pejuakinab: I had similar experience with my SUV, various rewires worked on it but yet couldn't get where the battery drain was coming from, I went online to do more research and I was challenged by one report that says only the car owner can identify the fault at this frustrating period. I went to my car in the night where there was no light, I monitored the inside from the outside to see it I will see any light that may be on, low and behold, I saw the driver's side power window button on, I discovered it was the number one parasite. Further research made me get a digital meter commonly used by the electricians which I finally used to get the actual parasite draining my battery overnight and since then, I've had my peace. The parasitic draw finally dropped from 0.96mA to 0.01mA. GoogleSearch How to Find and Fix a Parasitic Battery Drain I love it when car owners take initiative... |

Car Talk › Re: My A/C Not Cool As B4 And Changes Engine Sound by AutoMoTech(m): 3:30pm On Jan 07, 2022 |
izaac23: My A/C in my Corolla 2003 was always top notch that at lowest, it freezes my hands when driving if I don't push the vent away from pouring directly on my hands,
But in recent months, if I engage it at that lowest, the breeze from the vent hardly blow to where I am sitting until I increase it and is not as cold as before atall, (although still manages to get cool)
When I engage the a/c, the engine sound changes when accelerating from a standstill or driving very slow. (It sounds like a spoilt farm truck) but when spead increases, it gets back to normal sound.
Some say it is normal that the engine is loaded, while some say that the sound is coming from the compressor and it needs attention.
Pls, my people help me, wat can I do to remedy this?? Your AC is not as cold as it used to. Engine noise is more now when you turn on your " AC". You have an issue with your AC system. You don't feel you need to find an AC person to help diagnose the system? |

Car Talk › Re: Help Diagnose An Engine That Wont Start At Once by AutoMoTech(m): 1:18pm On Dec 28, 2021 |
xavuv: You are right bro. The cold start sensor is the culprit, o also changed the 3rd ignition coil and the 4 spark plugs .
Kazeem disconnected the cold start sensor plug and did some wiring voodoo and said i should use it like that.
On my way home, like i just drove 2miles, temp guage stays very low,not even up to the middle mark, i noticed that my AC lost it coolness a bit, and my feet was sweating too much, i parked and open up the bonnet.
Lo and behold, coolant is already boiling and has over spilled into the engine bay. How could it be ! Yet the temp guage stays very low.
Right there i removed all the wiring vodoo and connected my cold start sensor plug back to its rightful place. Immediately after i started the engine again, I noticed the temp guage started working as it should, I.E temp guage now in the middle, AC now super cold as before the wiring voodoo and no more absurd coolant boiling till i reached home.
If not due to my alertness i would have lost a good engine. |

Car Talk › Re: My Corolla 05 Car Is Stalling. by AutoMoTech(m): 1:01pm On Dec 28, 2021 |
homeboy205: Treat the p0171, the lean code go Dey throw random or multiple cylinder misfire This is another angle too. But having looked at the code there is no P0300/random cylinder misfire. The error code P0353 is specific to cylinder 3 circuit/wiring fault and therefore P0303. Meaning there is an existing fault in that circuit. So my assumption is the misfire "might" have caused the lean code. |

Fedrams: Thanks bro. The coil was swap and the problem stopped.
quote author=AutoMoTech post=108858664]
How did you confirm the coil, plugs and injectors (nosule) are ok?
For P0353 4 things are involved. Plugs, coils, wiring and brainbox. You need to test and confirm each of these to narrow down where the problem is. My suggestion, swap coil and plugs from another cylinder to cylinder 3. If the fault remains then you know the problem is either on the wiring or the brainbox itself.
I would suggest you fix this first then worry about the P0171 lean code. All the best. Alright that's good news |

izaac23: I will do that tomorrow and get back to you. But if it's not an engine problem, I doubt if the scan will show... Hence reason for this post to get ideas from experienced pple If it not na engine problem definitely it wont show on scan data na. Just consult a competent tech to help you narrow it down. I gave the above response "solely based on" the response you provided above. |

jgbemson1: I WOULD suggest you scan the car first @OP follow this advice. Since you stated clearly the vibration is from the engine. And also usually when you want to throttle or climb a hill. I fixed a similar problem recently on an 03 corolla. Problem was the spark plugs. I replaced with original tokunbo NGK spark plugs and movement was swift. However in your case pls scan and diagnose the issue first to narrow down the cause. Whatever is being suggested that it is are only guesses. No go touch wetin no spoil. #Diagnose #Don'tThrowParts |

Jollos: Thanks for your response sir.
I scanned today, the guy said the 3 sensor connecting to the engine are bad. He said that was the only thing that came up from the scanner. I asked him if the scanner brought up anything about catalyst and he said no. Maybe I should take it from there I believe it would be wise if you could get the error codes and post here so we can help guide your repair. As mentioned by autologic, the absence of catalyst is not the cause of your "presumed high fuel consumption" |
Car Talk › Re: REMOTE FAULT ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS GUIDE By AutoMoTech by AutoMoTech(op): 4:18pm On Nov 09, 2021 |
Jollos: Good afternoon all ogas,
I travel to and fro Ife from Lagos with my newly acquired pathfinder, it was a smooth journey but I used 15k fuel to and fro. Although I was informed before buying the car there were no catalyst In the exhaust.
One thing I noticed about the car was it won't accelerate more than 120km/h once it is approaching 130 it will slow down by itself. Could this be a serious problem?
I priced catalyst and is above 100k which I can't afford now.
Do I have a remedy to catalyst that will save cost, and will it reduce fuel consumption? Pathfinder 2004 model
Thanks in anticipation. Pls note this, *personally* I do not agree to catalyst causing a terribly high consumption. The function of the catalyst is to lower emission of poisonous gases. So my advice will be in line with my personal belief. So I will advice you look elsewhere for the problem. 1. Have you tried to note how much distance you travel for certain amount of fuel and then compare with what the manufacturer stated? Have you tried to scan the vehicle since you bought it? Is the vehicle naija used or tokunbo? Several things can cause that issue of the car not going beyond 130km/hr. It could be because of a speed limiter or engine performance problem. |
