Hello all, My spouse and I got ITA but he has an old police certificate. We are already in Canada and need a new police certificate. Please what is the process of getting a new PCC even when the applicant is in Canada? Thank you |
Thank you for this, i really appreciate it. I will try to match all the duties the way the methods you linked did it and settle on an NOC code like that. I will let you all know what i come up with just to check that i am not making a mistake again. Again, i appreciate you taking the time to give a detailed response GraciousWords: |
Hello any help on this would be really appreciated. Thank you. atoke2021: |
Good day all, I am filling out the express entry profile for my husband and we are running into an issue with NOC codes. I tried to use the job responsibilities in his job offer letter to match with the NOC 2021 version but i just cant seem to find it. I wanted to ask if you guys can help. The name of the job if construction coordinator with a BC employer. These are his job duties: Construction Coordinator Responsibilities ● Prepare a variety of internal and external reports and presentations, as required ● Assist the project manager with building and maintaining project schedules, tracking documents, checklists, contracts, filing, and paperwork ● Assist with reviewing monthly invoices, change requests and project billing applications ● Assist with all holdback release applications ● Set-up and maintain project tender documents and asses all pricing documents for accuracy ● Maintain records of all construction dates and project costs ● Coordinate with the material supply chain to provide the needed supplies ● Assist with daily management of consultants, contractors, and third-party vendors, as required ● Inspect the construction site to ensure the appropriate level of quality control in all the phases ● Work with assigned project manager to review construction details, assist with review of project and interior design specifications ● Assist with project site staff to ensure they have all relevant and up-to-date information ● Ensure site staff are saving and logging relevant information as it relates to quality control and spot checking; ie, checklists, daily job logs, etc ● Assist with drawing and specification review, coordination, and filing ● Assist the development team in preparing the projects for delivery ● Assist the development, operations, and sales teams as needed during sales launch and project closeout, including the preparation and assembly of project/owner manuals ● Additional related duties, as required. At first i thought it was 70010- construction manager but i remembered that if someone is not an actual manager they cannot claim it so i know it cant be that. Next i found 13201- Production and transportation logistics coordinators but my problem is that it it is under the logistics area and his job is under construction. Try as i might, i just cant seem to find it. If anyone can help with the NOC codes, i would really appreciate it. Thank you |
This is a really sad scenario becuase one of the requirement of getting SOWP if your spouse is working full time in Canada is that the job has to be NOC 0,A or B. Please can anyone else advice this person. To be honest with you I don’t think a letter of explanation can make a VO not follow the requirements of this SOWP. Please if you don’t mind me asking, were you guys aware of this requirements when you applied for SOWP? Cause if you were, she could have looked for another job while the visa was processing. Others in the house, what should this person do? I think this is a tricky situation ooo. Lucipee: |
Jogojogo I think he needs to fly before that date ASAP. The reason I say that is because when I was in the Facebook group for Indians SOWP, somebody had that same issue and because he did not fly by the time his visa and introduction letter expired, he had to apply again which took like 5 months. For the OP: please can you try to go to Canada before the 31st of July. I’m begging you. The reason is that if you enter Canada before then, all you have to do is either go flagpole (that is if your wife has collected PGWP ooo) or apply for extension online of WP from INSIDE Canada (which is faster). Please don’t let them make you have to reapply for Nigeria again. With what we are all seeing this processing time is not going down realistically. I know I am asking you to plan a big trip in less than 3 weeks but please try and pack your load, go there, do flagpoling at a land border in Canada (preferably), apply for a visa inside Canada(Ottawa VO) and then you can leave Canada back to Nigeria if you choose. jogojogo: |
Update. We have submitted the passport for stamping. atoke2021: |
Oh wow. This is tricky. One of the requirements of SOWP when spouse is a worker in Canada is that the job must be NOC 0 A or B. How many days did they give you to submit. I ask because they sometimes give people 120 days and they use that time to find the a new job. I suggest your spouse asks their employer if there are any open roles within their organization that you think would qualify. Others that have encountered a similar situation should advice please. Lucipee: |
