After posting, as i was reading up d lines as is usually my style i had reason to congratulate Benz on the timing chain stuff(Benz timing chains last with the engine)..i have never had any reason to open my engine bay to change timing belt nor anything apart from modifying my old Benz for performances boost. I think Benz still remains the best machine ever-you have no reason to open your engine except you are a heavy abuser and practically i bought an abuse, very heavily abused c class about 2 &1/2 years ago but ever since i corrected all the element of abuses, this car hardly ever cough again, apart from the last recent element of abuse from the previous owner that prompted me to overhaul my gearbox in my garage to look inside to find that hail of thing that was always hooking my gear, and that was the gear sprocket that controlled gear 1 and 2. And ever since i found an older one from a scrap vboot gear box and replaced it there(cos they are precisely the same) at no cost, i never had the gear hooked again for me to have reason to go under the car again to have gear unhooked as usual. |
oluwaseunla:You are correct guy. The honest truth is that if you mess with the engine of these peugeot cars, you will need a loan to replace. Also, the only set back for me is the cost of their suspension systems, that's suppose to be wear items. And the fact that they all completely turn away from rear wheel drive to front shaft, aside that they are just ok. When we were little kids, I will never forget my uncles 505 st and his 205 gti, no car , i repeat no car including the BM was a match to these rides on the highway, even volkswagen santana would struggle with these rides, anyways that's old glory. My dads double carb 504 modified 2.0 gr was not left out of the game and these cars were own by petrol head and were all back axle driven not to talk of the trans cameroun and desert dweller even till date , the almighty 504 wagon that transmutter uses to cross the roughest Cameroun Nigeria border even with loads, though such suspension systems are no more built in cars these days |
Cyberknight:Just like i never agreed with top gear when they said that that sporty ass of Benz cla is ugly..I nearly would have slapped someone in the air ..that is just their personal opinion, good to say. |
However, there's nothing wrong with the Peugeot 607. Its as good as any other car when well maintained and paid attention to. You dont need to earn a 7 digit salary to be able to own it. In my street one dude of a student owns it and he maintains it well. All you need is to understand the technology behind her and keep in conformity to it that's all. Rule number 1. Don't mess with the electricals, because each wire carries signals which terminate at the control unit , you musn't block nor bypass such signals flow and hope that all will be well..same thing in any other vehicle in that category. Rule 2, you must keep the terminal ends of wires sockets and fuses clean, dont mess them with water or dirt else you dance the music. Rule 3, do proper routine maintenance , use correct oil recommended for your gearbox and engines, then you will never have any headache. dont do short cut, its isnt a mazda 323 nor toyota muscle , kas kia |
Ikenna351:Let it contest with the light weight cla amg then you would tell a different story..S class are meant for big time luxury not contest ,who soever that took the boxy luxury S class to contest must have nutted out brain..Didn't he see the GT AMG or the sls..i tire oh. If you want contest go to the c's .. even the least of the c's, the entry point CLA 45AMG will kick da ass of the damn Peugeot 308, not even to talk of the c400 that will kiss her bye bye |
Ahmed4002:Then what does US want as they could not help when badly needed.. Is it now that the war is worn that they want to take the glory? |
Just dream it , u'll have it |
Gee2728:But they still went ahead and produce the BMW GT(5 series and 3 series GT) in 2009 immediately after the X6 in 2008 which could be confused for the X6 at a distance, if not for the slightly lowered ground clearance. Lets face fact, in my own opinion, the BMW x6 is a much more beautiful suv compared to the very ugly x5

Mercedes being a luxury brand has been fun of non-crampy 4door coupe , you can see that in my most desired cls 500 brand

WisdomFlakes:Have you read your statement? Does this make sense at all..little wonders the kind of idiotic and fish brains behind this daft Buhary's syndrome, agitating a change to hell To start with, in your wildest imagination, how can a dumb person like Buhary rule a country like Nigeria with all her populous intellectuals and complexity..Is that all that APC can filed for presidential candidate to rule my OWN NATION, NIGERIA? Then you must be joking..in a country that has proven leaders like Peter Obi; Donald Duke etc etc . Is APC as a party so dump, or what are they up to? Fools open your eyes .. Don't you see who rules United State; Great Britain; South Africa and so on and so forth..To hell with you and ridiculous Buhary ruling my country, this man can't feature in this century as a leader anywhere in the world talkless of a country like ours, so open your eyes fools..Have you not learnt from the chain of our dump pass presidents where they have landed us, a country that had so much resources? |
Ikenna351:I knew it , so you got it finally? congrats.I'm so happy you did. I have been seeing this 607 in my neighbourhood, each time i drove pass it, my mind went straight to you, ..have just been wondering if only Ikenna had this ride.. Mehn! throw some pictures na make we feed our eyes. Congrats once again. How i wish i could have an MB c350/400 or cls 500 |
