It is not about money the moment you step outside into a developed country you'll realized you don't have to go to church to be successful, to be hired, to be respected, it won't score you a point. Like no body cares, churches don't operate from mon to sun, no services of 8am to 6pm, no marathon fasting, no casting of demons, So it possible you might get bored or get used to such lifestyle. Personally the last time i was in church was over 10 years ago Aareakinwunmi: |
Omo the way una dey write ehn he come be like say this governors dey do us a favor. Nigerian and low self-esteem low IQ na 5 and 6 |
The current price in SA is R1 189 999,88 convert to naira N28 829 580,56 |
The honest trust 60% out of 100% Nigerians in SA are into some kind of illegalities and you wonder why they will never sign a visa free agreement with us even to get 2 years resident permit you will need a lot of luck. Something is very wrong with many Nigerians i sometimes wonder that we are the most poorest nation in Africa the way we are so aggressive towards money I would like to blame the Government but who are the Government aren't they Nigerians??. Like honestly money shouldn't be everything in life even in Libya, Yemen and Syria where they are fighting war their citizen shouldn't spread like a parasite. Nigerians we have a lot of work to do!!! |
Una no get consumer protection for that country ni? |

The moment we start to have sense of originality the better we are close to transforming Nigeria. 200 million Nigerian will not leave some in their life time will never near airport the Nigeria problem are Nigerians because the people make a nation. If you think traveling out is escaping the hardship and securing your family's future if you manage to do that the truth is at a point in your life you would wish nigeria was better and your kids had sense of originality this is something you wont realize until you start to age that when loneliness would strike you very hard I'm not swearing but I'm talking about nature. Traveling abroad is not a bad decision if you're going to acquire knowledge, study, joining a family, already secured a job, but if you're going to hustle as in overstaying your visa thinking miracle is awaiting you there you're going for a long thing let say you managed to get a job that pays $2000 as an illegal immigrants after paying rent and other maintenances i swear you're the same as someone earning 300k in Nigeria on top you'll have so much to worry about you'll hardly be productive because of your status by the time your live under this circumstances for some years you would be bored with life you still won't solve your family problems at home because you're also still fighting for your life by the time you know it you're already over 40. My conclusion is going abroad to hustle will not make you rich those who are rich don't work for people |
Skip to navigationSkip to content REUTERS/CHRIS KAUFMAN Passengers at JFK airport in New York, NY, U.S., RESTRICTED Nigeria had the biggest drop in visitors to the US last year as Trump’s visa policies took hold By Yomi Kazeem & Dan Kopf3 hours ago The travel measures taken against Nigeria by the United States last year are starting to have a clear and, potentially, long-term effect. Data from the US travel and tourism office shows Nigeria recorded the largest global drop-off in visitors to the US. As of October 2019, 34,000 fewer Nigerians traveled to the US compared to the previous year—a 21% drop. After a sustained period of growth between 2011 and 2015, the number of Nigerian visitors to the US started to plateau in 2016 until the big drop-off last year. The second largest drop was for visitors from Venezuela (17.7%). The South American country is in the midst of an economic and political crisis which has seen more than four million people flee the country and the US is restricting entry to Venezuelan migrants. The dip in Nigerian visitors to the US followed a string of visa clampdown measures by the Trump administration targeting Africa’s largest economy. After indefinitely suspending its visa interview waiver for Nigerian applicants (the waiver allowed frequent travelers renew their visa without going through in-person interviews each time), the Trump administration also raised visa application fees for Nigerians by including additional “reciprocity fees” ranging from $80 to $303 depending on the class of visa. And even though the Nigerian government immediately slashed visa application fees for American applicants in a bid to get the US to reverse its price increase, the reciprocity fees remain in place. The measures followed reports that the Trump administration was looking to impose visa restrictions on countries whose citizens have a track record of overstaying beyond the validity of their short-term US