Ghanaian actress, Efia Odo has stated that ugly men treat women better.

In a recent interview session on Ebitz Show, the actress admitted that she has dated some ugly men in the past but added that they had money because “one can’t be ugly with no money” at same time.

Efia further explained how she wants to be approached for possible romantic relationships.

She said;

Reality TV star, Tolani Shobajo, popularly known as Tolani Baj or TBaj, has said men should not be blamed for cheating on their partners.

The disc jockey[DJ] shared her thoughts on whether cheating men should be castigated on her Twitter handle.

The former BBNaija “Lock Down” housemate said there are countless beautiful women outnumbering men in the world, noting that men who have affairs with more than one woman should not be berated.

In spite of growing security concerns, a pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has restated the need for the forthcoming general elections to be held as scheduled.

The National Publicity Secretary, Afenifere, Jare Ajayi, made the call in a statement on Tuesday, in response to a warning by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the light of mounting concerns around the spate of insecurity across the country.

“But we feel that there is the need to let anyone thinking of postponement or cancellation of the elections that such a thing is and will remain unacceptable, no matter the reason,” the Afenifere statement reads in part.

“We recall that in 2015, there was insecurity too to the extent that some local government areas, specifically in Borno State, were in the hands of Boko Haram terrorists. Yet elections were held. There also was insecurity in 2019 and elections were not stopped.

Veteran Nigerian music producer, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has revealed that he can not marry a troublemaker as a wife.

The founder and the CEO of Mavin Records said he cherishes women who are calm and understanding.

He stated this in an interview with Honest Bunch Podcast with the title “Marriage: A poverty alleviation scheme” which he shared on Tuesday via his Instagram account.

When asked by the host what would make him stay with a lady long enough to marry her, he declared that he does not want a troublemaker, who would pick a fight all the time.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has alleged that the National Assembly is under pressure to pass the budget of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), not to develop the region, but to raise funds for this year’s elections.

Governor Wike spoke on Monday when delegations from media houses visited him at the Government House in Port Harcourt to present letters of nomination as the Leadership Politician of the Year 2022 and the Sun Courage in Leadership Award 2022.

The Governor described the five hundred (500) billion naira budget proposal of the commission as a fraud, quarrying the importance of some of its provisions.

He said it is irrelevant for the NDDC to propose a whopping sum of four (4) Billion Naira for the desilting of drainages and another sixty (60) billion naira for security agencies.

Governor Wike wondered why a commission that “has not completed one road in one year”, despite being established to develop key infrastructures in the Niger Delta region, is allocating such an amount of money to clean drainages and build structures for security agencies.

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has vowed to end kidnapping and insecurity in Nigeria if elected president in the forthcoming February 25 election.

“There will be an end to killing and kidnapping,” Tinubu made this vow at the APC campaign rally in Yola, the Adamawa state capital on Monday.

Tinubu also promised to provide jobs for youths, and facilitate adequate healthcare, and good education amongst other “benefits of progress” if elected.

Bendel Insurance shocked Akwa United with a resounding 2-0 victory in Uyo as the new Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) kick-started on Sunday.

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has imposed 24-hour curfew on Ikare Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko North-East Local Government, following the escalated violent clash in the town since Tuesday which has continued unabated.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, the curfew which is with immediate effect was reached at the State Security Council meeting chaired by the governor.

According to the statement, the governor frowned at the continuation of the violence despite the meeting held by the Government and the Olukare of Ikare, Oba Akadiri Momoh and Owa Ale of Iyometa, Oba Adeleke Adegbite to rein-in their subjects.

A political economist, Prof Pat Utomi says the exchange rate of the naira to the dollar may go above $1 to N1,000 if some “dramatic” measures are not taken by the Federal Government on Nigeria’s fiscal and economic policies.

He also said the ways and means funding option of the Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has become a routine violation of fiscal responsibility laws.

“If you continue to generate or create money without creating value, the consequence is inflation and exchange rate will be collapsing, and will just multiply,” Utomi said on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Wednesday.

Nigeria’s inflation rate as of the end of November 2022 is 21.47%. At the Investors and Exporters (I&E) window of the foreign exchange market, $1 exchanges for N450.03 as of January 4, 2023, while a single dollar goes for over N700 in the parallel market.

However, Utomi said unless some dramatic economic steps are taken, a single naira may exchange for over N1,000.

The former two-time heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua has revealed that he would like to go into acting once he is done with boxing.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi as his preferred contestant for the 2023 general elections.

