Following the frequent targeting of the Republic of France, by the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a nationalist movement in one of the regions of the country has announced that it will bypass the regular French army to take on the terrorists, if the area is attacked. The Corsica region is a mountainous island on the Ligurian Sea. The area is a mixture of stylish coastal towns, dense forest and craggy peaks. Due to the area’s proximity to North Africa, many migrants from that part of Africa are living on the Island. The militant movement, known as the National Liberation Front of Corsica – October 22(FLNC-22), said it will retaliate heavily against any extremist attacks on the island by ISIS. The FLNC-22 is said to have splinted from the main National Liberation Front of Corsica, a separatist organization seeking total independence of the region from France. Local media report that the FLNC-22 group is more radical to their approach for independence from France than the main organization. According to members of the FLNC-22, any terrorist acts carried out on Corsican soil would prompt a determined response without any qualms. They said the French government will be blamed for failing to protect citizens of the island from any attack from the terrorists. The group accused the French government of wasting resources to intervene in needless wars, putting the whole of France at risk of terrorist attacks, and failing to defend its citizens from such attacks. In a statement the group sent to a local newspaper the Corse Matin, it urged all Muslims in the region to unite and reject the extremist ideologies of the terrorists, telling the Muslim population to report anybody to the group they suspect of having links to the terrorists. “The aim of the Salafists is clearly to install Isis policies here and we are prepared for it. Your medieval philosophy does not frighten us. If a tragedy were to happen it [the French government] would bear substantial share of responsibility because it knows who the radicals Islamists are in Corsica. If Islamic States takes actions on our soil, we will manage to defeat them only together,” the group said in the statement published in the local newspaper. The group further claimed that ISIS militants have tried to target Corsica in the past, but their internal intelligence managed to thwart the plans of the terrorists. However, this claim by the group of thwarting ISIS planned attack on the island has not been confirmed by French officials in the mainland. The FLNC-22 movement has a cold relationship with the French authorities. RT English News reports that in 2012, some members of the group were tried in the capital Paris for a dozen bombings, including one that targeted government-owned buildings in the southern city of Aix-en-Provence. In 2013 again, two men who claimed to have links to the FLNC-22 were sentenced to three and five years in prison respectively, for providing the group with technical and logistical support. France has recently been rocked by a string of terrorist attacks claimed by ISIS terrorists. On July 14th, a truck driver went on rampage at a Bastille Day event, killing 85 people and injuring more than 300 others. In that same month, two militants with links to the terror group broke into a church, gruesomely slaughtering a priest and taking some of the congregation hostage. It was revealed that the two men who carried out this heinous attack were on the watch list of French intelligence officials. Since those attacks in July, it is said right-wing movements and political parties have been gaining support. The French intelligence services have also faced harsh criticism for not watching known radicals. In Corsica, observers say the FLNC is getting public support as many people feel unsafe due to the complex nature of the attacks by the terrorists. Many people, therefore, believe that joining some sort of Para-military forces will help scare the terrorists away from the island. source: http://smalltalk.com.ng/forums/topic/militants-french-island-corsica-ready-take-isis-say-government-failed/

The Nigerian terrorist group, Boko Haram has released a new video showing the dead bodies of some of the schoolgirls kidnapped from the Northeastern town of Chibok, in Borno State, two years ago. On April 14, 2014 Boko Haram fighters stormed a school in the town, terrorizing residents before making away with more than 300 of the schoolgirls. The abduction of the girls gained prominence in the Western mainstream media. The first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama led a social media campaign known as #BringBackOurGirls. The campaign went viral with participants urging the terrorists to return the girls. When this current Nigerian government was elected in 2015, its leader, Muhammadu Buhari pledged to do all he could to free the girls. President Buhari stated that his government is prepared to negotiate with the terrorists. However, the negotiations failed and the government decided to use force to free the girls. The terrorists are believed to be hiding in the Sambisa Forest, a vast forest located in the northeastern part of the country. The girls too, are held in the forest. As the negotiation was not successful, the government authorized the country’s military to use airstrikes to flush out the militants from the forest. In the past, Boko Haram has released videos showing the girls. Its leader, Abubakar Shekau is seen in some of those videos threatening to carry out more attacks on the Nigerian government, as well as foreign countries providing support to the government. Boko Haram pledged support to the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) last year. Since then, two factions have emerged within the group. It is believed the two factions disagree on the operations of the group. One group believes it is right to kidnap and kill civilians when necessary to advance the cause of the group, the other holds that the group should rather fight the military and avoid civilians. Recently, ISIS released a statement that it has recognized the faction led by one Abu Musab al-Barnawi. The Shekau faction has since denounced the leadership of al-Barnawi. Shekau released an audio statement on August 3, 2016 claiming that the al-Barnawi has led an unsuccessful coup against him. Security experts say the split within the group has made the situation on the ground more complicated, regarding the freeing of the kidnapped girls. In the latest released video, it showed some of the kidnapped girls in robes with hair coverings. One girl is seen holding a child, raising fears that the girls have been forced to marry the terrorists. A fighter in military camouflage, standing before the girls, demanded that the government free some of its fighters in detention, before the girls will be freed. He interviewed one of the girls, who pleaded with the government to free the fighters so that they could return home to