Kobojunkie: We are all guilty of what?
Jesus Christ dined with tax collectors means what? Even the Pharisees pointed at Christ While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples.
When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.
But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Matthew 9:10-13 NIV Often we need to come down. Be spiritually poor, make friends with those we perceived as sinners. Then we can introduce Christ to them. I believe that's part of lifestyle evangelism. |

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,

38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

Kobojunkie: You eat food, as it says in Matthew 7 vs 25 - 34.
It is how you obtain that food, and the other things you need that changes - John 6 vs 25 - 29. Rather than slaving away under the sun to provide for yourself, you instead do what God wants and He does the proving, just as He said He will in Matthew 7 vs 25 - 34 Matthew 6 instead. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Living A Perfect Christian Life Is Hard But Possible by Ayo081(m): 7:36pm On Sep 26, 2021 |
Kobojunkie: Jesus Christ didn't ask anyone to donate most of their riches to charity. He instead said anyone who wants to become His disciple , having a part in Heaven, must sell everything and give it all away to the poor- this commandment is for both rich and poor alike - Matthew 13 vs 44 - 46 and Matthew 19 vs 16 - 30. Also note, Jesus Christ did not ask them to give to any organization but to the poor.
Another thing to note is that Jesus Christ promised that those who abandon everything for His sake shall reap so much more than they left, here on earth,in addition to eternal life - Matthew 19 vs 28 - 30 Noted. Who then is a typical disciple today May His Grace be multiplied to us. |

tctrills: The phase, Sought favor from God does not change the incident. In Abraham's case, God clearly knew Sodom and Gomorrah were ropen for destruction, the cities could not be redeemed. It seems you don't Get me, I understand God's mercy and forgiveness. I understand prayer and asking God for something. But in Moses case, God was angry and wanted to destroy Israel until Moses gave him reason to change his mind. My point is, he did not need Moses, he us many time wiser and more reasonable than man. I can understand mercy and forgiveness. But thi's was not the case. Moses points were 1. The people would laugh and mock God. 2. Moses reminded him of his promise to Abraham. While I try to get you or not, Or you try to get me or not, I have been able to reflect on the kinda people God wants and will trusts as His shepherd (call it whatever, maybe disciple). Those that have compassion. Abraham, Moses and Christ fit into this. |
Christianity Etc › Re: What Good Character Have You Developed Since You Started Attending Your Church? by Ayo081(m): 6:43pm On Sep 26, 2021 |
MaxInDHouse: I am Maximus. Before i started studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses i use to view everyone around me as suspects because i was taught that mankind are dubious. I am only play and chat with people i know and i don't really know much about God or Jesus.
But when i began studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses there was a turn around, i now know that i'm obligated to make friends with all the people in my neighbourhood by going to visit them (uninvited) for discussions having to do with God! Malachi 3:16 compare to Matthew 10:11-13; 28:19-20
I discovered that peace is missing in the human society because of lack of communication, so instead of waiting until something happens i need to approach my neighbour with a friendly smile to know what he thinks of me and vise versa. This will help us know our boundaries and we won't have to hurt each other since we already knew about what each person wants!
Then i also discovered that most people feel their neighbour supposed to know how to deal with them without any formal communication, so when they see their neighbour doing things the way they feel is absurd they will mock him.
I also learned that it's wrong to force my beliefs on others so if there is no agreement i mustn't disturb my neighbour's peace. So if i try to reach out to my neighbour and he is not in the mood i should book another appointment instead of disturbing him with noise all in the name of God.
I also learned that politics is the root cause of all the evil on this planet so there's no way one can meddle in Politics without having secret friends like Fornicators, Adulterers, Murderers, Prostitutes, Witches, Fraudsters, Drunkards and many others since a politician needs the support of all these people before becoming part of the rulers! Galatians 5:19-21
In fact i've learned a lot just to mention few! Interesting! |

MightySparrow: The promise to Abraham goes beyond that. It became a covenant. Covenant puts a limit to one's use of power. You submit your strength for the other.
Having studied covenant for about fifteen years now, I almost conclude, why would God do that?
Later in the scriptures, God was looking for intercessors, those who would appeal to him on behalf of Israelites.
God is the only wise. Perfect in all his ways. Absolutely!, he is a covenant keeping God. Reason why John 3:16 is valid. 'For whosoever'. |

tctrills: I read it, and I have no problem with it. It is totally different from what occurred in Exodus.
In Exodus, God wanted to destroy Israel but for Moses intervention. Again I Genesis, Abraham did not make God to change his mind. Maybe I am not getting your point. So let me ask today, can we get God to change his mind? Yes, the Bible used the word sought 'favor from the Lord'. Moses sought the favor. Abraham did the same and God gave him a condition. If the Condition was met, Sodom and Gomorrah won't be destroyed. Just like we should perish but the condition is to accept Christ and then everlasting life. 11 But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God. “Lord,” he said, “why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?

tctrills: Are you saying that if we do not remind him, he would break his promise? You are confusing everything. You say he does not forget but we need to remind him. Don't you see the contradiction. And what does Solomon and first Kings 11 have to do with this? Did you read the chapters? Exodus 32 and 1 Kings 11? Unlike Exodus 32, in 1 Kings 11 God remembered the promise. I'm sure if God had not mention the promise, Solomon will use that as a point for forgiveness. Please read those chapters. You can go further to see how Abraham pleads/bergain with God in Genesis 18:16-33. This things are written for us, I didn't frame them. |

tctrills: When you say rememberin God his promise, dies God forget his promise? Does he need to be remained? Would God break his promise if we don't remain hum? He doesn't. But our rebellion will attract his anger. However, when we remind of his words, he will forgive us. 13 Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’ ”
14 Then the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened. Exodus 32:13-14 NIV Read Exodus 32 and 1 Kings 11. There more references too. |

MaxInDHouse: Christianity is a peaceful religion and the reason why Christianity is peaceful is because we do not meddle in the political affairs of this world! John 15:19; 17:14-16; 18:36 Those killing people in the North aren't targeting any religionist per say, what they don't want is DEMOCRACY rather they prefer SHARIA. So any religionist standing in the way even if it's a Muslim is not safe! Neither did she receive The Holy Spirit.
So Inspite of her works of benevolence her case was really no different from Jarius's Daughter or the Centurions loved servant and all the other healing and restoration cases.
Nothing Noteworthy happened to her, as is evident in the men, hence my query. Truly truly I tell you, she's got the biggest of them all which is love (Which I believe was a result of the Holy Spirit in her). 1 Corinthians 13. BUT, looking at this case, we still see that God did not Touch her UNTIL PETER DID. God thoughts are not ours. He decided to user her that way. Probably as an example of how women could be good disciples. |
