Good day, my car does hard starting every morning, takes about 3-4times before it starts and starts normally all through the day. What's the likely cause of the hard start? Car is an 05 corolla

Failing fuel pump
Weak battery
Faulty coolant temperature sensor/switch
And a host of other things.

Kindly do a scan of the ECU. If we could get pointers of possible electrical faults. Then we can move on from there.

Any advice?

Some ppl offered advice but u kept countering them. Replacing parts with new parts don't guarantee solution. You meed to find the culprit.
1. As suggested, a clogged fuel filter amd pump can make the engine run lean thereby causing that.
2. A dirty throttle body also cam cause vibration while the brake is active.
3. Dirty injectors can cause the vibration e.g misfire which new plugs might fix only for a while.


Do not rule anything out. Get the car diagnosed right. Stop throwing parts.

I have bought 2 tokunboh oil cooler still problem persists. I just flushed the radiator system yet oil still appearing. My mechanic insists the problem is not from bad top gasket (his evidence is that oil in dipstick appears normal and engine idling is normal).
I will try to order a brand new oil cooler from Lagos.

1. Sir... There was no mention of world class equipment. A cooling system test kit is just a tool box with adapters for applying pressure on the cooling system.
2. I'm sorry i cant help with that.
3. The advice was to flush before after the first fix. Residual mixture of water/coolant and oil in your engine is bad.

If it was fixed after replacement the last time, there is a high possibility the replacement oil cooler has failed too.

1. Find a competent technician with a cooling system test kit. Pressurise the system and see if it holds pressure or not. Your head gasket might be blown allowing oil to mix with coolant.
2. The oil cooler you got is used/tokunbo and most likely faulty again. Those parts are known to fail quite frequently. You might need to get a brand new one to save yourself the stress.
3. Dis you flush the system properly the last time?
