ultimatewarrior: Hi, I had my AOR May 11th and Biometrics July 25th and no update since then. When I try to use the tracker to check my status I get an error message and their help page implies that my application hasn't begun processing, but i know it's impossible at this stage. I've used my UCI and Application number on my BIL yet I can't access tracker. Do you have any suggestions or a solution to this? Thanks. Unfortunately the tracker itself hasn't been updated by IRCC since mid-June, so it's of no help. Can you atleast get the email? I honestly don't know why agents do this. Is this a way of punishing old clients or what? Please any agent that doesn't allow you have 100% access to your profile when need be(have this in a contract), run. |

bobjob: Thanks for your response but we received a response that she is ineligible when the French score alone was used. However, she is eligible when we added her ielts as the second language. That's why I needed the clarification. Something must be making the profile ineligible. I only ever used my french scores, no English at all. Anyhow, let her enter the pool and work on getting her scores up. Saw her scores above, it's above the minimum, so she should be able to create a profile, either way. |

Kintowi: Please at what point in the PR stage will they request for the kids passport and medical report You'll submit their passport(data page upload) during the document submission stage after ITA. Medicals will come after AOR(when they get your documents), they'll send you a letter to this effect. |

Awesomemama: Please must the post ITA passport be taken at studio 24? Proximity is an issue. Has anyone used a different studio in lagos? Studio 24 is a popular name. Take the IRCC specifications to a good studio, they'll be able to do it. You can measure the dimensions with a ruler on your own to be sure they got it. |

Tundeybaba01: ITS PR!
I am a very silent reader.
Family of 4.
My First IELTS was in 2020, i had a retake in 2022.
PNP nomination Dec 2022 - SASKATCHWAN
ITA DEC 2022.
AOR - Feb, 2022
Long silence, work took to me Mogadishu, Somalia at some point, i guess that was the reason why my security clearance took time.
We had medicals twice.
To the glory of God, 2nd August 2024, i saw a notification of Final decision, but there was no further comment to clarify it.
I put a call thru to IRCC immediately, it was a Naija(Titi) who took the call.
The IRCC agent was so soothing in her words, she tactically told me everything was fine, i should be expecting the Passports submission letter.
Aunty Titi of IRCC call center God bless you for your kind words that night.
The mail came in 4th of August, got every necessary details and moved our passports to Nairobi the following day (No time)
IRCC Nairobi stamped our passports same day VFS delivered to them as if they were waiting for us.
Passports with Visas got back 19th of August.
We are looking for flights now as we want to get in before the full blown winter.
Please if you have accommodation connect in Saskatoon kindly get in touch (this is highly needed now)
Thanks everyone for your update, especially the guide on the use of Nairobi VFS, i got all the details here.
God bless and grant all our desires here.
My brothers, my Sisters, PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP!!! Big congratulations! It's been a while coming for you!! As for the accommodation in Saskatoon, do send a DM. |

Thanks If you have a NCLC 7 and above with TEF/TCF, you'll also be qualified for the french draws, regardless of it being your first or second language. |

bobjob: I am aware of this but my question is if she can used the ielts as a second language to boost her scores since her TEF exceeds the first language requirement. From the screenshot, the minimum score level is stated for second language. I just needed to be sure. Thanks She can use the TEF to set up her profile and enter the pool immediately. Her score may/may not be lower than the last french draw(do check for it). She may get an invite if it's enough, if not she should still enter the pool while preparing to write another English test. |

