Chekitaut:formwork lowered. Reinforcement completed. slab reinforcement in progress. grd floor to first floor columns completed. casting of grd beam in a short while, we are trying to get something very right from the start. |
Who impregnated ur slab. lol |
![]() segcymoor:filling is always like that very difficult to be precise. God help you my broda. |
Reinforcement work to soon be completed and to be lowered. Hoping to pour ground beam concrete next week. |
kopell:yes the mechanised systems are yet to be attached it will be fixed before commencing production. The machine can only produce on at a time. |
OP please find another name for the foundation you are constructing. this is not a raft foundation. mere fact that you have a ground beam here does not make this a raft fdn. A raft foundation is type where you have your ground slab and the beam reinforced and in monolithic condition. This type of foundation is absolutely good for bungalow only in a water logged area where you there is tendency for the use of blocks at fdn may be weaken by the water. Well i believe you are acting based on your structural engr design but honestly absolutely wrong, if i have to explain this then i will have to write an epistle, but kindly check previous thread of segcymoore, kkonsult, brabus and other to see what is called raft foundation. |

Work progress update: 1. Formwork taken to 70%, so iron fixers can do their work non stop. 2. reinforcement work up to 50% 3. We took delivery of reinforcement for ground floor slab and grd floor columns today (see above pics) so that as soon as we are done with grd beam casting, the iron prep commences while filling and surface prep is in progress. 4. Block making machine already onsite but we hold on production as every where is tight they could not get material into the side due to heap of sand, so as soon as we are done with grd beam and back fill the production will commence in earnest.

@Brag3 if I get you right you said in the original drawing there is a pent floor meant to be 3 bedroom flat. You want to know if you can convert the 3 bedroom pent floor to 3 nos of self contain to generate more rental yield. This doesn't seems to be an additional load since you are only converting and not adding extra new floor. Since your architect has given you the go ahead, I am sure they must have checked that the conversion won't pose any challenge beyond the factor of safety they have considered during design. But one truth is that if your architect is an expert space manager he should be able to advice you that pent floor is always for an exclusive use. Now if you convert it to multiple apartment it may loose its functionality, as 3 occupants may have to use a very small lobby at the second floor. So I will advice you let it be as 3 bed flat except you are excepting students to be the tenants. |
oakhill:it cannot except the size of this design is reduced a bit. oga spyder880 tx for taking ur time to visit our humble thread Hat up, keep up the good work at the eastern end of nija. |
segcymoor:Chief builder, Tuesday...!!! Waow God will grant you the speed and the grace. I guess you may have to work late or do some nite shift, |
brag3:Sir, there are two determinant factors to the foundation height (raft fdn in particular) 1. The load that the beam is going to bear, this will be determined by structural design. 2. The desired height above the natural Ground level (NGL). In the case of our ongoing project the desirable depth was achieved at the point where there is soil bearing capacity high enuf for the this structure (900mm or 0.9 m or 3ft) and also i think the structural engr and Architect were of opinion of minimum of 600 mm above the natural ground level at the car park area and 900 mm at some other area. So it is basically the structural design and the site topography (i:e site natural grd level relative to the road or envisaged road level) petikal:This structure was designed to fit into one plot of 60 x 120 ft but when we got to site we discover that the plot was wider than 60 ft, and that becomes an additonal advantage to the car drive way it become bigger. |
sorry for the typo . 1.5m by layman's term is 5 boards |
brag3:The height of the fdn is 1.8m (by layman's term we ll say 6 boards) this include 0.2m raft slab, in some area the height is 1.5m (6 boards) including the raft slab. (this are the areas of car park under the house, it was reduced so that to allow for easy movement of the vehicles. The 3 board u saw is not an overall height yet, we did 3 for now because 5 to 6 boards will be too heavy to carry into the trench and set properly, also it will be too high for iron fixers to stand and work on it. After dropping the iron the remaining formwork will be added to meet up to various desired heights. |
Form work prep and fixing in the trenches in progress................
|
Hello every one, Work in progress outline: 1. Formwork preparation for ground beam 2. Preparation to commence block making on site. 3. Ground beam reinforcement fully prepared awaiting form work before fixing. Pictures update shortly. |
work in progress: Material delivery stone dust and Granite courtesy of smile01 and checkitaut , Cement delivery, woods partially delivered rest on the way,. Borehole done water now available, blinding ongoing, trench scraping ongoing. We are set t move now......

Fhemmmy:You are welcome sir. The work is still in progress just 2 line of work: excavation and reinforcement preparation. There are no much difference in pics for now. As from next week by God's Grace more line of works and progressive pictorial inflow will start flowing in. |
Fhemmmy:The soil is loose at the top level, but basically it was at 0.9 meter that we have a reasonable bearing capacity that can sustain the pressure of the structure (according to soil test report). so we had to take the grd beam tovthos level even though it may be cumbersome we have no option than to follow due standard. |
More updates of the work: . Excavation in progress ..Reinforcement Preparation in progress ....Site house construction ongoing

EgunMogaji:he is a contractor, I ll give you his contact. he is in Togo right now. Whenever he is in town he will call me to let me know is back. He is Mr Peter by name 08035751201 just tell him you are calling from Engr Niyi |
EgunMogaji:Thank you sir. |
@ Hajj: hajj Mufutau vouched for us as per delivering what you see, and so shall these be by God's grace. |
mufutau55:I amso glad we have people who believe with God all things are possible. So we do believe so and we took over the site in The name of God (Spiritual site handing over) while the physical will really take place on Monday by God's Grace. so some pics below shows the site over view. Meanwhile, i will like to seek for pardon in advance because i may not meet your expectation WHEN IT COMES TO SPEAKING GRAMMAR, any typical engineer will tell you that our language is drawing, but i promised to do my best. I am saying all these because someone was asking where is the seventh flats, I summarized all the service rooms and facility managers office together and i named them flat 7.
