Angelinastto:It doesn't matter if you are new, just make your mark and people will pick you. Believe in you and people will believe in you. It's in you dear. Keep it up |
Nice one. If nothing, I commend your organization. It makes it appealing to read. I'm not sure the type you're using but I like it. If you want, you can bold your updates to differentiate it from ordinary comments. Thumbs up |
Angelinastto:Don't be bothered by that dear. Keep writing. Yes comments brings encouragement, but when there is none, you encourage yourself. I'm not a very good writer but I can say you've got great potential. Keep it up and never give up. Keep the story coming. I'm following. Try to invite people here too. |
EPISODE THREE MFYL PR2 I got closer to my twin sister and biological mother. She kept blaming herself for betraying our biological father but I assured her she’s not entirely at fault as I thought the man supposed to have look for her all these while. Her matrimonial problem however continued as she was not able to manage her husband who became weirder in his pursuit of male child. I honestly don’t understand why one will be hell bent on having a male child when you already have female children that have the same ability in all areas just as the male child does. I understand it has to do with keeping the family name but what does he want somebody like Funmi’s dad who only has a daughter and no wife do? The man stood by his daughter and made her everything he loves, and that’s a true man. Everyman should be appreciative to God and care for the children given to them, whether male or female. All are children and have the same ability to be great. My love to Funmi wax stronger by day. We were always together throughout our defense and convocation period. It was service that is about to separate us and Funmi is fighting it so hard. She was posted to Lagos state while I was posted to Rivers state where I can join one of Daddy Orire’s company’s major branch offices over there. I was asked to choose between Lagos, our home town, or Porthacourt branch of the company and unknown to Funmi, I chose Porthacourt branch. She thought it was mere fate that took me to portharcourt not knowing it was my idea so I can explore other parts of the country. It would be my first time outside the southwest and I want to enjoy it to the fullest but Funmi is insisting I must redeploy to Lagos sighting the fact that distance will affect our relationship, though I don’t subscribe to that. To make it more interesting my personal guy, Temmy was also posted to Rivers state. We worked it together there to the disagreement of Rachael who was posted to plateau state which is very far from Lagos where her best friend Janet was posted. Funmi: There is something to this Porthacourt you are not telling me. Me: No dear, it’s just fate. I think there is a mission I need to accomplish there. Funmi: Which mission is that? Me: When I get there, I’ll know. It will be exciting; you know I’ve never been out of this place before. Funmi: I know it! You are going there to explore Me: Exploring is not bad dear, besides I’ll still be in your Dad’s company. Funmi: I’ll tell my dad to work it for you down to Lagos Me: Your Dad knows who I am? Funmi: No, not yet. I can’t tell him yet but this situation might force me to. Me: Why didn’t you tell him before, I thought you are very close to your dad and tell him almost everything. Funmi: Our relationship is still young Will Me: Common, six month is not too young. Funmi: My dad has an Idea of who he wants me to marry. The only way I can conquer that is if our love is strong for a long time but now you are going to jeopardize that with this your Porthacourt thing. My mind is not going with you. Me: Come on baby, it can’t affect our relationship. The world is a global village, we’ll call, chat, text and even Skype every day. Funmi: It’s easier said dear. The story will change when you meet other babes on camp. Me: Hmm, you seem not to trust me Funmi: I trust you to the core baby, but I don’t trust those babes. I live among hot chicks remember; I know how they work. Me: I’m an average guy dear, no girl want to be with a guy like me. Funmi: Really? An average guy that I totally fell in love with, that Janet almost ditched her fiancé for, that Uche got hard feelings for, that Judith (Aramide’s flat mate) tried to snatch away from me. Me: Come on baby, it’s because I gave them attention. Funmi: Dear my mind is not at peace with this. Me: Don’t worry baby, I promise to be faithful to you. Funmi: I said I do not doubt you, but I don’t trust those girls. You are a guy; your defense wall has limit. If you see what you’ve not been seeing now, your defense mechanism will come down flat. Me: (Laughing while I pull and hug her) My own Funmilola, the only one my heart beats for. There are numerous fishes in the sea but they can’t be shark. There are several varieties of bird in the air but there is only one kind of eagle. Other girls will surely come, they will always do, but what’s the point when all I ever want is you. I used to have a world of my own baby, quiet and clean. I never knew it was ugly until you came into my world. You are the angel God sent to beautify my life baby. Other girls are darkness but you are light. It’s no more my world but our world baby, and in this world I can’t do without you. You are like oxygen, the life of our world. Thank God for giving me His best angel in you, I love you Oluwafunmilola. Funmi: I love you my William Opeyemi Akehinde gbegbon (came last but the eldest). But promise me you won’t look at those girls. Me: I’ll see them, but not as girls. I’ll see them as potential wolves. Funmi: Yeah, I like that. They are indeed wolves. Please don’t toy with my heart William. Me: Nobody toys with diamond, because it’s not easily found. Funmi: You and these your words Me: They are true baby. You are my world. Funmi: I’m happy to be. So when will you leave? Me: It depends on when you are leaving. Funmi: I can get to the camp in a couple of hours from my house in Lagos. Me: I mean when you leave here. Funmi: When do you want me to leave? Me: I think we should leave today, so we can buy all the necessary stuffs needed on camp. Funmi: Mine are ready Me: I still need to get stuffs like mosquito net Funmi: That’s true, I don’t have that. Me: Aramide did promised to get me one but she couldn’t Funmi: Where was she posted to? Me: They are not going to service yet, maybe next batch. Funmi: Oh, those medical people’s calendar is always different. Are you going with your car? Me: I’ll love to, in fact it would have been interesting since I’m going with Temmy, but I heard they don’t allow corps member’s cars into the camp and I don’t even know the route. Funmi: So what will happen to the car? Me: I’ll drop it at home Funmi: For a whole year? Me: No, I’ll come back to pick it after camp. I would have known the routes by that time. Funmi: Alright, I still wish you redeploy though. Me: We’ve settled that baby, we are good. I saw her drove off as she in the company of Rachael, Sewa, Janet and one other lady went to Lagos together in her car, while I left to my home town with my home boy Temmy. Dan had travelled back to the United States a month earlier after her introduction ceremony with Sewa in Lagos. They are going to be having their wedding immediately after our service year. We branch a gas station to fill up the fuel tank while Temmy took over the steering. Temmy: You’ve repaired this steering right? Me: Funmi’s mechanic did work on it yesterday. Temmy: I see it’s now very good. Me: Thank God it’s Toyota and not Kia as Daddy Orire proposed. Temmy; Kia is also great, very great self. Me: Yeah, but majority of these local mechanics are good on Toyota. Temmy: Mehn! This is so cool; I wish we can take it along to Porthacourt Me: Me too, but do you know the route? Temmy: Google map will do that. Me: What about where we’ll park the car? Temmy: That’s the only thing. Don’t you know somebody in Porthacourt? Me: Not at all, but the camp is not even in Porthacourt. Temmy: At least we can park it there and take cab to the camp. Me: That’s true but I’ve got nobody there. Temmy: Damn! It would have being fun. Me: Sincerely I’ll love it too. Temmy: Mark was posted to Rivers too. Me: Markinson baba, funny dude. Temmy: He said he’ll love to go with us. He thought we are going with the car. Me: Oh, even if we were, will he travel down to our side from Lagos? Temmy: He said he’ll wait for us in Ore. Me: We’ll see. While we were still discussing my phone rang and it was from Daddy Orire. Me: Hello sir Orire: Yemi, how are you? Me: I’m fine sir Orire: Where are you? Me: On my way home sir Orire: That’s good. When are you leaving for camp? Me: I’m proposing Tuesday sir Orire: I thought the camp opens on Tuesday? Me: Yes sir Orire: Then go on Monday. You know you can’t predict the way vehicles behave and your journey is a little far. Me: I’m not going with the car sir. Orire: Why not? Me: I don’t know the route very well and they won’t allow us to park on the camp. Orire: Don’t worry about that. Somebody is going to our branch over there; you’ll go together on Monday. He knows the route very well. Me: What about where to park Sir? Orire: I’ve already called the manager over there. He’ll receive you and you can sleep over at his place and go to camp on Tuesday. You can also park your car at his place. Me: How do I get in touch with him sir? Orire: The guy that is going with you will take you to his place. Me: Okay sir, thank you sir. Orire: Let me know when you are there, I’ll send the guy’s number to you now, or better still, he’ll call you. Me: Okay sir (Line went off). Temmy call Mark, we are going with the car. Temmy: Yes! Monday came and we embarked on our journey to the garden city of Porthacourt. We left home by 5am in the morning and picked Mark up in Ore town. Our journey was sweet and fantastic as the four of us discussed till we got to Benin where we had a break to fill our stomach. We took off from Benin City and we were enjoying every moment of the journey as the road between Benin City and Warri happened to be one of the best my car has journeyed on. Some miles to enter into the oil rich city, we met an auto accident scene involving a bus coming from Lagos and a car coming out of the city. There was no life lost but victims were in serious pain and I think I saw somebody I knew among the victims. “Let’s stop and check who that is” I said to Temmy who had taken oven the wheels from Benin. My suspicion was actually correct as I saw her standing up trying to gather her stuffs. I’m happy she was able to stand on her own. |
olatex25:Lols @back2back welcome Bro. Thanks @Costal |
Amerage:Lols, It's more of who I am Bro. The Will character is mostly how I live or have lived and Temmy's Character is more of that of my roommate in school (one of my best friend). Every Character is of someone I know |
Amerage:16years in final year ain't real at all. That must be a mix up or error of negligence. In my mind I don't intend putting 6years ago, maybe I do unknowingly. It should be several years ago. Thanks Bro, I'll check it. Modified: I've checked it Bro, 6 years ago wasn't mentioned, maybe you calculate it like that, see where it was mentioned Babsopey:Thanks Bro. Guys the season two has started and the link is on my comment above. I want to tag all but I couldn't because of spam bot. Thanks |
starspray:Sorry Bro. Spam bot is not allowing me to multiple tag again. |
