skj1377:What i'm i seeing ..but why do you have to change the sport shocks that many of us are dyeing for, why nna? Do you know that many can bet their testicle for it? You would have altered the perfect sporty balancing of the car and the sporty beauty we like to see but may now make your car resemble some kind of antelope. Let me beg you to retain the sport shocks and sport tyres, if they came with that. It plunge some outstanding beauty, especially if you match with low profile tyres with some beautiful rims.. you need to see ma Benz Also, be careful what you are doing with the electricals of that car, dont mean any offense. If you may have to change battery , make sure you are giving it same or higher capacity battery if the one there is bad. if i may ask , why do you want to change the radiator? |
DGD1:Are u sure you can keep with that Beast, cos it surely gonna happen? You better ask for pure water if you gonna have peace of mind, cos i would not have u complain in that S550 ![]() |
DGD1:Here you are, you got it wrong again..if you had read my earlier post, you would have seen where i made mentioned of swiveling and oversteering into the bush to discover a stream in a camry car. Also, if you think they bought the Benz for show, then you are barely reading their minds, and you are wrong.. They bought it for the machine, for the stuff they are made of which is lacking in the Jap mobile: the back axle superior driven mechanics, the strong superior suspension, the turning radius, the tireless long distance travels, stability and agility, the hard braking and maneuvering( is it doughnut, is it stunting , is it performance, is it durability, safety and strength?). You can go on with the list. These are reasons we buy them and not just for show as you may think. |
@Lomo... This is the 3rd party things as per electricals of vehicle that can trickers so much . It even happened to my neighbours 2007 Toyota Camry so much that she had to park the car and went back to her v boot That was Toyota little attempt to go luxury see what they faced, how much more those who have been buried in luxury for yrs. Ask for the Benz , you would be surprise that without any repair you would be surprised at how those component would start working again on its own without any repairs , so far the owner keeps on using the vehicle and take good care of cleaning it , especially socket wires relays and fuses terminating ends. so its really nothing to worry about. that is electrical for you , its not a Benz thing . it could have been any other car like the example of the spider , if they dare it.. Dirt most time causes those things , especially if the vehicle has been parked for 2 long in a dirty condition It happen to me when i bought my c class newly from a careless Nigerian, Though the said car has now turn grade. My inner light gauge , etc refuses to work , all i had to do was just to unplug electrical components clean them up and fix them back and use the right or recommended battery amps for my car and the whole wahala stop. Little wonders the unreliability hypes and facade, why people goes to pay fortune to get little issues resolved, that would have just needed little but thorough clean up. These are electricals and dirts and partial contact, and nothing more. You don't need to pay any bills here |
DGD1:I got every inch of the gist, but i'm only telling us that, that the reliability thing is a facade. The real issues are these time bombs waiting to explode some days. If you were to be in an automobility active state like mine, you would be met with enough evidences on the downside of these Toyotans(Rx and Highlander, icluding exterra. i will snap a few shot to show you if am chance) in a daily basis , then you will ask yourself if it is only Toyota that mad men drives. It is not, its just the defect of the car in their bid to cutdown cost at all cost, ignoring vital issues as such. If you saw a Benz roll over, watch out, the mechanic may have played some pranks with the stabilizer linkages, or thyroid, or bowjoint, and that is even very very rare even by the worst careless owners of decades of ownership |
praxisnetworks:Never, because they are handled by responsible people who do good washing down part in and out . A careless person wouldn't afford that. Hence, could never be rendered to any rusty condition. I have owned 2 Benz's that aged over a decade (in an even a salty topography)without any rust because i wash my car myself and kept to the rules. I'm usually amazed when i heard and witness these rust thing in some Benz, i use to wonder how manage? But lo , its no other reason than dirty careless ownership |
