Some gullible folks were insulting me over here few weeks ago about this same issue, I had reported that immigration system will change, the priority will now be domestic draws. I’m currently in Canada and I ask few questions on this thread because it was beneficial to me during my relocation process, I have a kid sister currently schooling in one of the colleges, I wanted her to use to healthcare path way to secure pr, they thought I was been negative, whereas I was just been real, the liberal party lost a bye election recently due to high immigration, Canadians are furious with the current government, with the protest that happened yesterday and with all the complaints they might just bow to the pressure. Change in current immigration policy and reforms coming soon you all should be expectant. Look into provinces that can nominate you, rather than waiting and hoping for general and category draw, be strategic.
You're not wrong... Major changes are coming.
Marc Miller has told provinces to look into more local draws.
The amount of temporary workers and students is staggering, even if they stop all outland draws(doubt it), the amount of PRs for 2024 will still not cut it. It's simply a number's game. What will happen when the PGWP of current students expire?
One just has to keep hope alive while being strategic.

Trudeau's party and their virtue signalling, can't believe the dude and his cohorts have run Canada this down in a couple of years. Well political incompetence is not just an Africa problem.

hmmmm..... omoh!... abeg make i enter first before them close door.... this is not funny o....so ontario or Alberta will not give pnp again to people outside?
The same way you're thinking "make I enter before them lock door", hundreds of thousands are thinking the same.
PNPs are so competitive now... And most provinces have scaled down or stopped certain pathways
The liberal party will bow to pressure and reduce immigration levels as they're being cooked right now.

Na to find how best to position oneself. Canada will not outrightly stop immigration but a reduction (which must be supported) might happen. Automatically a lot of people will not make it.
So take those courses, learn that language, keep working, apply for jobs etc no time to check time o.

not worth it in my opinion. i got 8.5 in L, even if i remark and get 9 the point doesnt change as 8.5-9 is same thing in the pool, i got 8 in reading, even if i remark to 9 its same thing in pool, got 8 speaking, even if i remark to 9 its same thing in the pool, i got 7 in W, and if i remark and get 7.5 it adds just 2 mark to my crs score, even if i remark and get 9 it adds same 2 mark to my crs score as 7.5-9 is same thing in the pool, i cant pay 120 pounds for just 2 marks.
however, i understand your point. thanks a bunch. i might change from stem to healthcare as 475 exceeds all the previous healthcare score. still weighting my options.
Ok I understand... If you have at least 6 months verifiable experience in the past 3 years in healthcare, by all means go ahead. There are way more stem NOCs in the pool compared to healthcare.

Pls, I need serious help on POF, how do I start to gather it. Also, how do I avoid lump sum.
This part of this journey is what is giving me sleepless night. I just need someone with vast knowledge of this topic of Proof of Fund to please educate step by step. Currently in my account, I don't have much there.
Thanking the person that will help me with the process in advance
Ah you need money o, no way to circumvent this.
Preventing lump sums is one thing, but for any money in your account, you'll need to provide explanation.
You can have a family member send you the money as a gift (this isn't official by any means), do a gift deed, submit your bank reference and statement.
What's important is that you satisfy all IRCC requirements concerning Proof of Funds.
Have you gotten ITA?

Crazy how just a few years back this score was perfect. Unfortunately it means nothing in the face of general draws now, maybe not even STEM draws.
If you can remark your writing and speaking, please do so.

Reading through comments on this topic gives me a clearer picture on why many of our people struggle when they get to canada while a few flourish and flourish. Nigerians can be very lawless and don't like to follow due process. Agents are popular because people are looking for a short cut. Agents will continue to prey on them.

Why would you even need an agent? Sorry, but that was a bad decision. This particular application is the easiest to do without an agent. Furthermore, there is no way an agent can have your best interest at heart. Only you can have your own best interest at heart. An agent will only do what is convenient for him/her, as long as it keeps the money flowing. And if the agent is Nigerian, then it is even worse.
Look through this thread, there are many people who failed using agents and who then had to circle back and do it by themselves.
The harm these agents cause... Imagine over a year... And it's visit visa.
These are only the ones we've heard o.
My people learn to love reading, read and research. The only reason you should be using agents are if they're immigration consultants or you lead a busy lifestyle and it's a trustworthy person whom you'll follow bumper to fender and will give you unencumbered access to your account.
Most of these people are heartless and are only after their own profit.