EPISODE TWO MFYL PR2 “Today I finally met my biological mother but it wasn’t a Hollywood sweet moment where mother and son re-unite with much jubilation. I strongly believe there was a reason I felt that way because I don’t think it supposed to be that way. Whatever it is, I will unravel it so I can at least feel her embrace, smile with her and have opportunity to love her.” We all went to Funmi’s side where guys were recalling and laughing about the verbal abuse we were dished at Aramide’s side while I just lay there on the mattress with so many thoughts going through my mind. My phone rang and it was from Aramide but I ignored it. It rang again and Funmi picked it this time around. She spoke for a while and then faced me. Funmi: It’s Vera, she want to speak with you. Me: (I took the phone from her) Hello Vera: Brother Kehinde, sorry about the other time. Me: No problem dear, I’m good. How’s Aramide, I saw her call earlier? Vera: I was the one calling, she and mum has been crying profusely since you left Me: Crying? Why are they crying? Vera: Please can you come over? I’m getting fed up Me: I’m really not in the mood right now. Funmi, obviously listening to my conversation with Vera, snatched the phone from me. Funmi: Hello Vera, he’s coming very soon (she terminates the call and faced me). Will, what’s wrong with you? Me: What did I do? Funmi: You are too emotional Will. Common you are a man, behave like one. Me: Do I have any fault here? Funmi: Yes you do. When you should have spoken up, you chickened out. You kept running away from situations, you can’t keep living like that. You have to be facing situations headlong baby. Temmy: She’s right Will. You can’t be running away every time. Stop allowing the fear of unknown to stop you from doing the right thing. You know this attitude almost cost you your relationship with Funmi. Go to your mother now and talk to her. Dan: See BB Will (we both smile), remember what mum told you. She asked you to love her. I know you have some dislike towards her but do not let those words that were spoken earlier bring out the hatred. Temmy: Exactly! I know you love her. Take up courage and work on that love. Solve this issue once and for all Will. Dan: If you want it, we’ll still go together Me: Let me go alone Funmi: I’ll go with you Me: No dear, I don’t want you involved again. Let me face whatever it is alone. Funmi: Will you be able to drive? Me: I’ll call if I’m not able to. I took Funmi’s car and headed back to Aramide’s side. My friend words gave me the necessary strength I needed to face the hurdle. I knocked on the door but was greeted by a lady we did not meet there the other time. I guess she’s one of the two other student nurses staying in the other rooms. I went straight to Aramide’s door and knocked, Vera welcomed me in and that was when I realized the other two women had left. I did not meet them crying but their face was still designed with the aftermath of the cry. I stood there looking at my mother while she stood up to face me. She kept repeating “my son” until she almost started crying again but I moved closer and prostrated. She lifted me up and hugged me while she cries on. Me: Stop crying mother, I’m sorry about the other time Mother: You just called me mother? (She started crying the more) Me: Yes mother, can I keep calling you that? Mother: Of course my boy. You don’t know how much I’ve wanted to hear that all my life (we both sat down). The last time I set my eye on you; you were still an infant and can’t produce any meaningful word. I am so sorry my boy, I made a mistake and I am regretting it. I offended you; I offended both you and your father. Me: It’s over mother; you don’t have to apologize anymore. Mother: Thanks for coming back to me and I am sorry for all I said to you earlier. I am sorry son, mother doesn’t hate you. I love you so much and I never meant to make you feel bad. Me: (I had to caution myself here to avoid crying. Funmi is right, I’m indeed emotional). No problem mother, I understand. Mother: May God bless your mother for me. She’s the reason why I could even locate you. She’s a great woman. Aramide: Mum you said the other time that you offended our father. You never told me that before. What did you do and where is he? Is he really dead? Me: Aramide, I don’t think this is the best time for mother to start talking about that. We’ll find another time when the atmosphere is less tense. Mother: No son, I’ll tell you some now. It was my selfishness that caused your separation from us. It wasn’t after your father left that I started dating my husband. I was cheating on your father with my husband even though I was engaged to your father. Your father wasn’t really well to do but my husband was a free spender then. I never told your father I was pregnant, so I don’t think he know he has twins, except if his brother, your step father was able to reach him before he passed away. Your father told me what his plan was and gave me enough money to travel down to Ghana to meet him, but I spent the money and refused to even look for him. I was the only one that knows where in Ghana he was heading to, but I refuse to tell anybody. All I told people was he run away when he discovered I was pregnant. I only hope he’s still alive so he can forgive me. Me: You don’t know if he’s alive? Mother: No, I don’t. Nobody heard anything from him since he left, and nobody cares to look for him since they all thought he ran away. Me: Do you have any of his pictures so that we can at least know how he looks like. Mother: I used to have a picture we snapped together that I kept inside my box, but my husband has destroyed it during one of our fights. He burnt everything inside the box, including the picture. Aramide: I remembered that time, but that means there is no way we can trace him or try to find him. Mother: I’ll help you in whatever way you want if you decided to look for him. I still have the address of the place he was going to in Ghana. Aramide: That’s twenty-five years ago mum. I’m not sure he’ll still be there if he’s alive. Me: I have a feeling all is not right with him. If all mother says about him is true, it’s either he’s dead or he’s in bondage somewhere, because he would have at least look for us. Mother: He might not; he didn’t know he has children. He’ll think I just decided to leave him. Aramide: Which means, he might still be alive Me: Positive, although I never heard from my mum if my dad was able to contact him at any point. I think we should let everything rest for now; we can try to search later. Aramide: Everything has been resting for the past twenty-five years Will. That’s enough rest. Me: What if he’s married now and we showing up destroy his home? Aramide: He never knew we existed, so I don’t think it will destroy his home. Me: What if he rejects us? Mother: He can’t deny you if he sees me. Me: I think we can try then, after your exams. Aramide: Yeah, service year is okay. Mother: Kehinde, whenever you want to see me, let me know. I’ll love to be seeing you, although I’m not too at peace with you coming over to my side. Aramide: Why is that? Mother: You know my husband, the kind of person he is. He was the one that decided we should drop him and have you alone in the first place. Now he didn’t have a male child, even three kids he had outside are all girls. Seeing Kehinde might make him bitter and I don’t trust him at all. Aramide: There is nothing he will do mum Vera: Dad is not that wicked mum; he only brags about, he can’t harm a fly. Mother: All I’m saying is we should tread carefully. I’ve lived with him for twenty four years now; I think I know him better. Me: No problem. Will you still be able to make it home today? Mother: Yes my son, others will still be waiting for me. I’ll join them soon. We saw her off while I conveyed her along with Aramide and Vera to where she joined her church members who were already in their church bus. I was surprised to see the other two women came down from the bus to greet me, eulogizing us as a twin. I guess they are the closest pal of my mother and she probably had told them who I am. We waved them off and I dropped Aramide and Vera back to her flat before I headed to Funmi’s side. I met only Funmi as Dan and Temmy has taken Sewa back to her lodge. Funmi: At least you drive home, so I want to believe it went well this time. Me: (Smiling) Yes it did. She has gone back home. Funmi: I’m happy to hear that. You will have to look for another day to fulfill your promise. Me: Which promise is that? Funmi: You said we’ll spend today together Me: we did now Funmi: But not alone. Half of the day you were moody and sad, I want a full day with happy you. Me: We weren’t dating when I made that promise you know, but now you have me all to yourself. Funmi: I know, but I still want a day with you alone. Me: No problem love. After my defense next week, we have all the time in the world. I’m thinking we should go to a waterfall or a beach, with Temmy, Rachael, Dan and Sewa. Funmi: I said a time with you alone. Me: We’ll always have that dear. Like I said, we have the whole time but I think the waterfall or beach plan will be fun. Funmi: Okay, I’m watching and expectant. Can you sleep over tonight? Me: That won’t be advisable dear Funmi: Why? I slept at your place while we were not even dating. Me: Yes we were not dating and Temmy was there, but you and I alone in the room on the day we cement our love? We are calling for William junior. I’ll sleep over sometimes but not today dear, I don’t trust myself. Funmi: Hmm, okay promise? Me: Yeah sure, why not. I will, let’s just take it step by step. The truth is I’ll love to sleep over but it’s very dangerous that night judging by the volume of emotions running through my body. Since I know myself, I had to prevent a sorry case as protection might not even come to mind in situation like this. The guys came back and we had our dinner before we left for our lodge in Dan’s Jeep. It was a fulfilling day for me and I should be able to sleep well. A day I met my biological mother and cement my love with the mother of my unborn children. But this question lingers on, “who and where is my father?” |

EPISODE ONE MFYL PR2 After the emotional hug, we both sat on the mattress discussing and narrating our different ordeals in life. It was then I realized I had it easier than she does. She grew up with the emotional torment of losing her twin brother which sometimes makes her feel lonely and neglected. Many times she was been treated like an outcast with preference always given to her younger sisters over her, coupled with so many physical abuse she suffered from her step-father. I was surprised she still got a good heart towards the man despite all she’s gone through because of him. I wondered how our mother coped with such a man for the long years they’ve stayed together. Me: How was your mother able to cope with him for this long? Aramide: Stop saying your mother Will, she’s our mother. Me: I’ll get used to it. How did she cope? Aramide: He’s her husband; I don’t think she got many options Me: There are always many options. Tell me about her. Aramide: Well for starter, she’s your mother. Me: I know, but I want to know her kind of person; is she cool or hot, and so on Aramide: Why don’t you try to get to know her by yourself? Me: I’ve never met her before and I’m really scared about that. I think having the idea of the kind of person she is will allow me to prepare my mind towards it. Aramide: She’s a cool personality, although she’s now very religious and she has always been strict. Me: Hmm, so far she’s cool I think I won’t have a problem. Aramide: Of course you won’t have a problem, she’s your mother. Me: Have you told her we’ve met? No: I’ve only told Vera Me: Who is Vera? Aramide: My younger sister. She’s our Idowu and she’s the one I wanted you to meet today. Me: She’s around? Aramide: She’s on her way here Me: Oh! I pray she meet us here Aramide: Are you not going to stay longer? Me: I’ll have to find another day we can both spend together. I want to get