The best thing is to allow the two to exist, if dangote price is that cheap importers will naturally and gradually phase out but banning of importation of fuel will not end well believe me.
you are right that is why I don't support our narrative of backward integration which is what Dangote and BUA relied on to gain control of the cement and sugar industry. I got to know that At a time Otedola wanted to import Portland cement twice cheaper than that of Dangote but was sabotaged. I personally don't believe in local content if there is no competition. What the Petroleum Marketers ought to do is to pull up together into a group and build a refinery that rivals Dangote the unfortunate part is that it takes about 10 years to achieve that. So their best bet should be having multiple modular refineries lest say like 10 to 20, at least each can be completed in 2 to 4 years. With that they can beat his game

InvestmentRe: Need Help On My Dad's Life Insurance File I Dug Out by ayoncox: 11:53am On Jul 18, 2025
usedcardealerph:
Please if you've the intention to troll rather than helping, this thread doesn't need your comment.

Back to the reason of the thread.

Good day all, I painfully lost my dad few months ago and while I was going through his old files, I discovered a file and while I was going through it found out that my late dad invested in a life insurance scheme with AIICO insurance back then in 1987. And he made a deposit of ₦2, 980 to the insurance company with receipts through an agent working with the insurance company at that time. And it's a 21 year life insurance as the document shows. Looking at the time frame, I believe that money must have sky rocketed to what I believe is a large sum as ₦2, 980 is a lot of money envisioning the interest that has accrued then I believe so. Be aware that AIICO insurance are still in business as we speak and I need opinions of those that understand insurance and honest insurance brokers to advise. Thank you as I await responses from good people in here.🙏
that should be equivalent to about 3 million naira or more now. This situation raises a few important points. Here's a direct and honest take on it:
Insurance Maturity vs. Investment

Life insurance policies—especially in the 1980s in Nigeria—were often either term life (no payout unless death during term) or endowment (pays at maturity or on death).

If it was an endowment policy for 21 years, it should have matured in 2008.

If no one claimed it in 2008, it might still be claimable, though some companies have statutes of limitation on unclaimed benefits.

Interest Accrual Expectation

Unlike savings or fixed deposits, insurance payouts are not necessarily subject to compound interest unless it was a savings-linked or investment-linked policy.

The ₦2,980 may have been a premium payment, and the maturity amount would have been predefined in the policy terms—not necessarily growing by today's inflation standards.

Check the Document Details

Does the document clearly say expected maturity amount?

Does it state sum assured?

Does it have policy number, agent’s name, and company stamp?

What To Do Next

Contact AIICO Insurance PLC directly with the policy document and receipts.

Go in person or email their claims/customer service department.

If you meet resistance or neglect, you may contact NAICOM (National Insurance Commission) for guidance.

Possibility of Claim

If the claim is valid and AIICO still recognizes the policy, they may pay.

If it matured and was never claimed, they might have placed it in an unclaimed account

what is ₦328,000,000 per year?

Based on the above, help me do the following arithmetic:

1. if you multiply 26m and 28m by 12months respectively, what will you get?

2. also, if you divide 656m paid by fidelity bank by 2years, what will you get?
meanwhile it's obvious that Ananmbr has a lot to do because there are States like Ogun, Kwara, not to talk of Lagos and Rivers that have companies remitting more than 2 to 5 billion naira as tax

Taich:
This headline has many hidden meanings. Like Dangote or hate him, the masses are the ones being played here. Dangote came into the Cementing sector, we all other players were pushed out. We know how the price of cement went. Dangote business model is market disruption at errant, then monopoly and finally the masses pay massively for the only supplier.

I have people thinking my statement lacked facts, Dangote and Ibeto has been in and out of court over cement, Dangote and BUA has issues over sugar. Dangote cement is one of the priciest in the market. These are facts, Dangote business model end game is monopoly.
That is not an issue, the marketers should pull funds together and form a group then start their own refinery then drop the price lower than his to beat him at his game

I'm not saying Akpabio is right or wrong, but personally I know of more than two former senators that presently struggle to make ends meet.

BTW, being a lawmaker shouldn't be an avenue to become richer but to serve your country better.
they struggle because they were careless with what they earned and perhaps living above their capacity not considering they are no more drawing from national cake

You need evidence bro, they need to first of all make the man confess to his crime and once they have that evidence, they can now approach any authority with the evidence.

All they need is to manipulate that man and make him comfortable around the girl and once that is done, they will manipulate him into confessing to his own crime and they get evidence against him.

CrimeRe: My Cousin Was Just Raped And I Don't Know What To Do. by ayoncox: 7:34am On Jul 08, 2025
Casham:
My cousin just told me last night that she just got raped on Sunday afternoon/evening (6th July, 2025).
I stay with them for now. She's 18, the first of two daughters and was still virgin (as far as I know). Her only [older] brother is in school.
She's been acting funny since on Sunday evening. She couldn't hold it in anymore and, since there is no one else she could actually confide in, she confided in me. Now she's begging me not to tell anyone and not to cause trouble. She only wants me to help her get a drug (if any) that will prevent pregnancy.
She told me about the man coming to see her in her mother's restaurant and said she was going to talk to the man about getting me a job, but when she went into his car, he forced himself on her.

Honestly I am angry right now! I am angry at three things:
First, I am angry at my family. I have a family where the children are afraid to open up, because if you do, you will be blamed and castigated upon. I understand her fear and apprehension about letting other people know, but I just can't let this go.

Secondly, I am angry at our society. How can a man confidently feels he can force himself on a lady and get away with it? What kind of society do we have?

Thirdly, I am angry at myself. I am angry because I feel helpless. I can't let this thing go. I have to deal with this man, but I don't know how to do it without putting my cousin in a difficult position. I have tried to let her know that it is not her fault and that the man needs to pay for this, but she's been begging me to just let it go. She only confided in me because she's really scared of getting pregnant. According to her though, there was never any real penetration, but the man (who is a high ranking government official) actually "released" ON her, not IN her. (Does that even make sense?)
How can I handle this issue right now? For me, I am planning to go all out and let hell break loose and let the heavens fall if they have to.
First ask the details of the guy that raped her, get full details then head over to the police or human right lawyer, else the guy will repeat it again
