Health6 Body Parts You Should Wash Properly And Regularly by Azeemokoya(op): 9:34am On May 14, 2023
The importance of maintaining proper hygiene for overall health and well-being cannot be overemphasized.
Poor hygiene can lead to a range of health problems, including skin infections, respiratory infections, gastrointestinal infections.

Here are five body parts that should be washed properly:

1. Hands

Your hands, particularly around the nails and in between the fingers, come into contact with numerous surfaces and objects throughout the day, making them a breeding ground for germs. Washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is crucial to prevent the spread of germs and illnesses.

2. Face

Washing your face is an important step in maintaining healthy skin. It helps to remove dirt, oil, and dead skin cells that can clog your pores and cause acne and other skin problems. Use a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water to avoid stripping your skin of its natural oils.

EducationNRTC English: ‘themselves’ Is Different From ‘one Another’ by Azeemokoya(op): 7:01pm On May 12, 2023
Other things being equal, if you look in a mirror, you’re going to see yourself–your reflection. That’s the idea about reflexive pronouns. Reflexive pronouns end in -self or -selves depending on whether they’re singular (-self) or plural (-selves).

Reflexive pronouns are myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, yourselves and themselves. They refer back to a person or thing mentioned earlier. We often use reflexive pronouns when the performer of an action is also the receiver.

Let’s look at these examples:

I cut myself when I was making dinner last night.
I hope you enjoy yourselves at the party tonight!
My phone isn’t working properly. It turns itself off for no reason.
We need to believe in ourselves more.
Therefore, you cannot say ‘the politicians in Nigeria love themselves’ to mean ‘the politicians in Nigeria love one another. In the first example, ‘themselves’ is a reflexive pronoun which means each politician loves himself/herself. While in the second example, ‘one another’ is a reciprocal pronoun which means politician A loves politicians B – Z, and in the same vein politicians B – Z love politicians A – Z. But you and I know this is not the case in Nigeria.

EducationDo These 2 Things After Seeing Your JAMB Result, Whether High Or Low by Azeemokoya(op): 5:04pm On May 11, 2023
Now that JAMB has released 2023 UTME results, and whether you score (very) high or (very) low, it may not matter much; what matters is getting admission to your preferred choice of institution and desired course of study. People celebrate admission, not JAMB scores. And your JAMB score does not matter after you have got admission.

Here are 2 things you can do to get admission this year
Whether you score very high, say 300+ or your score is moderate, like 250-280+, or even very low like 150, you may need to start making plans on how you can get admission now.

1. Find an alternative course of study
Why does this matter? If your score is low, you may need to consider changing your course to a less competitive course. But ensure that it is a course that is closely related to your initial course. You may want to change your course later. It is also important to check if the course is accredited in the school.

Besides, there are state universities that accept UTME results below 200 for a seemingly better course. Over the years, I have seen students gain admission with 183, 194, 187 etc to good state universities. It might not be their preferred course, but it is something very close to what they love.

EducationYour University Degree Is As Important As These Five People by Azeemokoya(op): 10:47am On May 10, 2023
In school, when it comes to personal and professional development, there are many people who can be just as important, if not more important, than your university degree.

Mentors
A mentor is someone who has been there, done that, and is knowledgeable and experienced in the field you want to venture in. He can feed you with valuable career insight, provide guidance and support that you need for your career success.

A mentor can offer advice, provide feedback, and help you navigate challenges and opportunities.

Coaches
The difference between a mentor and a coach is that a coach works one-on-one with you for a particular event or goal, whereas a mentor mentors you over an extended period in a coaching relationship.

There are specific areas a coach works with you, like being a life coach, career coach, business coach, or relationship coach, and this work is usually short-term because it is goal-oriented. Once you achieve the goal, his work is done.

SportsHe Best 15 Managers In Premier League History by Azeemokoya(op): 4:07pm On May 06, 2023
This article was inspired by Sam Allardyce’s recent comment claiming that there are no current Premier League managers ahead of him. According to the former Bolton Wanderers boss; “Not Pep, not Klopp and not even Arteta.” Is Big Sam Right?

The English Premier League is arguably the best league in the world and there have been some world class managers over the years who have blazed the trail of the English game since the inception of the Premier League in 1992.