ARKdiscloser7:..Including total power failure despite billions voted into it only to disappear into thin air and could not be accounted for . Total wreckage of the Michellin, Dunlop and hundreds of auxilliary industries that provided jobs to thousands of Nigerians, all wrecked due to one man's dull unsavvy brain. And yet , Morons are talking about His endorsement: Endorsement to another ship wreckage. God help Nigeria from all these myriads... |
nurey:You forgot Nissan 350z, Benz cls500, and Benz CLA AMG with BMW M235i |
eniyanpataki:He shouldn't have even manipulated nor force the gear to shift yet, not untill after you would have flushed the wrong atf and replace with the right one; who knows if the gear would have just been ok on its own , but now , i can only wish you goodluck. |
eniyanpataki:Your issues are very clear, you have been dragging this car along with your handbrake on active position..You never can tell the extend of damage that could have occurred. Secondly, your gear will overwork at this juncture and besides that, holt isn't your recommended atf fluid, it will overheat at such driving condition while exposing your transmission to danger as it create an unnecessary, unwanted friction in your transmission internal mechanism, hence overworking it especially in harsh driving conditions such as hold ups. Do first thing first: 1. flush your holt atf and replace with original auto transmission fluid for your car, perhabs your car could return back to normal. If it doesn't, you may have to meet your car specialist and have it scan to know what actually you are dealing with and to ascertain the extent of damage done to it for proper fixing. 2. Make sure too that in future you use the recommended engine oil viscosity for your car , as your oil weight at the moment is too heavy for that car ,hence cannot travel through the tiniest crevixes of your crankcase area. This will only create unnecessary tremendous friction within your engine components, and will reduce the lifespan of that engine. Though this may be unrelated to the issue at stake at the moment. |
lomomike:Yes it does, except i really want to economize fuel do i quickly interrupt wth the 4th gear to get there. Usually, while driving with economy at the back of my mind , i simply let the car accelerate effortlessly(just rolling) as quickly as possible while accelerating/decelerating the gears in ascending/descending order at silent whisper, with minimal breaking and would always like to remain at the highest possible gear that does not give any form of load on the engine. Just crusing. But if i'm out for adventure and fun drive, just enjoying myself , the reverse is the case, gear 3 is usually my weapon , both in downshifting and power take off to the highest possible km/h after taking turn from gear 2 at the best possible rpm. |
Mine happened in an inter state highway in the midnight during when i use to throw caution to air in those days when i just bought the car newly with some hard to diagnose issues(specifically, it was a fuel sending unit and a cam shaft position sensor) i couldn't just know how to handle on time. I had just travelled from Port Harcourt to Calabar, then embarked on another journey from Calabar to Esit Eket in Akwa Ibom state; and decided to return home to Calabar that late night around 10.30 pm so that i could return back to Esit Eket the next day( a distance of about 270 km) with some people for an event. I had passed Calabar Itu road where my car suddenly off on the highway, in the midnight, about 12am. Mehn! it wasn't funny at all, because i tried all i could for the car to start up but to no avail until my battery went flat. I couldn't even find fuel to buy to fill up to the brim whether i could get luck for the motto to startup. Finally i had to push the car to one side and entered the bush to hide away from an unforeseen armed robbers. In the morning i finally went to buy fuel and was able to refill with a 20 litre to the brim with a rented battery, voila , the car started up, one hand i landed it home at Calabar and gave thanks to my God for sparing my life that night. |
Kashif:In 2007, Toyota made a giant stride in her Camry platform, at such made a major breakthrough in her camry sedan for once in performances, electronics and handling. This is the same platform upon which the 2007 highlander and above is built on, so you do not expect anything less except for the boxy and a little more heavier weight of the highlander compared to the Camry sedan but not too good economy compared to the lighter Rav4. |

Nice one . Thanks for the info |
Is this list exhausted? |
yungboss:If you check your water pump and it spins freely with no lateral motion or kind of grinding noises then the culprit is your thermostat. You could equally confirm it by removing to test too before embarking to buy a new one to replace it if you haven't done so already. Good luck |
yungboss:Folks do manage this temperamental cooling system with huge success. Before you finally meet your mechanic try bleeding your cooling system first of all and observe it for a while, you may have some dirt or blockade or trap air in there. This bleeding thing usually works for most folks: Procedure is as follows: Start with the engine cold and Remove the small black bleed screw from the elbow that connects to the expansion tank. Remove the coolant filler cap Turn the ignition on but do not start the engine Turn the climate control to the highest temperature and put the fan on the lowest setting Slowly pour coolant into the expansion tank until coolant runs out of the bleed screw hole keep pouring coolant until you no longer see any air bubbles in the coolant coming out of the bleed screw hole Replace the bleed screw and check the coolant level in the expansion tank Replace the expansion tank cap and start your car while allowing it idle to normal operating temperature and make sure it doesn't rise above 12 Else off the car and start the process all over again after the car must have cool off before taking it out for test drive. good luck If this did not work out your mech can then check the following before commencing the process all over again: Your thermostat to make sure it works properly Your water pump to make sure it spins freely with no lateral motion or grinding noises Your air hoses to be sure they are in good shape, no bulging nor cracking at the connections Your expansion tank/radiator should be check for small crack that could cause leaking Your expansion tank cap to be sure its not letting pressure escape It cant exceed these list for your BMW. I like saving bucks on maintenance, you could DIY these if you chose to . I did it once for my w202, tho not exactly as in BMW as indicated here, but the same procedure all the way. |
