Wow shocked! You just made me so speechless boss, I really respect your personality, owing to the fact that you do take your time to point a green light at most questions asked by many ignoramus like me on this thread, may the good lord continue to perfect all that concerns you. Thanks a bunch! I so much appreciate it and All your points are well noted! kiss

TheCongo2:
Wow ... You know already about Richmond Street, I am impressed.

Anyway, I took my kids out today to get you some pics of Western University and its surroundings.
To answer your question, yes you can share a room in an apartment within 1 km from the University.
One way to go about it is to post a free ad on kijiji indicating that you are a WU student looking for a room starting September 2017.
You will have to open an account with kijiji and it is free https://www.kijiji.ca/h-london/1700214

There is one building near the university that I would like to recommend you. The address of the building is 1235 Richmond Street. OMG, this building looks like a five stars hotel. (Please see picture below)
A lot of Western University students rent into this building during the school year.

I went into the building to speak to the Front Desk lady.
She told me that a student who wants to share a room in this building should expect to spend within $600 to $900 Canadian per month. There is a Free shuttle bus running from the building to the university every hour I think. The ride may take 5 to 15 minutes, depending on which part of Western University you going. The Spenser Building is located next to Western Road which is on the other side of the Western University. So, it would take you about 10 to 15 minutes with the shuttle bus.

Now, This building (1235 Richmond Street) has a website luxelondon.ca
If you want to share an apartment, you can post an ad on the website under "find a roommate" http://www.luxelondon.ca/roommate-matching

For more information about the building call 519-913-3334 and ask to speak to Fernando or send a email to admin@luxelondon.ca

On a different note, there are a number of other buildings next to 1235 Richmond and they all seem to be nice. I didn't ask about the other ones given that the building 1235 seems to be standing out of the pack and it seems to be the place where I have seen many Western University Students.

If you want to call the www.clvgroup.com, don't ask them about the apartment on Wonderland Road South given that this will be too far from Western University. Instead, the clvgroup has a set of building on 939 Western Road, not to far from the University . It seems like a lot of Western University students rent there as well. I asked a resident if there is a free shuttle bus for Western University students but she told me she doesn't know of any. However, there is a City bus going from there to Western university.

Awww! Am just seeing this, thanks for the insight boss. Please how can I go about gettting a shared apartment max of 3bedroom and less than 1km to western,is the same link you provided also applicable? what are the factors to put into consideration before taking up an offcampus housing and is there any street or part of Richmond one should look up to as I will be more frequent in spencer engineering building SEB(engineering option). Thanks in anticipation boss

TheCongo2:
For the most part, there are many good neighborhoods in London. London is very nice.
If you want my personal opinion, I would recommend that you get in touch with this agency https://www.clvgroup.com/ and ask them if they have any apartment available on Wonderland Road South, London, Ontario. This agency own a lot of buildings around the city.
When I first moved here, I rented from them one of the apartment at one of the buildings on Wonderland road south. Wow... that place was amazing.

There is only 1 police station in London, Ontario. The police station is located at the corner of Dundas and Adelaide Street. Please avoid that part of the city as it is drug infected and too many street hookers have also invaded the place. Most of the homeless shelters are located within that vicinity.

Thanks a lot boss, the information is well noted! shocked

TheCongo2:
Soyez de bienvenue a London (Welcome to London, Ontario). I am sure you will like the place. By the way, I am Congolese but naturalized Nigerian via nairaland wink .

If you are a Christian, I would recommend to check the Open Door Church when you get here. This is one of the biggest congregation in London, Ontario. I have been attending this church ever since I have moved to London. Our pastor, Howard Katz, is a local businessman. His parents were holocaust survivors. It would be a very good place for you to meet friends as there are plenty of activities for young adults.
We have few Nigerians in the Congregation and some of them are on student visa.
I have a high regard of 2 Nigerians students in my church. Wow... those kids are just amazing and they are involved in the ministry. I always see them as family and they have spent some nights at my house.
The Open Door Church is mostly white. However, if you prefer black churches, there is the Church of Pentecostal few blocks away from the Open Door Church. The church of Pentecostal is made mostly of Ghanaians and Nigerians.

If you are a muslim, please disregard the above. We also have few mosques in Town.

The funny thing is that I never met any Nigerian who knows what is nairaland. They have all never heard about it.

I am coming in as a graduate student, UWO to be precise and not coming to London immediately i land coz my fams who are already a citizen lives in Toronto so there is no how I can avoid stopping over at their place . Although non of them has ever been to London, they dont seems to have an idea. But will love to come down to london few days after my arrival, sort out accommodation issh before I finally move in in sept. As I already no Toronto-london is around 2hrs 12min. Sometimes you feel good communicating with your fellow Nigerians in a no-man's land especially when you are still a jjc.

TheCongo2:
Hello Ayoola03, are you moving here as an student or permanent resident?
As for getting to London from the airport in Toronto or Detroit, you can use the RobertQ airbus services.
You may make a reservation online and they will pick you from the airport when you arrived. The cost is $64.22 one way.

https://reservation.robertq.com/airbus/
https://reservation.robertq.com/airbus/Schedule/Toronto

Just to let you know, London has an airport. You may also choose London as a final destination for your trip but it may be more expensive.