Was talking with a friend, telling him express entry and he was just shouting hard, hard... saw him with one agent in the area, and when I told him(the agent) I'd done my application myself and permanent residency for that matter, he stopped me from participating in the conversation. Only heaven knows the lies he has sold to my friend.

My people, research and be patient! We want fast fast, let me be in Canada after this Sunday's service. It doesn't work that way.
Just watch that agent will tell you guys their usual, that you can convert visitor visa to work permit when you land.

This is where I find myself. Any one with tips on how we can scale this?
You just have to keep on listening...
YouTube, RFI podcasts, Inner French, Français Authentique etc...
Make sure whatever your listening to, you understand at least 80% at any level. The remaining 20% is what'll build your understanding. Those are the words you look up their definitions and use the 80% you know to form context for those words.
Also repeat, repeat, repeat. I enjoyed RFI and Inner French for this. Choose a short audio, with/without transcriptions(I prefer the former) and listen over and over, passively and then actively, you can do some shadowing if you like, until you understand every portion of the audio.
For additional difficulty you can increase the speed of the audio to native level.
Remember listening forms the basis of knowing any language and is crucial for the other aspects. You'll have to put ample time in.
Bonne chance !

They will focus more on Cec draw henceforth. They want the inland applicant to get permanent residency.
Sure but there's no talk of stopping the category based draws... Reducing the draws and their numbers respectively, yes... Stopping them, no.
Until the government explicitly says so, it's all hearsay.

It's PPPRRRRR

ITA: Feb 14 healthcare draw
AOR: March 13
BIL/MIL: April 17
Gave Biometrics: April 19
Medical passed: April 24
No update until today
FD and Passport request: June 6.

We tried in the year 2019/2020 sitting in the pool with 466 crs. Couldn't get ITA and COVID also damaged things. By the time IRCC started draws after COVID, we had lost significant points due to age. IELTS also expired. We sha packed our bags and enter UK early 2021.

Then IRCC introduced category based draws. Second chance at Canada leyi ooo. So we started again. Had to write ielts 3 times unfortunately. Each time, I am 0.5 short in either listening or writing. I wrote the final one on February 10 2024. Got my CBT results on February 13 with LRWS 9,8,7,7.5. I updated my profile immediately and my score jumped to 440 from 384. The next day, February 14, IRCC did healthcare draw and boom our ITA.

Hang in there everyone. Yours on the way.
Congratulations!!!
Hope to celebrate soon.
These category based draws have so many renewed hope.

Hii guys I booked my celpip test for 31st May,2024;Friday.However I got there as early as before 6am because I was coming from Ghana but when I got there I was so exhausted so I decided to rest a bit at the hotel that shares the same compound as Katia gardens. And when it was 8:03am (on my phone) I headed to the Katia gardens to write my test.I got there at 8:06am (Ghana time) only to be informed that it was 9:06am and that the exams had already started and that nothing could be done about it.It didn’t occur to me that Nigeria leads Ghana by 1 hour in time.I was refused entry to write the exams,I have been crying since & I haven’t recovered still.Atp I don’t know what to do.
I started studying for the exams since March and I prepared so much. Now I don’t know what to do because I invested so much into coming and paying for the exams plus my hotel,Food & others.
I already sent Celpip a mail but they said they can’t do anything about it.
Please help me ….what do I do now ?
Oh I'm so so sorry. It wasn't your fault, you didn't intend to miss the exams. Yet to be honest it isn't CELPIP's fault either.
Is there a way to escalate to management?
If there's truly nothing they can do then, you'll have to find a way. It will be challenging but you can do it.
Explain your predicament with evidence of your arrival and plead with them to help you book a close date if possible. I know CELPIP has a long wait time.
I wish you all the best and Godspeed.

Hi everyone!

My name is etrange. I created this thread about 6 years ago, and I’m just here today to encourage everyone to keep on going, even when the going gets tough. Though learning a new language is a lifelong process, getting to a point where you are able to ace the TEF exam is very much attainable within reasonable period of time if the right amount of effort is dedicated to it. Getting permanent residency in any western country is more difficult now than ever, yet you guys that know French have the best shot at it at the moment. As a Canadian citizen myself, I can tell you that it’s worth the hard work. Yes, things are hard in the country right now. Our real estate is probably the most expensive in the world, and jobs aren’t as readily available as they used to be. But it’s still better than Nigeria. Our passport, which has the same power index as that of the US, comfortably occupies the 7th position at the global stage.

