babs787:The above Dua is mentioned in the Quran (Surah Al-e-Imran, Verse 173): "Hasbunallahu wa ni`mal Wakil'' حَسۡبُنَا ٱللَّهُ وَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡوَڪِيلُ [Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us).]'' (3:173) It was the Dua made by Prophet Ibrahim(as) while thrown to the fire by idol worshipers and also by Prophet Muhammad (saw) during the battle of Uhud while under attack by idolators. We should frequent this Dua while facing troubles. |
“Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that “Alif, Laam, Meem” is a letter, rather I am saying that “Alif” is a letter, “laam” is a letter and “meem” is a letter.” So increase your recitation of the Qur’an to gain these merits, and to gain the following merit as well." [At-Tirmithee ] |
Yes ofcourse you can. But there is special reward for saying it in Arabic as it is from the Quran. Its mentioned in the hadith. Also in the english sentence "In the name of Allah, most gracious, most compassionate" contains only one of Allah's name. In 'Bismillahi-rrehmaan-ir-raheem' there are included the names 'rahmaan' and 'raheem'. Gracious and compassionate are just translation and will not suffice for the actual words. Just like 'Azhar' means light in english. If you call me light i wont respond will I. |
@ify Here is a small lesson for you which will bring you large benifits. Before starting to anything good say 'Bismillahi-rrehmaan-ir-raheem' meaning: "In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Compassionate". Whether you are about to start eating, or starting on a journey, getting back inside the house or while giving charity or while opening any book to read or starting to do any matter say Bismillahi rehmanirraheem. We should always intend to do things for the sake of Allah. Only with intention we get benefit for our deeds. I hope you can make this a habit InshAllah. Listen to this video if you have doubts in correct pronunciation. [flash=640,390] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZ_gVZzuxHw?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0[/flash] We all know about this but we seldom practice it. InshAllah we should try to make it a habit. |
Few opinions with regard to the meaning of sincere devotion [ikhlas]. For instance, it was al-Hasan [al-Basri] (may Allah bestow His mercy upon him) who said: "I asked Hudhaifa (Ra): 'What is meant by sincere devotion [ikhlas]?' He replied: 'I once asked the Prophet (Saw): "What is meant by sincere devotion [ikhlas]?" He(Prophet Saw) replied :" 'I once asked Gabriel (As): "What is meant by sincere devotion [ikhlas]?" He(Gabriel) replied: "I once asked the Lord of Might and Glory [Rabb al-'Izza] (Majestic and Exalted is He): 'What is meant by sincere devotion [ikhlas]?' So Allah told me : 'It is a secret, a part of My secret knowledge [sirr min Sirri], which I entrust to the heart of anyone I love among My servants.' |
mukina2:: ) I hope we all can put this into practice. InshAllah. |
Sayyidina Abu Huraira (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “A Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand (other) Muslims are safe and a believer is one from whom the people are safe over their lives and their properties.” And it is reported from the Prophet (SAW) that he was asked, “Which Muslim is the most excellent?” He said, “He from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe.” [Ahmed 8940,Nisai 5005] |

Jazakumullahu Khairan. Such reminders send shivers through our spine. We have no idea how much we ve insulted others. All depends on the mercy of Allah the most merciful. May Allah the most merciful forgive us from all our sins and make it easy for us in the day of Resurrection. Ameen. |
"A calamity that makes you turn to Allah is better for you than a blessing which makes you forget the remembrance of Allah." (Ibn Taymiyah) |
It is reported that, Messenger (SAW) said: "Seek carefully what benefits you (in the Hereafter) and seek help only from Allah and neither lose heart. If any adversity (misfortune) comes to you don't say: 'If I had only acted in such and such way, it would have been such and such' but instead say: 'Allah has decreed it and what He willed is done.' Verily 'If'opens the way for the work of Satan." [Muslim & Kitab At-Tauhid Chap # 57] |