praxisnetworks:Buy Mercedes S class(or any other sedan) and Lexus of same model year and subject both under same environmental condition,be it harsh or normal, come back a few yrs to compare the rate of depreciation among the two, both physical and mechanical wise then you would conclude your hypothesis which one is actually a hype- and which you could actually continue owning over years again? Then you will know they are not mate in any circumstance and can never be compared even though claimed to be on the same level. They get rusted by careless owners who left muddy and salty water settle on hidden parts. From experience, if you wash stuffs clean and rinse out , both under and hidden parts, i bet you you will never find any evidence of rust. Why they get rusted under such careless act is because they are made of certain higher grade pan that is meant to last more than normal. I prefer that to those strip down bournvita pan like used in those jap mobiles to prevent rust and to cut down cost. |
lomomike:Same here, good night ..got to wash my car very early and be in church as early as too |
i dey on as usual..u nkor? |
To add to that , just make sure you buy what tickles your fancy(you are buying for your leisure not for another mans dream) so that you could spare the time to take good care of it, just learn to understand it and you'll be fine. Lomo, you worn nothing, its different folks for different strokes. I'll celebrate you with edikanikon & afan when ever u down South in my abode |
lomomike:Well, i dont think i can spare my time again on this , whatever your claims are is left for you, but for me i can't bet my testicle for any TOYO.. nor JAP mobile not after all the heck that i've seen, experience and witness with those shackles of machines. How do i convince myself that the very bad omen i saw and witness and experienced on a daily basis were just an illusion, to hail with these crabs... If i cant afford a Benz, or some German ride that fit my style and tickles my fancy and keep to the rules, then i stay without a ride. No Jupiter of pocket friendly analysis or whatever myths will make me bow to acquire some suicidal setups in the name of motto for point A to B, period. I dont do front wheels, not even the type that Benz started compromising with for some gains per se. |
DGD1:It is no news to know that your toyota nor any other front wheel drive car cant stand a rear wheel driven car most especially in the category of Benz or any other German car except you want to tell me that your Toyota is an exception than the Toyota that we know. For you< who maybe much more experience on the wheels with a prepared "plan b" state of mind to outsmart an unsuspicious and unprepared novice in that category doesn't debunk the very well stated fact that your Toyota couldn't have done better in sharp bends than a Benz car nor any other German product whether by trance, dreamland, or in this life. Why not call me to such contest ad lets settle this record once and for all? If you saw a German car that turns the owner to mechanic, ask him the kind of fuel he uses, if that is the recommended fuel for his car? if you saw the one that frequent mechanic, ask him if his mechanic do understand his electricals and had been doing justice to it? or he has just been destroying his car. 90 percent of the problems of German cars arose from the fact that her owners have not using the recommended fuel(premium fuel) and or treated fuel. The remaining 10 percent stemmed from improper electrical diagnoses which is common among such loaded vehicle be it German or Japanese, same thing goes. lomomike:I have no doubt that you of all men absolutely know what i'm talking about, but dont mislead others. I'll give you life scenarious: Just come to Mgbouba Area and stand for like 3 hours at any car stand there while just watching the road, you will be shocked at the number of highlander and Lexus Rx that will be towed by as a result of uncontrollable outlandish flip overs, then "fever go catch you". My friend just left his infinity fx 35 cross over for a Lexus rx330 because he taught the later was cheaper on pocket than the former, but he only lost his 3m but got his life spared miraculously by air bags when he summersaulted 8 times on Delta Warri express Road on his way to Benin . When asked he said he taught he was driving his infity fx 35, not knowing he was driving a time bomb waiting to explode someday My colleagues nephew whose been driving his Benz c280 on similar errands, just took his wife highlander and got carried away as if he was crusing a German beast, he ended up discovering a new stream for the native of Isokko, after he oversteered and somersaulted into the bush and lost the million naira wagon or what ever name you call it. My senior colleague beg me for a ride to town because he wasn't conversant with the area (and did not want to get stocked up by holdup), i oblige and gave him a treat in my usual freaky pleasurable driving style trowing and wagging my tail here and there while sweeping through and avoiding the traffic with daring breaking and forward acceleration and some kind of "doughnut" approach on