Damn... so many likes on my last comment. Nigerians like story sha. I was heartbroken when I visited Nigeria and the level of suffering I witnessed, was very shocking. That country is worse than when I left. I really wanted to make a change and help people but I don’t have the money to help everybody.

I told God to show me what I could do to change people’s lives. I thought about other things I could do, but God had other plans. I stumbled upon this forum and I knew at once, that this was it. I didn’t know I had the gift of words and how putting those words into writing, can impact lives.
God brought me here and showed me what I could do. Money can fix a need, but information can build wealth.

When you get to that place where God is taking you, know that it is for a reason. Don’t get there and forget where you came from. No matter your position in life, there’s always something you can do for someone else.

Now I sound like Obama. Let’s get into some stories.

Not all emotional issues tending towards dysfunction require the use of medication. That's why besides psychiatrists, they are psychologists and other practicing psychotherapists. Some cases require both medications and talk Therapy. Others may only require talk therapy.

Many people are scared or ashamed of the thought of visiting a mental health professional (stigma). Much work has to be done from the part of individuals in the society, and private and government institutions to eradicate or minimize stigma.

Our society has many actual and potential stress triggers capable of raising pressure in people's minds just as you highlighted. Psychotherapy can help people manage their emotions in the midst of these things. Remember, man is a meaning-making being.

Absolutely right! if the HIV/AIDS stigma could be defeated, then hopefully a consistent campaign can defeat this stigma.

As our population explodes ,with Information technology making access to best practices somewhere else in the globe easily available, we would soon have to embrace mental therapies ' options or practices .

Partnership with government and NGOs, development outfits ,the press, the clergy and relevant private sectors would help.

For example, many churches running 'mental' homes would need volunteer experts like you for training on best approaches, cross pollination of ideas ,fund raising and patients ' post treatment realities.

I think there is need for heavy and consistent advocacy about the advantage of seeking psychiatric therapy as most persons that have passed one stress or the other may need the medical help. Ask me if loud unsolicited noise from music boxes, cars, religious centres etc ; stolen or deliberately delayed emoluments; threats from landlords,family members or spouses; bad infrastructure and several abnormalities pervading Nigeria are not enough for many Nigerians to be ' mental'. Truth is, many Nigerians are ' mental'. That bus conductor and driver shouting and behaving as if they are under some drugs' influence no ' mental'? Abi na church members screaming at the top of their voices as if God is deaf, na them no dey 'mental'? Hehehe politician that is hiding N5b he can never spend finish inside toilet or ' soakaway' , no be im ' mental pass.

Thanks for the update. Well, it is good that a member of Tolulope's family is not satisfied with the "car accident" story. The story seems cooked up really. I personally believe that something is fishy about the whole setup that claimed the precious life of that young lady. But then,there must be an evidence to support that belief and this is why I support Adegboye's push for enquiry into the death of her sister. I hope however that she will take necessary precautions to safeguard her own life too. It's going to a very bumpy journey.

The question is who are those that will carry out such investigations ? Members of NAF ? FG's committee of enquiry ? My fear is that we may never know what actually happened to that young lady on the fateful day if investigation into her death is not independently carried out. Somebody must definitely know something about it and the person may be willing to talk to someone - an investigator about the actual cause of the officer's death.

A lot of Nigerians are not entirely satisfied with the reason given for Tolu's death and it actually raises lots of questions begging for answers.
Murder can't be ruled out in this circumstance ,especially in a country where some people are aggressively pushing for an ethnic superiority agenda !

It is pertinent that a thorough independent investigation be carried out since according to Adegboye- Tolu's sister ,and the only family member that saw her last before she reluctantly obeyed a summon to establish who the boss is. Of course ,what was the summon about? Adegboye needs to stay safe,I repeat, for Tolu might have been entrusting some info to her before now.

I agree with you absolutely that if all the questions you raised can be satisfactorily answered,there is no doubt the true cause of the young brilliant officer's death will be revealed.