to know you well but I’ve promised to spend today with Funmi. Aramide: Really, are you guys now dating? Me: Something like that Aramide: At last! I’m happy to hear that, I really like her. Me: That’s obvious Aramide: Very cool. When will you like to go to mum? Me: I don’t know, maybe when I’m ready emotionally. Aramide: You are ready Will. After your project defense let’s go to her. Me: I’m not sure I want to go for now. Besides, I don’t think she wants to see me. Aramide: Why will you say that? Me: I can’t see the effort. She could have asked for my number from my mum to at least call me, but she did not. Aramide: I could have asked for your number too the day I met your mum, but I didn’t because it will look somehow for somebody to just call you out of the blue telling you she’s your mother or your sister. Would you have taken such a person seriously? Me: Of course I won’t Aramide: That’s exactly what I thought. It’s better to come to you directly. Me: But she didn’t come either. Aramide: Will, you don’t understand. She knows you are the only male child she’s got, yet she didn’t come looking for you because she was ashamed to face you. She’s not even proud of herself calling you a son. Me: Alright, I’ll go to her. Aramide: I’m happy to hear that. We’ll go after your project defense. We were still in discussion when somebody knocked at the door and entered without waiting for an answer. She has my height, my smile and looks exactly like I do, to the extent I could mistook her for a mirror. If she wasn’t a lady, she could impersonate me anywhere. I stood up staring at her while she was looking at me in awe. It took Aramide’s intervention to break the awkwardly amazing starring competition we both engaged in. Aramide: Will, meet my sister, our Idowu, Vera. Vera, this is William, my twin brother and your long awaited elder brother. Vera went down on her full knees the way a typical Yoruba lady would greet her parents or blood brothers she has seen a very long time ago. I pulled her up and gave her a hug. Me: I’m confused, who’s my twin sister among you two? Aramide: That’s the reason why I wanted you to meet. Vera: No wonder mum calls me Kehinde sometimes. I’m happy to finally meet you sir, I’ve always pray and wish for an elder brother. Me: I am privileged to meet the female version of me. How can we look so much alike when we do not share the same father? Vera: Mum said, I took after her father. Me: I’ll love to meet her father. That will be a good way to peep into my future look. Aramide: He’s long gone. How is mum Vera? Vera: We came together. She was the one that delayed me. Aramide: She’s in this town? Vera: Yes, she followed her church members down to visit their former pastor whose wife just gave birth. Aramide: Oh, that man was posted here? Vera: Yeah, today is his child naming ceremony. Mum said she might branch here if the program was concluded on time. It’s even good you are here my brother, you’ll be able to meet mum. Hearing that, I started to feel unease. I don’t know why, but I was highly nervous about meeting my biological mother. The three of us left the room to join the others in the sitting room. We met them debating who my real twin sister is between Aramide and Vera. They were all laughing and making funny comments about the situations but I just sat there by Funmi’s side, thinking about the potential meeting with my mother. Funmi: Baby, what’s wrong? (I shook my head to say nothing). Don’t give me that, you don’t look happy since you came out of the room. Me: I might be meeting my mother today. Funmi: That’s good news. Is that why you are sad? Me: I’m skeptical about the whole thing. I’m having a feeling something will go wrong. Funmi: Nothing will go wrong dear. She’s your mother and will always be happy to see you. Me: I really hope so. Let me intimate you with a little description of how we all looked that moment. Temmy was wearing a stripe shirt on a black trouser with his old school hair style a little lower than mine. Both Funmi and Sewa wore a pink top on trousers, both having a fixing hair style with dangling hear rings. Dan was on Cleverland basketball team jersey on a three-quarter trouser toned with white canvas. The guys were still having fun, joking and sometimes mimicking funny characters in movies when we had a knock on the door and three elderly women entered. They were all dressed in the same Ankara style. It was one of the women that first salute us before we could greet them. Woman1: Good afternoon here o. hope we meet you well? (We all stood up and responded to greet the three of them). Taiwo how are you? It’s been long I set my eye on you. Aramide: I’m fine ma Woman1: Is it that you don’t come home or you don’t come to church when you do? Woman2: I saw her at home like two weeks ago but she did not show up in church. Woman1: Really, Taiwo why didn’t you come to church while you were around? Aramide: I didn’t stay that long ma. I left on that Sunday. Woman1: You could have come to church still Aramide: I went to early morning service so I’ll be able to travel on time. Woman2: We don’t have early morning service in our church, maybe she attended another church. Woman1: Is that true Taiwo? You left your church to attend another church? Aramide: No, I did. . . Woman3: Shut up there Taiwo! (Facing the other women) This is what I was telling you. My child has joined bad gang. She now attends disco party they call church. Look at the caliber of people she’s dining with (pointing to Funmi and Sewa), looking just like harlots. Look at their hair and they are even wearing trousers when you are not men. This is the reason why my daughter will not come to our church. Woman2: That’s the trend in town, she wants to feel among. Woman3: Imagine that! That’s a child that was brought up from a Christian home. Woman1: Even the boys are not different from touts. The one with good hair style is wearing knickers while the other two carry heavy hair style like a mad man in the streets. Or don’t you children know it’s the mad men that have their hair uncut like this? Woman3: You see my life. Now she’ll bring one of these thugs home and say she has seeing husband. You children better rethink your life and follow the right path. Woman2: Accept Christ and serve God Woman3: (Facing me) This one’s hair is even more than my own. Woman2: Maybe he wants to weave it. Woman1: Some of them do weave hair, so I’m not surprised. Woman3: If you were to be my child, I would deal with you seriously or send you out of my house before you spoil my name if you won’t listen, because I’m sure your mother didn’t know this is how you are. Aramide: Mum, he’s actually. . . Woman3: Shut up and listen! Shameless girl, you even have gut to talk. All these while, we all kept mute and looking as if we saw ghost. I was particularly waiting for them to finish their condemnation crusade before I’ll take my leave as the fear of meeting my mother has turned to anger in me. They continued to talk and would not stop to which I couldn’t bear again. I signal to Temmy and Dan while I held Funmi’s hand as we decided to leave before we make any disrespectful remark. It was Vera that took the scene upon herself to my amazement. Vera: It’s okay mum. This is the reason why I’m planning of not coming back to your church the moment I gain admission. You preach gospel of condemnation, hatred and abuse instead of Gospel of love that Christ instituted. You instill fear and hatred in people instead of faith and hope. This wasn’t how Jesus preached to save many. Mummy I’ve told you, this your style doesn’t work any longer. Everybody is not your child. You can’t be talking to everybody like that. We are used to it but I don’t think brother Kehinde and his friends are. Woman3: Who is Kehinde? Vera: (Pointing to me) The same person you’ve been condemning all these while. If you had at least chill and look at his face properly you’ll know who he is. Aramide: You know he was really scared about meeting you and you’ve just make everything so easy for him. Woman1: (Looking at me) I’m just noticing this, he looks so much like Vera. At this point, emotion started running through my body and I’m not sure what I’ll do next if I stay. I drew Funmi along as I walk past the women even though Funmi was asking me to wait. I left the place, entered her car and asked her to drive as I’m not in the right state of mind. “Where are we going?” she asked. “To your lodge” I responded. She drove off as we left the place while Temmy, Dan and Sewa followed suit. |
Prolog Perfect Rejection Two (PR2) is the second season of My Final Year Love (MFYL). My Final Year Love narrated the love triangle between Funmilola, Janet and Uche all having similar feelings for the same guy in William, coupled with the rather smooth romance between Temmy (William’s best friend) and his fiancée Racheal (Janet’s best friend). It got more complicated with the appearance of Aramide who claimed to be William’s twin sister plus the shocking revelation that William’s mother wasn’t his biological mother. The series ended rather satisfactorily with Temmy and Racheal cementing their relationship, Janet got back her fiancé, Daniel and Sewa reuniting and the biggest of all, William and Funmi confirming their love. As sweet as that sounds, MFYL left so many questions unanswered. Questions like how Rachael and Temmy ended up; what becomes of William and Funmi’s love; William’s relationship with his newly discovered biological mother and how he was able to balance between the two mothers; the role of Daddy Orire in William’s life; and Who William and Aramide’s father is, whether he’s dead or alive. All these questions are what brought about Perfect Rejection Two (PR2) which focus mainly on the after school life of William as a result of his life on campus. ****************************************************************************** Thank you for all the comments and encouragements in season one. Like I always said, your encouragement was the fuel on which the vehicle of the series was riding on. Much more will be appreciated in this new season and I promise to be as consistence as much as I can, provide I always have data (smiles). We’ll try to stick to one episode per day. I know we might aspire for more but I think for consistency’s sake, one episode per day is feasible. Let’s avoid quoting the whole episode while commenting to secure our e-space. If you need to call my attention, just mention me (Babsopey) in your comment. Enough of the analysis jor (Laughing), let’s get it rolling. Episode One Just in a moment, but first, I need to invite my people. |

Ouch! Even October Is almost gone! Well, it's better late than never right? I had to delay the continuation of the series because of the circumstances beyond my control. The circumstances are still there but I'll bypass them as much as I can. So pardon my lateness and coming errors. I lacked inspiration to write more because I was out of job, but now I have something doing, so the inspiration is coming back. My Final Year Love, Perfect Rejection 2 starts ASAP. I'll paste the link to the new thread here as soon as I open it. Thanks. I'll tag as many as I can too. Though in fear of the spam bot, once beaten, lols. bless2tom ChemicalReaction |

The rain that started around 1:30PM and lasted for about 3 hours left the houses along Kuola annual stream flooded with so many fences collapsed while a building was almost submerged. THE fact that the downstream buildings of the annual stream were not affected shows that the flood is as a result of very poor drainage system. My opinion though. The funny part: A woman who just packed to the area was mourning her two chickens which she Said were matured enough for "Ileya". We blessed God no life was lost in this area.