my steering (else no need to be on the road). When we finally return in shorter than expected time he asked, "Do you so much trust your brakes as like that?" I responded hundred percent for over a decade now. he shook his head and told me how his brand new Toyota corolla brakes fail him about twice in what was suppose to be an emergency braking. He was coming on top speed on the airport road, only to see a man open the door of his car and just lean by it on the road discussing on phone, and a 7 tonne vehicle was coming in the opposite direction with the speed of a wild whirl wind too . He suddenly match his brakes to stop for the 7 tonne to pass before he will maneuver and continue, but the brake went flat, he shouted and struggle with the steering and manage to pass with 2 broken side mirrors and a little scratch from the "911" but the the faulted was ok though he felt down out of shock and would have almost been unconscious. This is just one of the occasions. I told him that i wasn't surprise because their car uses brake pad on 2 out of the 4 wheels while the rest are brake lining that can fail at any time just to minimise cost, where as my GERMAN MACHINE USES BRAKE PAD on ALL 4 WHEELS else i wouldnt be wagging my tail the way i did with confidence. A woman was driving along the east west road, she suddenly hit a low bavement stone that was still under construction, the Lxus Rx just flip and fall 3 times and stood back on it wheels while subjecting the clean ride to a wreck of its own, leaving the woman unconscious. She wasn't on any speed that could have resulted into such unnecessary flip over and wreckage... |
honmusa:Nice concept..Very interesting |
lomomike:I feel you brother..The almost recent models of rover are nightmares to any careless person. I for one would not go near it. Do mistake once the car is gone forever. I have a friend who abandoned his 2007 Rover and kiss it good bye at his mechanic for a 2006 Lexus Rx330, after spending an almost equivalent amount he bought the car for nothing. The whole episode started with a gearbox failure whom every effort to tackle was to no avail, it further lead to engine, brain box and gearbox replacement and some sensors, but all to no avail. The real truth behind her component is that once you miss the part number to any components replacement, that may be the beginning of an endless nightmare-and can be very unforgiving no matter the heaven and earth that your mech would promise you. But all that not withstanding, our boys have a good grasping of the earlier models and they are not that so unforgiving. Outside, they are very sweet driving machine, and very practical too. N/B: What i meant by cheap Jap wasnt in any way to slide, but for the fact that these cars uses less than modest materials, cheap technology and budget components to fabricate their ride and have so much fake, substandard, but affordable spares in our market and for the fact that they have completely done away with the rear driven technology that was practical in the earlier models like Toyota supra, Toyota crown,Toyota Cresida, Mitsubishi Eclipse,Hyundae etc, etc. I'm amazed to see an suv being front wheel driven, what a mock. In his newly bought 2006 lexus rx330, he came running to me with an almost completely drained engine oil that would have almost knock the engine if he had thrown caution to air, and if not for the new tech mechanism that wouldn't let you crank it at that condition. To cut the long story short, i was even thinking that the sum protector was broken , if not on a more serious examination did i found out that it was the oil filter that was the culprit here(oil filter of barely three weeks in a car that only moves few meters to and fro work).Commonest thing like oil filter, fake ones unbelievably flood our market. If you happen to see the original one, "you couldn't afford it". if you happen to do a sudden emergency hard braking in corolla, etc the brake fails. You do a little under-steering in a bend the shaft pull. You do a little doughnut or burnout in a competitive driving/drag race, it swivels such that the rear end feels like pulling away. I mean what a budgeted risk with human life? This what i mean by being cheap. |
praxisnetworks:Indeed my bros Eyop:My dear i have been following oyibo in their infotech till i got lost ..They are fine thankyou |
leTrizzle:That use to be in the past. i repeat Kompressor is a little thing overhere now, it cost nothing to fix.. absolutely nothing.. I dont need to write any extensive essay on it again. I didnt see the other partas per the "not responsive"....Its a fuel trim issue . Like my brother rightly said , just scan to have peace of mind But i can quickly tell you that its a fuel trim issue. You've been using the wrong fuel extensively over time , cleaning/changing the plugs alone will not help. You have already got some build up in your engine as a result of predominant use of unleaded fuel in your Benz. Secondary, you may need to clean the nuzzles and the merge/little filter valve that connect to it too and blow your fuel line, if dirt should contribute too, as well as treating your fuel extensively then will your car be normal again . That is, if you fuel sending unit in the tank have not started misbehaving too when you are low on fuel. |