My apologies, for some reasons my pm isn't working.

Blackbuddy:
Hi, to be honest, I have not met anyone who lives or works in London, ON in the 2 years I have lived in Ontario so I can't speak to the suitability of that place for new settlers. But that in itself, can give you an inkling that maybe it is not the best place for you as a newcomer as you might not find the sort of support system critical to your early success in settling down.

You might want to first of all land in a city that you may be able to find work opportunities basing your decision on your open internet research and the experience of others who have come here ahead of you. There must be a reason why everyone flocks to the cities that are more talked about and why no one has so far discussed London. If you are led, you may well be the first to go there and then come here to share the experience. My candid opinion, go first where Moses has gone and opened the way and gain some footing then you might later be the Jacob to try a neighboring land.
TheCongo2:
I have been living in London, Ontario since 2009. London is 2 hours west of Toronto(right in the middle of Toronto and Detroit, Michigan). So, you can use either airport for international flights.

London is home of one of the majors universities in Canada, University of Western Ontario. The city is mostly white. I have a colleague from Quebec who is white Canadian who always told me that London is a white capital of Canada. According to her, there are more white people per square inch in London than anywhere else in Canada. I don't know how true this is. However, we have a growing immigrant community. The black community is getting bigger. There are 3 African churches in London, Ontario.

The rate of living is relatively lower in London comparing to that of Toronto. Most of the people I know who have moved to London have been able to purchase their first home (something some people claim would have been difficult to do should have they stay in Montreal or Toronto). Nevertheless, housing in very cheap in London comparing to Toronto.

I have young kids and I find London to be a very nice place to raise kids. There are a number of Africans who have been able to open their own business in London. As far as jobs, I am in IT and have basically been working with the same company ever since I am in London, I wouldn't be able to tell you how easy or difficult it is to find a job here. But, I have seen new comers getting jobs all the time.
Adding to that, the government of Canada has programs that would help new comers to enter the work force.

If you want to move to London, I would say go for it.

If I may ask, what is your field of interest?

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by Ayoola03(f): 2:01pm On Jul 19, 2017
The only issue I can figure out in your application is insufficient fund. Your closing balance can barely takeup your flight ticket not to talk of your living expenses. Like I said in my last post, especially to those msc applicants who are on either full or partial funding, you shouldn't rely on your funding alone to avoid stories that touch, it's always good to fulfill all righteousness and dont leave all stones unturned because your application will be treated same way they will treat a sponsored app (no preferential treatment). This vo are always skeptical about funding either internal or external because they know that most funding do come with conditions that you must meet during the period of your study to maintain your funding and they are not sure if you will be able to always meet up with those conditions. This is why it is good to convince them that you are capable of taking on the responsibilities if at all anything happen to the source of funding along the line by presenting more convincing SOA (your SOA should do the talking) but order for ur gcms note and lets have a proper clarification. Now my humble advise to all msc funding beneficiaries, you are so lucky enough to have gotten funding(I.e full or partial) and it is not by your power but by the grace of God and his mercy. God has played his part and your approval now lies in your hands. Do not take any changes to jeopardise this great opportunity, strive hard to raise money and let the vo's sleeping dog lie. To all that was delayed, nothing good comes easy, don't let it weigh you down. In life, be prepared to fall and rise again but u are not yet a failure until you fall and decides not to rise again. Repackage your app and refire,do not lose hope coz everything is possible. To all trv hopefuls, keep ur hopes alive, never stop praying and u will have the coz to share your testimony soon. And a big congratulations to all trv approvals it will surely end in praise for us all. Gracias!

Abdon01:
I think funding is the main issue here.
My sponsor's account balance is #385,000(with inflow and outflow of 14.8million)

Maybe the #385k too small

Thanks Mr ayoola03.

What i meant is that won't getting Malaysia visa affect my Canadian visa application.

Like if am granted Malaysia visa and got my passport stamped but within the period got Canadian university admission and had to apply for Canadian visa won't the VO ask that why didn't I go to Malaysia for study? Or won't it cause any commotion of any type?

Thanks in anticipation

@yamen21 how far with the current situation on your application, any green light? @justwise please tender justice with mercy, kindly unbanned the newbies I bliv they have learnt their lessons already, they now understand the rules guiyoursing this forum.

