Wow. You guys came in with the receipts... Up to his passport number.
Nigerians(Africans at large), please, PLEASE and please again, READ! Read!! I don't why we hate it. I know the process can look overwhelming and farfetched but desperation and false hope does no one any good. Any person promising that which he hasn't even tried to fulfill for himself and his loved ones is a liar and a thief.
It hurts that there is so much free information here on Nairaland and other platforms and yet see so many fall prey to desperation, lack of information and plain wickedness...
Hope y'all get justice and your monies back. |

mikky099: Hello Guys,
Is TCF Tout Public also accepted by IRCC. My consultant advised me to write it as there is no more space for TCF Canada this year. Any Gurus in the house please let me know.
Many thanks Do be careful with any application going through a consultant or agent, follow them CLOSELY, the stories abound of applications that have been jeopardized due to their carelessness and mishandlings. Sometimes, I find they know just as much or even less, if we could just dedicate a few hours and some discomfort to making research. For Express Entry, it's strictly TEF and TCF Canada that's accepted, no other, the application will be rejected otherwise. TCF tout public and TCFQ can go for Arrima(QUÉBEC) although I'm seeing conflicting info. |

Meticu99: If you're the physical class kinda person, you can as well register with Mafit Study Center. Their registration fees is cheaper than British Council and IDP and they give free physical classes for a month. Did my speaking test in their office and I must confess, it was worth it. Thank you very much. I'll check them out. |

79733139: For the writing, I used these Youtube channels: IELTS Advantage, Fast Track IELTS and Lilie IELTS. For the speaking, I regularly watched band 9 speaking videos and mumbled what I would say if asked the same questions. For the listening and reading, I used Cambridge English IELTS books (I practiced both academic and general). Thank you very much! Haven't heard of those channels before. I'll definitely check them out. |

PurpleHibiscus7: Hello house,
I am back with my testimony. After three attempts of being stuck at band 6 in EE and changing structures, I have finally shattered the nclc 7 ceiling at my fourth attempt! CE B2 CO C1 EE B2 EO B2. Just for someone here, please don't give up and always believe you can improve. I threw in the towel many times and picked it back up because... 50 points makes a world of difference. Thank you to everyone who encouraged me here. So, what I did for this last attempt: 1. Registered for a McGill online TEF writing course structured by a former TEF examiner (this demystified the entire EE for me) 2. Kept my former Cameroonian tutor. She's very patient; she will deal with your grammar warmly, making you want to learn. I can drop her contact if anyone is interested. She followed me through all my ups and downs and never let me go. 3. Attempted Madame Bizang, but after a few classes, I realized that her attitude was not tailored for me. I did all my homework and attended classes early, but she'd talk down on every piece of classwork I produced, saying my grammar was pretty much zero without offering any solid solution. She once told me I couldn't get the desired score in her opinion, and I started losing confidence in both my written and oral French. So, I quietly quit. 4. I listened to 8 milliard de Voisin on RFI daily. Anytime I heard a new word, I'd stop, check the meaning and how to use it, and then use it in conversation with my tutor. I also watched French movies on Netflix. 5. Prepmyfuture is a powerhouse. I cannot overemphasize the content there. Please NOTE: they have now updated their content to suit the new format of the TEF starting from Dec 11, 2023. 6. Joined a Cameroonian TEF prep WhatsApp group called Dr. Manfred C2. I used it to study how the native French write and just followed their convos. 5. I praised God ahead of test day. I almost missed my test due to unforeseen traffic, but we thank God. If you've followed my story, you'd know I have been through the fire... but other testimonies encouraged me, so I'm encouraging someone else; it is worth every sleepless night, frustrated days, tears, mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion. In total, I got an extra 62 points from TEF.
Apologies for the long write-up; I promised to come back with my praise report, and here it is. Have a blessed evening, everyone! The cold bottles of "whatever drink you consume" this testimony deserves eh. I can only imagine how happy you feel. The hardwork(mental and physical) has finally paid off! Hahaha@ quietly quit, I do understand. It's hard to thrive in such an environment. 62 points as a product of tenacity, discipline and motivation...Big congratulations purplehisbiscus7! ITA up next!! Edit: please do drop your tutor's contact details, I know someone who needs a good tutor. |

Enculer2: Replieed you.
This thread is supposed to be aimed at TEF Canada students. I feel it is extremely dry. Are people studying on their own? Do they know what to study? Where are the discussions on exam questions, exam tips, questions asked recently? I understand that people get banned when they type in French but surely people should be exchanging more on here.
It should not just be about French schools and French teachers. That's 60% of what I see on here. The TEF Canada Facebook page is a good one but this page should provide a good supplement to that one.
A candidate can take action to produce a document containing a bank of all TEF questions and answers for instance. This info can be shared with candidates intending to write their exam soon.
There are loads of potentials for the thread. Sadly untapped. True... Really wish we could type in french, at least just on this thread. Perhaps french is so time-consuming, it's hard to revert back here. Really enjoyed the thread with the OGs. Life has happened I guess. I take my exam soon so I know moi, I am swamped. That said this thread is an absolute gold mine. I can't recommend it enough. |