In this extensively researched article, I will be highlighting the best 15 managers to have graced the English Premier League. Taking into consideration the budget the managers had at their disposal. Readers therefore need to bear in mind that I have factored in the fact that some managers had more money to spend than others.

1. Sir Alex Fergusson

The first manager on this list is obviously former Manchester United iconic manager, Sir Alex Ferguson who I think also ranks as one of the greatest managers of all time in world football. It is really hard to put anyone ahead of Sir Alex who won the first ever Premier League trophy in 1993 and showed immediately that he wanted to dominate it. Which he did by winning 13 Premier League titles which is 62% of the title races he was involved with.

2. Arsene Wenger

The second manager on this list is the former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger who when you think of the budget he had compared to his rivals like Fergusson and Mourinho – then you will understand how great a manager the French man was. He also helped to transformed the English game with modern ideas and playing style that was a delight to watch which helped sell the Premier league which was mostly ridiculed for it’s ‘kick and follow’ style previously.]

EducationNRTC English: The Letter ‘t’ Isn’t Pronounced In Debut, Sachet, Depot, Chalet, R by Azeemokoya(op): 12:54pm On May 05, 2023
If it is easy to say rapport /ræ’pɔːr/ without the ‘t’ sounding, then you can pronounce words like depot /ˈdep.əʊ/ and debut /ˈdeɪ.bju/. Pronounce depot just like ghetto, and debut like fable – except that the second syllable in debut sounds like the way you pronounce ‘you‘. Never pronounce the letter ‘t’.

Rapport is a close and harmonious relationship in which the people or groups concerned understand each other’s feelings or ideas and communicate well. For example, she was able to establish a good rapport with the children.

It is important to note that many words in English that are derived from French (like depot /ˈdep.əʊ/, sachet /ˈsæʃ.eɪ/, rapport /ræpˈɔːr/, debut /ˈdeɪ.bju/, chalet /ˈʃæl.eɪ/, ballet /ˈbæl.eɪ/, sachet /ˈsæʃ.eɪ/, bouquet /buˈkeɪ/, depot /ˈdep.əʊ/, mortgage /ˈmɔː.ɡɪdʒ/, etc.) have the silent letter t.

There’s a simple logic behind this. In French, the last consonants in many words are not pronounced.

Education4 Types Of Jobs You Should Be Seeking by Azeemokoya(op): 2:10pm On May 01, 2023
While looking for a job, you should be strategic. A creative job search requires that you know which type of jobs is suitable for your career growth or personal development. Before you accept any job offer, you should give it a lot of thought so that you know what you are getting yourself into.

1. Jobs that will expose you to skills acquisition
In this job, you can leverage the tools and opportunities in the company to acquire a skill. It may be a skill that you consider necessary for your future career, or a skill you want to hone. This type of job is what every young professional just starting out must consider taking.

2. Jobs that just get you busy
It is true that the essence of getting a job is to be able to pay one’s bill. However, this job may not pay all your bills. It can only get you out of your house and probably away from worry or depression. You know the popular saying: an idle mind is the devil’s playground. This means that people who have nothing worthwhile to think about will usually think of something bad to do.

While at this type of job, you must find a hobby that you can translate into a money-making venture. It is also advisable you begin to learn a new skill so that you can get a job that comfortably pays all your bills.

HealthNigerians: A Resilient People Thriving On Hope by Azeemokoya(op): 10:59pm On Apr 30, 2023
Nigerians are known to be one of the happiest people in the world. And happiness is our trademark despite the challenges that surrounds us.

The many owambes on Saturdays for a Nigerian helps to ease the stress of the hustle. However, it does seem like the thick skin developed by Nigerians over the years is beginning to wear off gradually.

In the times of Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Anthony Enahoro, Tafawa Balewa, and many other founding fathers of our great nation, morality was worn like a badge of honour.

In those days, it was despicable to flaunt ill gotten wealth. There was dignity of labour. Good values and respect for law and order thrived above lawlessness.

This is not a tale of our leaders not showing good examples. Here, we are dissecting what we presume to be wrong and should be eschewed greatly. It is sad to see how much we have lost some of our good values over the years.

