cheers!
WebmastersRe: Now That Every Tom,Dkci And Harry Has A Website by astronp7(m): 12:21pm On Jan 01, 2008
Well people have many reasons for going for a website. Some years back companies that have email address roll out drums, but now things have changed.

The same way I believe with time owning a site will become common too. I just hope this year we all will achieve our purpose for going online, as long as it's for good. I also encourage that don't have yet to go for one.

Happy 2008, to you all.

WebmastersRe: What Do You Think Of Nigerian Newspaper Sites? by astronp7(op): 11:26am On Dec 31, 2007
@ Dis Guy:
Yes you are right. In most cases its always an added service separate from the main page. For updating a site, some well developed news scripts allow you to simply post the article to the appropriate section and it will reflect immediately, so the issue of waiting through the next day to report a breaking news will not arise.

PoliticsRe: Why Yar’adua Wants Ribadu Out - Plans To Prosecute Obasanjo, Ribadu And El-rufai by astronp7(m): 4:30am On Dec 31, 2007
OBJ was more tactful in his strategies than Yar' Adua (though most times they are personal). If Yar' Adua should go for OBJ now it will be suicide becos OBJ can go down without a fight.

I think the president should forget these propaganders for they will do him no good. He should spend his efforts to better the lives of poor Nigerians instead of all these "film tricks". Na today? We have seen these before. What came out of Oputa Panel.

BusinessRe: Chinese Expatriates Invasion? by astronp7(m): 3:55am On Dec 31, 2007
On whose standards do they base their products. Almost anything you get from China will definitely get bad in no distant time.

If only our leaders will be sincere for ones and look at ways to develop indiginious technology, instead of rushing for cheap funds from China. I don't just understand why its very easy for them to get blinded with $$$ for so long. I mean its 47 years now, and we keep on doing the same thing over and over again.

God Save Nigeria!

I read an online shopping site here:http://www.shopforless.com
Its unfortunate people are still fooling themselves these way. Faceless, nameless, no location, etc. These how they end up spoiling our image online. Everyone beware!

Even if you are real - don't bring those substandards into our country we don't need them. You go to shop4small and get us half baked. One day all these fake items will stop!
PoliticsRe: Biafra Internet Terrorists And I by astronp7(m): 2:21am On Dec 31, 2007

PoliticsRe: If You Were Mr President Today, how Will You Handle Corruption by astronp7(m): 2:04am On Dec 31, 2007
I now see why in Nigeria we keep on having leaders that will come kill, destroy all we ever archieved. Because all these kill and drop will never solve the problem of Nigeria. At the end its still the poor that will suffer. The rich will find their way out of it. They can reform these money while other funds are hiding in other peoples account.

I will forgive the past. But it will be an abomination to loot the nations tresures. All the funds that are always stolen can then be channelled into making the citizens proud to be Nigerians. Light, shelter, food, enterprise, school, roads, technology, art, accountability, justice, equity, etc. If you commit an offence you will get fare hearing, if you are guilty, you regret living in Nigeria!
WebmastersRe: Spam Emails by astronp7(m): 1:37am On Dec 31, 2007
You can use use the "create a filter" link at the top of your Gmail box, near "search the web" button to define what you will like to do with incoming mails.

This is very helpful if you know the sources you get these mail (ie the email addresses) you can outrightly block mails from such. In the past I have to even aboundon my account due to junks here and there. My advice separate your accounts (say personal and general). And be mindful of where you expose you email. Cheers.
PoliticsRe: Who Pays For Bad Policies? by astronp7(op): 1:25am On Dec 31, 2007
I just wonder when things are going to change when we keep on praise people who had the opportunity to turn things around for good, but simplly run us down.

And by the way, I will like to know: These elected officials are they our servants? Or are we serving them, once elected? Because I see no reason of getting a servant that is greater than you.
