Structural collapse can be as result of factors unpredictable ( higher magnitude earthquake above the level allowed for during the design stage,) liquidification of the foundation, volcanic eruption etc.

Structural failure can also result from lack of proper understanding of soil property like bearing capacity, settlement rate, shear stress, soil classification etc.

It may also results from lack of proper analysis and design of structural members of the building

It may also result from poor construction techniques etc.

Structural failure can happen to any developer irrespective of been a professional or quack

Your last point here is what i really stressed in my post. Building collapse may be due to Natural disaster that is beyond engineering control, and as well as structural failure that may arise frombso many factors. I refused to put this blame on structural consultant because i have worked in one of the real estate development firm some years back, and i quit within six months because of my future career. Most of them don't have any engineering background and so they don't ha e any respect for engineering procedures and consultancy.

Some packagers are blabbing all manners of building terms they are not even practicing themselves all over social media, so happy about unfortunate incident that claims life and can as well rendered so many people jobless eventually. The jobless one can turn to kidnapper tomorrow and kidnap you for ransome in order to survive.

Yes it very right to say the truth, not only Lekki Gardens are doing such a shuddy job, they are the thief caught today. Prime waters was raining some times ago, but when they had their own cup of tea at Panti area of Lagos, multistorey whort a billion colapse without casualties they learn their lesson. Mike Adenuga GLO house also has it's own share of collapse during construction at Challenge in ibadan, almost on a rocky land, is that a lekki or Ajah Land?. Synagogue structure that collapse was it built on Lekki- Ajah land.

In a situation like this our presentation matters a lot. Before you remove a spec in someone eye please remove the log in your own eyes.

Natural disaster, can only be tamed by God and No technology per say. May God always keep us save. Amen

Thanks for the question, let me address that of finance first. Little financial assistance means token that will serve as a form of motivation, it may be a little bellow average but should be able to cover daily transport fare and feeding.

i like your sense of communication and determination. How i wish i have a placement for you right now. I started like this i went through a training under a well grounded engineer for four straight years after my my first degree in civil engineering at a very small salary and that really helped me even to attained my professional certification. I just engaged some young Engineers and i hope to be of help shortly.

As the Carcass work progress to final stage:
1. Third suspended floor slab and Beam almost completed
2. We will proceed to the last set of columns
3. Roof Beam, roof Gutter and insitu parapet
4. Making up of Blocks work from Ground floor to the third floor.

work update: Second floor slab in progress

Hello brabus,

I am not suppose to be a watchdog on here but i think i can send my little input because the no 1 priority of showcasing the work on thread is to open your work to criticism so that you can get the work done right, so the client and the builder are happy at the end of the day.

I wan you to re-check the spacing of your columns links, for a ground floor to first floor column which is going to bear the entire load from the roofing to the foundation; T16 mm is perfect, even though T 12 could work is some cases depending on what your design analysis gives you, but i observed that the spacing of the stirrups (rings/links) in your fabricated columns reinforcement seems to be somehow too wide from what i am seeing (i may not be precise) it seems the spacing is up to 350mm to 400mm which i know it should at best be 250mm for proper resisting of column shearing.

I am quite very sure that if i am right, you have not done this for profit making because the cost difference in using 350mm- 400mm spacing as against 250mm cant be up to 200 naira per column, so i beleive this could be a negligence on the part of the fabricator. So, i advice that you check the spacing on the fabricated columns vis-a-vis what you have in the drawings and make quick corrections if necessary, but if that is the spacing recommended by your structural engineer, pls pardon me and go ahead with his instruction, as a distance observer who am i to judge his work.
