It's like you're not getting my point.
My point is,i don't have to be a writer to be a critic. The fact that i happen to be one is of no consequence.
I did not say his poems were bad-because they're not. Some of them were pretty darn good,if i do say so myself.
However , i found the lines about Adam and Eve to be corny. I don't have to prove that i can write better than he can to offer an opinion of his work.
Even if i couldn't write worth c.rap,i'd still have the right to call some lines corny or over-used if they seem that way to me.

Lines about Adam and Eve are over-used. That's  my opinion.
However,Uyi wrote a lot of good stuff too. That's another one of my opinions.
One opinion doesn't take anything away from the other.

@Maclatunji,it's AtreidEs. I don't necessarily have to be a writer to be a critic,but,as it so happens,i do write. Sadly,i don't write love poems much-mostly because i haven't experienced romantic love yet and writing about it seems kinda false. I always feel like i'm not getting it right,like i'm projecting an idea of what i imagine it to be rather than what it truly is. Plus,i almost always get writer's block when i try to write a love poem. I'd much rather write about angst and fantasy(magic,prophecies etc)and all that lovely dark stuff than write a love poem.
And i don't have to write Love poems to know that lines about Adam and Eve are pretty corny.

Lmao at Roky fasting and praying. . Y'know her pastor prescribed a 7-day night vigil + dry fasting(chica's getting lean but oh well,she has to make the sacrifice if she wants her man to pur a ring on it),with her main prayer point being getting a ring.

Am i the only one who found some of Uyi's lines incredibly corny? 'I am Adam' and 'You are Eve'? Seriously? That's gotta be the most over-used line in the history of over-used lines. And weren't Adam and Eve annihilated by the Good Lord in his righteous anger? Nothing romantic about that,IMO.

I don't think i use 'like' too often though.
I use it to replace certain phrases;e.g rather than saying 'and then he said that' i'd rather say(and write) 'so he was like' blah blah blah.

I was kinda shy at first,but he wasn't-he kept looking me straight in the eye.
After a while i got more comfortable(and therefore,more animated)so everything just flowed better.
Nothing happened sha.
He's not hot-he's cute(which is fine by me because IMO,extremely fine guys are too much wahala),but he's tall and he's funny.
We just talked and then met up the next day to hang a bit,and then he left.

I gave her the ultimatum,she kept putting it off. I told my mom. It turns out my mom was already suspecting it(y'know all those people who can tell if someone is preggers with one look? That's her). She said she'd been noticing the differences.
My mom then went to tell her mom.
It wasn't pretty.
There was a lot of yelling,and name-calling,etc. Her dad was gonna beat her or sumn,but my mom stopped him.
Her parents told her that she had to keep the baby and that's what she's doing. She isn't going to school this year. After it happened,she told me that i'd ruined her life,etc etc(and some other stuff i really don't want to think about,much less talk about). Bottomline-it made me feel like c.rap,like i'd stuck a knife in her back.
She ignored me. I thought it would last for a few weeks only,but it didn't. I left for school in February while she stayed at home in Lag. She doesn't pick my calls and the only way i know stuff about her is through my mom. As it is now she's still cutting me off. Idk when or if that's gonna end.

This topic is dead. The matter has been resolved. Things didn't exactly turn out the way i wanted them to,but stuff happens,i guess.

A girl saying a guy's childish because he plays video games seems pretty silly to me. As long as he doesn't take it to the extreme or anything,he has a right to do whatever he wants in his leisure time. What's the difference between a guy who likes playing games and a girl who likes reading novels? Gaming and reading are both activities that are perfectly acceptable if they're done in moderation.
I like reading and i would be pretty pissed if someone just assumed that the fact that i read a lot means i'm an unserious and dreamy sorta person.

This thread is for all Uniben students on Nl right now. If you've passed out then this isn't for you;this thread is for current Uniben students.
I think we should all have a place where we can join heads,share info and just generally help each other.
This isn't exactly a meet-up thread or anything,although if you do wanna meet up/hook up/worreva,then that's cool. I just had the idea of this thread being the den of information and interaction.
I think we should introduce ourselves(although you don't have to be too detailed if you don't want to),ask questions,share info,etc etc.
P.s-Let's try not to post too many rumors. Pls try and verify your info before posting it,if you are posting it as credible info. If it's just a rumor you're passing on,then please add that so some poor Unibenite doesn't faint after reading something like matric's tommorow(when he's still battling with auditorium clearance).
I'll go first:I'm Atreides(and no,that's not my birth name,but you gotta admit-it's pretty cool) and i'm in Ecostat,100 level.
So here's my tidbit for the day:I hear that Lectures are ending on Monday in preparation for NUGA. NUGA games start on the 16th.
Anyone in Ecostat who needs help with how to proceed after Auditorium clearance can ask me. I should add that i didn't exactly do mine in a specific order but i got everything done. I can give you details about the various fees you have to pay and the rooms you have to pay them at,etc etc.
Now here's a question for y'all:Does Anyone know when we'll Matriculate?

I never read romance novels because they're sooo damn predictable and they bore me to tears. Same storyline:Boy meets girl,Boy loses girl,Boy and girl get back together again & all is well with the world.
The only romance novels i can manage to read are historicals.
In every love triangle i always root for the underdog(eg i really really want someone/thing to just kill Stefan so Damon and Elena can finally be together).