xynerise:Eeya, it wasn't going to be so today hope you are not a gooner sha |
danosky91:Thanks my brother. Funny thing is I only used the names of my Real friends, either modified or bend. My best friend in service is Uche and I was surprised the day I met a female Uche. I've always thought it's masculine. The guy keep mentioning 3 tribes. What about my friends from other tribes? Like Essien from Calaba Ese from Akwa Ibom Opakrite from Kalabari Upaka (my Nigga) from Urobo I attended a state University and you can hardly find a northerner their. Please help me beg the guy not to spoil this place with tribal poison |
Ipisi:I understand where you are coming from and reason why you look in that direction. Thanks for the comment. Though I don't know which tribe you belonged to. But I'm very sorry you view this story with a tribal screen. I am never a bigot and I'm not interested in tribal war. I'm only doing this to catch fun with my new discovered talent. Please remove your tribal glasses and see everybody as human. BTW Uche is the name of one my best friend |
Sometimes the sacrifice Nigerian players, coaches and athletes is easily neglected when did not win anything. If we did not win anything in this competition, nobody should blame any athlete. I'm even surprised dream team won two games, after their humiliation and emotion embarrassment even they suffered. |
blexxyn1:Why won't I include you bro. I included everybody, just that the post will be too long. Thanks so much bro. ChemicalReaction KomonSense Eniqurl and all of great guys here including the silent readers plus guests. I appreciate everyone. Thanks a lot. |
EPISODE THIRTY MFYL (FINAL EPISODE) After the meal, I joined Sam to play PES on his system though I wasn’t good on it but I love playing it. I especially love frustrating my opponents by opponents by “killing” their good players and in turn get as many red as possible. After washing the dishes, Funmi also started to watch film on her system and asked me join her. Honestly, I prefer the PES but I just sign contract which I must honour. Sam: Bros Will, let’s finish this one first now Funmi: You don’t come now, don’t bother coming later. Me: Sam, you are a guy, you’ll understand. My relationship is not up to two hours, I’m not going to lose it to PES (We all laughed) I joined her and Sam was forced to join too as he got bored playing against the system. I received a call from Daddy Orire while we were still watching the movie. Me: Hello sir Orire: How are you Yemi? Me: I’m fine sir. Orire: I heard you were not able to get your license on Monday. Me: Yes sir, they said the process encountered a delay. Orire: Don’t mind them, it’s because I wasn’t around and their commander wasn’t there too. They will do it now and you should be able to get it by next week. Me: Okay sir, thank you sir. Orire: Which product to do you prefers; Toyota or Kia? I need you to choose quickly. Me: (Oh boy! This man is indeed buying me a car. I blocked the phone’s mouth and quickly ask Funmi) Funmi, choose one; Toyota or Kia Funmi: I prefer Toyota for the availability of the parts Me: Toyota sir Orire: Why? You don’t like Kia? Me: Sir, I’m thinking about getting the parts later Orire: Don’t worry yourself about that. I found a KIA product I like here. I’m sure you’ll like it too. Me: Okay sir. Orire: I’ll have it send to your house. You should be able to come and pick it by next week. Me: (Wao!) Thank you sir. Orire: A message will be send to you now, I need you to fill those information and send it back to the number. They needed to process the car particulars. Me: Okay sir. Thank you sir (The line went off) Funmi: What’s it? Me: Daddy Orire is getting me a car Funmi: Are you sure there is nothing personal with this man? Nobody just wake up and buy you a car out of the blue. Me: I’m confused too, but I’ll gladly take the car. I put a call through to my mum telling her what I just heard. She was happy for me but confused too. Come to think of it, this man did not plan to buy my man a car but he’s buying me a car? I’m sure there is something big to all this care as there is no smoke withouth fire. Around 1pm, Temmy called to know where I am as he, Dan and Sewa eventually joined us at Funmi’s side. Dan: Bro we are going that side together. Me: You mean to Aramide’s side? Temmy: Yeah. We felt it’s better if we are many. Me: Funny guys, am not going there to fight now. Temmy: Who knows? Me: No problem, though I only tell Aramide I’m coming with Funmi. Funmi: You told her you are coming with me? Me: Literarily she wants you to come with me. Funmi: What’s up with both of you guys? What’s your true story? It was Dan that started narrating the whole story to them. He narrated it word for word, the same way mum said it. Funmi: So mum is not your real mum? Me: That’s the reality I just found myself Funmi: Are we going to meet your real mum at Aramide’s side? Me: I don’t think so, though Aramide said there is somebody she wants me to meet. Temmy: It could be your mother Me: Sincerely, I only want to acknowledge Aramide. I’m not ready for real mother drama. Dan: If your mother is there, what will you do? Me: Honestly I don’t know. I’m not sure I’m psychologically prepared for that event. I can still take that of Aramide. Temmy: That’s why we are going together in case Me: In case what? Temmy: Just in case, you never can tell Me: Thank God there are two vehicles now so I don’t think we have any problem going together. Sewa what’s up, are you this quiet? Sewa: In-law I’m fine. You are looking good today. Me: Thanks for noticing, well I have announcement for all. Temmy: You and Funmi are now officially dating. That’s not news anymore. Dan: You eventually overcome your cowardice. Me: What? How did you guys know all that? Temmy: I have an insider you know Me: Funmilola Funmi: Baby I’m sorry, he asked about it while we were chatting and I can’t lie Temmy: Wait! You want to make it a surprise before? Shuu, your relationship is long overdue. Dan: Never the less, congrats guys. I’m happy for you both. Janet, meet your fellow daughter in law Funmi: Janet? I thought Will said Ewa Sewa: Don’t mind them, Dan always calls me Janet but Will and Temmy said they prefer Sewa. Funmi: I think I love Ewa too. You are indeed Ewa (Ewa means beauty) Sewa: Thanks dear, it’s Sewa though. We all played and joke along and I was eventually able to play PES with the guys since Funmi now have a partner in Sewa to watch the movie together. Aramide’s call came through around 3:30pm and we all set to go her side. It was as if we were going for an important function as we went in two vehicles. I drove Funmi’s corolla while Temmy drove Dan’s Jeep. It was easy to locate Aramide’s place using the well placed description she sent earlier. The building wasn’t an hostel but a 3bedroom flat rented and shared among three of them nursing students. They have a common sitting room and that’s where we all sited. Aramide and I excused ourselves into her room to have a private chat. She sat on the mattress while I settled for the only chair in the room. For a moment we were just looking at ourselves. Me: You’ve known before we met at the party right? Aramide: I know you are in this school and I know you are in 500level, studying Mechanical Engineering. I’ve been trying to look for somebody with those credentials before the party. Me: So the help at the party was a mere coincidence? Aramide: From my research, I’ve discovered you are the only Albert in 500level Mechanical Engineering, but none of your names is Kehinde. That create a doubt but nevertheless, I saw an opportunity to talk to you at the party and I took it. Me: If that incident didn’t happen, would you have still talk to me? Aramide: The incident was a spoiler. I planned meeting you the moment I saw you eneter the party hall. Me: What if I did not come to the party, because I was forced to that party? Aramide: I know I will get my chance one day. It was my fiancée that was invited to the party, he only took me along. Me: You said he’s around Aramide: Yes, he’s at his friends place. He’ll join us soon. Me: My mother said you came with your mum to our house. Aramide: Yes, that’s where I saw your picture and confirm. I even snapped it incase you’ll still not believe. (She showed me the picture on her phone) Me: She also told me you were the one looking for me, which is the reason why your mother has been on her neck. Aramide: She’s your mother too Will Me: Until she admits that, I’m not sure I can call her that for now. Aramide: Are you angry at her? Me: we’ll talk about that one later. How did you know you are a twin, because if you didn’t come looking for me I might never know? Aramide: I’ve always known because of my name Taiwo. People kept asking me where my Kehinde is and I in turn asked my mother. She told me you are dead, so I kept telling people you are no more. Me: Hmm, that speaks volume Aramide: She eventually told me the truth last year Me: Why did she? She got born again? Aramide: (Smiles) Yeah, she got born again last year but the main reason she told me was because her husband started having affair outside. Me: You mean he’s cheating on her? Aramide: It was something more than cheating. He was looking for a male child my mother could not give him. Me: I don’t understand Aramide: We are three, I have two other sisters but my mum was not able to conceive again and my Dad was keen on having a male child. Me: You call him dad, but you don’t answer his last name? Aramide: He’s the one I know as my father even though he never played it. My mum solely took care of my education. I got to know all this when his affair secret was opened. Me: Seems there is a lot this issue than we can talk now. Aramide: I'm really happy to have you as brother. I've always carried that vacuum with me, to know you are alive is a big joy to me. Me: Funny I've always wanted to be a twin. Though I would have preferred us being identical but your beauty coupled with great heart as replace that. I'm kinda loving you now. Am I permitted to hug you? Aramide: I've always dream of that dear brother We both hug in an emotional way and I felt a vacuum in me was filled up that moment. I don't know where the sudden affection I developed for her come from but I can tell I'm so much loving her I don't want to let her go. I pray I have this kind of love for my mother too, it will be sweet. -----------------------------------------*"**********************"********* Will eventually got his love Funmi and their love keep waxing stronger by day, but will they eventually end up together? William unites with His lost twin sister and develop a bond with her, but will He have the same bond with their mother? The twins know their mother but not their father, is it better for them to assume their father is dead, or should they pressurize their mother and search for their father? Who is Daddy Orire and what's his interest in William, is it because he might want to marry Will's mother or there is more to the care? Temmy and Rachael enjoyed a rather crisis free relationship in school, will they change after school or will their love story be one of those rare relationship without many drama? All these other questions to be answered in the next season titled "PERFECT REJECTION 2" which will be uploaded later. EPISODE TWENTY-NINE “What did I just do? I think I’m over reacting, I should have at least waited for her and ask her about the guy. What if I’m just being judgmental about nothing? I think I’m acting weird.” All these was still going through my mind as I walk down towards their gate only to be blocked or should I say bullied by Uche again Uche: Hey lover boy, I guess you rejected the plank. I just ignore her as I focused on my way out of the place because I’m unnecessarily getting angry. Uche did ran towards me and grab my left hand, tending to pull me back inside from the gate but I fling her hand off me Me: (Speaking angrily) Uche what’s wrong with you? What’s your problem? Uche: Oh oh, I’ve never seen you like this before. What happened? I ignored her and headed straight out of the compound. Funmi’s call did come through into my phone but I ignored it and called for a bike. I went back to my lodge but decided to drop at the eatery close to my lodge, not because I was hungry but I needed to clear my head somehow. I ordered for Fanta and was sipping it slowly when Funmi’s call came through again, but this time I terminated it. “But why am I angry? Am I sane at all?”