By Rachel Burchfield Often people succumb to deceptions that prevent them from accepting God’s abundance for their lives. Here are four primary lies. Lie #1: God wants you poor. Why do people fight so hard to be poor? Instead of craving more to lavish on yourself, imagine how—if you had more—you could do more to help others. God’s covenant was to prosper His people so extravagantly that it would be a witness to the world. God takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servants (see Ps. 35:27). Lie #2: Prosperity is equivalent to monetary wealth. Financial surplus is only one part of God’s plan for abundance. Loving families, fulfilling relationships, vibrant health and purposeful lives are included in the abundant life Jesus described in John 10:10. Lie #3: You can’t afford to tithe. What a deceptive lie. In truth, you can’t afford not to tithe! The tithe isn’t yours to negotiate; it’s God’s and it is holy. The Israelites paid their tithe as a debt, but since Jesus paid our sin- debt on Calvary, we tithe as an offering of gratitude. People don’t argue over leaving a waiter a 15-percent tip at a restaurant; why, then, would we resent giving God a tithe? What does it say about our priorities if we honor Visa before God? Lie #4: All the church wants is your money. No, it doesn’t. It wants fruit added to your heavenly account. It wants to expose anything in your heart that will prevent God’s blessings from overtaking you—things such as selfishness, fear or greed. God’s financial plan requires obedience, gratitude and generosity. The truth is, generosity has nothing to do with finances. Generosity requires heart. It can be seen in a homeless man sharing his blanket or a grieving widow giving someone else a hug. You can give without loving, but you can’t love without giving. |
On July 10 2014, Bishop David Oyedepo paid a courtesy visit to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State in Osogbo the State Capital. Being a few weeks to the August 9 elections, the media space was quickly put awash with news of Bishop Oyedepo endorsing the candidature of Aregbesola. The Living Faith Bishop in his speech said, “ any governance that is producing results and affecting the lives of vast majority of the people, must be deeply appreciated” ( http:// www.naij.com/69451.html ) . This sounded to all supporters of Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola as a direct endorsement of the candidature of their Principal. I remember how most of my Facebook friends began quickly sharing the picture below: How can one blame a servant of God for saying in clear terms what he feels about the administrative style of a Governor? Isn’t it the role of Prophets to say the truth as they are divinely inspired or as they may humanly feel? It was personally painful to me at the time, probably because I supported a different candidate at that gubernatorial poll. Yet, I had no divine right let alone human right to castigate this very revered Prophet for speaking his mind....or the mind of God as the case may be. At this time, I knew APC image makers to be the likes of Semiu Okanlawon, Goke Butika and their likes, Sulaiman Solarboy Adesola was as well a good jingoist at the time (I pray he reaps fruits of his tireless labour sha). I never knew the likes of Kayode Ogundamisi and Bunmi Awoyemi. At the time, they never came out of whatever closet they were hiding to commend the man of God for speaking the kind of ‘truth’ they wanted to hear. I remember Solarboy openly commended the Bishop; kudos bro. It becomes shocking however, when the likes of Ogundamisi and Awoyemi are now coming out to condemn the man of God for speaking the kind of ‘truth’ they do not want to hear! The stand of these APC dogs on the assertions of Bishop Oyedepo further confirms my long-standing belief that truth is true when it suits the APC but the same truth becomes ‘untrue’ when it opposes their beliefs. What hypocrisy! A few days ago, Kayode Ogundamisi went online to report a false version of the sermon of Bishop Oyedepo and I quickly had to write a rebuttal just as many other persons did who keenly followed the events. Just as the dust was settling on the Ogundamisi case, one faceless Bunmi Awoyemi through the platform of Sahara Reporters wrote another epistle of lies, lunacy and falsehood. I fathom that these dogs of the APC fold are bent on rubbishing the personality of Bishop Oyedepo for the purpose of helping their masters plunder his flock. I ask them, where were they hiding when Pastor Kalejaye of the RCCG came out to spit fire on GEJ’s administration? Was Pastor Kalejaye truthful because he spoke for the APC? Were his utterances not gross violations of the pulpit of Christ? Has Bishop Oyedepo made any statement that could be so clearly described as partisan as that of Kalejaye? Oyedepo was their friend when he spoke highly of Aregbesola, does he now become their enemy when he has refused to associate with Buhari and Osinbajo based on obvious reasons? These two unthinking writers labelled Bishop Oyedepo an antagonist of Buhari, premised on his belief that he (Buhari) will Islamize Nigeria. This claim is a very close cousin of irreparable madness. If Bishop Oyedepo could speak highly of Ogbeni, which many regarded as endorsement, why should anybody tag him anti-Islam? Was Aregbesola also not accused of planning to Islamize Osun State before Bishop Oyedepo ‘endorsed’ him? Or is the Bishop just beginning to acquire his anti- Islam stance? In the Bishop’s speech, he asked God to open the gates of hell on whoever opposed the peace of Nigeria; he claimed God had anointed him to lead