lomomike:The truth is that any of these high end or premium vehicle and formula one are expensive to maintain. If you follow that, you will never buy them but end up with cheap Japanese and korean cars. People buy them for the love of it and found out that they aint so expensive as thought to maintain in Naija soil, because the locals have come to understand them(the earlier models as such) and are now doing great wonders with them in naija price range tag |
grafixdon:You can get a car at any price depending on your taste..but you must get ready to do some fixes to soot your taste. Ask those mechanics how much they buy their , and you will be shocked |
leTrizzle:2000 model w202 Konpressor does, even with engine and steptronic gearbox swag and sunroof |
1stola:How i wish you could make a little sense , and not just finding GEJ to blame, or send waves of wrong advice over the web. Every country of the world now grabs good quality gigantic investment from anyone irrespective of where you come from that comes to their country to boost their economy, and Nigerian politicians from looting our country has such world class welcome huge investment in South Africa which they readily accepted from the thief thief politicians and gold diggers with open mind(world class - Hospitals; Schools; Refineries; Industries and other huge investment that could have been better established here at home to render employment and boost our economy Now the few South African companies that dare to come to our soil to invest of all countries of the world, defiling the harsh climatic structures rendered by your greedy politicians over years, to offer a little employment and add a little value to your economy, you are advising them out? Where as south Africa is sending away the menial labourers, useless and the not so rewarding investment out of their country(though in a very unkind, unethical, barbaric and insane uncivilized ingratitude manner) to give them a space, you are now trying to do the opposite by sending away the rewarding ones and leaving the lunatics, useless and beggers from Niger etc etc in our country to continue to constitute nuisances here. When will we grow up in thoughts and wisdom? |
ITbomb:No matter how reliable it is, those legs scares in naija roads. There is never a day i dont see one accord or aka "EOD" leg pull on our roads. I'm usually scared and asked myself, what if this were to be on a fast lane on the highway? Also, their gearbox in naija is a case study. My friend change his 2 years ago for a lot more than 250 thousand naira, barely 3 months he bought the car, after consecutive repairs of about 45 thousand naira each, afterwards he started looking for a buyer and sold it for a w202 kompressor Benz before he had peace of mind..I have never repaired my Benz to sum that amount ever since i bought it 3 years ago. You could drive a benz a whole year without changing a breakpad. if you obey rules of abuse, you could drive the engine of a benz forever. If you use the right fuel or treat your fuel properly, your benz can remain like new for more than a dacade. So , that research has k leg, certain things like poor maintenance culture should have been factored into it. I dont even give a dame about it, i remain with Benz or Beemer |
popcykaylah:Do not insult him for being sincere, cos u could have performed worst.. given the kind of condition(country ungovernable) he found himself |
hmmm! |
greatkamala:Guy , if you are driving a car hard, and changing from lower gears to upper gears the RPM has to go up and get settle to lower rpm at higher stable cruising to like 3000rpm or thereabout, so it isnt a toyota camry thing. Whether be it Porsche or lambo or beetle, it does the same thing. |
heryyy:Mehn! time has changed , this is small speed for me even in naija, roads are getting better..its no big deal anymore for me so far my stabilizers , shocks, arms and bushings are in order(including alignment and proper wheel balancing with my wider wheels and low profile tires). Just going to work daily on a normal day within city,on the east/west road i hit 120/140km/h as in normal driving. But for your car to stand it, that means your ride is in order . kudos May i ask, what car is that? |
MadCow1:Your name already tells the idiot you are so i reserve my comment |
Stylz69: Fixed:THANKS YARE FOR SPOTTING THAT OUT, I THINK I NEED TO VISIT MY PRIMARY CHEMISTRY AGAIN. YOU CAN DO THE CORRECTION FOR ME IF YOU DONT MIND... THIS CHEMISTRY SEF DE THINK NO DEY GREE STAY FOR HEAD OH!!! CORRECTED THOUGH. |
