Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, known as Hilda Baci, has received her award Guinness World Record plaque for marathon cooking.

Baci, the Guinness World Record holder for marathon cooking by an individual, revealed this on her Instagram story on Monday.

She received the award plaque in a white packaged box which was delivered by a dispatch rider.

Nigeria, India, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo top the list of nations with the highest levels of poverty and pollution exposure, according to a recent research from the World Bank.

Trillions of dollars being thrown away on subsidies for agriculture, fishing, and fossil fuels when they could be utilised to combat climate change, according to the report “Detox Development: Repurposing Environmentally Harmful Subsidies.”

According to the report, there are about 716 million poor people in areas with unsafe levels of air pollution.

The report read in part, “Low- and middle-income countries account for 80 per cent of people exposed to unsafe levels of PM. Moreover, 716 million poor people (living on under US$1.90 per day) live in areas with unsafe levels of air pollution.”

It added that about half of this population is in India, Nigeria and Congo.

Last Man Standing is a movie based on the biography of the president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Hilda in May 2023 became a sensation when she cooked for 100 hours (approximately 4 days) in Lagos state, Nigeria.

Weeks after she engaged in the culinary contest she dubbed, Cook-A-Thon, the Nigerian chef mentioned that she is yet to receive a feedback from Guinness World Records.

Nigerian skitmaker, Sabinus whose real name is Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu has explained why he prefers not to promote nudity with his content.

Sabinus is renowned as one of the most popular comedians and skitmaker in Nigerian entertainment industry.

The comedian spoke at the SMFest in Owerri, the Imo State Capital.

According to him, he doesn’t allow nudity in his skits because his aim is to create family content.

Bimbo Ademoye, the winner of the ‘Best Actress in a Comedy’ at the just-concluded Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), has presented her father the award plaque.

Recall that NRTC reported she won the annual accolade award presented by MultiChoice in recognition of outstanding achievement in television and film on Saturday for her role in “Selina”

The actress on her Instagram page on Sunday shared a video of herself presenting the award to her father.

She said her daddy took her to her first audition and waited for six hours till she was done, saying there are many people to appreciate apart from her father.

She wrote, “I went back home to give the award to my award . My biggest supporter, my rock, my backbone. My Father . Met his absence , but I knew exactly where he’d be. He loves chilling with the boys in the hood when he’s less busy on Sunday.

15 – 21 May 2023 marks Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK and the theme for this year is anxiety.

Anxiety is a normal emotion for all of us. But, for many, it can get out of control and become a significant mental health problem. We all feel anxious from time to time. Anxiety is a natural response to the uncertain world around us. For example, in the current cost-of-living crisis, more than a third of adults feel anxious about their financial situation. But it’s important that we recognise and respond when we feel anxious, so that our anxiety doesn’t become overwhelming.

This week, NRTC would like for our readers and social media community to reflect on the past year. Particularly on how it may have impacted on your mental health. This week provides an opportunity to reflect and talk openly about mental health in general; and the struggles you may be facing.

Stigma in the Black Community
Unfortunately, there is still a stigma in the Black community against speaking about mental health. It is important to overcome this stigma, in order to access appropriate treatment and services.