a huge battle against the Boko Haram sect and encouraged Nigerian citizens to self-defend themselves against terrorists. How do Boko Haram terrorists translate into muslims? Have the Nigerian Islamic community not constantly distanced itself from these insurgents? Or are the duo of Ogundamisi and Awoyemi trying to tell Nigerians that Bishop Oyedepo’s assertions are a threat to their paymasters because they are indeed the sponsors of Boko Haram? Awoyemi in that folly-infested write-up claimed Namadi Sambo told supporters in Jigawa State that GEJ has been so good to muslims that all the service chiefs under his cabinet are muslims. Vice President Sambo will either be joking to say this, or Bunmi Awoyemi is completely insane or rather suffering from some form of hallucination. Of a truth, Nigerian Service Chiefs are four out of which two are indeed practising Christians. Infact, the Chief of Defence Staff AVM Alex Badeh is a Christian. Indeed, falsehood has turned APC and their Awoyemi-ish dogs into lunatics. As Awoyemi concluded that write-up, Section 95 (3) of the Electoral Act, states that “places designated for religious worship, police station and public offices shall not be used for political campaigns, rallies and processions or to promote, propagate or attack political parties, candidates, their political ideologies or programmes.” How exactly has Bishop Oyedepo campaigned for GEJ? There are video evidences to that Sunday Service, is there any point in that service where Bishop Oyedepo instructed the members of his congregation to vote GEJ? Or is APC afraid his endorsement might swing public opinion in GEJ’s favour? Why go after a respected man of God who never made any direct statements for or against any of the major political institutions? Why did they not instruct their attack dogs to go after Pastor Enoch Adeboye for closely relating with them days after the emergence of Osinbajo? Must all who do not relate with APC be wrong? This is the highest height of political hypocrisy Nigeria has ever witnessed. I sincerely ask Bunmi Awoyemi and Kayode Ogundamisi and others who will seek to propagate their writings of fallacy to tread softly. Bishop Oyedepo’s prayers to God for the opening of the gates of hell on all those who oppose the peace of Nigeria will definitely be made manifest, the duo will be better off without such hell experience when the manifestation begins. The utterances of Bishop Oyedepo has no divisive tendencies, Ogundamisi and his cohorts are the ones seeking to pitch Christians against Muslims by inferring that by Boko Haram, Bishop Oyedepo meant all muslims. To watch a video of the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to Canaan Land and clear all doubts, kindly click here. The gates of hell indeed need to be let loose. Something has to rid our nation of this coalition of liars and truth benders. As a quick response to these enemies of peace, Bishop Oyedepo wrote today: "Every one reading this listen, I take no side with any political party and i'm not accountable to any politician and any political party.... It's in the moment of your decision and the choices you make next month in the forth coming elections that the destiny of Nigeria is going to be shaped for the future... Destruction is coming upon those that has been opposing and oppressing Nigeria, the judgement of God is coming upon the wicked in Nigeria very soon... I like you all not to get me wrong, Whether you are for President Jonathan or General Buhari, the choice is all yours... For the information that has been circulating that i said Hell will be let Lose on those opposing the government of Jonathan; yes that's for those who want to destroy Nigeria and not for those who doesn't support Jonathan re - election. You all have right to your opinions and will- power, no one can force any candidate on you. Listen i'm not campaigning for Jonathan, and if he's your preferred choice, then vote for him. And if Buhari is your choice go ahead and vote for him. Go ahead in the power given to you and vote in your choice and i see God backing you up.I'm not for any politician and i'm not for any political party... God bless you all" http://www.oderinuadedayo.co.uk/2015/01/bishop-oyedepo-and-apcs-lies-gates-of.html?m=1 |
I can't see sense in what she said |
It does not matter, even if you sleep in different rooms under same roof, what you'll do you'll do. Its better you understand yourself, if you are the type that can not tame your mind, please don't try it, because you will wake her up eventually with any excuse u can think of. Do not compare your self to others, we have different capabilities. Happy Sunday! |
Nice one Op, Proudly Yoruba. Please correct this @Op It is "Omo" which sounds "rere" and not "Ómó" which sounds "minmin" . . Thanks Ádára fún e Lólá Olúwa |
God save Nigeria. People keep dying everyday and those alive are in fear of uncertainty. And Yet our so call leaders keep using this as campaign point against each other. Why don't we fight a common enemy together, and then after we can face ourselves. |
I hope the Job is not like OYES in Osun State, cos that is slavery, or what do u call a job that gives 8k to a degree holder to be sweeping high ways. Fake politicians deceiving Nigerian |