Ordinary water could work well when it comes to flushing out the dirts/sand and also in the event that you have finished washing your car and got it dirty somehow , you could use ordinary water to flush and wash out the dust, drts and sand particles before coming to mop out your car as earlier described either with or without hydrate with a wet microfiber clothe. Make sure you constantly rinse out sand particles from this clothe so that you do not use it to constantly scratch you clear coat. Outside this, ordinary water is not good enough as a conventional washing method. Reason is that atmospheric oxygen will always react with water to form oxidation (CO2+H2 = C0+H2O) on you paint work. This often changes the color of your paint as well as causing it to lose its shiny lustre property. But a well formulated car wash rather forms a protective shiny cover ontop of your paint work glossing it out to shine, aside washing out the dirts which are carried away by the surd, that is why you must rinse out the surd with enough clean water and avoid washing under direct sunlight, except you have enough clean water handily to rinse out immediately as you wash each portion |
Waoh!! interesting topic. If i hadn't been there i would have been confused a lot more. But thank God i have 2 experiences, I bought my w202 c class Nigerian use , the painting work was scratched so i decided and gave it a neat spraying job but not a very expensive type like the amount mentioned here. I spotted a dude who does it well over here and he did it for me . This is the 3rd year and i bet you it will still remain like that for the next 10 years, my car is only looking finer by the day. Out of gratitude, i introduce 4 more guys to him a jaguar guy amongst them who inherited from his Dad, the guy did his and the jaquar turns new and he was able to sell at a very good price and went for a car he could maintain. Out of the four of us, my car still stands out as the best amongst them. People keep on asking me if i respray it every now and then. So the other 3 guys came to me for advice and i put them through , now they are very happy with their cars still looking good except one of them who had already mess his with all sort of lines and scratches here and there, an honda EOD, and i kept on wondering how he did such a mess. The bottom line is, some guys knows their onions , they may not even be expensive like this dude, but make sure you delibrately allow them room to make some profit for themselves , a craft man deserve this. Don't drag price with an honest painter. There are ways to maintain your car paint, don't use dry dusty/sandy rag to mess the paint work (the clear coat) . Is either you wash it with a soft clothe(microfiber clothe) or you leave it untill you have time to do so with plenty of water . Use mild liquid soap, preferably car wash but not detergent nor toilet/key soap except for the tyres. Always mop up the water from the clear coat with a clean wet microfiber clothe to dry after rinsing out the surd, and preferably with an hydrate spayed on the microfiber clothe if you have one , it help protect the paint and maintains the clear coat from harsh conditions and extreme sunlight. Once in a while(every 6 month) you could wax it to bring out the painting. Never wake up in the morning and just decide to use any rag to rub off the morning dew in the name of cleaning the car. Nothing kills and scratches paint work than this kind of habit. Leave it if you don't have the time to wash, then wash it later. |
IdaraCHODB:Also Port Harcourt /Ikot Abasi Road and Akwa- Ibom freeways, you can do the maga here. Smooth, sweet, silent roads, even on your tyres..just like sliding ontop of water. |
You wont regret buying the rear wheel drive BMW 325i 2006 model, because it will give you what you want in a car, including prestige, respect enthusiast and driveability(fun to drive).Better leverage than the 2006 Audi a4. You may not really need the quattro, all wheel drive Audi, cos it sucks fuel(except from 2014 upward where the fuel economy really improves dramatically for the quattro),the extra component you dont really need that will be sucking your pocket. In Nigeria,in quote, the BMW is much more cheaper to maintain and more reliable than the Audi a4 |
Brimmie:Why would you spoil such a wonderful moment by these kind of thoughtless speeches? GEJ deserves it right..If he were mean he could have used Banbangida's style as in during june 12 and claim it to be in the best interest of the nation , so be wise and be a little sensible, purify your heart. Congratulations GMB and Congratulations GEJ for being a thoughtful sportman, may God help Buhary and strenghten him to get us there soonest and may all our yearnings/expectations for a true and prosperous democracy with diligent distribution of wealth to kick out poverty from the land be met. May God bless Nigeria |