. After this thought, my nerve calm down a little and I was able to see what’s going on around me. A text message popped up on my phone from Funmi and I reluctantly check it. It reads “Please pick my call. You are misunderstanding things”. I thought about the message and realize I was angry because I couldn’t bear the thought of losing her. She called again and I picked up this time Me: Hello Funmi: Will, where are you? Me: I’m at the lodge Funmi: You are not at the lodge. I just call Temmy and he said you are not. Please tell me where you are. Me: Don’t worry; I’ll come back to your side now. Funmi: I don’t believe that. Please tell me, I’ll come down. Me: I’m already on my way back to you Funmi: Alright, I’m waiting. I couldn’t imagine myself being emotional in the public, which is why I chose to go back to her place. I took a bike back to her side without thinking if I’m in my right senses or not. I also pray silently Uche would have left their compound or at least enter a room before I get there, so I can go to Funmi’s room with fair mind. I could sight Funmi outside their gate as the bike approaches their lodge but the guy was still with her there. She barely allowed me to come off the bike as she hugged me so tight like a wife will hug her husband she’s been waiting for a very long time. My hands were still free and it’s becoming embarrassing, so I had to embrace her too and whispered to her “we are outside in public Funmi”, to which she respond with “I don’t care”. After staying there for almost two minutes with the bike man not yet paid, she let me off while the guy paid the bike man before I could remove my wallet. We entered their compound and surprisingly Uche was no more in the compound and that’s a prayer answered. While inside, Funmi tried to force me to sit down but I remain standing while the guy stood beside the door. Funmi: Why did you leave without even seeing me? Me: I’m not really in the right mind to talk now Guy: I’ll be outside, if you need me let me know. (He left the room to give us space while I look him with a furious gaze) Funmi: (Smiling) I need you to calm down and talk. Me: You know what? I think I’m out of my mind and I’m going crazy. I shouldn’t be angry but I am, I shouldn’t have left like that but I did? Is that normal? Funmi: (Still smiling) Yes you are normal, just cool down and stop rushing the words. Me: The thing is I don’t really like dragging or fighting or even competing in situations like this, maybe that’s why I’m behaving like I’m crazy. Funmi: (Still smiling) Maybe you are crazy Me: Funmi I’m sorry I have to say this but I. . . Funmi: Are you really sorry? Me: (Sighs) That’s true, I’m not sorry about it. I love you Funmi and I think I’m crazy about it because the more I see you, the more I love you. You’ve filled my thought to the extent that removing you will automatically turn my mind into a vacuum. I love you so much I want you to be the person I’ll be waking up to see every morning for the rest of my life. Funmi: Meaning I can’t travel again, even you won’t be able to travel and sleep? Me: Funmi, if you know the temperature of my mind now, you’ll realize I’m serious and more real than magma. But I can’t compete with that guy. Funmi: You don’t have to compete with him Will, you have nobody to compete with except yourself. Me: I don’t understand. Funmi: (Stood up and face me) Will, do you have idea how long I’ve been waiting for you to come to me? You nearly crushed my heart. Me: I’m sorry. I know I pushed you too much; I only wanted to be sure Funmi: And you are sure now? Me: One thousand percent and still counting. I love you so much I don’t know how to say it. I’m in love with you. Funmi: I told you I never had a boyfriend before. Me: I’m not asking you to be my girlfriend Funmi (I went down with one knee on the ground and the other raised up in seven shape) I’m sorry I’m not too foreign, I should have get a ring, but I’m asking you from the bottom of my heart representing the conference of cells and organs in my body. Will you be my Favour from the Lord and marry me? She look at me with a sorry face, shook her head in a “NO” manner and knee down with me. Funmi: I’ve always and will always love you Will. Yes, I’ll be your wife. She hugged me passionately and gave me a quick lip kiss as the guy enters into the room clapping his hands as if he’s been listening to all our conversation. Guy: Bros, I’ve learnt like two more lines from you today. Mehn I love those lines. (Demonstrating with his hand) “You out of me equals vacuum” Bravo! I was totally confused as Funmi laughs on. We both stood up releasing each other from the hug. The guy then hugged her and says; Guy: Congratulations, at last. Funmi: Will, meet my cousin Samson, he’s a pre-degree student Samson: (I was still looking like a ghost as the guy shook my hand) Congrats bros Will. But your “wahala” much o. You just make sis to be crying and wishing every day. Me: She cried? Samson: (Funmi tried to cover his mouth) Many times bros Will. Me: (I pulled her to me and used my hand to trace her face like I’m wiping tears) Well that’s the last time you’ll ever cry because of me. I won’t be an onion that makes you cry, neither will I be an orange that pains you in the eye. I’ll be your apple, so that you can eat me totally and completely with the peel, without pain. (She placed her head on my chest and hugs me still) Samson: Bros Will, that’s another line o. Apple and not onions mehn. I think I’ll have you tutor me on these lines. By the way, call me Sam, it is sweet that way. Me: Thank you Sam, you did a very good job making me jealous. Mehn I nearly ran mad. Sam: Anything for my angelic sister. Funmi: Were you that threatened? Me: I was really threatened and almost got discouraged. I never got a second on your DP but you kept a guy there for more than a week. Funmi: (Laughs) I didn’t know that will get you until you called. I thought his young face will ring a bell to you Me: He’s got no young face. Dude is mature already Sam: (Speaking from the other end of the room) I’m still young o, don’t spoil market for me. Me: But why did you have to go that far? Funmi: I got really upset about those messages and you were not deleting them. It’s more like you are enjoying it. Me: To be fair, I was a bit enjoying it. Funmi: When Temmy told me you were sick and did not call me, I knew I’m losing you and had to try again. Me: Hmm. I’m sorry you go through that emotional stress. Funmi: I only hope there is no more Janet, because I can’t compete too. Me: Janet is out of the picture. She’s having her introduction soon. Funmi: She was engaged? Me: Yeah she is. There is one person you’ll have to deal with though Funmi: Who is that? Me: Uche Funmi: Uche the party girl? Me: Yeah Funmi: She’s on you too? Me: I don’t really know, but she’s troublesome. She invited me to a party tonight in their hostel and said she’ll make sure I come. Funmi: I don’t trust that babe. Nobody in this hostel trusts her friends she do come visit. They are capable of anything, so you’ll have to be careful of her. Me: After project defense, she’ll be totally deleted. Funmi: Good. Let me set food for you now. Me: Wait I have an announcement to make before that Funmi: I’m listening Me: (I used my right hand as microphone) Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, old and young, indigenes and foreigners, I your boy “Whatever that means to you” is hereby declaring I have gotten my baby dove, the angel to which my story is on, my heart desire, it’s no other person than my one and only Oluwafunmilola.(She started to blush) I can’t hear you clap, (Now she’s laughing) keep clapping, yes, that’s more like it(seriously laughing as Sam started clapping). Be it known to you, that as from today onward, she ceased to be just Funmi again Funmi: Really? Me: She’s now my baby dove Funmi: Hun hun Me: My sugar Funmi: Oh yeah! Me: My honey Funmi: We are getting there Me: And my. . . (I was thinking of what to say) Sam: Fuel don finish? Me: My Superlative Angel of Everything. I love you so much Oluwafunmilola Funmi: I love you with everything William Opeyemi Albert. Time to eat sir That was how I eventually seal my love with Funmi, and can only pray and work towards making the relationship work. I am now in good frame of mind to go to Aramide, with Funmi by my side; I think I can face whatever I meet there. |
Nothing last forever and I don't love too long stuffs. Shoki lobe oge BTW Funmi asked me to tell you that Will ain't get no ball to take care of her. He is not rich and can't manage her. Na play o. Lol I'm dropping the last two episodes of My Final Year Love today. Thank you so much for your believe and encouragement. I love you so much. |
EPISODE TWENTY-EIGHT MFYL I put a call through to Janet and asked her to meet me so we can talk. I’m really curious about what she said we have to discuss and I hope it’s not what will jeopardize my journey with Funmi. She did come and we went to a remote place to talk. Only God knows what the matter is that is this serious. Here we go. . . Me: Thanks for the calls Janet, I really . . . Janet: You are welcome sweetheart. How is mum? Me: (She just called me sweetheart, well that’s not new but she also called my mother mum, that’s new) She’s fine thanks. You said we have serious issue to discuss, hope all is well? Janet: We are fine Will, I’m just happy to see you. Me: I’m happy to see you too, but how do you mean we are fine? Janet: (Smiles) Firstly I want to apologize to you for not being truthful and open. Me: (Okay, the matter has started) Hmm, so you never love me, you were just playing with my brain (I was praying she’ll say “No, I never love you”) Janet: Far from that. I love you so much, and I still do. Me: (Oh God, why now. Don’t love me, ah!) So why are you sorry? Janet: I never told you I was in a serious relationship. I have a fiancée Me: (That’s a little relief) At last Janet. Why are you just admitting it now? Janet: It wasn’t easy for me Will. I really love you and my fiancée was always giving me reason to love you more, by breaking our communication and you were always in reach. Imagine we only spoke once throughout last month. As much as I love him, I felt I’m losing him so I had to protect myself. That’s why I sound so desperate. It’s because I didn’t want to lose at both ends and it’s the reason I told you no that time. Me: I think I understand now. I’m sorry about your relationship but it could be he’s always busy. Janet: Yes, that’s always the excuse, but I got tired of it last two weeks and broke up with him and then he suddenly find time to call me every day. Me: Hmm, why don’t you forgive him (I have to push that line so she can let me be) Janet: Do I have option, when almost all his family members were begging me. Me: (It’s turning to good news gradually) His whole family? Janet: Close to that. At least I receive his mum’s call every day now. Me: Oh! It’s good the mother like you Janet: Yes, I love that fact too. We’ll be having our introduction next month, he’s coming home Me: (Finally brethren, a good news) Wao! That’s cool. Congratulations (In my heart I am dancing and singing thank you Lord, “mobo”) Janet: Thanks Will. I’m sorry about how I’ve always been to you. I really do like you and wish I can be your woman. Sometimes I wish I could have it all Me: (If this is a dream, nobody should dare wake me up) I like you too Jane. I really do, but I hate to snatch somebody’s babe. Janet: Can we still be good friends with no strings attached? Me: (All strings thrown into the ocean with the Egyptians) Are you asking that? I’m going to be at your wedding dancing like a crazy dude Janet: (We both laughed) Thanks Will, you are a nice guy Me: Noooo, I’m not nice. I preferred to be call good and cool. Janet: Funny. You are a good guy Me: Perfect if you add cool to it. So how do we celebrate your introduction? That was how I got saved from Janet’s claw, at least according to her words. The beauty of the whole situation was that we were both happy at the end. She got her man fully back and I got Funmi. Wait! I mean I got to woo Funmi alone and I’m going to do that tomorrow before I go to Aramide’s side. I better get my girl before they turn my mood upside down. The