I will like to pin-point my observations concerning trv application and also share my view based on personal experience. Please let us endeavour to keep our application simply & precise and avoid submitting too many irrelevant documents. Most times, It amaze me reading how much people complain about the delay in getting response from cic not knowing that in one way or the other,we also contribute to the delay. Have we all forgotten its their duty to verify every single documents you submitted? Have you ever thought of people who didnt present a quatre of what you have submitted yet they got their trv approved in no time. This people take their time to verify the authenticity of every documents submitted( they fear we Nigerians, there is notin we no fit do lol). Sometimes irrelevant documents end up complicating our applications, they tends to dwell more into some docs whc should have been kept encosed. There is no magic behind it, it is simply a logical reasoning.( only phD applicants get a preferential treatment lol coz the vo knows their intentions to study is always genuine and they are so certain that most of them (nt all) will return back home after study even without a convincing note this is why they hardly deny phD applicants). Permit me to take my boss @tuziude and i as an example. I was once anxious and always checking my cic portal for updates every min at the same time, when I remember how many documents I had submitted,I definitely knew my trv wasnt coming so soon, my application took (21weeks) almost 5months. I assume we all saw the documents my boss presented, just imagine how long it would have taken the vo to verify each document which seems like its taking forever. But we thank God it ended in praise. It is not easy my bro and sis cos the waiting period can be so frustrating but We should try as much as possible to screen our documents, make sure the necessary and the important ones are there, also call the attentions of the gurus in the house to help you verify before submitting. Let's watchout for irrelevant documents so as to hasten our trv approval. I wish all trv hopeful best of God, as he have successfully made it easy for us, may he make it easy for all trv hopefuls and intending trv applicants as well.
PS: am not discouraging submitting voluminous documents, Yes there are just few people who did and still got their trv approved within a short period of time. But 1/100 for msc/Meng applicants not even now that all eyes is on Nigerian applicants .it is all for our own good. The choice is yours!

My 2cent......cheers!

To fulfill all righteousness, if it will be convenient for you to show 100% proof of living expenses please do,it doesn't implies you are disregarding your funding, it is always good to assure the VOs that one is capable to take on the expenses that may arise if at all the source of funding fails along the line (especially for msc funding) by presenting a sufficient SOA to back up the application. @fiendishghoal, despite the fact that he is on a full funding, he still presented a SOA of 93M .My brother, never leave all stones unturned, don't give this people any reason to delay you this time around, put in your optimum and leav the rest to God. About the the tuition fee, the VOs understand the fact that not all schools accept tuition fees before registration(except for the ones they just employed like the one that handled my app. Lol). I think letter of assurance from your bank should sort that out. Over to Other gurus in the house smiley

My opinion

Idowu3080:
Hello house,

Please i would like to ask a question. If a funding is received that covered 50% of the livingcost can someone show the remaining 50% or still 100% should be shown n one should disregard the funding.

Also, what of schools that do not accept tuition until after registration for a semester. What could bef done. Thanks.

Thanks for the info @poesy am very much familiar with offcampus listings, I check it on a daily basis just to have an idea of wht i want bt I wont advice you go for wht those guys posted online, I have a friend currently studying in uwo who confirmed that those listings are not real, the pictures you are seeing are not real, most of them are edited pics.it is much more good and safe to get dia and see wht you want to pay for. Even beneath this page, there is a disclaimer clause that reads "the listings on this website have not been inspected by western nor confirm the accuracy of the information provided.it is therefore not recommended or endorsed by uwo. The school further adviced that "do not rent a place sight unseen.(you can read more on the page). Please beware! 419z are everywhr even in canny my bro was once a victim. Exclusive rentals is still the best housing agent in canny, their services is quite impressive. May God help us all

poesy:
Ayoola, and other UWOs, check out this website for off-campus accommodation http://offcampus.uwo.ca/listings/
Also, the school has a service that can help you out and even inspect the houses on your behalf Email them: ocha@has.uwo.ca preferably with your school email.

I would add that the proximity of your department will influence your choice of accommodation.
Thanks to Google maps, you can confirm the walking distance, bus routes and location of other services nearby.

Hello everyone!

Please I need your help.

I am a student in Canada. I got married recently. My husband's application for an Open Work Permit was submitted (online) on April 7th. The application was rejected yesterday.

I am not satisfied that you have sufficient funds, including income or assets, to carry out your stated purpose in
coming to Canada or to maintain yourself while in Canada and to effect your departure.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 200(1) of the
IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.
• I am not satisfied that your spouse can support you until you find employment.

I submitted all necessary documents from my school, his property document and bank statement but the money in my husband's account was not much.

I would like to know how soon we can reapply.
Can my husband show more money in his account as gift from his mum towards the application?
Or should we just get his uncle to show his bank statement and offer to sponsor us?
How can we address all the concerns of the VO in our next application?

Please help us with any information related to this case.

Thanks in advance

Just that I will be sponsored for an msc program for one year with the sum of 30k USD.

Moreover, UWO pays termly and does not generate invoice for the whole year. I even doubt the possibility of having a fall term invoice generated for me in the middle of summer term.

I have Bsc in geology.

4 yrs work experience at a mining company, still working there.

Company support of 1 million when i start studies.

Uncle's support of 30k USD (in words not in action, for visa approval)

NB:
I am not on funding from school as my program is one year course based msc.
I also cannot afford to pay for one term not to talk of the whole year tuition.

I just got some worth of funding from an award I applied for at my intended college. Is there anyways this can be used as a portion of proof of financial support to aid my study permit application. Ps: I already applied for my TRV sometimes in April. I'm only curious
Thanks!