Looking at all the top presidential aspirants, I still could not find a better option. I think we are supposed to be tired of this our attitude of choosing a better evil. I am from the SW and I can tell you most people that will vote GMB will do so not because he is a right choice but because they are tired of GEJs government. Likewise those that will vote GEJ will do so just because the alternative is GMB who they would rather not gamble on. Must we have to chose between wrong choices every time? Like a friends' BBM status states, "I'd like "None of the above" option on ballot papers. Maybe if we could garner more "None of the above" votes we could make parties present better candidates" I wish and pray we will come to a time when we will be choosing best out of good candidates and not choosing 'less wrong' out of wrong candidates. God bless Nigeria! |
After guiding the super eagles out of 2015 cup of nations, the outspoken coach actually opened our eyes. Just like a friend of mine stated on facebook, I'll sum the lessons up in 7 points: 1. Never at anytime think you're better than others because you have better results to show for your effort. 2. Energy for talking should be given to working out results on the field of play. 3. Coveting and demanding for more than your capacity can contain is invitation to self destruction. 4. A trophy won only activates more difficult challenge(s), so prepare, be more pragmatic, tactical and build extra stamina. 5. Good leaders respect and look after their team players, great leaders listen to their complaints, welcome their suggestions and accommodate their emotions. 6. Never take credit for success produced with team effort. 7. The love of money leads to embarrassing downfall. 8. Never believe what worked for somebody must work for you. Because Morinho criticizes his players and still win does not means it always work. These and many more are the lessons the big boss dash us. What do you learn from his management? |
Chinese women who are entering South Korea seeking skilled plastic surgeons are undergoing such transformative procedures that they are now struggling to get past airport security on their way home. The extensive surgeries, which can include reducing excess skin in the upper eyelid to make the eyes appear bigger and more ‘Western’, are transforming some Chinese women’s entire faces, rendering them almost unrecognizable. To combat the issue, some hospitals have resorted to handing out ‘plastic surgery certificates’ – which include the patient’s passport number, the name of the hospital they were treated at and the length of their visit to South Korea – to enable the women to re-enter China. Abuja – Stephen Keshi, Super Eagles’ Head Coach, on Tuesday in Abuja said that the team was focused and ready for its crucial make-or- mar game against Congo Brazzaville in Pointe Noire. The Super Eagles have begun full training in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier clash against the Red Devils in Pointe Noire. It was a full house as all 23 invited players except Captain Vincent Enyeama and Ikechukwu Uche were present for the training which took place at the FIFA Goal Project pitch, National Stadium. Also Mikel Obi, Emmanuel Emenike and Emem Uduok gave a good account of themselves as they all scored in a warm-up game. Keshi, who spoke to newsmen after the training, expressed confidence in the ability of the team, adding that he was positive about their fitness and readiness for the clash. “What I saw this evening is encouraging and I just hope it continues that way. “The boys are focused and of course they know why they are here; it’s the business and so we have to go and do what we need to do. “We just have to be ready. This is African football. “ It is not European football and so I always tell my players that once they leave Europe they must switch from the European to African mentality,’’ he said. On the absence of Enyeama and Uche, Coach Keshi said that they were expected to arrive in camp later in the day. The Super Eagles are expected to leave for Pointe Noire on Thursday for Saturday’s game. Nigeria has sealed four points from four matches while Sudan is at the bottom of the Group A table with three points. South Africa is leading the group with eight points followed by Congo with seven points. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/11/boys-ready-congo-clash-says-keshi/ |
YoursGEJ: All of you that are speculating on his tribe as the most important thing should close your worm-infested mouths and shove your comments up a place where sunlight does not get to. Why can't you ask about his agenda or plans? Forget corruption and bad leadership, I swear the masses constitute a majority of the problem this country is facing. Alright regarding previous occupants of that seat, I can bet that most of you cannot name a single thing that they contributed to the community or a bill they have sponsored in the house. But you'd rather let them continue unchallenged in their position. Why? Because both of their parents are Lagosians. Imagine that your car broke down and what is most important to you is whether the mechanic that is trying to fix it is from your village even though all the previous mechanics who have tried but failed to fix it were all from your village. This politics of tribalism has led Nigeria nowhere especially under this current democratic dispensation. When military regimes used administrators from other parts of the country to rule a state, Nigeria saw more development that indigenous politicians have never been able to replicate be it at the federal, state or local level.Nigeria is a nation of many nations. We won't elect an outsider (as president or whatever) because we've bn having bad leaders. We'll rather find a way of electing better ones among us instead of putting ourselves under a colonial leader again. As for Desmond, if he's truly a Lagosian and INEC clears him, then no cause for story, let voters decided his fate. #my opinion |