their parents. The video then showed some of the dead bodies of the girls. The fighter said they died from Nigerian military airstrikes. A spokesman for the Bring Back Our Girls campaign, Jeff Okoroafor told reporters that the video is original, revealing that families of those kidnapped had recognized eight of the girls who appeared in the clip. Mr Okoroafor said: “We are still reaching out to some parents to see if any can recognize more.” Security analysts in northern Nigeria have said the girls are being held by the Shekau faction. The Nigerian government has said it is closely analyzing the video,to know who to talk to in the group so that the girls could be released. Boko Haram claims to be fighting the Nigerian government, to create an Islamic State. The group has targeted mosques and markets with suicide bombers. Since the group began its violent campaign in 2009, hundreds of Muslims in the northern part of the country have been killed. source: http://smalltalk.com.ng/groups/anonymous/forum/topic/boko-haram-releases-video-claiming-nigerian-government-airstrikes-killed-kidnapped-chibok-schoolgirls-video/

The “End- to-End” signifies that the conversation is protected prior to it leaving your cell phone, and is only readable after it reaches your partner’s phone. As a result, no other person, including the company, will be able to read your messages. While critics who wanted WhatsApp to be encrypted are pleased with this new development, the same cannot be said for government agencies – although, the funny thing is, the United States government helped finance the encoding system WhatsApp employs, which will undoubtedly raise a fair amount of suspicion. However, with that being said, before you start sending content on WhatsApp, keep in mind that while your messages are still in transit, they can still be hijacked by hackers. While the other possibility is that someone can create a backdoor into your system, which will allow them to snoop on your conversation(s). For that reason, encryption itself is not much help if you do not follow the advice we are about to tell you. If you truly need the information you sent in WhatsApp to be secure, then get rid of it immediately after you have read it. If a person gets their hands on your cellphone – for instance, by stealing it – and knows how to gain access to your cell phone—just as the Federal Bureau of Investigation has done so with the iPhone that was utilized by the shooter in San Bernardino—- every little thing that is on your cell phone will be available to that person. Furthermore, a few texting or messaging applications, particularly Telegram, include a self- destruct function, which erases the content from the cell phone. You can set a time period for the expiration, and Telegram will delete your messages when the time comes. However, at this time, WhatsApp does not have an automatic message deleting feature. It should also be brought to light that Telegram does not use end-to-end encryption as a set default standard. As a result, if you want encrypted messages, then you are required to select it manually. It is also worth mentioning that WhatsApp, like most of the encrypted messaging systems, does not save your communications on their server machines. However, on an Apple iPhone, consumers are able to tell WhatsApp to maintain a back-up of communications on Apple’s online storage service – which is commonly known as iCloud. As soon as this data is uploaded to the cloud, it can be checked by a government agency or even by hackers who know their way in. In comparison, Signal is definitely the application that is favored by privacy enthusiasts – plus their encoding system is similar to what WhatsApp uses. Signal does not save your information or the communication content to the cloud. And it is needless to say, in case you think about taking screenshots of your messages before removing them from the application, if your phone automatically saves your photos to Google’s servers, Apple servers or any other cloud services, then these can also be hacked. Once more, your conversations can never truly be safe if someone can see your screen; however, if that bothers you, there are many visual protection apps on the market. These apps will allow you to view your screen as normal, however, the people around you will be unable to see what is on your screen. But if you trust the people around you, and the only protection you want is from the government agencies or hackers, then simply delete every message once it’s read, and do not take screenshots of your phone. In addition, for added protection, try not to use public WiFi. If this is unavoidable, then use a paid VPN that offers encryption services. We know this is a lot of work, but it is always better to take steps to enhance your security. Enjoy your new end-to-end encrypted WhatsApp messaging. source: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2016/04/whatsapp-rolls-out-end-end-encryption-its-1bn-users |
Have you ever bothered to ask yourself why you keep meeting the wrong guys? It can be very frustrating when you find yourself falling for the wrong guy always. Below are things you are doing that prevents you from dating the great guy you desire 1. YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT IN A MAN You would keep meeting the wrong guys if you don’t know what you want in a man. You shouldn’t just say yes to any man; you need to have values you want in a man. 2. YOU ARE SCARED OF BEING SINGLE When you are scared of being single, you end up choosing the wrong man because you are desperate. It’s better to be single than being in a wrong relationship. 3. YOU EXPECT A MAN TO PROVIDE FOR YOU If you can’t survive without a man’s finance, you will find it really difficult dating a good guy. While it’s nice to be spoiled by your man, it’s also important you have a source of income and be able to take good care of yourself. 4. YOU IGNORE THE WAY HE TREATS OTHERS If a man doesn’t respect his mother, don’t expect him to respect you. He can’t give you what he doesn’t have. You need to pay attention to the way he treats others. 5. YOU THINK YOU CAN CHANGE HIM The only person you can change is yourself. Don’t go into a relationship with the mentality that you can fix him. The only person that can change him is him. 6. YOU HAVE A NEGATIVE MENTALITY When you think “all men are dogs”, you automatically shut your brain from finding a good man. So all you keep meeting are men who act like dogs. Don’t let a man in your past make you think negatively. 7. YOU DON’T HAVE STANDARDS You will keep meeting people without standards if you don’t have standards. If you don’t have standards, you will keep falling for the wrong guys. 8. YOU HAVE LOW SELF-ESTEEM When you think you don’t deserve better, you will constantly find yourself in relationships with people who disrespect you. Low self-esteem makes you think less of yourself and also makes you feel unworthy of a good guy. |