In his 2023 New Year message personally signed by the ex-President and issued by his spokesman, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo described Obi as his mentee and said the former Anambra State Governor has an edge in the February 25, 2023 election.

President Muhammadu Buhari has charged Nigerians to resist attempts by politicians to disrupt the 2023 general elections.

The President in his new year message also urged the citizens to play their part in ensuring that next year’s general elections are free, fair, and credible.

“We must also resist every attempt to be used by politicians to create unrest in any form to disrupt the elections. We, as the government will ensure such activities are met with the full force of the law,” the President said in a statement issued by his media aide, Garba Shehu.

The Senate rejected President Muhammadu Buhari’s proposal to restructure the N22.7 trillion in Ways and Means advances that the Federal Government had obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria on Wednesday.

Following a commotion in the Senate over the issue, the lawmakers rejected the request.

Buhari had requested in a letter read aloud on the Senate floor last Wednesday that the N22.7 trillion in ways and means advances that had been obtained from the CBN over the previous ten years be restructured in addition to the N1 trillion that would be obtained as a new domestic loan.

In the letter, he listed the Federal Government’s ways and means as advances from the Central Bank of Nigeria for emergency funding of postponed receipt of budgetary shortfalls.

However, issues arose when Solomon Adeola (APC Lagos West), the committee’s chairman, was asked to deliver a report on it.

The Senate leadership tried to acquire the finance committee’s report, which had recommended that the president’s request be granted, but certain senators quickly voiced their opposition.

The first senator to speak out against it was Senator Betty Apiafi (PDP, Rivers), who used the constitutional point of order to claim that the Nigerian constitution is unaware of the manner and means of expenditure.

However, she was declared out of order by Senate President Ahmad Lawan for allowing the report to be delivered before objecting to it.

Born Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Brazil football legend Pelé has died at the age of 82.

Pelé was widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time. He remains the only man to have won the World Cup on three separate occasions.

He helped Brazil to World Cup glory at the 1958, 1962 and 1970 tournaments. The football legend also won the Golden Ball for best player at the latter.

At the 1958 World Cup, the then-17-year-old emerged the youngest player to appear at a men’s World Cup. This beautiful record was later broken by Northern Ireland’s Norman Whiteside.

Pelé was recorded to have scored 1,283 times in 1,363 senior appearances for clubs and country during his 21-year football career. This number has been a subject of controversy however as it included tour matches and unofficial friendly games.

During his illustrious career, Pelé won six Campeonato Brasileiro Série A titles with Brazilian club, Santos. He also claimed two Copa Libertadores trophies, as well as two Intercontinental Cups and one Intercontinental Supercup.

The legend went on to play in the United States, featuring for New York Cosmos. He was an instrumental part of the team as they won the North American Soccer League (NASL) in 1977.

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore has said the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in the 2023 general elections will not address Nigeria’s perennial problem of election rigging.

He also said the current insecurity in the country poses a great threat to free and fair elections next year as all the regions in the country have peculiar security challenges.

Sowore stated this on Friday while speaking in an interview with Politics Hub, a Vanguard Online TV’s political show.

The AAC presidential candidate, during the interview, explained to the anchor of the TV show, Damilola Ogunsakin that the Osun State governorship election in June was ravaged by over-voting despite the usage of BVAS.

He said, “No, I do not expect a free and fair election. It’s not the equipment that organises free and fair elections, it’s the personnel that are involved in organising elections. In the case of 2023, it (the fault) started by putting in place an INEC leadership, at the federal level, federal commissioners of people who are card-carrying members of the ruling party.”

Ahead of the February 2023 elections, the Presidency on Wednesday said President Muhammadu Buhari was ready to campaign for the presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu, and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress with “full energy and conviction.”

Doyin Okupe has resigned as the Campaign Director-General of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.

In a letter addressed to the LP presidential candidate on Tuesday, Okupe said it is better not to allow his personal interest distract the campaign of Obi and that of the party, hence his decision to step aside.

“Dear Peter, you will recall that I briefed you yesterday about my travails in seeking justice and clearing my name using the Nigerian Legal System to pursue same,” the letter read in part.

“I have invested too much in your campaign to allow my personal travails to become a source of distraction.

“In the circumstances, I have opted to step aside and plead that you appoint a new Campaign DG who can continue the assignment with zero distractions. God bless you and family.”