funny thing is I really don’t understand what’s going on, neither do I really believe Janet. It looks more like a script play than realty to me. How can somebody who was on my neck last two weeks, if not for exams, suddenly change in a dramatic fashion like this. Until I see her introduction pictures, I’m going to be careful of her. Truth is the situation is a little scary to me. Adding the misery that she held my hand from our conversation spot down to her lodge where she gave me a romantic hug, capping it with a kiss or you say peck but very close to my mouth. I have reason to be scared. I got home to meet Adesewa who was already in our room. Sometimes it’s funny how you’ll be in the same school and level with somebody and you’ve never sighted each other before, for 5years. If I had seen Sewa before, then the picture has obviously been erased from my data bank. She’s tall and beautiful, almost of the same height as Dan. Her smile keeps creating bubbles of love all around the room. She reminded me of no other person than Funmi. How was I really distracted from Funmi? She’s cool, down to earth, not proud and obviously got something for a financially average guy in me. What the hell is wrong with me? If I lose this lady, I might regret it every day. I got lost in this thought and didn’t even know my phone was ringing. It was like I’m daydreaming. Temmy: (Shouted on top of his voice) William what’s wrong with you? Can’t you hear your phone ringing? Me: (Back to consciousness. I checked the phone and it’s Funmi, but the call was missed before I could pick it.) I sincerely do not hear it ring. Temmy: What happened where you went to? Hope all is well? Me: All is mysteriously well or should I say mythically well. Temmy: Hmm, I guess we’ll talk later Me: Sure bro. Hello guys, is this my in-law to be? (Facing Adesewa) Dan: Janet, meet my brother. We were born the same day Sewa: You were the one speaking to me on phone right? Me: They just told me I’m the one, I myself did not know (We all laughed). How are you doing? Sewa: I’m great. Thanks for the call. If not for you I wouldn’t have picked his call. Me: The pleasure is mine and I could see why Dan can’t get his mind off you. I bow for your royal beauty, your majesty (I bend my head down in Korean style) Sewa: (Smiling) Thanks a lot. Me: Don’t give my brother the silent treatment again o, you nearly kill him. We are almost going to hire search party, just to locate you. Sewa: Don’t mind him. He knew what he did and how he can resolve it but was forming hard. Dan: Common baby, I did but you still were not picking up Sewa: Leave me jor (She used her hand to cover his mouth) Me: Well you now have somebody you can report his head to. Tell me he did rubbish and I’ll kick butt We all laughed and continue chatting till my phone rang again from the same person and I excused my self Me: Hello Funmi Funmi: Why are you not picking my calls, was it because I did not pick earlier. Me: No, I wanted to pick it but. . . Funmi: I wasn’t with my phone that time and you didn’t even bother to try again Me: Funmi you are angry Funmi: Yes I am very angry Me: Cool down. I’m sorry okay Funmi: When are you coming to my side? Me: Tomorrow morning Funmi: Too far, too late Me: It’s already late. I can’t make it back on time if I come this evening. Funmi: You’ll go back with my car Me: What if I give you the whole of tomorrow. Funmi: Whole of tomorrow? Me: Yeah, we’ll be together throughout. I want you to follow me somewhere Funmi: I’ll agree on one condition Me: Which is? Funmi: That you’ll have breakfast here, before 9am. Me: Done! Funmi: Good bye. The way she put her words can only make you love her more. I rose up earlier the following morning, had my bath and set to leave. Dan offered I go with his jeep but I declined because her babe might see it and make funny comments to her friends like, “that’s my boyfriend’s car he’s riding”. I don’t trust lady in that regard, because I don’t think they see it as wrong. I received a call from Aramide that morning before I stepped out. Aramide: Hi Will Me: Good morning. How are you? Aramide: I’m fine and you? Me: I’m good, what’s up? Aramide: I’ll send the description to you now. You can come later in the evening. There is somebody I want you to meet. Me: Who is the person? Aramide: When you come, you’ll know the person Me: I’ve been getting a lot of that of recent but I’m not sure I want to go through it again. Aramide: Common Will, it’s somebody you’ll love to meet. I promise you won’t regret it Me: It’s not about regret; it’s about how it will affect me Aramide: Don’t worry will. Just come Me: Give me a specific time Aramide: 4pm would be okay Me: Alright, can I come with somebody? Aramide: Who are you coming with, Funmi? I’ll prefer you come with her. Me: (Is this girl a witch, how can she guess?) There is something between you and Funmi. Anyway see you in the evening. I got off the call with her and headed to Funmi’s place. Entering through their gate I met with the devil and it was then I remembered my prayer that morning was too short. I tried avoiding her but you know devil will always be devil. Uche: Will, here you are. Me: Uche Uche, how are you? Uche: Don’t Uche me. You promised you’ll come for the party but you did not show up. Me: And I can’t remember receiving your call asking me why. Anyway, I was there in spirit. If you were in spirit you would have seen me. Uche: Who asked for your spirit to come? You really offend and it’s not good. Me: Don’t be offended, I had to travel that day. It was urgent Uche: So how will you make it up to me? Me: I’ve said I’m sorry now. Uche: I know but you have to make it up to me Me: (I check the term and it’s few minutes to 9am. Damn! Why must it always be Uche whenever I want to do something like this?) Okay what do you want? Uche: There is a party in my lodge today. It’s organized for the final year students of my hostel. Come to the party and I won’t be angry again. Me: When is the party? Uche: 10pm till mama calls Me: Night party? I went to a day party and I was “planked”, now you want me to go to a night party? Choose another thing. Uche: It will be fun. Everybody in this hostel is coming Me: What’s my own with that? Uche: Including your rich friend you are visiting. Me: What’s your own about who I come to visit? Uche: Will you are a bad boy! You have Janet and you are still coming here to meet another babe Me: Who told you I’m dating Janet. You better go and do your homework. Aproko. Uche: I will be expecting you o. Me: You better choose another thing because no supervisor can force me down this time around. Uche: You will see. I’ll make sure you come and by the way, you might really need a plank or receive one this morning because your rich girlfriend’s boyfriend slept over and he’s still there. Me: Uche bye. What’s your concern? Uche: Bring wine o I left her there before she’ll spoil my mood. I knocked at Funmi’s door and nobody answered. I felt the music being played so loudly was the reason why she could not hear my knock. Come to think of it, loud music is unlike Funmi, she’s the quiet type. Something is definitely not right. I banged the door again and an angry male voice responded from the inside. He lowered the music and opened the door. Lo and behold, it’s that new guy she was following around. Guy: Good morning, please come in. Me: (How come he change his tone and expression seeing me) Please where is Funmi? Guy: She’s in the bathroom Me: Please tell her I come by. Thank you. I left the place before the guy could make any comment *****Announcement***** *****the next or next two episodes is the final episode(s) of this season. EPISODE TWENTY-SEVEN MFYL While we were talking and sharing our different experiences and encounters, Funmi’s call entered. Me: Please excuse me (I picked the call) Hello Funmi. Funmi: Will how are you? Me: I’m fine and you? Funmi: I’m good. I just finish eating pounded yam. Me: Really? Same here. Funmi: Hmm, Mummy’s boy. Will, I’ll be going back to school tomorrow Me: That’s fast Funmi: Dad said he’s leading his officials to a conference, early tomorrow morning. Me: All the company’s top officials are going? Funmi: I think so. According to him, they’ll be joined by those in Lagos Me: I see, Daddy Orire said the same thing. Try asking your dad if he knows him Funmi: I will ask him but he’s asleep now and I’m in my room already. Me: No problem. Will I see you before you leave? Funmi: Probably not. They are leaving by 9am and I’ll love to leave before then because I don’t know anybody here. When are you going back to school? Me: Monday Funmi: Make it Sunday now Me: I have something to do on Monday. Funmi: Alright. I’ll be waiting for you to come. Me: I’ll join you on Monday don’t worry (Line dropped) Dan: Girl friend? Me: Most likely yes Dan: Why most likely? Me: It’s not yet official Dan: Why the wait? Me: Confusion Dan: Better be sure. By the way I’ll love to follow you down to your school when you are leaving. Me: No problem. You’ve got somebody there? Dan: I’ve got you. My girlfriend is there and she’s not been picking my calls for some days now. Me: You guys fought? Dan: No, I played a wrong prank on her and I’ve not been too serious Me: You don’t love her that much? Dan: With all my heart, I’m planning getting married to her latest next year. Me: You’ve proposed? Dan: From day one. She’s a great lady really. Will you help me locate her, because she’s not picking my calls? Me: Positive, I’m done with my papers, so there is time Dan: You should also go for your lady and stop being a coward. Me: Coward? Far from it (My phone rand and it’s Janet) see the confusion I’m talking about Dan: Another babe? Me: Something close to that (I picked the call) Hello Janet: Hello Will. Sorry we were not able to talk for long the other time. Somebody was explaining stuffs for me. Me: No problem, hope you are good? Janet: I am good but missing you Me: I just left today now and stop saying that. Janet: I can’t miss you? By the way, we have serious issue to talk about Me: What is that? Janet: When you come back. Good night. (The line went off) Dan: You don’t love this one Me: Why did you say that? Dan: Stop deceiving yourself, the tone at which you spoke with the first lady is very different. It was more like you were expecting her call, but this? If you have your way, you’ll neglect the call. Me: Bros, are you merlin or something that is reading mind? Dan: It’s obvious and I’ve been there, I know how it works. We talked more and more about girls and later jump to football till we slept off. I tried waking up early the following day (Saturday) but was only up by 8:30am. My phone already has six missed calls, all from Funmi. I returned the call and have my prayers after that before heading to the bathroom. I got to the sitting room only to discover mum has already prepared breakfast and Dan is set. We have our breakfast and left for FRSC office in Dan’s Jeep with me driving because he thought I know the city’s navigation than he does. I was surprised everything needed to be done has already been done before we got there. I guess Daddy Orire eventually made the call he promised to make. I didn’t know he’s that influential of a person because of his simplicity. I filled the necessary forms and before an hour we were done. I was told to come for it on Monday contrary to my believe that I’ll have to wait for around 21 days and go true driving training since it’s a first time license. We left the place and I showed Dan around the city at his request before we finally went back home. We got back to school by Monday afternoon but I was not able to get the license. They claim the process encountered a delay. I’ll go back there next two weeks when at least the normal 21 days would have been completed by then. I introduced Dan to Temmy and narrated my twist of a story to him. He was so surprised with the revelations because he has never heard of it from his parent before, though we grew together. Maybe that’s because they don’t know. I forgot to branch his side at home but was relieved when he told me they’ve sent it through another person on Sunday. We began the ultimate search for Dan’s girlfriend and it was Temmy that asked the question I’ve refused to ask all these while Temmy: What’s the girls’ name? Dan: Janet Temmy/Me: Janet? Dan: Yes Janet, any problem? (Temmy and I