visas. As it turns out, Nigerians were the highest ranked African country for US visa overstays in 2018. Even though official data confirms the effects of the measures, there were already warning signs the administration’s policies were having an adverse impact on potential travelers. The policies also spawned fear-fueled rumors among locals as well: mid-last year, the United States embassy in Nigeria was forced to deny a widespread rumor that it had placed a ban on issuing student visas to Nigerians. The tougher overall visa stance by the Trump administration comes at an inopportune time for middle class Nigerians who are increasingly emigrating amid fears of economic uncertainty back home. Nigeria’s once promising economy remains mired in sluggish growth since a 2016 recession while unemployment continues to climb. With many middle class professionals searching for alternatives, the number of Nigerians seeking legal immigration pathways to the US, UK and, increasingly, Canada, has risen sharply over the past half-decade. But despite the Trump administration’s policies, the US remains a popular destination for Nigerian students seeking foreign degrees as the economic impact of spending by Nigerian students studying in the United States reached $514 million over the past academic year. |

nuggarito:You mustn't say these of your fellow human being. Clearly I'm thinking you've not grown. |
fluentinfor:I was bombard and seen as a barstard when I mentioned many nigerians don't speak good English. This is even not about accent. We just don't pronounce some words correctly and it has nothing to with our roll of tongue. I want to believe this is how Pidgin English came about. Nigerian English just sound so funny out of all the English speaking nations in the world (that's the result of our educational system and since independence we've been doing our own thing in a wrong direction). I won't expect you to agree if you're not in a country where their official language is English. |
Chuchunana:Bro I'm still gonna say same thing we don't speak good English. You hold a Nigerian passport with a degree in English from Nigeria University and I hold ordinary southern African passport. Then we both seek for english teaching Jobs in Asia I can bet with my life that the chances of me getting a job is higher than yours. Even the Asian don't consider us as a english nation but they considered some southern Africa countries. Google is your friend |
Taofeekdboy:i said 97% I didn't say all Nigerians maybe or maybe not you speaks well I wouldn't know. If your interview was a white person obviously he wouldn't say it to your face that your spoken english is poor but rather praise you cos it never in their culture to belittle or make you feel low. But secretly they will gossip about it. I don't know you and I'm not disputing you don't speak well as presently I will stand on my ground that majority of Nigerians don't speak good English and I rate it high. |
Taofeekdboy:keep defending our failure as a success. I'm sure instinct would somehow hit on your deeply that I'm very right. Our spoken english is not up to the standard I'm not even talking about accent. We've mastered our English in the wrong direction the system been there for sometime now and it keep reproducing. |
Taofeekdboy:don't make me laugh. I'm not ashamed to say it cos I have our educational system controlled by our government to blame. Basically from experience I think I have improve my spoken English and still learning. An argument will always go two ways so I really don't expect you to support my motions. I want to believe I have given you all to those who believe we speak good English enough prove to digest from one on one encounter, words of mouth and writes up by other people rather than being bais. I'm not disputing we don't speak English we do and it our official language but outsiders don't consider our spoken english as a good one point blank. I love my country and I really wish her well. |
HeWrites:SORRY BRO. KEEP BELIEVING WE SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH. |
Taofeekdboy:no one is looking down on us. We become a bloody fool when we don't know something and admitting we know it better. We don't speak good English you know why? because our educational system is messed from primary to tertiary. That's a prove. please wish Nigeria well by not defending this baseless argument. Prove is here lost defenders https://www.google.co.za/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.africanexponent.com/amp/post/8264-uganda-ranked-the-best-english-speaking-country-in-africa&ved=2ahUKEwiUqbDchvjaAhWkKcAKHWfTC0kQFjANegQIBRAB&usg=AOvVaw3ex_Cx70MnauXgRc96xY4F&cf=1 Here is my conclusion below from the article In West Africa, countries like Nigeria and Ghana that are known to speak English have often faced widespread criticism over their ‘thick’ accents. Spoken English words are often mixed with a heavy tone of pidgin, which perhaps, confuses many foreigners who find it had to grasp the spoken words When I said it took me flipping 4 years to adapt to pronouncing some english words correctly some people here thought I had low self-esteem. |
