Mr. Amechi is someone I used to have much respect for but his utterances lately have proved he is not as principled as I used to think. An Idiot with few words could be mistaken for a wise man but a wise man whose utterances cannot be controlled is the real idiot. @Mr. Amechi, outside politics, you should know that each blood that drops on the ground due to your possible incitement would count against you. I remember seeing you closely during a church service and I want you to know that without God, you cannot go further. My prayers are with you as always. |
@Poster, Every man knows what he wants... |
RuuDie:@RuuDie, Thanks for your opinion about my contribution however, you may wish to recall that there are some people you might be relating with online and based on their voice, sense of reasoning or other unseen factors you might start developing "feelings" (decision) for them thereby desiring to meet or hang out with them? Same time, do you know they are some kind of people you won't like to relate with while other people prefer relating with such people? This is decision... Desire truly could be "spontaneous" but it's spontaneity is a determinant of decision and not beclouded sentiment - lust. Decision triggers desire. Bros, if you don't decide to like certain things, you won't ever desire them. You can't desire a lady you have never decided to.... you know now. Imagine seeing a Sex Worker along the Street and desiring to have her even when you have already decided not to patronize their service All you do is just lust after her. Desire is action-oriented. |
stag:@Stag, Your question is understandable. Sex is not Love but one feels cheated when one's Partner makes love to someone else due to our expectation(s) that such should not happen. Our fore fathers married many wives and these wives possibly were not feeling cheated having known they are in polygamous home. Sex with a commercial Sex Worker is not a true sign of love but more often than not a mere desire to satisfy the flesh. People who claimed to be in love are often possessive of each other hence any outsider's engagement is considered cheating. |
UjSizzle:@UjSizzle, Certainly the desire won't die off like you rightfully said; however, one important attribute of humanity is the ability to make DECISION. Perhaps whether such decision is religiously implemented or not becomes a topic for another day. Desire is a product of decision and it has an intrinsic feature that only the human mind and Almighty understand. Action is what brings to bear the inherent desire inside of us, desire is nothing if there is no equivalent inadvertent sale of such feelings via attempted action. This is what makes us imperfect humans. You won't know I love you if I do not start acting like I do, same way desire won't be noticeable if there is no iota of action. By the way, DESIRE being a verb has action attached to it....wanting to, to put, to express, to require; these are all ways of attempting to define DESIRE. Thanks for your observation and comment. It's encouraging... |
@Poster, It's relatively possible depending on what the main interest is in the relationship. What we often call love might exist due to personal interest(this you may call decision) and when such interest is not in tandem with sex then the desire will only flash once in a while. Additionally, the physical or emotional closeness of both parties can equally factor out or in the desire or urge to have sex. So, on one hand it is possible not to "have" the desire especially if sex has been ruled out by both parties from the beginning and on the other hand, it is not possible due to our sinful nature that the slightest desire or urge to have sex won't come up if you are seeing each other in compromised places. |
I think you have already proffered solution on what you have to do which by the way, is to follow your heart. You don't have to wait if you know you can't wait for him. There is no certainty that this guy will marry you even after securing the much needed job. You didn't mention if he has ever proposed to you or not. Friendship is not all that marriage requires. For the fact that you are already polarized in your thinking I guess it's high time you started settling down with someone ready. All the very best in your decision...make decisions you can live with... |
I guess from the analysis so far, I stick to Airtel. I just hope they will provide better tomorrow for my loyalty, "cos that is what FREEDOM means to me, |
Tears for Nigeria, This nation would fall if the North capitalise on their will at all cost, I pray for the nation, |
With the death of Osisi ka Nkwu, I guess South East might have achieve some measurable level of security no matter how tentative it looks. The evils in the society could be great but if we must make our journey as a nation where peace and unity reign, then we have to start by eliminating people like the Osisi ka Nkwu. I have never been a Subscriber of IBB, ATIKU, ORJI KALU nor any other of the corrupt Politicians but their level of savagery cannot be compared with that of Osisi ka Nkwu. Killing innocent peoples?Robbing peace from the Society they pretend to fight for? Raping our women? Of a truth, Abia wasn't a God's Own State during Osisi's terrior reign. We might not be safer without him but we are heading towards a peaceful society without men like him. I think his death worth celebrating especially considering this festive period it came. Nigeria can only work with less men like him. The IBBs, ATIKUs, ORJI UZOs would one day pay their own prize for deceiving the society. Let's wait and see. Believe me, these men are not happier as we think, Nemesis is already rewarding them while alife. ABIA no go Spoil, we must live in Nigeria as our home |
My Guy, I can understand how you feel. It is quite disheartening when you are faithful to someone only to be seen as be unfaithful. But then, I guess there was some kind of communication breakdown some where for this to have accumulated to this height. My advice is that you talk more with her and give her more reasons not to think you are seeing the 20 year. If you used to be more at leisure with the Cozn then reduce it for now. I wish you the best Bros |
hillsate:My Dear, you are correct. Atiku has no shame. The first day I plied that Gombe-Yola road, I realised that he is a failure to people of Adamawa not to talk of Naija at large. He is a disgrace to us in Nigeria. Let him go and rest. |
Bros, You can sell this 10m Barrels to the US Government. They might need it. SSSSSSSScccccccccccccccccAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAmmmmmmm at its best. |

All hail Dora, |
Our poeple have one story which I want to share with us: A Piglet asked the mother one day why the mother's mouth is twisted and the mother Pig replied by telling the Piglet that one day same question would be asked to the Piglet. Sanusi might be doing well now but he should not aggrandize himself at the cost of Soludo. Let him perform his scene now he's on stage. Sanusi please concentrate on your KPIs and allow Nemesis to judge Soludo if need be. Soludo has never claimed to have been a Saint. |
The Yar'duas have taken Nigeria so many years backward such that one wonders if there is any real committment(s) on the part of our so-called Leaders to move Nigeria forward. I know one day this nation would certainly moved forward if only we can reduce tribal or regional or religious sentiments. Yar'dua might not be the only best brain to move us forward as a Nation. while we pray for his quickest recovery, even as they claimed he is back to Nigeria, those fronting him should save Nigeria from another round political game-power. I pray that Nigeria would come out of this Greedy-Poliiticians-made-mess stronger as a nation. God bless NIGERIA. |
Welcome Mr. President indeed. A President sneaking into his own country late in the night What a shame to the Yaradua's.I have lost confidence in Mr. President. He was a man I respected so much but his attitude of "I must-rule-by-all-means is bad of him. I wish him the best |

So if two people rule out sex, it still shouldn't mean the desire dies off. It may not be the primary focus of your relationship, but the thought of it (whenever it does come) shouldn't be repulsive. I think that's what the op meant when she asked if it were possible to love someone, yet not desire them.
