A tweet from one of the most reliable news blogs, Nigeria Newsdesk, says Peter Obi has resigned his position as the chairman of APGA BOT.

Source: @nigerianewsdesk

By Vincent Ujumadu, Awka
The former governor of Anambra State, Mr. peter obi has tendered his resignation letter as leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, apga, and the chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, BoT.

In a letter addressed to the National Secretary of the party and submitted in the party’s Abuja office yesterday, obi said he was resigning as leader and BoT chairman into which he was appointed in January

According to him, the appointment was yet to be ratified by a Convention of the party as stipulated by the constitution several months after it was made.

obi also cited family and personal reasons, but did not give details.

He however wished the party well in her future endeavours, reiterating the fact that he remains an ordinary apga member.

The former Governor was recently denied appointment as a minister by President Goodluck Jonathan because he allegedly refused to defect from apga to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

obi’s media aide, Mr. Valentine Obienyem confirmed the development yesterday.

His words: “ If you recall, my boss was nominated the leader of the party and the chairman, Board of Trustees in January.

“The nomination was yet to be ratified by a Convention of the party at the time he submitted his letter of resignation.

“Since the convention will take place next year, people have found it convenient to blame him for the woes of the party, saying that he had failed to intervene on matters affecting the party, not knowing that without ratification of his nomination, he had no platform under which to intervene. Obienyem said that his boss remained an apga member, and would continue to support the party at all times.

Only recently, four members of the party in the House of Representatives resigned their membership and declared for the PDP.

PoliticsRe: Shame To CNN! by Aussie(m): 5:18pm On Aug 06, 2014
StPete: Nigeria has consistently featured on CNN like there's some personal beef even though I'm fully aware of some of the happenings going on here. But for the record, are news items not supposed to be proof-read before they hit viewers?
'Like there is personal beef' that means there is non. But can we really substantiate the claim of this so-called beef? CNN has been existing for more than three decades and still waxing; channels like TVC and Channels look up to them. They however beam their news on areas where there are trending news and they consistently feature such news and country. Examples are Nigeria's Chibok kidnappings, ISIS take over of Northern Irag, Libya's insurgency and recently Iran and Iranian's rebel tussel.
PoliticsRe: Shame To CNN! by Aussie(m): 5:05pm On Aug 06, 2014
CNN has always shown Nigeria's geo-location on maps and that means this is evidently a technical error. Most of you who are familiar with maps will agree that spot is Niger and you know the similarities in terms of spelling.

I have seen several spelling error on CNN in the past. No system is 100% perfect.

PoliticsRe: Murderous And Mindless Buhari/APC Has Reached A New All Time Low !!! by Aussie(m): 9:14am On Jul 25, 2014
Buhari does not have any admiration in the eyes of the Biafrians, so I am not surprised at their comments after the unfortunate incident. Even if he had died yesterday, they will say it was due to the political power tussle btw Modu Sherriff and Buhari that divided Boko Haram hence the reason Modu's faction of Boko Haram wants to eliminate Buhari.

Anybody can just sit and write any script. My prayer is God give us the correct sets of leaders next election, far better than the current corrupt and mindless sets of rogues who call themselves leaders.

LiteratureRe: Chimamanda Adichie's New Hair Style: Like Or Dislike? by Aussie(m): 5:26am On Jan 08, 2014
Hmmmm, taken time to read through all the comments and concluded majority in this forum are either not appreciative of being Africans or were born in the 80s and 90s and therefore do not know what used to be in vogue then that the Whites even wish to have our own type of hair texture.
This is the trade-mark hairstyle of a Nigerian artiste who featured in a British drama series and aired on the BBC in the 70s. If the British disapproved of her outlook, which of course the hair style was an integral part, she would,t be invited to feature in a British drama series. She is in her 80s now or thereabouts. She starred with OLU JACOBs and her name is madam Taiwo Ajayi Lycet. No one has mentioned her here which makes me wonder if we really read Nigerian history or Luterature. Guys, study and know about African and Africans.