looked at each other) Temmy: No problem, which level is she? Dan: 500 level but I always forget her department. The situation is beginning to have K leg. How do we tell Dan that his darling Janet has been on my neck since? How do I tell him, I once kissed her when our romantic was hot? Temmy and I used style to excuse ourselves out leaving only Dan inside. Me: Temmy are you thinking what I’m thinking? Temmy: I’m confused o. It must not be. Me: But their story is not totally matched Temmy: What are the points? Me: Janet broke up with her fiancée, but Dan’s girlfriend was just not picking calls. Temmy: What if not picking up means break up to her? Me: That’s ridiculous, who break up like that Temmy: Was Dan’s family poor before he left for abroad? Me: I really don’t know much about the family but I don’t think they were ever poor. Temmy: There is still possibility he’s talking about Janet Me: I have an idea, let’s show him a picture of Janet and see if she’s the one Temmy: That sounds good, but what if she’s the one, what will you do? Me: Mehn! This matter tie wrapper o. Don’t worry something will come up. Temmy: I pray o, because it won’t be good to spoil Janet’s reputation with him We both went inside only to find Dan staring at a picture from our album. The picture has four ladies, Janet, Rachael and two of their friends one of which is no more in our school. Dan: Wao! I can’t believe this Me: (We look at the picture and were like, Oh Boy!) What’s up with the picture? Dan: Who is this lady? (Pointing to their friend that wasn’t in the school anymore) Me: (My mind first came down from Everest it was before) I don’t know her name. We only know these two (Pointing to Janet and Rachael) Dan: The babe is damn beautiful Temmy: Is that what you said you can’t believe? Dan: Are you guys blind? Can I get this babe’s digits? Temmy: So that we can start searching for her too right? I thought you knew somebody in the picture. Dan: For where? They are not familiar at all; I just love this babe’s shape. We showed him like three other pictures where she can see Janet but he wasn’t showing any sign of knowing her, and that come as a relief. Me: Dan, you will have to give us more details about your babe. We can’t be asking every 500level students now. What other names does she answer? Dan: She’s also Adesewa, but I prefer calling her Janet. Temmy: Sewa will do for us. By the way, you said she wasn’t picking your calls? Dan: Yes Temmy: Have you tried calling her with another line? Dan: Oh my! That’s true Me: Let’s use my line He entered the number and I dialed it. She did pick up without delay Me: Hello Janet Adesewa Sewa: Hello, who is this? Me: My name is Will, how are you doing? Sewa: I’m fine. Please I don’t know any Will Me: I know you don’t and that’s why I’m offended Sewa: I’m so sorry; maybe I’ve mixed it up or lost your number. Can you describe yourself better please? Me: Well, it’s not too cool with the fact you are going to be my in-law soon Sewa: In-law? Please who am I speaking with? Me: Like I said, I’m Will. I’m Daniels brother. Sewa: In-law, Daniel. Wait! You mean Dan, my Dan? How do you know him and how do I know you are not a scam? Me: He’s right beside me here right in your school. He’ll call you immediately after this call, please pick up this time. Will you? Sewa: (Laughing) This is funny. Okay I will pick up. Me: Thank you Adesewa I asked Dan to call her and she did pick up but I snatched the phone from him Sewa: Hello Dan, are you really in my school? Me: Cool down love bird, it stills me your future in-law. I’m just confirming if it’s you too Sewa: (Laughing) Please don’t trick me, is he really there? Where are you guys? Me: I’ll give the phone to him; tell him how we can get to your side. I handled the phone over to Dan and they continue the conversation. My own phone did ring and it was my now confirmed twin sister. Me: Hello Aramide Aramide: Will, are you back? Me: Yeah I’m back. Can you come over? Aramide? That will be tomorrow and I’ll love it if you can come to my side. Me: No problem, just send me the details. Aramide: I’ll do that now. How is Funmi? Me: Did Funmi bribe you? She’s fine and how is Bankole Aramide: He’s around Me: Good, I’ll see tomorrow then. Aramide: By God’s grace. Take care of yourself. Bye. I got off the call with Aramide but Daniel was still on call with his Sewa. He later handled the phone over to me to describe to her how she’ll get to our hostel. I put a call through to Janet and asked her to meet me so we can talk. I’m really curious about what she said we have to discuss and I hope it’s not what will jeopardize my journey with Funmi. She did come and we went to a remote place to talk. Only God knows what the matter is that is this serious. Here we go. . . |
EPISODE TWENTY SIX Debby: So what happened mum? Exchange of child? Mum: No. we had the naming ceremony of my son and I was the one that named you Daniel. Unfortunately after two months, I was deceived by your father and his wife, your step mother. They stole you away from me and I never get to see you or them again until last two years that your step mother called me to tell me you are now in abroad. She told me her conscience won’t let her rest and she apologized. That was how she linked us together before I started talking with my own son. The whole atmosphere turned highly emotional and I could see both mum and Dan were almost crying. I was just there, not knowing what to say or how my own case will turn. I was eager to know how I ended up here and where I’m going to after now, but I couldn’t say a word. Mum: Opeyemi, Deborah, this is your brother Daniel. He’s my first child. Dan: I’m really sorry mum, I got to know she wasn’t my mother that time she linked us, because she has always been nice to me and never let me doubt her, not for a moment. Mum: Don’t worry dear, she’s still your mother, you only have two mothers now. Seeing how good you look and how much they’ve taken care of you, I forgive them totally. Debby: What about my big brother? (All these while I was totally silent, my head pointing down with so many thoughts running through my head) Mum: Opeyemi is my son, my consolation. He’s the reason the thought of losing Daniel did not kill me. During all these trying times, your father (pointing to Debby), my beloved husband never left me. He loves me still and we got married some months after my son was kidnapped. All this while, he was also supporting the mother of the twins, your biological mother (pointing to me). He couldn’t leave them just like that because the twins were his brothers’ children, even though their father had ran to Ghana then. Your mother fell in love with another man and the new man said he can’t afford to take care of two kids that are not his. They dragged the issue for a while but the man insisted he’s only going to take care of the girl, that the mother should take the boy to his father’s family. My husband is the only family around but he rejected it vehemently, saying the mother should take care of her children. Some days after that, the unimaginable happened. Your mother has access to our house then, because my husband wants her to come home and take whatever she want anytime, whether we are at home or not. She used her key to enter our house one day while we were away, and drop you Kehinde Opeyemi Albert on our three sitter chair in the sitting room and left the town with her man and your twin sister Taiwo Aramide Albert. We never heard from her anymore until now that she’s looking for you. Me: Aramide? Mum: Yes, you are Kehinde but my husband prefers to call you William. We also decided to remove Kehinde from your official name to avoid questions like “where is Taye?” And you have been a source joy to me and your father since then. You never gave us problem. Me: So I am the rejected and dumped son. Mum: No dear, you were not rejected, its circumstances beyond her control. You know it’s not very easy to take care of twins, especially when one is not well doing. Me: I get it mum, she preferred her husband to me. Why can’t the man marry her with the two children? At least I’ve read of men who marry a lady with three kids. By the way, my father was supporting her financially. Mum: Don’t think that way dear. That’s how God wanted it to be. If she didn’t reject you I wouldn’t have you dear. Me: Mum, I’m really happy you are my mother and not she (tears already rolling out of my eye). What if you rejected me, only God know where I would be by now. Mum if her husband had said “Let’s throw him in a river or dump him in a bush”, she would have done it. Mum: Don’t create anger in your heart dear. You know God wouldn’t want that. Me: You are the only mother I have mum, I don’t know any other person, nobody should look for me. Not even my supposed Father. Your husband is my father and he’s dead! Tears has already filled my eye as I left them in the sitting room and headed into my room. I laid myself on the bed not knowing what to even think about. I remembered Aramide and wondered how she got to know who I was. I don’t think it was a mere coincidence, it’s more like she knows what she was doing. I was going to develop hatred for her but on a second thought, it wasn’t her choice to leave me, neither was it her choice to be chosen by my mother. Can I really forgive my mother? What kind of mother chose to leave her child for the love of another man? What sort of man make a mother chose between her children? What kind of man leaves his fiancé he impregnated for whatever reason it was and never return? All these questions keep pumping in my heart leading to anger and hatred. It was Debby’s entry into the room that brought me back from the state of deep thought. Debby: BB, are you still crying? Me: Not at all. I’m good now. Debby: You are still my BB you know. Nothing will ever change that. Me: (I smiled) Yeah, we are biologically cousins, so I’m still your brother. Debby: I don’t agree with that. You are forever my BB not one cousin or whatever. I love you so much. Me: I love you too sweetheart (we hugged) Debby: Mum is crying, will you go to her? Me: She’s crying? I caused that, let me go to her. As I was about to leave the room, mum entered while Debby excused us. Me: Mum I’m sorry I made you cry. Mum: No my son, you didn’t. I could imagine what you are going through. Just be strong for me okay. I’m still your mother and I’ll be with you. If you are not ready to go through it you can wait a little, but always remember I love you. Me: Thank you so much mum, for everything. I really wish you did not tell me this. You are my perfect mother and I don’t want anybody to share that with you. I don’t want a second mother. Mum: You’ll have to forgive your parents so that you can have peace of mind. Remember you are a Christian, you must always forgive. Me: I’ll forgive them mum. I’ll keep trying. Mum: Your biological mother came looking for you last month. She’s been calling me asking about you for the past five months. Though I don’t know how she got hold of my number or where I am, but I’ve always told her to stay away from you. I told her your credentials in school but warned her off you. My conscience couldn’t take it anymore when she said your sister is seriously searching for you. They both came here last month. Me: You mean Aramide? Mum: Yeah, you’ve met? Me: Yeah, she gave me all these theories but I never believed her Mum: I guess she locate you from the description I gave her mother some months ago. She did saw your pictures when they came here but she did not tell me she has located you. Me: No wonder she said her curiosity has been confirmed true when she called me earlier. The way she catered for me while I was ill last week was exceptional. Mum: You were ill and you never told me? Me: I’m fine mum, I can’t be disturbing you every time. Mum: Don’t ever do that again! You want to kill me? Me: Oh Oh, it was just small malaria Mum: Small malaria and you needed being catered for? Don’t do it again. Me: I’ve heard you mum. I’m sorry Mum: I better check you before you leave. Me: It’s not up to that. I’m very fine now. Mum, what should I do when I see her? I mean my biological mother. Mum: Love her, hug her, forgive her and make her happy. Me: Hmm, Just like that? I don’t think it will be that easy. Mum: It will be, just make up your mind to love and forgive her. When you