Sayyidina Anas (RA) ibn Malik reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “If anyone recites Surah al-Ikhlas every day two hundred times then his sins over fifty years will be effaced unless he has a debt payable.” It is reported from the Prophet (SAW) through the samesanad that he said, “If anyone intends to sleep on his bed and lies down on his right sideand recites Surah al-Ikhlas a hundred times then, on the Day of Resurrection, the Blessed and Exalted Lord will say to him, “O My slave, enter Paradise by your right side.” -Tirmidhi (2907) |
Weekly reminder: Do not forget to recite Suratul Dhukhan today, remember we will get the prayer of 70,000 angels. The following recitation is only 7mins. 7min is a small time considering the fact we will get the prayer of 70,000 angels. May Allah give us the blessing to do more Ibadah. Ameen. The wish of every muslim is to say 'LailaahaillAllah' (there is no god but Allah) at the time of our death. We all think we will be able to do it easily. But there are many obstacles to that. Music is one of it. Want to know how? The following is a very good video. [flash=640,390] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qflrhYkYgjs?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0[/flash] |
Lagosboy:You nailed it bro. Exactly the problem of everyone including me. We tend to judge people very harshly. People with good Imaan do not show off their deeds, So we can never know. Even if a person who is not religious we should not judge them. For only Allah know if in the future he/she might come to the right path and become a much better person than us. If Allah guides someone then nothing can stop him/her. Before we judge someone we should think about Allah judging us in the day of Resurrection.! Its Something we all fear. May Allah make it easy for us on that day. Ameen. |
Jazakumullahu Khairan. Keep on contributing everyone. |
“Reciting ‘Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad’ & Surah Falak & Nas three times in the evening & in the morning will protect you against everything” (Tirmidhi al-Da’waat 3499. Classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Sahih Sunan al-Tirmidhi #2829) |
''forgiveness is how we fully recover from an injury someone else inflicts upon us'' -- [ Shaikh Yasir Qadhi ] |
I think we need to strike a balance between the two. First look at ourselves and try to increase our faith and deeds. Then look at others, enjoin good and forbid evil. Then look back at ourselves and make sure we are following what we advice to others. Then again try to bring others to the right path. Then focus back to ourselves. And so on. We should try to balance both, I know its easier said than done. We should try, InshAllah. Striving in the path of Allah is one of the best deeds. |
Sayyidina Anas ibn Maalik (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “If the son of Aadam had one valley full of gold then he would crave for a second. Nothing can fill his stomach but dust. And Allah relents to one who repents.” [Ahmed 12717, Bukhari 6439, Muslim 1048] |

"Whoever fears Allah will not be harmed by anyone, while whoever fears others besides Allah will not be helped by anyone.” -- [ Fudayl ibn ‘Iyad] |
I think most of you are of the opinion the major problem faced by Muslims is extremism. Lets try to answer few questions before we draw a conclusion. 1st set of questions. How many muslims you know personally support extremism? one, two maybe few more. How many of them actually done some thing physical/material following the extreme path? Not many i guess. Ok now for the 2nd set of questions. How many of them drink alcohol? How many of them commit adultery? How many of them do not pray Salah? How many of them do not fast on Ramadan? As for me I ve never come across any muslim personally who even support extremism. But i have come across a many who drink alcohol, etc etc. So is extremism not an issue? Yes it is certainly a problem, but it is only one of the problems, Definitely not the major problem. If a Muslim commits a extremist act it makes headlines. If a muslim drinks alcohol its never a news. Thats why it catches our attention more. Is extremism a problem? Certainly it is a problem. Many people are misguided to the path of unnecessary violence. If we personally come across such a person we should certainly discourage that person from getting into trouble. But the Alarming thing is the end result. 9/11 attacks left almost 4000 people dead. The retaliation by the U.S. left more than 50,000 civilians dead in Afganistan. Some reports show the counts are even more. In Iraq around 500,000 people were killed since 2004. What about Palestine, Its a genocide thats still going on. How about all other Muslims in western countries who are being troubled by others. Denied jobs, denied visa, called a terrorist for growing a beard etc etc. Some idiots commit atrocities in the name of Islam and gives others excuse to deny every other Muslim his/her rights. Just think real deep for a moment. are Muslims the oppressor or the oppressed? |
ifyalways:Only rely on very reliable sources. We should Avoid being obsessed with controversial matters especially historical details. Ask your local Imam if you have doubts. I m lucky to have a good local Imam. Also i was taught basic Islamic studies when i was younger. We have a syllabus for it which is approved by a board of scholars. That really helps me to discard misconceptions. More importantly Concentrate on basics more, like Salat, Zakat and good manners. There is enough and more to learn about Salat, Dikr and duas to make us busy for the rest of our lives. If a friend goes extreme or radical, ask them if they are following the 5 pillars of Islam first. Do they read the Quran frequently? Do they perform Salath 5 times daily? Ask them to get the basics perfected first. May God purify my Islam.Ameen. And our Islam too. Ameen. |
"To neglect one's religious practice for the sake of other people is a form of hypocrisy [riya']. To perform one's religious practice for the sake of other people is a form of polytheistic idolatry [shirk]. As for sincere devotion [ikhlas], it is being afraid that Allah (Exalted is He) might punish you for either of these two offenses." [Fudail ibn 'Iyad ] |

It is reported that,The Messenger of Allah (Saw) said: “A believer never gets satisfied doing good until he reaches Jannah.” [Tirmidhi] |

Narrated byAbdullah ibn Mas'ud(ra),The Prophet (Saw) said: " May I point out to you the person who is forbidden for the Fire, or on whom the Fire of Hell is forbidden? The Fire is forbidden to touch everyone, who is closer to the people, soft, lenient, and is kind-hearted." (Tirmidhi Hadith 642) |