The problem now is VFS is behaving as if we are begging them to do us a favor when all we are asking for is the passport back which the embassy said it has sent. I am really scared. We called their call center today and the way customer service was responding to us was as if we were disturbing them. Even though we stressed the urgency of the situation to them. I will send mail to Nairobi and show them proof of my husbands passport being with Sweden. Thank you very much. I will update on the situation jogojogo: |
Hello all, I have an issue and I would appreciate some advice. My husband got his visa approved June 22nd. Unfortunately we had just submitted his visa to Sweden on June 17th for us to go for a vacation. So once we got Canadian visa approval, we requested withdrawal of Sweden visa application. While they have withdrawn it, it is taking some time to get the passport sent back from their embassy (they do all Nigerian applications from Nairobi). When we reached out, Sweden embassy said they had sent the passport back to VFS Lagos on 30th of June. But till now it has not gotten to VFS. We are getting scared because the deadline to submit passport for Canada is 30 days which is fast approaching. If we don’t get the passport Back by next week, we are in a bind. As you know there is holiday next week so we also wonder how that will affect things. I was thinking I should email Canada Nairobi and beg for an extension but as we know they don’t respond to their emails until 30 days. How do I go about this? Would appreciate any help that can be given. Thank you. |
I used these two that I got from nairaland: nrobi-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca nrobi-immigration@international.gc.ca SoteriaMo: |
Yeah sure. Anyway I can help. I will tell you now that accommodation No be for here but we can definitely brainstorm and I can check anything you need me to Toceen2022: |
That clarifies things. Thank you shams040: |
Hello. I want to send the passport for stamping. I’m a bit confused about the transmission fee. If I am sending the passport of the Lagos office (we did biometrics in Lagos) should we still pay the transmission fee? Thank you |
Hi lydylonge. I did not find the post in flagpoling when I went to look for it but I asked my schools international student advisor and she said it is completely legal and the spouse of a student can definitely do it. But as I said before make sure you have your spouse PGWP. This is why I suggested for your wife to go get her PGWP at the border if you guys are anxious. Lydylonge: |
Congratulations. I’m at UVIC Toceen2022: |
I used to send a lot of web forms and emails to Nairobi (like every couple of days) but I gave up on it in April. Then I came on to nairaland last week and I saw people saying they replied that email where Nairobi asked them to send updated documents depending on their situation. I remembered that Nairobi sent us that email in March but I did not reply it cause I had already given them all the updated documents via webform. I then went to reply that email on Friday last week. To be honest I don’t know if it helped but I just thought to do it. amr12: |
First make sure to apply for visitor record if you are already close to your 6 month mark. You can easily flagpole for your work permit. Your wife should flagpole her PGWP first cause you need her job offer letter and paystubs for your own application. Look up the borders that let you go for that and the time they allow that. All you need is to carry all your documents and pay the fees at the border and you will be issued a work permit. I will try to find a post that was made on an Indian Facebook group on how they flagpoled. P.S- I modified my answer when I saw that your wife was on implied PGWP status Lydylonge: |
Thank you. Actually he has been waiting for 4 years to do his masters and has been posting it because of me. We want to both do our education together since we can pay for the masters and his is just a year and a half and I have 4 more years in my program. We are also in British Columbia- Victoria. ditha: |
PPR Alert- after 38 WEEKS PPR Date: June 22nd PS: I wrote this in faith in the middle of June Submitted September 29th 2021 Review started: June 21st This journey has been stressful and depressing but I’m glad it ended beautifully. I started my PhD in September 2020 but did online till May 2021 (so I moved in May of 2021). I got married to my husband in august 2021 because I wanted to bring him to Canada immediately. We immediately started putting our documents together. Keep in mind he has no travel history and just got his passport in august of 2021 DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED Applicant Job offer letter for employer Applicant job Promotion letter Certificate from COREN and NSE Transcripts Applicant Bank account of 10,000 USD Student