I foresee GEJ using the National Dialogue to distract and douse the already heated polity. The 2015 elections may not hold afterall, this way, GEJ will hit back at the opposition. The National Dialogue is a guise as GEJ knows he can,t win any election in Nigeria again.
Watch out for intriguing outcome of the National Dialogue.
PoliticsRe: Happy Birthday To General Muhammadu Buhari by Aussie(m): 9:11pm On Dec 17, 2013
Why do people associate Buhari with Boko Haram? So there are kids and fools in this forum who do not know how Boko Haram came about? If it is about his so called utterances, how will they now classify utterances of SSA to GEJ on Political Matters, Gulak, SSA on Public Affairs, Okupe, SSA on Media, Abatti. Minister of State, Education, Wike, beneficiary of juicy contracts, Asari Dokubo, and the lots. Are you guys aware appointment into boards of MDAs is now strictly for PDP card carrying members, how do you now expect results? Appointments are now being used as compensations instead of appointing proven hands.
This administration has done more havoc than good, to least! I have not seen any improvement in the life of the down-trodden neither have we seen the effect of partial removal of subsidy since two years ago.
For me, the good ones are very few and the bad guys who are numerous are ready to use billions of naira to fight and prevent the few good ones to get to the saddle of leadership as that will translate to a total collapse of their empire and they shall atone for their sins against the masses and God.
God bless Muhammadu Buhari!

PoliticsNgige Of APC Goes To Anambra Election Tribunal by Aussie(op): 5:29pm On Dec 03, 2013
Anambra State Governorship candidate, Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has carried out his threat to challenge the election of Willie Obiano as the new governor of the state.

A source reported that Ngige filed a suit yesterday, at the Anambra State Election Petiton Tribunal.

It was further disclosed that the suit was lodged by Ngige’s younger brother, Emeka Ngige, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

According to reports:

“The suit includes a motion exparte for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow him to inspect materials used for the governorship election,” the source said.

Ngige, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), came third in the election the result of which was announced on Sunday morning. He scored 95,953 votes as against 180,178 votes by Obiano and 97,700 votes by second-placed Comrade Tony Nwoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Obiano extended a hand of fellowship to Ngige and other defeated candidates in his victory speech and while receiving the Certificate of Return from INEC yesterday in Awka, the state capital.

Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on Monday donated two million naira to a widow he allegedly insulted while on an inspection tour of the state.

The widow, Mrs Joy Ifije, who was invited to the Edo Government House by the governor, was also offered automatic employment by Oshiomhole.

Oshiomhole had invited the widow to personally apologise to her over his uncomplimentary remark that had generated controversies in the conventional and social media in the last few weeks.

‘’ Let me apologise to you for the way I spoke to you, I am very sorry about the statement.

“I have also realised that even in anger, one could still achieve the same result that he set out to without provocative outburst.

‘’ I apologise from the bottom of my heart, but sometimes you get angry when people compromise your efforts.’’

He said that government was trying to change the face of the state capital by doing its best to make the city beautiful.

The governor said that it was frustrating and bad for some people to truncate government efforts.

He stressed that trading on the road and walk ways could hinder free flow of traffic as well as cause accidents.

Oshiomhole, therefore, appeal to the widow to join in the campaign against road and walkways trading.

The governor said that exposing consumables to unhygienic sanitary conditions could also cause ”disease and pose dangerous health hazards to humans”.

Oshiomhole, who also announced the automatic employment to the widow, said that the employment would help her ease the burden of widowhood and give her children good and proper education.

He further assured the widow that his family would assist the widow’s second child in furthering his education, while also appealing to her to resist the temptation of law breaking.

The widow had earlier apologized to the governor for her action, saying ‘’ I know I was wrong, that was why I quickly knelt down to beg when I realized I was face to face with the Governor’’.

She promised to work with the state government in its campaign against street trading and obstruction.

She also promised to make judicious use of the money donated to her by the governor.

adetayoonas: This post is a lie. Rumor of the highest order. @moderator: pls remove this post. The poster needs to be sanctioned for telling lies.
It baffles me that some people here are so brainwashed to believe anything as long as it is to dent the image of Ngige or APC. Assuming this was true, no person will come out to tell anyone that he borrowed to finance and election and now confused about how to repay.
The truth remains majority of Igbos voted for APGA on ethnicity basis though they agree Ngige is the best but for the "islamic and boko aram" part he belong to, according to them.
It is your state and you decide who governs you. Wish u luck.

There is no hope for the current crop of generations in this country. Nigeria seems to be doomed!
We are simply not sincere with ourselves. We practice politics of religion and ethnicity and until majority of us change, there is no hope. It will take at least a century to clear the mess we find ourselves today.
We don,t love our so called Nigeria, but strongly in love with our religion and ethnic, which unfortunately is the bane behind our under development and backwardness.
Until we affirm and decide to exude the lyrics of our national anthem and Pledge, hich I doubt will happen anytime soon, we shall continue to have backslid as a country without any defined course to chart.

From all indications, Anambra people have decided not to vote on merit but to vote based on tribe and religion. So be it for you guys. If only you guys give a good reason why u want to vote apga and not apc, it wuld have been okay. But u call apga ibo party and ojukwu legacy while you call apc yoruba and islamic party.