Taofeekdboy:lol comparing Ugandans English to that of Nigerians it like comparing California City to Ajegunle City. Get lost dude like seriously the way some lecturer in Nigeria still pronounce TURN as TORN, BACK as BARK, CUT as COURT. Like seriously you have a prove? |
HeWrites:y'all must stop fooling around. I have said the bitter truth but it obvious I can't win this argument. Well I'm not surprised. I will refer back to my early postt saying we are so stubborn to comprehend admitting something is not right and that's the only right direction to improvement. What we think, feel and believe is the reason we are not growing as a nation since independence and funny enough it can reflect from everyone of you perspectives who believe we speak good English rather than admitting the truth and possibly blame our educational structures just for a solution. |
londoner:we shared same view even though you didn't shoot straight. When I mentioned Hausa accent is more appealing someone thought I wasn't insane. "Are you going now? Ok greet your wife and children for me" hell yeah we speak good English seriously. I'm still gonna say it again straight up. About 97% Nigerian can't speak good English can't also pronounce correctly. I don't have low self-esteem and I won't defend my father's land on this I'm only being honest. But we can improve by learning. |
peacengine:for God sake they laugh at our spoken English. Admit it and get out of your cave. Our English is bad but we can learn and improve. Deal with the truth boy |
Taofeekdboy:get out of here! Nigerian speaks good English not close in my dreams. Have you ever listened to Uganda, South Africa, Namibia, Seychelles, Mozambique, botwana, Angola, Congolese, Swaziland English? You will trip compare to gibberish we speaks called English. Learning is admitting you dont know something. Example do you want to compare Nigerian rappers spoken English to the rappers from eastern and southern Africa?? I said it before one of the reason we don't grow is we too stubborn to admit and lazy to learn. When something is bad we admit it and think of solution to it. Deep down where you are you know they don't value our English yet you praising and proud of something that makes everyone of us inferior when it comes to speaking good English. A white man do not expect you as a black man to speak good English especially if it's not your mother tongue but at least expects you to pronounce words correctly. I can bet with my life majority of Nigerian still cannot pronounce simple basics such as can, mother, cut, further, juice, and, correctly. We don't speak good English simple we need to learn over to our teachers, leaders and parents. |
Spygadgets19:because we are lazy mentally, stubborn, less resourceful, we like short cut to success, we don't care about passion we care about survival, our problems weighs us so much down to improve to think logically, to progress. I have been gone for too long but whenever I watch Nigerian movies produced in 2017 I see no goddamn improvement the new generation already inherited the bad lifestyles and ways of life and so they will pass it on. The only solution to our problems we must just start to change the way we reason, think and feel things. |
Taofeekdboy:get out of here, get of Nigeria shores and come back to prove your argument. Good English comes with accent. When you pronounce words like come, can, what, water, love, her, and, must, Fanta, chair, cut, Anthony, missile, and the person you talking to frequently saying excuse me. Then you must know your English is poor. I bet 97% of Nigerian excluding the northerners can't pronounce the words mentioned above correctly. |
Taofeekdboy:Nigerian speaks good what?? Get out of here even the Franco phone countries speaks better than Nigerian. When I was new in South Africa it took me fliping time like 4 years to adjust to simple polite English. Every time I speak they always say what?? what?? |
ekpotek:what about hostels ? |
hok4u:come on. You know visit visa doesn't and can't give you same right as citizen or resident. |
hok4u:I'm not into educational field but one thing I know coming to South Africa you will definitely get a forklift driver job. But you must present your paper + TAX number + license that the basic requirement. You can get licence for around 1300 rand after training. |
lindaayim:glad people opening up. After all it your money. No big deal in disclosing what you earn |
