Who also got a mail from First Registrar about a reminder to fill a form for Stanbic Bonus. I didn’t even see the actual mail anyway.

You may want to check your mail for action in case you are affected.

Yes that is actually the target of the regulators and operators.

In the nearest future what SEC, CSCS and Registrars want to achieve is to harmonize investors data such that as you open your cscs account through a broker all details including your bvn and bank account details will be send to the registrars.

The first step was carried out not too long ago when stockbroking firms were asked to collect the kyc and update of all their clients.

Like I said in my previous post things have improved and still improving.

I'm sure the likes of PA Emma can relate to those days where it's a must to have a current account before you can get your dividend that will get to you may be after three months from payment date sometimes the dividend warrant would have expired before getting to you.
Hahaha! The kind jijo wey go follow this thing ehn. Some investors will suddenly discover they had some jijo spirit in them all along.

Seems so. This "simple" thing can make some difference for participation in the Nigerian stock market. If price doesn't move, it might yield claimable dividend.

Could it be that NGX has moved to a new level with dividend admin. I bought Okomu and got my dividend without applying for it. I got it in my savings account, while all my dividend applications are for Current account.

Also, other pending applications got paid into same savings account.

Has NGX done the expected with BVN? Anyone with this experience?

Hello everyone, great job y'all are doing here. Pls can someone kindly explain this stock business to me? I've been reading from page 6000 and I can only infer that it's buying and selling. Is it all to it?
How do one know when to buy?
How are the purchases done?
I know that experience will teach me which shares to buy or not buy, but kindly educate a lay man like me that is new to all this. Thanks alot
There are a lot of resources online. You can’t hack it without researching and reading. Keep reading, here and other sources.
The idea is not to start trading immediately. Like someone indicated, the market is going nowhere. When you are ready, it’s there. I started following the market as far back as 2003 and could only get actively involved from 2011.

However, summarily from me:
All companies you see are either privately owned (Ltd) or publicly quoted (Plc)
Publicly quoted companies allow anyone so interested to be a part owner (shareholder)
A shareholder becomes an owner by buying shares of the company after it has been broken down into shares.
Shares are units of any public quoted company.
The stock exchange (NSE) is the only Ladipo market for shares trading, where you can buy shares and sell those shares if no longer interested.
Shareholders profit from companies by 1) taking their share of profits(dividends) which can be once a year or two times.
2) by selling the shares they have whenever the price goes beyond the purchase price.
The dynamics of the above is why books have been written and we have over 6000 pages of rich insights, jokes, camaraderie, fights and insults on this thread. (Mind you very many other pages were lost during a glitch sometime ago).

I wonder if this counts as a summary though. Just my own way of providing answer to your question.

Peace.

Sorry I don't follow news of companies that don't ever pay dividend. It's an indication for me not to touch a stock. JIJO doesn't work for me. If e no increase in price for sale, at least during my waiting time, if cycle of dividend comes, I should collect consolation price.

I guess other registrars will start catching on gradually.

Just checked the registrars website, Atlas registrars. Unclaimed dividends aplenty. If I recall clearly, the registrar used to be Flourmills Registrar Ltd. Maybe an inhouse department kinda. That might be responsible for plenty unclaimed dividends. They seemed so analogue then even the envelope they posted their correspondence with. cheesy

Anyway, I think a new dawn is here. Maybe someone discovered it's a way to sustain investors' interest. You can't sell and you can't profit from dividends declared. As someone used to say here, if he no v*****t, e go p***h.

I want to thank the person who shared the United Securities link here. I used it to request and just some 10 minutes ago, I got all my pending dividends for Access, MTN and Dangcem. Surprising is the Dangcem I have sold off long ago.

Hopefully, this will have effect on other registrars. If we can process dividends this easy, it’s a happy new dawn.

The "new" FBNH started dividend numbering from 01. FBN Plc stopped at Div. 55

I hope a ban doesn't follow this as we have read. Well, I seldomly post. I guess it would have elapsed before I know about it.

If it is a glitch, we might be asked to refund or we have collected some dividends in advance.

Feedback is one factor that makes e-dividend processing cumbersome. You have to wait till a payment day to know if your request was successful.

Please, is it possible that registrars pay a part of your outstanding dividends while others are pending with them? If yes, error or technicality?

After waiting for ages and my Julius Berger dividend came through, I was paid the dividend of the exact year. I had been holding JB shares for like two years prior to that.

Any ideas please? Thanks.

Find below a court judgement in full support of your write up.

Esenowo v Ukpong [1999] 6NWLT [PT 608]* 611. CAN THE WAY ONE WRITES HIS/HER NAME TURN THAT PERSON TO SOMEONE ELSE BEFORE THE LAW?*

*Be careful, therefore, to ensure that you write your name (whether in full or initials) in the proper order always and everywhere. Remember, the way you write your name can make you someone else, as it happened, unfortunately, to Dr. Johnson Esenowo Esenowo. This is the law on how you should write your name properly.*
Thank you very much

Heishere:
You go grow grey hair before they manage to attend to your request.
On the issue of frustration by registrars, maybe this experience might help some persons:

I once had quite a number of pending e-dividend requests and was frustrated after multiple submission of applications to my bank, and DHL of requested documents to my stockbroker.

