jesusjnr2020: For those who are obsessed with erecting gargantuan places of worship here on Earth in the name of God, thinking that it meant anything to God, and the advancement of His Kingdom here on Earth, the instance of the first temple built by king Solomon could teach them a lesson or two, on the value God places on such things.
If they only knew how much time, effort and resources went into the construction of the temple Solomon built for God, and how much details was involved. Some estimate the cost of the building to be in the region 20 billion dollars in today's currency value when inflation and other parameters were factored in. Yet when the hearts of the people of Israel were turned against God, and they had begun to work abominations and went contrary to His ways, He didn't hesitate to send men who would raze the impressive building down among other things, to prove what was more important to Him.
This was even before the coming of Jesus when God yet literally dwelt in a temple built with men's hands, to show that such structures no matter how impressive and valuable were secondary to God. And that the most important thing to Him is the heart of a man, which was the basis of house that Jesus built for Him without men's hands.
Hence when the disciples who were impressed themselves, showed Him how impressive the building and stones of the temple were, He told them that not one stone would be left on top of the other that would not be thrown down, to change their orientation towards such things, so they'd also know the value God places on such. And that what was more important to God was not such houses built with men's hands, no matter how impressive, but the heart of a man, where He now dwells. Matthew 13:1-2.
Hence that's what they should focus on and try to make as impressive as possible, and a befitting place for God to dwell.
God bless.
I can see you know the WORD so well! But in addition to everything you mentioned, remember:
1. It was God's idea that a temple (beautiful) be built for him, He instructed David, and David mandated Solomon.
2. Since Silver and gold belongs to the Lord, if we choose to build church temples this days, it won't be a crime if it is massive and beautiful.
3. We're indeed the temple of God, but he also instructed that we shouldn't forsake the fellowship of one another, hence the reason for church building at all.
4. As much as we know that when Christ comes all church buildings wouldn't matter, but for now, let the church building do it's work of housing all of us heirs of God.
It's not in our place to judge, Let's let God be the judge.!!
mugnmuffin: Dear Nairalanders, I have an issue that has been on my mind for weeks now. My fiancé and I have been dating for over three years. I love him and he loves me too. We are physically attracted to each other. We’re both catholic but since I graduated, during my service year I gave my life to Christ, got saved and left the Catholic Church. So I’ve been a Pentecostal Christian since then. He on the other hand is still catholic. I subtly try to nudge him to consider getting saved, i.e acknowledging Christ as lord and savior and becoming born again but he is content with his laidback Christian life.
Earlier this year, he asked to meet my parents and I let him. My parents like him especially because my younger sis is married and they have been waiting for me too. They’re glad I’ve someone. However, after the introduction,I regret it. I’m now certain that he’s not the one. I think about my spiritual life and how lukewarm he is about the things of God, I think about kids and how we’ll raise the, with such differing views about God and I’m discouraged. I feel like I’m settling because he checks all the boxes on the checklist of physical attributes. Another mistake I made is, I didn’t pray about this decision and that worries me because anything that involves him,I just act with pausing to ask God, but I always ask God about other aspects of my life. So it’s like my associating with him is a minus for my spiritual life and that’s a huge cause for concern.
At this point, I want to tell my parents I am not convinced it’s him but I’m afraid of the disappointment this will cause. *sigh* I’ll appreciate your thoughts, comments, criticisms...
Why all the bashing on this innocent lady??!
It's not unusual to want to have a retrospect, and think to be certain if you're or you're not about to make a mistake on your choice of whom to marry...
Ask anyone who is married, they'll tell you that they sometimes feel like they married the wrong person.
So, what you're feeling is not a crime like people are making it seem.
What I just feel is that, as Christians, it's important that our partners are on the same religious page with us.
If you feel you're unsure about this, you might want to take a step backwards and seek counsel from whom you consider a mentor.
Let me ask you a question, Are you both going through any church pre-marital counseling
KennedyF: Hello everyone, Bear with me pls, this might be a long read and I apologise in advance for any grammatical error.
Recently I've had a lot of thinking about my life after school, how I can finally support my family after I graduate this year, I am the first son and the first child in my mom's extended family, so I have a lot of people looking up to me, and we only have one source of income in my family which is my dad, and recently he developed a health condition which affects his eyesight, and that is making his work nearly impossible. The problem now that I'm facing is that I literally don't know what I want to do after school, normally I've had this notion that I will cross that bridge when I reach there, but now the bridge is so close and I have no idea of how to cross, to make things worse, I saw my result this semester and I failed two courses which will make me to come back for an extension, it makes me sad whenever I think about it, cos my dad will have to continue his risky job (thats even riskier cos of his eyesight) for a year or so Sad part is that I can't even think of any side job that might be profiting me while in school or any work that I can do without a certificate, my friends aren't giving me anything useful, I wanted to learn graphics design, I'm passionate about editing photo and videos, I also wanted to learn animation back when I was in secondary school, but my parents killed that dream telling me to go for a professional course, back then they were still thinking school is the only answer to being successful, now I regret allowing them to let that passion die. Right now I need you guys advice if you have any concerning my situation, or if you've being in a similar situation like mine, I need to know how you made it out successfully
I will accept your criticism, advice and whatever piece of info you can share with me
Bros I don't mean to sound rude, but I feel your family is under a serious spiritual siege.
Behind everything that not working well, there's a force at work ~Dr Paul Enenche
I advise you go to the nearest MFM church around you. Or to any Dunamis church by 9.30am next Tuesday.
KingAzubuike: This is part of what I'm saying. Most people protesting against SARS are Yahoo boys or affiliates/beneficiaries of Yahoo boys. SARS is going no where whether you like it or not
Shebi you are the PRO of SARS abi? It's because they have not harassed you before
But they have succeeded in killing and dividing the union.
Let the southerners enjoy their union there!
I just knew it, you're only here to make a case for the North and Islam; but guy, we're here making a case for good governance and religious tolerance, get the difference
Dahyormine: send a pm, I reside in ajah, got it all
Bro, Please kindly reach me on my phone number or email. Because I'm having problems sending you a PM, the email field is not clickable at my end here.

Hey guys! I'm looking forward to vacationing in Dubai after the pandemic. I tried doing some research online to get information on how to go about it, but it seems too misleading.
Someone should please help out with latest DIY info. Thanks
Sheggy13: By baba, you mean Tinubu I want to believe. I'm a Yoruba guy born and bred in Lagos of the Ondo stock but honestly, majority of indigenous Lagosians are some daft set of people to allow one man sit in Bourdillon and decide everything that should happen in the state. I guess only he has the monopoly of wisdom there. It's a big insult to people with brains there. Quite unfortunate.
Since you were born and bred in Lagos, I think you can lead a revolution that will oust Baba!
If you can't do anything about Bourdillion power that be, I suggest you keep quiet!
One thing I know is, whether Baba likes it or not, he will die one day, and all this baba sope will die with him
Badooguy: If the date are the same, let him take excuse from the new job to resume the next day.
THIS IS THE BEST ADVICE SO FAR!!
LET HIM CALL THEM THAT HE'LL BE RESUMING THE DAY FOLLOWING THE RESUMPTION DATE!! THAT HE HAS A TRAINING FOR THAT RESUMPTION DATE!!(I'M SURE HE'LL LEARN ONE OR TWO THINGS DURING THE INTERVIEW SO IT'S NOT A LIE)
