Chiwude: But Mandax, inasmuch as you've always tried to point out Orlu's abandonment to a relative level, I still think you're taking this matter too far. If I may ask, are you not happy that Owelle for the first time in Imo history decided to spread development to other interior parts of Imo state than the traditional Owerri, Okigwe and Orlu. From what we've seen so far, even though some of the projects have been left to rot, Rochas turned about 7 towns into new cities. My part of Umuaka and other areas like Orieubi, Anara and others were given some sort of urban restructuring by this same government. New roads interlinking other inner towns (although unfinished were connected to my Akah city. The Owerri-Orlu road was dualized and a new bridge constructed across the Njaba river. We had new rows of shopping complex at Afor Umuakah, a new General hospital at Okwudor and a mapped out new stadium to be constructed at central school Akah. Other new cities as well as other communities felt one presence of Owelle's touch in one way or the other. From the triangular shape of the new cities and a further push of the Owerri boundaries to the interior, one would see that the future plan of the state government is to convert the whole Imo into a metropolis by pushing the urbanisation of Owerri to directly connect with other satellite towns and into established areas like Orlu, Mbaise and Okigwe. So, from this act alone it is evident that your Governor deserves some form of commendation. However, my grouse with Rochas is that he seems not to be bothered with the criticisms of his first tenure and keeps repeating them. that Mandax is a paid propagandist, don't mind him. Infact, I'll be going to Orlu on 30th to see him. |

On my contribution you quoted I clearly pointed out that the bad road affected weekly influx of Port Harcourt boys to Owerri. I for example visited only 3 times this 2015 as against other years that could be up to 20. I thought as much. Amadioha must strike that yoruba guy that wants to destroy Biafra peace. |

mandax: B2mario,
Dust in the north of Nigeria is what gives northerners the many health problems like blindness, lung diseases and short live span.
Do you wish same for people in Orlu?
Mind you dust is worse from roads that were scrapped and with sand poured upon the roads and abandoned; as is the problem in Orlu.
No body is asking Okorocha government to come to Orlu to asphalt urban roads, many of them fully built with houses on both sides, not asphalted, but pose no danger of lung diseases.
No, what Orlu pray Okorocha to do is asphalt the roads his contractors scrapped up in the last four years, if not, Okorocha is deliberately inflicting people living along those scrapped, dusty roads in Orlu with lung diseases and early blindness.
And do not believe that when the media war starts soon, that your type of excuse can suffice. Oga dust is dust and theirs is even worst. You should channel your grievances to the right place(govt house) not doing as if you are paid to destroy Rochas and Imo image. I understood that you want to draw Rochas attention to Orlu, but it sounds ungodly to say that he has done nothing in Orlu. Lets be truthful for once. |

EASTSIDAZ: Hopeless I.diot I have warned you to desist from mentioning any part of Anambra in your tirade.
Let me make it clear, no part of Anambra visits Imo state or any part thereof for any reason whatsoever because we have everything and anything within our boundaries.
Stop dragging others with you because we have nothing in common. Owerri as a big commercial se.x market cannot be mistaken as tourism but what it is. I can bet with my house that the only time I know that there is a place called imo state is whenever I am passing through on my way to PH.
Stop being silly or this thread will catch fire!
[s][/s] oga what's wrong with one mentioning anambra, why do you like to rubbish Imo and other Igbo cities?.... It's high you drop this madness, and stop claiming Igbo, you Yoruba guy. Stop claiming Anambra and be bringing division in our peaceful and lovely Igboland, cos nothing can divide us. Amadioha is with his people and must strike you oneday. Afam4eva: What's the deal about Owerrinta though. I think a new emerging town can come out of it. if only govt can pay attention to it. The town has nothing much apart from the naval school/base, it's situated in Abia state at the boundary between Imo and Abia, it's an indigenous town of Ngwa tribe. |

ekafine: This is what pisses me up about igbo people. U run a place down just to uplift your place. In which way has owerri surpassed Calabar. Calabar Is another level. Is it beauty, good roads etc. If u say that Owerri is the cheap se.x capital of Nigeria that would be understandable. Because all I saw in owerri aside bad and decaying infrastructures are battalions of women all over the town seeking for men. U dont call that tourism but disaster & chaos. I refused to share the pictures i took here knowing how some of u will misconstrue it but I will share it anyways if u keep attacking south south states.
Cc: HopeAtHand are you sure you know Owerri or are you talking about Owerrinta? Hmmmm, this must be a yoruba bas.tard. Lets not fall for this guy tricks, he wants to draw argument between Igbo and Southsouth. |

