DUNKA:Fan Milk has been stuck at N20 for about two years now. I guess those holding may find it difficult to sell. The parent company from Holland or so wanted to buy off all the shares. They offered N20. That has been the price ever since. Can’t recall the actual year now. |
Chibuking81:Novenas commenced. God will prove His might. |
If I have ranted here about Japaul, it is only right to come back here’s to sing. My school fees from Japaul Capital Market College was refunded today. E remain Afromedia Technical Stockmarket Polytechnic. I hope they refund too. eni ori yo, o di ile. |
But the 1kobo rule does not mean the likes of Japaul will stop reporting loss habitually, annually. I just pray that somehow, the rule helps me offload Japaul and Afromedia, my only two remaining regrettable mistakes which I have converted to learning experience. Time for another person to start learning. I imagine the relief of the person I bought from. Same way I felt when I was able to gerrout of Mutual Benefits. |
jamace:I claim this for Japaul and Afromedia. I hereby solemnly promise not to make such mistake again. I entered when they were already dead thinking I was doing penny stocks hunting. Well, they were part of my lesson. I have been wary of so called penny stocks. Now that I have learnt, can my punishment stop. |
When applying for e-dividend at First Registrars in their Ibadan office, I also applied for online access to monitor my shares with them. After I gained access, I saw that for the times that I sold off all my holdings in First Bank and when I again bought, the same shareholder account number was maintained. (That means when I had 0 units and when I later bought, my account number did not change). I will like to know if this holds for all Registrars?! In which case, one can sell off one's entire holdings and when you buy again, you don't have to apply newly for e-dividend. Presently, I have the strategy of retaining 100 units of a company's shares when I have to sell. The stress I went through for e-dividend application is scary when you consider how many Registrars one might have to deal with. Inputs please?! |
pluto09:Thank you. Helpful responses. God bless you. |
Thank you. Could that e-dividend friendly bank be GTB or Diamond. It will be crazy that after queuing for over one hour in GTbank they tell you go we can't accept it. pluto09: |
Please, still on this e-dividend matter. I know that on the e-dividend mandate forms there is a slot for you to fill in your shareholder's account number as part of the requirements. In a situation where you just bought shares newly in a company and have not received dividend warrant for you to know your shareholder's number, can one still go ahead to process the e-dividend without putting the shareholders number?! Thanks. |
sentoms:Yes. Good service. I testify. |

kotlass: I'll bet the .50k quoted are the nominal units not price. Even First Atlantic IPO didn't sell for 0.50k. It sold for N1.50k I think. So donclark, your type of question can be better answered by the custodian of those shares. CSL Registrars. |
@donclark, when FCMB bought Finbank, your dad's shares reduced. If he bought finbank shares at .50k, then an investment of N50000 should be around 100,000 units. (There are charges too from brokers) So, you have an idea of his initial holding. Visit the registrar possibly with an authorization letter from pop or go together. |
Aks: Good morning guys, i have a feeling that the fees my stockbroker is charging is on the high side (BUY -1.855% & SELL - 2.185%), I'll appreciate you guys to help me send rates @ ur respective stockbrokers end and revert.ARM Securities Sell: 1.856% Buy: 2.186% |
When did he buy at 29? My entry in recent times was also at 29 and that should be early 2013 or thereabout. Then it started the drop and I was able to acquire more and average down to N13. If he also entered then, and having waited so long, he could have still waited. But being ceo of your portfolio, stop loss and urgent need could make u sell anytime. |
courage89: Guys, I apologize. I didn't mean to spam the site with all these political posts. Can the mod please hide these posts.Since you are the author, I think there's a way for you delete them. Maybe you click on "modify" or something |
You need to gather knowledge before venturing. READ UP. Use Google. Keep following this thread. Don't be carried away by how many people are making money from the present time. The market is always there and it keeps getting better year on year. |
immanuello: Audacious you are right on that because i knew he said he would use a huge sum to buy more vessels to boost his business but yet that does not mean a solid earning expectation that can improve the profitability of the coy is on the way with jegede-management style of running his coy.Action speak volume of words i mean good result speaks louder and eloquently than jegede words.History has show that jegede's pronouncement is quiet not relied upon.My friend jegede talks alot though i like him but he hasnt get it right in turning his coy to better runned coy in such a way that shareholders would be happy or benefit alots unlike CONOIL,NESTLE,GTB,JULIUS BERGER,UACN-PROP,UACN etc.But let wait and see maybe ............jegede has got mgt prowess this year to turn d coy around.Same gut feelings about fruits Japaul produce but what with the many offshore subsidiaries. Don't those companies in other countries count for the growth and status of the mother company at home? I think they've even got a subsidiary in the middle east. |