phabulous88: Update!
Canada is a beautiful country, and Calgary is a particularly clean and lovely city. If you’re coming here as a permanent resident (PR), I highly recommend bringing as much cash as possible. Even if you have family or friends to stay with, you’ll still need money, as things can be quite expensive, especially when you’re new and not yet earning in dollars.
For example, I now find it easier to pay $50 for a haircut because I work here, but in my first few months, I was cutting my own hair.
Here’s my advice for anyone coming to Canada: - Bring plenty of money. - Stay with family or friends, if possible, to help reduce your living expenses initially. - Take advantage of the system’s offerings: as a PR, you’re eligible for benefits like child care benefits if you have children. Use the food banks too, there’s no shame in using the food bank but don’t abuse it. Only take what you need. And once you start working, try to give back by contributing or volunteering.
When looking for an apartment, consider signing a short-term lease (3 or 6 months) and, if possible, find a fully furnished one. Calgary is a large, spread-out city with four quadrants (SW, SE, NE, and NW) made up of various communities. If you find a community that suits you, you can always extend your lease. Furnished apartment because if the community does not work for, you can easily pack your bags and move out when your short-term lease ends. Be sure to take care of your apartment to avoid losing your deposit (hands off the wall!)
Look for apartments near bus stops, schools, and shopping centers. Rentfaster is a very good website. You can start with a basement apartment, but avoid spending too long in a basement apartment due to the limited sunlight. Moving to an apartment with more natural light can improve your mood.
I was fortunate to find a fully furnished 2-bedroom basement apartment with all utilities included for $1,800. After six months, I moved to an apartment closer to schools and bus stops. If I had signed a 12-month lease and the community didn’t work for me, I might have been stuck or had to pay a fee to break my lease.
In Calgary, and generally in Canada, having a car is not a luxury but a necessity. Get your full driver’s license as soon as you can.
While applying for jobs, consider going back to school. As a PR, you’re eligible for grants and loans from federal and provincial governments that cover tuition and living expenses. Look for courses with co-op options, as they can lead to full-time job offers.
Bring all your documents with you. While there’s a Nigerian community in most cities in Canada, and we greet/nod at each other when we meet, everyone is focused on their own hustle, cos the bills can be long, so don’t rely too much on community support. Even if you exchange numbers, don’t expect their calls.
African stores can be cheaper than large grocery stores, especially stuffs like chicken. Some cities also have meat sharing, like 1/8 (around $250) or 1/16 (around $130) of a cow. This can be cheaper and can last you months.
Daycare is expensive, but there are grants and subsidies available. The government is working to reduce daycare costs to $10 per day, and they’re making progress.
Finding a job isn’t easy, and you can get one from anywhere. When I arrived in December, I had several interviews, but the lack of Canadian experience was an issue. I had different resumes for different jobs (professional and survival jobs). Several low paying jobs, including a shawarma shop rejected me. You’ll begin to question myself. Thanks be to God, I eventually started a job in my field (as a Project Manager) exactly 3 months after I landed. And believe me, I don’t remember applying for job I interviewed for and eventually got. Explore job opportunities on Indeed and LinkedIn. God arranged this one for me.
It’s been 8 months since we landed Calgary and it’s been a worthwhile experience so far. God has been blessing us and coming through for us in ways we never imagined. Baba God, I’m sincerely grateful and thankful for all your blessings. Amen.
And most importantly, pray, pray and pray. I cannot overemphasize the importance of prayer. All the best to everyone applying, and I pray you get your PPRs soon. Amen. It's great to hear that the land has opened up to you, even with the challenges. These are very important points. Thanks for coming back to give an update. |

Farawayman: Fellow Nairalanders, I just want to clarify, Is it compulsory to affix passport photo on the Medical form?
What is your opinion on using Q-Life, it's closer to me.
Modified No need for a photo on the medical form. You'll take one at the clinic. I'd say IOM, as they upload the results quicker. I believe they are more expensive though, so keep that in mind. |

I have actually called ircc to ask but the queue was too long and i have mailed them no response. Since wassce eca reports as canadian certificate. I feel one can use it to claim “2 degree or more”
If people can look into it, it will really help Doubt WAEC can be used. It's secondary school level and not "higher education". |

Will I be able to create a new profile to apply with if I attach my passport to this one Yeah you can delete a previous profile. Keep in mind that yes, IRCC likely retains old information, so do with that what you will. But why are you testing the waters to getting an ITA? If you do get one, why not go ahead and submit your application? |

Will IRCC retain my data. Trying to avoid issues especially since it's asking for my passport number You can use a new passport when you want to submit your application after ITA... As long as it's yours. People's passports expire, get missing or stolen etc. |

DTruth10: I believe every situation is unique let me share my unique experience in the hopes that I get feedback and insight from the gurus in the house.
I am a HND holder who went to Canada in 2016 to pursue a degree in politics. The degree took longer because I had a situation called a status restoration that took almost 2 years off. I eventually had the issue restored and did 3 years worth of studies before deciding to make a program switch to psychology, I decided also to take a break from school to properly consider my options.
Around this time I received information from my student advisor about an opportunity that would allow me to transition to a work permit. I decided to take the offer but it would require me to switch to visitor status before applying for the work permit. Unfortunately the visitor visa application was approved but the work permit app was refused.
Around this time too, my passport was about to expire (I held off renewing because I was waiting for the apps). Mind you, I was fully supporting myself since I could not work. I was unable to renew the passport at the high commission in Ottawa because they were experiencing processing issues. My passport expired and IRCC recommended returning back to Nigeria and since I had a family emergency too at that time I accepted.
I was returned to Nigeria subsequently after 7 1/2 years in canada and I came back with 4 years worth of work experience (by my estimation) and 3 years of studies in a Canadian university. I tried the CRS calculator and it registered 538
Please what are my chances applying for PR. Please drop any feedback and suggestions Enter the express entry pool immediately if you haven't done so. This is a good score. The last general score was 529. You are also eligible for CEC, last score was 510 I believe. |

rasputinn: I have written her to send me my login details and the refusal letter. So if she is not cooperative and I need to threaten her as you said, how can I do that ? What will I use to threaten her without running foul of the law ? Hopefully she sends it to you. Most of them do not. Since you've asked already, hold off on the threats. Include a little pleading here and there. I say so because it's unknown if she's an IRCC certified consultant. If she's a lone agent, no one can make her give them to you legally, especially as you say she isn't in the country. Also, if you signed a contract, it might be written there in fine print as part of their company policy. At the very least, they should allow you obtain GCMS notes to ascertain the cause of the refusal. Do ask for this also, because without some of your details, you can't get the notes or a refund. ETA: scrolled to the initial posts where you says she's a licensed immigration consultant. She can be reported under certain circumstances. Check the link below to see how to do this, if all other avenues of getting your details fail. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigration-citizenship-representative/file-complaint-against-representative.html |