mandax: What shall it profit you, your governor and others who think Owerri is all about Imo state, when thousands of people in Orlu and elsewhere outside Owerri in Imo state start to die of lung diseases resulting from inhalation of dust from the roads abandoned here by Okorocha contractors in the last four years?
Inadequate education is a huge disease: as this prospect of mass lung disease is being mentioned, some local champions don't understand what may be at play;
your governor instead of coating the dusty roads, ignores the impending disease disaster, but continues to build new roads where no humans live in his city of Owerri; and you show the roads with talk of tourism capital of Nigeria. Oga nobody will die of lungs disease, stop talking as if you fall from another planet. How many have died in the North where dust is part of their weather? We are in Africa where more than 55% of our roads are not tarred, so stop acting as if Imo state is exceptional. Rochas has tried in Orlu, you can't expect him to leave owerri and invest Imo resources in a small town like Orlu. Now Orlu is better and finer than all the towns in Nigeria that are in same status with it. Rochas has attracted many development in Orlu more than other previous governors. He attracted many higher institutions to Orlu, like the school of Health technology, upgrading of TESAC facilities to polytechnic status, and the newly constructed Imo-american university which you and your fellows termed private university and also criticised him on that account. |

Duru1: Per the bolded, this is the mindset which constitutes the major bane of progress in Nigeria. Must he be one of numerous and deluded political prostitutes to be criticized? are you for real? Politics is a business you invest where that can yield you more profit or buy stocks in companies that can take you far. You don't have to be sunk on a particular business just because of sentiments(because of love or because your people are in the line) while others are making progress. Apga was established since 2001 and it has never won a gubernatorial election outside Igboland, now tell, how do you see such venture as a viable one?.... Only Igbos can not make one the president of Nigeria. |

Duru1: What is outsider about Ekafine's criticisms of Rochas Okorocha of Imo State? It takes love to exhibit the type of interest Ekafine has shown in his/her post with respect to this discussion. Do you know his/her parentage? Your post smacks of dishonesty and insincerity which are anti-progress. shit! Which love and who's dishonest here? This thing is becoming too disgusting and boring, is Rochas the only politician that dumped a party for another. They can claim any state indigene to degrade Imo but we know where they come from. Let's leave Imo state alone, which point do we want to buttress sef? The truth can't be hiden, Rochas is working and real Imolites love him and that is why they voted him back. Those politicians from neighbouring state who are saying that Rochas belongs to Hausa party now that Nnamdi kanu is being persecuted on Igbo curse by federal govt what's their stand rather they seat back in their comfort houses and allowed their helpless and frustrated innocent citizens who were simply demanding for their right killed by federal forces. I'm tired of this blackmail campaign against Rochas and Imo state. They are making things boring here, we should be discussing of Igbo development on social media like this not raising critics and blackmail against our sister states and changing peoples perception about these states. Truth be told, which state in SE is better than Imo state. Or which state in the North apart from FCT is better than Imo state, even their almighty kano, sokoto, and kaduna can't be compared to Imo state. This xmas, when i was Coming back from the North i passed Imo state and I was pleased with the beauty of the state. |

Oga I've retired from Nairaland argument. I think all these roads were constructed? Blame your ecological system, the standard of road constructed in North can not be compared to that of East where road can be coated up to 10x and the Northern ones can be likened to those ones you called Dubia roads in east but they last longer because of their ecological system where there is less rainfall compared to East. Our problem in the east is excessive rainfall and less federal govt attention. |

Ekpe and Okonkon are shared by Abia, Akwa ibom and Imo just like many other culture. Ekpe is more pronounced in Abia state which makes me to suspect that the origin might be Arochukwu. Igbo, Efik-Ibibio and Andoni are neighbours and they share many things in common. On a more serious note, I'm very happy with the progress I see in Igboland, when I was coming back I passed through Anambra and Imo and was happy with way things are moving in the two sister states, today I'm very much happy of Igboland. In terms of administration Port Harcourt was even under Owerri province just like Orlu, Aba, Umuahia, Ohafia and Okigwe. The old Imo State was created out of Owerri province following removal of Ahoada from Owerri. Only Ebonyi part of Imo was from Ogoja province.
Now to Orlu. If the entire stretch of Road done in Orlu area is less than 5km may all my descendants perish but if its more than 2km may all your descendants perish.