There was a time our culture was our identity. The society bragged about standing for the right thing without batting an eyelid.

EducationHow To Leverage NYSC To Drastically Increase Your Employability And Land Your Dr by Azeemokoya(op): 1:11pm On Apr 30, 2023
Many a graduate believes that NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) is a waste of time and one year of their life. But this is not true. Although one of the main objectives of NYSC according to the Federal Government is to promote national unity and integration, it is also imperative that a graduate has their own objectives.

How can I make a good use of my NYSC?
Before NYSC, you need to ask yourself what you want to make out of it and what the labour market considers as values or components of employability (which are essentially knowledge, skills, and work experience). It is also important you find out the industry where you want to work after NYSC and also the skills the employers want, and do everything humanly possible to journey in that direction.

These days, graduate employers are not just looking for a good degree. They are more interested in skills, work experience and how much value you can add to their company.

Polytechnic students under The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) have given the President, Major General Muhammadu (retd.), 14 working days to end the dichotomy between the Higher National Diploma and Bachelor of Science holders by assenting to the HND/BSC Dichotomy bill.

The Senate arm of the students’ union gave the president this 14-day ultimatum on Monday in a statement signed by its Deputy Senate President, Comrade Adeniji Boluwaji Temitope.

It would be recalled that the 9th National Assembly has long passed a bill for an Act to abolish and prohibit the dichotomy and discrimination between First Degree and Higher National Diploma; however, President Buhari has failed to assent to the bill.

“It is no more news that Nigerian polytechnic students and polytechnic graduates have been facing difficulties of dichotomy for the past years, in which the stakeholders in polytechnic education sector have put so much pressure and resources on the 9th National Assembly to pass the Bill for an Act to abolish and prohibit dichotomy and discrimination between first degree and Higher National Diploma, the 9th National Assembly has done a very good job by passing the Bill but the President Assent to make it a law has not be assented,” the union stated.

CelebritiesAchraf Hakimi & Hiba Abouk: What Is Marriage Without Trust? by Azeemokoya(op): 12:43pm On Apr 15, 2023
Hiba Abouk’s seeking divorce with Achraf Hakimi made the headlines after it was reported that a 24-year-old woman filed a complaint against the Paris Saint-Germain full-back over a rape allegation.

Prior to the reported rape case, Hakimi and his Tunisian wife have been estranged for some time and have been working towards separating legally.

So, contrary to what most people opine on social media, it is not necessarily the age gap that brings about the break in trust, nor is it what pushed his mother to protect his assets for him, as most people believe.

Trust is a sacred ingredient in marriage, and when abused, every human being has the rights to leave that marriage. If the reason Hakimi’s wife filed for divorce is based on infidelity or any other associated case, this is a justifiable reason.

And in the same vein, one must not ignore that she has the rights to demand for alimony and child support. Without women’s free labour (house chores, birthing, raising kids, and all emotional and physical labour) the marriage institution will collapse.

However, this is not an excuse for women to hinge their hopes on their husband’s assets. The situation between Hakimi and his wife portrays two lessons: first, know who you are getting married to and, secondly, why you are even getting married in the first place. And if there is another lesson, it must be that women must financially empower themselves...

PoliticsAdesina Praises Buhari For Leaving Country In Better Condition by Azeemokoya(op): 7:15am On Apr 11, 2023
President Muhammadu Buhari has done his best in tackling Nigeria’s multifarious security challenges since he assumed office in May 2015 and he is leaving the country “far better” than he met it.

Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina stated this on Monday as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

Confronted with verifiable data that between May 2015 and May 2022, over 55,000 Nigerians were killed by terrorists, bandits, and armed gangs, Adesina said President Buhari has left the security situation of the country better than he met them in 2015.

“The figure has been coming down progressively over the years and it’s a fact of history. Nobody can change it,” he said.

Asked whether the situation has improved, he said, “far better”.

“In 2015, we knew where Nigeria was. Minimum of 17 local governments in this country was under the control of insurgents.

“Talking of control, I mean they were sitting in emir palaces, they sitting in the seats of the local government chairmen. NYSC could not even do orientation; they could not even post people to those places.