Years ago, people believed learning French language was a waste of time. French language teachers weren’t taken seriously back then. I still remember how some of my friends sarcastically asked me where I intended to work with my “common talevu”. Today, I am pleased that this subject we are all passionate about is finally getting the attention it deserves. I am personally delighted that something I learned as a hobby ended up becoming a life changer for me, and I always look forward to hearing the stories of immigrants who made to this country on the back of their French language skills.

A big thank you to everyone that has kept this thread alive, the teachers and the students alike. It’s not easy, but hang in there. There’s light at the end of this tunnel, the type that’s not constantly interrupted by NEPA.

Ciao !
The Man, the not-so-myth, the legend!
Thank you for the step taken to start this thread, it might have seemed blasé to do so at the time, but whether you are aware or not, this thread has been a blessing to many.

This is why I never take any girl seriously based on what they post on social media or even what they say or portrait about their relationships. All these mumu feminist wannabe be on nairaland, if you know what some of them are going through, you'll pity their unimaginable conditions.

Guys!! .. I finally received my stamped passport with COPR letter this week! It's been a journey of patience and hope.

Story:
I initially planned to start the process in 2020, even took the CIIN exam for additional degree, but one thing led to another and I moved to Dubai instead.

I got married to my wife in January 2023 but couldn't bring her over cause of the Dubai ban on Nigerians hence we decided to attempt the express entry program again with me being the main applicant.

Timeline:

IELTS July 2023
WES evaluation August 2023
Entered pool August 2023 with CRS score 488

Got invited and accepted Alberta PNP September 2023 (sibling lives there)

ITA - October 2023
AOR - November 16 2023 (used sale of land and salary account as POF, Upfront medicals)

Biometrics - January 16 2024

ADR - April 3 2024.. Payslips for a year, Educational diplomas, IMM 5669 Schedule A, RPRF payment receipt

PPR - May 2

I submitted my passport to Abudhabi VFS and got it back within 2 weeks. My wife submitted in Lagos, it's still at Accra OC, hoping to get it back soon.

Thank you all for the support and to everyone still hoping and trying, no give up oooo!!!!

Bonjour a tous,
I know it’s been a while I was here and I’m sorry to those I didn’t get to reply on here. It has been a ride gathering documents and all.

I just wanted to let everyone know that my process is now complete thanks to TEF. My story is somewhere in the thread so I won’t go back but I will say that this is one year after I joined here and as of yesterday, I became a permanent resident of Canada. I came to encourage anyone who’s looking at the road ahead as ‘looong’. One day at a time and it will all make sense (the frustrations, the pain, the financial strain…) I sometimes wonder to myself that if I gave up a year ago, I’d still be where I was a year ago. I know the French category scores are going up but compared to the general draws?

It is worth the wait. I submitted my EE application February 3rd and did my landing yesterday. Now, I qualify for free 1 year french courses and can apply for jobs as ‘bilingual’. So whether TEF or TCF, keep learning and please don’t give up. The benefits are huge. God bless everyone here. For the times I needed help, you guys came through. I wish you all success and speedy ppr ahead. Thank you to all the OGs that keep this platform alive. May you always find help when needed. Have a blessed night all.

Shalom.
The stories we love to read!
May the Great White North be good to you...

Hello Good day. Please I am new on here and I’m still trying to figure how this website works.
Firstly, I’d like to enter the Express entry pool, I have a university degree in Agriculture, and I have a year experience in the Agriculture field.
I tried doing a rough calculation on my CRS points and it’s not up to 400.
My questions are.

1. Should I still join the pool regardless?
2. For my WES evaluation, should I evaluate my result under ECA application for IRCC or ECA application for Agri-food pilot.
I’d be glad if anyone can provide guidance and answers to my questions
This agriculture experience will come o handy for Category Based Draws...
Please scroll down to check if your job roles fall within any of these three NOCs.
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/submit-profile/rounds-invitations/category-based-selection.html

You'll also need a language test along with your WES ECA to enable you enter the pool.
If you already have one , then dive into the pool, there might be an agric draw soon.

2.ECA for IRCC.
