Well, my dear, like I said, the bible was not hand written by GOD! It was man made. People wrote it.

This is just my speculation:   there two stories because during the complilation of the bible over the years two parties that had the stories were 'fighting' for which is the 'right' one to "publish". To settle this they just had to put the two.

Remember most of the old testament stories where passed down orally, so it's possible both of the Genesis stories  are not as accurate as we think.