I recall I had to go update my ID document at my bank and a customer care staff observed that the order of my name on the ID document was different from that on my BVN, hence the bank account. BVN was done at an e-branch of the same bank and the mistake was made. I had observed it on my ATM card but didn't think much of it.

Someone I consulted told me that, legally, the BVN name order and name order on my ID documents are for different persons. E.g. Adekunle Chukwuma Ciroma is different from Chukwuma Adekunle Ciroma even though it's the same person writing their name differently.

I went through an arduous journey of swearing an affidavit at the court and going to the line up at the notoriously queue-laden, few branches, you-know-which orange bank for the name to be corrected.

After that, the dividends started pouring in. It was a delight actually. You are just on your own doing your thing and a random look at your phone Afriprud has paid all dividends from a particular stock for so many years. Yes, that was when I got my pending dividend from JB's GTL Registrars.

The sad thing is no one told me NAME ORDER was the problem until that chance observation by the bank staff. I think about this possibility as one of the many problems whenever I see news items about the billions of unclaimed dividend and how government is unable to sleep well because of it. I think a feedback system is going to reduce it. Let people know why that form they submitted is not being treated. That should be easy in this digital age.

SUMMARY:
If you are having problems getting your dividends, check if the order of your name on BVN is same as on your ID document. Seems registrars' system will flag it as not to be attended to once name orders don't match.

SUMMARY OF SUMMARY Check the NAME ORDER on your BVN and your ID documents. Do they match?!

Peace!

Thank you sir. Do you have any Idea in what category is Veritas Registrars (difficulty of registration, I live very far from Lagos)? I noticed they cover zenith bank shares.

It is like I will only be keeping selected companies for dividend collection (one or two), since registration can be difficult.

I assume someone can make close to the dividend yield by entering the market somehow near the dividend payment period and exit just before it.
In my experience, Veritas has been the easiest.

A certain global investment company have been trading peoples money and paying them dividend monthly for years. The way it works is that the trader takes 10% of whatever interest is generated monthly while either giving 90% pay out to the investor or reinvesting it depending on the choice of the client. But you people on nairaland always see a legit business and call it scam, yet when businesses like mmm came most people fell for it. We keep suspecting God but trusting satan wholeheartedly. A quick question, house: Access & GTBank, which is faster with United Securities' E-dividend processing?

I would prefer GTBank, but I don't know if Access bank's association with United Securities will bring any benefits to the table ...

Please, if you have processed United Securities' E-dividend with any of them, kindly let me know how long it took to be credited with outstanding dividends.

Thanks in advance
Also still waiting on United Securities. A problem with these registrars is how they don’t usually give feedback unless you pester them. In the days of paper communication, I recall First Registrars will send you a paper where they tick what the problem is so you know what to do. This feedback issue is one reason I think e-dividends keep piling.

"IT'S GOOD TO FULFIL ALL RIGHTEOUSNESS" SAID THE LORD, ... THE DAY HE WAS BAPTIZED.
THEREFORE, WE ALL THAT ARE ALIVE SHOULD BE BAPTIZED. THOSE BAPTIZED AS INFANTS,
WHEN THEY COULDN'T SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES, SHOULD BE RE BAPTIZED NOW THAT THEY
HAVE GROWN AND COULD ANSWER WITH THEIR OWN MOUTH, LIKE THE EUNUCH BELOW. AND
BY IMMERSION, IN DEEP WATER/RIVER.

Acts 8:36-38 King James Version (KJV)
And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is
water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart,
thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he
commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the
eunuch; and he baptized him.

BESIDES, THE LORD TOLD THE APOSTLES TO BAPTIZE THOSE THAT BELIEVED. THEREFORE, IT
IS WRONGTO BAPTIZE A CHILD WHO MAY NOT WANT TO BE A CHRISTIAN WHEN HE GROWS UP.

Mark 16:16 King James Version (KJV)
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

ONE CAN STILL MAKE HEAVEN WITHOUT BEEN BAPTIZED LIKE THE THIEF ON THE CROSS. BUT
YOU CAN'T DECEIVE OR OUT SMART THE LORD, CAUSE HE KNOWS THAT YOU DIDN'T REPENT AT

MARANATHA!
I get your drift about the human rights aspect and how one can be saved without baptism. Your example of the thief on the cross is lucid. I also think of those who died confessing faith in Christ before they could be baptised. So what is the fate of the baptized child and the baptiser. Are they going to hell or something is impaired in their Christian lives for carrying out the baptism? I ask sincerely. Not to argue.