and your sister get along together, bring her home. She’s my daughter too. Your father would have wanted her here. Me: Okay mum. You said you don’t recognize my biological father? Not even a picture? Mum: No, I did not get to meet him before he left, and your father never showed me any picture of his. Me: You once told me my father only adopt me when he got married to you, that my real father died when you were pregnant of me, why? Mum: When your father died, so many people will start saying what they ought not to and you were still very young. I couldn’t risk putting you through that trauma because you weren’t matured enough to take it. I had to give you something to hold on to, something you can relate to if people start saying rubbish. I knew a day like this will surely come. Me: I understand mum. Thanks a lot and I’m happy you have your son back. Mum: I’m happy he’s okay and that I can see him again. It’s a great joy for me. He’s just back from abroad last month. He bought me that sienna you see outside. Me: Wao! That’s great, but I’ll buy mine for you too. Mum: And I will ride it with pride my dear. He want to sleep here with you, will it be okay? Me: Sure mum, He’s a brother now. I think sharing birthday with him makes it look perfect. He’s like our triplet. Mum: Okay dear. You can come out a little before you sleep. Me: I’ll just stay here and think till I sleep. Mum: Alright. Daddy Orire said he asked you to go for your driver’s license tomorrow. Make sure you go there early. Me: I will mum, good night. She left the room and I was sent back to the planet of thought. How will my mother look like? Will she be nice? I started creating so many images of her on my head using Aramide as prototype. It’s somehow relieving to know the truth but this truth has raised many questions than answers. The biggest of all the questions is who my father is? I was still in this thought when Dan knocked and entered the room. Dan: BB Will Me: (laughing) Better remove the BB, it’s exclusive for Debby. Dan: If she calls you BB, what is she going to be calling me? Me: Maybe Whatsapp or Skype (We both laughed) Dan: I’m happy you are laughing bro. You are really strong. I thought my case was unfair until I heard yours. Mehn you try. Me: I’m not the star here, mum is the super star. Dan: It’s nice to have two mothers, two cool mothers. Me: That’s my fear. I’ve not met the other one and I’m scared she might not be nice, though my sister seem nice. Dan: You are his son, of course she’ll be nice. |
EPISODE TWENTY-FIVE MFYL That was how the atmosphere graduated into a romantic one. I wish I could let the cat out of the bag that moment, but it will be a decision made out of emotion and not proper thought, besides she's still driving. As I was thinking about this, two messages entered my phone in succession, the second one is from Janet. I had to read it with code so that Funmi won't guess the message is from her. I just speak out "This network people and their rubbish messages". Her message read "Hello Will, I tried calling you but wasn't going, I guess you are already on the road. Please let me know when you get home. Love you, take care". I quickly went to options and delete the message before Funmi could sight foul play if she checks my phone. But her message brought my confusion back for a moment. Janet is no longer engaged and Funmi is back, though I've not asked her about her new guy but she has not receive nor make any call since the journey started and might mean they are not dating indeed. I decided to hold my plan for now to ascertain if I know what I'm doing. Few minutes later, we got to our destination and she offered to drop me at home but I declined and decided to take bike down. It will not be sweet for her to know my house like that, mum might see her and like her immediately, and I know what that means. While waiting for bike, I put a call through to Temmy and then Janet telling them I'm home. Funmi also called to tell me she has seen her dad while I was on bike going home. I met a rather changed house I almost did not recognize, as the fence has been raised round the house which is now beautifully painted. Before I could knock on the gate, my younger sister Deborah (I call her Debby) sighted me and rushed down to open the gate. She's my only sibling and the only biological child of my step father. She's already in 300 level studying computer science in another school. It's been very long since we last see each other, because I did not come home after first semesters' break for my project. "My BB is here" she shouted. She calls me BB or MBB meaning big brother or my big brother. I could sight two cars packed right in the compound, both of them very new and beautiful. A black Lexus Jeep and a blue Toyota cienna. Debby: BB I've missed you a lot (She hugs me while collecting my bag) Me: I've missed you too Debby. Why is it you don't call at all? Debby: I do call now Me: and when I call you don't pick nor return the calls. Debby: My phone screen got spoilt so I couldn't see anything on it. Me: That new phone? Debby: It's no more new BB, it's over eight months. I've gotten another one Me: Who bought it for you? Debby: Mum sent me some then I added the remaining Me: Where did you get the remaining? Debby: hmm BB, we'll talk about that later Me: Where is mum? Debby: she's in the kitchen Me: She said she wanted me to meet someone. Who is the person? Debby: He's inside, he came with this cars Me: Is he selling cars? Debby: I'm not sure, I think he bought that cienna for mum. Let's go inside. We entered the sitting room and met a guy wearing a blue Chelsea long-sleeved Jersey on a blue Jean. Well it's good he's a Chelsea fan, at least we have a common ground even if we eventually disagree on other things. Sighting me, he stood up and shook my hand with a big smile. Guy: So this is Opeyemi, I've seen your pictures and heard a lot about you. How was your journey? Debby: Yes he's my first love. It's only mum that calls him by that name. You can call him William or better still, Will as his friends do call him. To me exclusively, he's my BB Guy: Like Blackberry? Debby: (we all laughed) it's means my Big Brother Guy: Nice meeting you BB Will Me: (smiling) Nice meeting you and you are? Guy: Daniel, call me Dan Me: Alright Dan Up Chelsea Dan: For life bro. You are a Chelsea fan? Me: Till death and to be continued in heaven (we both laughed) Dan: That's cool, you watch the last match? Me: No I couldn't, I've got books to cover for my exams then, though I was following it online. I read Hazard scored two Dan: Yeah, you needed to see his first goal. Dude went through like the whole team, I was like who is this guy? Debby: We have started o. Football every time every where. (we both laughed) Me: Don't mind her we'll talk about the match later. Where is my mother? I could hear her singing from the kitchen. She's obviously happy as she always sing when she's in that mood. I went to her to greet her and discovered she was frying meat and of course even she knows I must taste it by taking one. After that, she proceed to make a wonderful pounded yam with the help of Debby while I discuss Chelsea and soccer in general with Dan. After dinner, my mums phone rang and I think it's daddy Orire. They spoke for a while and I could hear her saying "he's around" before she handed the phone over to me saying he wanted to speak to me. Me: Hello Sir Orire: Hello Yemi, I heard you are done with your papers Me: Yes sir, I'm only left with project defense Orire: That's good. Let me know when you are about to be mobilize for NYSC so we can work it where one of our company's branch is. Me: (Though I'll love my freedom during service but it's not a bad idea if the company is in the East or South-South part of the country) Okay Sir Orire: My daughter Lola is here, I will like the two of you to meet but we, the officials of my place of work are going for a conference tomorrow and will not be back till next week Tuesday which means I won't be around till then. Me: I would have gone back by then sir. Orire: She's even going back to Lagos tomorrow but you can speak with her now. He was calling his daughter and I could hear the daughter protesting she doesn't want to but her father's wish prevailed. Lola: Hello Yemi Me: Lola right? How are you doing Lola: I'm fine and you? Me: I'm okay, how is life treating you? Lola: Life is good. I heard you just traveled down, how was your journey? Me: It was a great one. Thanks. I wish you safe journey tomorrow Lola: Thanks. Guess we'll see later Me: Yeah, I think so Orire: You'll definitely see, soonest self (he took over the phone). Yemi can you drive? Me: Very well sir, but I don't have drivers license Orire: Why? Go and get one now, I'll send you money now, go and get it tomorrow Me: Tomorrow is Saturday sir, I'm not sure they'll do it and I heard the process is longer than it used to be Orire: They will do it and you should get it by Monday. Go to their office tomorrow, the commander here is my very good friend. I'll call him now so you won't spend much time there. Me: Okay sir Orire: You are going to be needing it soon. When I come back we'll see how we'll go about it. Me: Okay sir, thank you sir. Orire: Give the phone to your mother My mum collect the phone and they continue their discussion. Talking about drivers license, is he planning to get me a car? that will be so cool. But it will raise a question, why do the man love me that much? Hope it's not because of his daughter he's trying to hook me with, because that is likely going hit a dead end. By the way, his daughter seems cool from her speech and has a sweet voice, very similar to that of Funmi, but I'm not going to fall for that, this is 21st century, not their time when they can easily matchmake. I'll love to meet and see how she look though. Mum: Opeyemi you spoke with his daughter right? Me: Yeah, she sound nice Mum: I know you'll like her. You guys will meet later Me: I did not say I like her mum, I said she sound nice Mum: I know, but you'll like her Debby: BB don't you have a girlfriend? Me: Not official Debby: Why not? Me: It's complicated Debby: That's why mum is trying to matchmake you. You better bring her home on time. Mum: It doesn't concern you Deborah. Hope you all enjoy the meal. Dan: It's fantastic. It's been long I eat home made pounded yam like this. They sell it over there at Nigerian restaurants but it wasn't made with mortar like this and that's the difference. Me: You seem to like pounded yam a lot Dan: Very much, it's my best. Me: We seem to have a lot in common. Mum: I'm happy you both get along easily. I want you guys to listen to all I'm about to say. Some of it you know, but majority you don't. And you my dear Opeyemi, I want you to know nothing has change and nothing will change okay? Me: Okay Ma (my heart started racing) Mum: When I was 22 years old and I've got nobody to help me further my education, because my father was sacked from work and as you know, my mother only sells bread. I started working in the bread factory where my mother used to buy bread to sell. The factory was owned by your father (Pointing to to Dan) and that's where I met your father (pointing to Deborah). Your father proposed marriage to me but I was already in love with the factory owner not knowing he's married and they were having child delay. The wife doesn't stay in town then and by the time I discovered he's married, I was already six months pregnant for him and to my greatest surprise, his wife accepted me. I had vowed before then never to be second wife of any man and insisted on that even though I am already pregnant. The factory owner accepted my stance not knowing he had other plans with his wife. When my time came, I delivered a wonderful baby boy which is you (pointing to Dan) the same day and at the same hospital where you and your twin sister were born (pointing to me) * * * This issue is getting real and at this point the strands of hair on my head all stood up as my heart continue to beat faster. *** Mum: Your father (pointing to Deborah) was there in the hospital with the mother of the twins. The father of the twins was his own elder brother which I don't recognize or ever met before. His brother ran away to Ghana with his Ghanaian friend the moment the woman got pregnant. Debby: So what happened mum? Exchange of child? |