Lagos is a shithole and the world are beginning to show their total dislike for Lagos on a daily. So you confirm that Igbos come here to "dirty up" and pollute Lagos, make money and then run to the east to spend it at yuletide... That's what you mean, yes? |

franchasofficia: Adding to the great advice you have given, if you are a single young man reading this, please don't marry anyhow!!
Marry with wisdom. The time to marry just because of konji and to have a cooking and cleaning partner alone has gone oh.
Marry a help mate. Stop calling ladies above 30yrs evening newspapers, in fact they are the real wife materials in Nigeria of today because most Nigerian ladies start to become valuable and have sense from 30yrs. Forget about fertility, if village people hands aren't in your matter, your wife can still give birth at 35 to 43 without complications.
If you are broke or struggling financially, please never you marry a broke lady or a jobless lady with no valuable skill or career to assist you.
Forget drug trafficking news you read always that involves Igbo guys trafficking drugs, its just an insignificant number of unscrupulous Igbo men that indulge in that crime. The number one reason Igbos have the highest number of financially comfortable young men in Nigeria is simply because Igbos usually embrace entrepreneurship development from young age, which gives them an edge in whatever they do in life. Your Igbo Doctor colleague owns a small business somewhere, your Igbo Professor friend probably owns some of the grocery shops you buy things from. Your Igbo Nurse colleague probably owns a small medicine shop in one street corner. Your Igbo Pilot friend or colleague owns a small mechanic workshop somewhere. It is like a culture in Igbo land but people always misinterpret it as being money conscious or being a ritualist.
You can hardly find a true Igbo man living abroad that depend solely on his salary job. He leverages on his entrepreneurship skill and living abroad to establish a thriving business back home or in one African country while you go about gossiping about him peddling drugs or being a money ritualist.
As a financially struggling young man from a poor family background, please marry wisely, you mustn't marry the finest girl in your village to be happy, go for a lady that have the qualities to help you grow bigger and achieve a secured financial future for you and your unborn kids Thank you! |

Emmaomotob: What do you mean by especially men? Some people just disgust me. It is not my duty to provide for a woman or to have a family. I believe men can live at least a bearable life without women. Women only bring need, worry and poverty to a man. Blessed is he that needs no woman, for only him alone can enjoy this life. But that is easier said than achieved. It pains me that the only thing I need a woman for is sex, yet it is a force that cannot be easily controlled. I have never liked them. I do not wish to hate them, I just don't want to desire them. I wish I could kill my sexual urge and see women for who they are, as burden and thieves. I only speak of relationships, not as fellow citizens, I have no problem with them. They are the shortcut to poverty and only exist to waste a man's life. The only advise I have for men is to avoid intimate relationship with them as much as possible. To have a woman is to pay off a loan on money you have not borrowed. That 30000 naira phone you bought for her that her artificial head does not appreciate is not her right, use it to improve yourself. I know your hormones are high, but deign to see her for what she is - a useless, burdensome liability. Yikes! |

PurpleHibiscus7: Thank you. It is a very tough period for me. This is my second TEF and I’ve barely had a life since January. Aced IELTS in January, started studying for TEF and took the first in April. ‘Re-fired’ for this one in July. It’s a very expensive and stressful journey. I have two kids and have had to study all night for months. So you can understand why I at least won’t go down without a fight. Plus, asides that I didn’t finish, I am very confident that what I wrote was at least a band 7. I covered everything. I was adding a sentence to a paragraph when I got cut off. It is well though. Thank you for the response. I appreciate it. I have sent an email to the center explaining my case. I await feedback. You mean you started learning for TEF in January?! You got this!! I understand you completely. I hope you're able to get a favorable review... Hang in there... |

Enculer2: You have a good point.
Some people seem to think that TCF is easier. I have a very good level of French and I live in the country, work in the language and have seen people take both exams. Many people on the French TEF Facebook group feel the same.
I have written both exams in the past (general versions) but not for immigration purposes but rather to test my knowledge of French. I had a C2 in expression orale back then in both exams. I scored lower than C2 in the comprehension bits though.
In the end, it is about passing and passing well. There are fine margins.
If I had a candidate with B1 level of French I would advise them to go for TEF Canada rather than TCF given the TEF resources available.
The truth is without past questions, TEF texts would appear tougher than the TCF ones, considering the time.
Candidates can go for whichever one they feel would give them points.
I am interested in seeing scores. Let candidates post their TCF and TEF scores and let us see what the performance is like. This nairaland bot is forever out for blood Wrote an entire thesis in response, it ended up in a ban... I'll just say for the last point, there are results on this thread, in fact in the past year, I've seen more TCF results on here than TEF. It might be a skewed perception though. As for TCF materials, there are way more materials now, just have to know where to look. |

Enculer2: My personal advice to those thinking TCF or TEF, please go for TEF.
The questions are repeated for TEF unless they have changed things since I wrote in 2019.
This helped me make C2 in both comprehesion orale and ecrite. It also helped me smash my French Nat exam. Some questions from TEF Canada were repeated in the TEF Frech Nat exam.
I coached my wife for the French Nat Exam in 1 week and she made B2 in comp ecrite. He French was not good. Past questions helped.
You can also crack the expression ecrite. The expression orale is as the discretion of the examiner. If you have a "tête de bite" as an examiner, they will screw you.
In all go for TEF Canada. If you are a serious student, you will smash. If I could teach my wife to smash in 1 week imagine if you have been studying for months.
All the best.
One piece of advice, stop saying "bon courage". It is a negative word but people do not realise cause they follow others like sheep. You can say "bon chance", or better still, wish the person success. "Bon courage" sounds like the person is going to hell and you are telling him/her to hold forth whilst there, like saying "stay strong in hell". Wish them success rather. Funny how I'd advice the exact opposite and say take TCF instead. I haven't written yet though, so I have no grounds to base anything on.lol |