funding letter of 35000 CAD yearly guaranteed for 4 years Student scholarship of 15000 CAD Student onetime scholarship of 2000 CAD Student bank acct with 10,000 USD Student investment portfolio of over 10,000 USD Student transcripts and verification of enrollment. Proof of relationship documents Pictures of us dating Pictures of our court wedding (we did the wedding in our house and not in ikoyi) Marriage certificate Tenancy agreement with me and my husband name. An apartment we rented since 2019. Proof of back and forth flights from US to Nigeria since I started dating my husband (I lived in the US for 8 years before moving back to Nigeria in 2020 due to covid). Airbnb receipts for places we rented together whenever I was in Nigeria APPLICANT proof of home ties Landed properties in my husbands name CAC documents of my husbands company CAC documents of his parents company where he is a director Letter explaining why he does not have travel history. While waiting for his SOWP file, we applied for visitor visa in December 2021 and it was rejected. I am soo happy because this means we can start planning for the future. Please I have a question. My husband has gotten admission for a masters in Canada for January 2023. Has anyone switched from a work permit to a study permit when they enter Canada? Did they encounter any issues? Thank you. I really hope everyone gets an approval soon and can be reunited with their families. |
Hi all, I just wanted to post on here that today- June 21st- eligibility review started and they sent correspondence letter saying my husbands bio metric is valid. Application date- September 29th 2021 Hoping for good news. |
Thank you. He has told the school and they have deferred him so he will apply for his visa with a September resumption date. duchess90: |
Hello all, Please i have a question for a friend. If you apply for UK student visa for May resumption and move your start date to September because family issues require that you stay in Nigeria a little bit longer, does that have any impact on your visa? I mean after UK has given you your visa? Specifically, does the student have to reapply for another visa? Also, what are the chances of the school being comfortable with moving the resumption term? Thank you all. |
Thank you so much. I have added it to our list of schools to apply to for January 2023 start date Lekiboboe: |
Hello all, Please i am looking for a PGD in human resources that lasts for more than 12 months. I have found schools like Cambrian college, and Camosun college but they are all 12 months. As you all know, to get PGWP of more than 1 year, your program has to be more than a year. Please if anyone knows any pgd programs in HRM that is about 16 months, please let me know. It is for my sister who has a 2.2 bachelors in mass communication and just finished NYSC last year. Thank you all, i really appreciate it |
The person has a large following on social media, does some media stuff and is married to an actor. So I think she will sell very well. I’m just sad that this is considered ethical. Debbieeeeeee: |
E shock you too abi. I know that birth companies do this but to see an individual offer this based on just at I have born in Canada is very surprising. As if the course will give you magic that grant you visa and entry at POE. Reminder that we should try not to exploit each other and always think about how we would feel if someone did that to you. makylove101: |
But isn’t visitor visa harder to get. I feel (and I might be wrong) that it had a higher chance of rejection than SOWP. I applied for SOWP in September and I applied for visitor in December 2021. The visitor got rejected based on home ties for my husband. I think it might be better to have both applications running just to be safe shams040: |
Hello all, I just saw something that made me really sad. I came across an Instagram post of a lady that had her baby in Canada and now she is selling a course on how to do it to the people. She is selling it for 125 dollars. It makes me sad because chances are she got all her information from places like this forum. I just hope more people come across places like this so that they can have all the information they need and not depend on someone else packaging what is on here. Everytime I see things like this, I wonder- do Nigerians get happy from exploiting their own? |
Hello. Your spouse will do the application for her and the kids on her own portal. I don’t know how to do the one with dependents so I suggest you read posts from the beginning of this year on this thread to get an idea of documents needed. Good luck

|
Congratulations oooooo. This means they are attending to SOWP. I’m so glad to see people getting it. From the time lines of standalone that I am seeing. It just means I have to have 3 to 4 more months of patience. Hopefully it ends positively. Congrats once again. Jaybakky: |
@sam4774 CONGRATULATIONS OOOOOO. So happy that they are handling SOWP. Thank God. May everyone else also get their approval soon. |
