PoliticsRe: Oyetola Vs Adeleke: Supreme Court Ruling On Osun Governorship Election (Live) by Ayopercent(m): 9:33am On Jul 05, 2019
ejimatic:
.. the entire proceedings and the judgement of the Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal a nullity. I hereby set aside the entire proceedings including the judgement," she ruled.
Justice Sankey also faulted the tribunal's decision to declare the supplementary election as illegal as well as cancelling results of 17 polling units even though Adeleke did not prove over-voting took place.
She said, "The absence of proper ballot accounting in the Forms EC8A in the 17 polling units is not a substantial non-compliance and did not substantially affect the results of the election.
"The only appropriate order is for a rerun election as provided under section 140(2) of the Electoral Act but not to recompute the results of the election and proceed to declare the 1st respondent or any other person the winner of the election.
"The tribunal was in patent error when it set aside the rerun election especially when it found that the conduct of the rerun was not marred by malpractices and non-compliance with the Electoral Act, leading to the unwarranted disenfranchisement of the voters in the seven polling units."
Justices Abubakar Yahaya , Isaiah Akeju , and
Bitrus Sanga , agreed with Justice Sankey's. ....... The above except from the appeal court judgement sets a stage for the judgement at the supreme court on Friday. Arising questions are :Will the supreme court overrule itself? will the supreme court contradict itself? Will supreme court expunge section 140 and 250 of the constitution? Will supreme court set aside previous judgements on rerun elections and absence of the justice even in a day during hearing? Will the Supreme court not confirm Oyetola on Friday? Will the supreme court order rerun election in 17 polling units and 7polling units where rerun took place? Will the supreme court say constitution and electoral laws are not related again? Will the Supreme court overrule all its precedents relating to Osun election? The final decision is in the hand of CJN Tanko Mohammed and his team.As for me my personal opinion without reservation to anybody or any aggrieved individual or group is: The Supreme court will confirm Oyetola as governor or order a rerun in 17 contested poling units and 7 polling units where rerun took place.
Can you pls cite some of the Supreme Court judgements that are related to this Osun state election matter.

Below is a tweet by WAEC about issuing Attestation of results for MISSING or LOST certificates.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DrBBCAOWoAAPmLQ.jpg

On the debate about issuing Buhari an attestation of result;

1.It is on record that the military claimed not to have Buhari's certificate in 2015.
https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/175303-dont-buharis-original-certificates-nigerian-army.html

2. It is on record the military claimed to have lost the certificate just few days ago.
https://guardian.ng/news/military-have-lost-buharis-certificates-presidency-claims/

Either of this claims is a VALID reason to be issued anattestation, provided there is a record that Buhari sat for the exams. Going by both statements issued by the military, it is Evident that the certificate is either MISSING or LOST

What is required by Law in Nigeria is an affidavit to be sworn to that effect.

Is there an affidavit? Yes there is one...

If ordinary citizens like you and I can get an attestation for a missing certificate....

Why cant the president get one?

Osun people still prefer social infracsture to stomach infrastructure.Aregbesola has a lot of works to his credit. Granted like about 27 states in Nigeria there is a salary crisis in Osun .However apart from Lagos no other state has witnessed development in the last 8 years like Osun. The victory is sure for the APC in the election. The question is how will the victory come? Apc will will in osun central .it will also have votes in osun west which has been divided by opposition. Apc will win in six ilesa local governments. Ife central will vote Omisore but the party will still have vote there. Ife south and north will go for APC but ife east will be shared by the APC and SDP because modakeke people will not vote omisore.. In view of this. APC will still have majority votes and win the election
You said it all.God bless you.

Gate crashers should go to the venue with their

A hint though from my experience as a
gatecrasher, ATTENDANCE at coordination classes
is necessary (3 days).
Normally, parcels are issued to those who attend
the coordination classes, but Chief and Team
leaders can be funny, by keeping parcels for invited
examiners who do not attend the 3 days
coordination. So, "shine your eyes".
Note that some marking venues "MAY" issue out
parcels to examiners when they are done with the
coordination for that day.

Rossikki:
NIGERIAN STEEL INDUSTTY ROARS BACK TO LIFE

https://resize.indiatvnews.com/en/centered/oldbucket/750_533/businessindia/IndiaTv17f390_steel.jpg

Business Day
JULY 19TH, 2017

Privately owned steel companies are pumping billions of naira into building new plants, as the need for housing, road and bridge construction expands in the country. This is despite the fact the Federal Government has not been able to revive the Ajaokuta Steel Company years after it was built in 1979.

“We have invested $500 million in Nigeria. We believe that the steel sector is the backbone of any major economy in the world. Without steel, there cannot be any other industry in the real sector of any economy,” said Raj Gupta, chairman of African Industries Limited, which has 12 subsidiaries, including African Steel Mills, Ikorodu Steel Mills, African Foundries, and Abuja Steel Mills.

Similarly, Aarti Steel Nigeria Limited, one of the biggest steel mills in Nigeria, has completed a cold-rolled mill in Ota, Ogun State, with capacity to produce 120,000 tonnes of steel products per annum.

The steel maker spent about N300 billion to complete the mill in March this year. The mill is expected to serve the downstream steel makers in Nigeria, using cold-rolled steel products for the production of home appliances, roofing sheets, metal furniture and filing cabinets, tables and chairs, among others.

“The mill just started in March and it is now fully stabilised. It is producing already. It is a big investment and it will also be good for the Nigerian economy,” Aniket Singal, Aarti Group’s vice chairman, told BusinessDay in Lagos.

Singal said Aarti is already exporting steel to West African countries such as Togo and Mali and is expanding to Central Africa, Ivory Coast, Benin and other parts of the continent, in order to earn more foreign exchange for the Nigerian economy.

Nigeria, Africa’s biggest economy, spends about $3.3 billion on steel imports every year. Eighteen of the 30 steel manufacturers in Nigeria produce about 2.2 million tons a year, with scraps and billets imported mainly from China.

An average of steel products such as standard plates, hot-rolled coil, cold-rolled coil and rebar is $464.7 using Chinese prices, which means Nigeria imports roughly 7.1 million metric tonnes of steel annually.

Steel makers, made up of players in the basic metal, iron and steel and fabricated metal, invested N202.97 billion in the second half of 2016 as against N37.05 billion in the first half.

The sector pumped N1.69 trillion into the Nigerian economy from 2013 to 2015, said the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN).

Already, Standard Metallurgical Company Limited (SMC) is set to launch a billet mill to produce standard wire rods in Nigeria. The mill will likely create 1,000 jobs in the country.

“This will be the first factory to produce billet suitable for producing standard wire rods in Nigeria. All wire rods produced today in Nigeria are being made from imported billets, but in three months from now, we are going to start producing billets in Nigeria,” Mohammed Saade, managing director, SMC, told BusinessDay.

“Currently, we are producing 300,000 tonnes of wire rods per year. With phase two, we would produce 260,000 tons of billets in Nigeria. Nigeria today is a big market and we are committed to meeting local demands and the surplus can go to the ECOWAS market,” he said.

Qualitec Industries Limited is investing up to N100 billion in Ogun State, according to Oluyinka Kufile, CEO of the firm, who is also the chairman, Basic Metal, Iron and Steel Group of MAN.

A steel company, HongXing Steel Company Limited pledged to pump $100 million in plants and machinery in Nigeria last year.

All these steel plants are mere steel recycling plants... we really need to exploit the iron ore base of the nation.