Okupe’s resignation followed a judgement by the Federal High Court in Abuja which found him guilty of receiving over N200 million cash from former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday defended a fight-for-power comment made by its 2023 presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu in a viral video.

A member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Ayo Oyalowo said people deliberately twisted what Tinubu said in the video, noting that the APC presidential candidate is a promoter of peace and not violence.

“Political power is not going to be served in a restaurant. It is not served à la carte. It is being determined to do it at all cost, fight for it, grab it, snatch it,” Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, reportedly told some APC members in the viral video.

Oyalowo on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Monday said Tinubu’s statement does not in any way promote political violence.

“The candidate said power is not served à la carte, you must fight for it. How does it mean to fight for it? Fight for it means to go to every nook and cranny, say what you need to say, push the right buttons, speak with people and that is what he (Tinubu) has been doing,” the APC chieftain explained.

However, Daniel Bwala, a spokesman for the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar said Tinubu’s comment is undemocratic.

The Federal Government has countered the claim by former Twitter staff that the microblogging platform did not negotiate with Nigeria before it was allowed to resume operations in the country after its suspension.

The Federal Government of Nigeria, on June 4, 2021, suspended Twitter operations in the country following the micro-blogging site’s persistent use of activities that were capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.

Contrary to the claim by the former Twitter worker, the Minister said, “Seven days after the suspension, precisely on June 11, 2021, we received a letter, addressed to Mr President, from Twitter’s Vice President in charge of Public Policy, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Sinead McSweeney, seeking to meet with us on the Twitter suspension.

Since 18 November, the world’s attention has turned to middle east nation Qatar where the biggest football tournament has been taking place.

Azzedine Ounahi (Morocco)
Atlas Lions midfielder Azzedine Ounahi caught an unknown figure when the 2022 World Cup began but he has quick turned out to be one of the breakout players of the tournament.

Still 22, Ounahi was instrumental to Morocco’s historic semifinal birth. He helped his side eliminate both Spain (last 16) and Portugal (quarter final) en route becoming the first ever African nation to reach the last four of the World Cup.

His all-round, indefatigable displays in Qatar have not gone unnoticed. He clocked 14.7km against Spain, more than any other player. Also, no team-mate had more dribbles (three) or won more duels (seven) in the last eight encounter against Portugal.

Barcelona are reportedly monitoring the player who currently plays for Ligue 1 side Angers.

Enzo Fernández (Argentina)
The 21-year-old Benfica central midfielder has been a revelation at this year’s World Cup.

Fernández has not started a game for Albiceleste prior to the World Cup. However, he has been a brilliant performer for the Argentine team.

His fantastic curling effort in the second group game victory over Mexico was one that wowed fans. The goal sealed victory in a very vital encounter after Argentina were stunned by Saudi Arabia in their opening game.

In the last four victory over Croatia, Fernández made more tackles (four) than any other player on the pitch. He also made 62 passes, a joint-high for Argentina, alongside captain Lionel Messi.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has claimed that the state is one of the most peaceful states in the country.

Makinde made this disclosure on Wednesday.

He spoke while receiving members of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Ogbomoso Governing Council in Ibadan, the state capital.

The institution located in the Ogbomoso geo-political zone of the state is one of the federal polytechnics established recently by the federal government.

The governor while receiving members of the governing council led by Professor Dakas James, said that contrary to insinuations, Oyo state is one of the most peaceful states in the country.

He said that the new institution will operate in a safe and secure environment.

Makinde said, “Let me also say this without any fear of contradiction that Oyo is one of the safest states in Nigeria.

Fashola has revealed that the Federal Government says construction work on the East-West road will gulp N200 billion, including N13 billion on the failed Eleme axis of the road.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola said this on Wednesday during a visit to Rivers State to assess the state of work on the 38km Bodo-Bonny link road under construction by Julius Berger.

Fashola expressed satisfaction at the speed and quality of work going on. He explained that funding for the N200 billion project was under of a tax credit scheme arrangement between the Federal Government and Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas NLNG, though it was a full government project.

“We are trying to connect two communities of Rivers, Bodo on the mainland and Bonny on the island. And it’s instructive to point out because I hear some comments that the Federal Government is not doing anything in Rivers.

“Bodo and Bonny are parts of Rivers. This is an investment of N200 billion in one state. But money is not as important as its long-term significance. So, when you talk about poverty and you see a report about 133 million people in poverty, yes, those are the problems, but what are the solutions? This is one of the solutions.