immanuello: Born 2 to be rich, there is nothing that push japaul oil up than sentiment based on the privatization of refineries news because there is no any going concern that japaul earnings will be robust in near term to come.I think our mercylicious babe knows this.Hi,duxomega you hv made ur loot on this,u hv profited frm d news.Japaul has gone to sokoto and will now go to its old national park, oyo.I can't recall the actual time, but I recall Japaul came out in 2013 to say they just made some strategic investment and do not expect returns to come in early. Something about buying new tanker barges and they hinted at long term returns. |
laz_inc: Menh!! I can see loads of institutional investors in the house. Everyone is talking in millions.Hmmm. The N5,000 investors should plssss not be discouraged though. Been there. Done that. One should just ALSO be happy one is in the market to play the "game". I remember the thrill of my first shares: 50 units of oando at 97.50.(2002±). What's that with the current goings-on! The "air-breathing, mama ejiro-going institutions" are the ones keeping the market alive I guess. And they are many! Lol |
BelloSKK: Please, may I have your phone number and email, I would like to be getting some pieces of advice from you as regards stock to buy/ sell. Please don't break this happy family. We all eat from the same pot. Just ask your questions in the open. Your questions and people's answers benefit you and all, even the gurus. That's how we grow here. That made this thread get to over 170 pages. |
9free: Oga Oracle, welcome on board.Boss, you are one of them - Mentors. |
The factors that keep the stock market alive are at it again. Fear/Greed. Interestingly, they are justified. They are "virtues" you must have. The "foolish buyers" of Transcorp and Oando now might start declaring "Mama Ejiro" later and the cautious ones go green with jealousy. If the table turns, the Nostradamuses will stomp around happily chanting "I said it. I warned you all. Thank God I exited the bus". Just be a CEO of your portfolio and be responsible for your decision so that you don't oscillate between happiness and sadness like a fan. May God bless this group - enrichingly entertaining. |
henrimoto: proffessors in the house, pls, help! which correct site can i get the TRUE outstanding shares of most quoted companies.... africanselect and bloomberg no know as e dey go @times.Try www.proshareng.com You will be required to register. Site's a good info centre. |
princemolak: Guys, none of my question on dis thread as ever been answerd,i hope this wil mak an history ,guys pls here is my question"is it advisable to buy omatech, japaul, abc transport and courteville now for a short term,i mean 2 months"I love me some humour. You already made it. |
Akinmail: please help please help please help please help please helpAs you have been told, you can with such small amount. If you get a stockbroker that accepts you as a client with such small amount, I advice you steadily build up your portfolio with consistent investments till it is worth about 50k and then you can either port to a well-established firm or continue with your broker if you are satisfied. Sorry to say that the bigger requirement sum is at times a testimony to quality of service and your own delight as an investor. There is a different experience when you trade 300 units of a particular stock and when you are able to trade 20,000 units of same stock. Number and volume matter here. What your broker is allowed to charge as commission on N2000 trade is so negligible that he might be discouraged to take you on or even charge you a flat rate that will be higher than it should be. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED though. If you have financial discipline, then save up more and while at it, I repeat a classic advice on this thread, READ POSTS FROM THE BEGINNING. Nothing is new here again. It is one of the investments you make to become good investor. Every question has been asked and answered in a different form in the past here. Cheers. |
Ess: My broker was like that until I started giving him some mathematical equations with equality symbols thus:If you don't watch your back in stocks, nobody does. That explains why some won't touch stocks with a long pole. It's too much work for them. |
Everything about investment na risk. Be audacious, but on your own bill, after due diligence. I guess they are banking on turnover. Many customers will mean "losses" are averaged out. |
kingofmoney: Is the stock trading being talked about online? How do I start? Can someone pls educate me. I'm a newbieIt may look cumbersome but read the posts from the beginning. It is like reading an entire book and I tell you it is worth it. Let your investment start with the time you invest in that. By the time you get to reading this again, you would have acquired some bags of knowledge. You don't want to jump into opening a stockbroking account or trading now until you know so much. Then you can start building your kingdom. Cheers. |