yungboss:Yungboss, if u bought a car from Nigeria as fairly use, expect the worst. My friend recently bought what I should call a clean(on the surface) Toyota camry 2004 model aka big daddy(Nigerian Use) I know what we pass through to get it just to function fairly, how much more a 20 year old Benz , such a high end vehicle from no maintenance culture Nigerian I read the stuff behind your benz, not as if it was underpowered as you stated, but the previous owner has already sapped all the useful life out of it without returning any useful maintenance to it prior to your purchase, it happened to me too..Your car in question had lost almost 50% of her power before you bought it initially, you really would have needed a lot of magic to restore such loses just like I did in mine. Very few Nigerians aside you and I do maintain vehicle the proper way. If I told you that my said benz w202 now boost more than any direct Belgium vehicle, its an understatement-but that is why I’m able to travel with it often, a like today I’m in Calabar for the Christmas yuletide(a distance of 257 km) and would soon move to AKS to Ibene Beach for same reason with same Benz and would return back to Calabar same day and to PH finally when I’m done with the yuletide without her conceiving any headache(we are talking about distance totalling more than 1000km here within a week without replacing a single bolt nor breakpad nor got top burnt.. Yes its no news about substandard plastics within BMW components, that’s why some patrol head diversify into superior after market plastic components, but that is not an issue to me per ser, as over here these are cheap fixes |
So lovely |
yungboss:Your assertion with the w203 failure rate may not be far fetch , but most of the disorderly is as a result of negligence and carelessness, sometimes flood do play a vital role here, and in some cases non conformity to the myriads of rules governing such sophistications and high precision machine needs to be adhered to. You mustn’t use the wrong grade oil on the transmission; you mustn’t by pass wiring and obstruct free flow of electrical signals because they have a control unit that takes care of their readings and regulations. Specific chips are implant in the CU to coordinates and regulates the activities of components which one must not interfere with. Aside these, common things like maf failures which is predominance in all modern vehicle that dares a bit of such level of sophistication cannot be avoided; even Toyota camry from 2004 have serious reoccurrence maf issues, talkless of the 2007 aka “spider “ that made a complete stride in sophistication, but not without recorded mass failure of electrical component ranging from fuel sending units, steering racks, instrument clusters and all manners of sensors, engine issues etc etc etc and they are far costlier to fix than the BENZs ..So any manufacturer who dares to bite such sophistication must encounter these level of failures..you just need to understand it and handle as required –It is even worst with the BMWs whose issues atimes cannot even be diagnosed and if they are eventually addressed, they must have undergone months of nightmare of surgical transplant at very expensive service centres with either partial or totall swapping of almost every component that has any relationship with the case at stake, just to solve a simple problem. I’m not just making these up , but I have witness a lot of them and wondered whether if one should drive BM one should not do any other thing again with money than fixing them.. One of the serious reasons that keeps me very far at par considering a BMW as my ride because I don’t like to spend money on cars, I run them all year round with cheapest possible but effective maintenance cost. If I cannot DIY my car, and run them at almost zero maintenance cost then there’s no need considering it my ride. But BMW guys would always painfully tell you that such spending Is worth it. I have nothing against BMWs I love them as a ride and would have love to own them too but for their often embarrassing electricals and very high maintenance cost. |
To be frank , how many Benz do you see parked to decay in any compound no matter the year of manufacture nor model? but you cant say same with the BMWs etc |
yungboss:Yes any viable car forum is meant to solve issues, that shows that the issues on such cars are understood and can be handled as well(even when such issues arose from owners negligence, careless handling and lack of knowledge) .The more sophisticated they are, the more issues they are bound to get if mishandled.. Indeed the knowledge has to be broadcast to all concerned; unlike some brand whose issues are never known nor could neither be handled by owners neither the manufacturers, hence you see them parked to decay at every compound So which is better? I do drive my BENZs a whole year plus without visiting any mechanic nor spare parts dealer. |
Gee2728:Oh sorry Gee i saw this late. All the same, thank God we've spoken at length already. |
and those yet to own, God will provide
