MegaMan2020:

I stick by my statement. He will be reported to Seun if he badmouths Yorubas (like he's beuen known to do in the past) or if he shows favoritism to his tribe (which he always does). As long as he behaves himself and doesn't start thropwing his weight around he should be okay with me.

Please !!
This is just an Internet forum
When I joined nairaland Seun was the only moderator and when moderators came to be Sienna was one and so were OYB and debosky at different times
Today those posters are not in the moderating team for whatever reason but they have continued to contribute to NL when they want to
Moderators have come and gone,it is no big deal and it doesn't diminish anybody .In the same way it doesn't make them superhuman to be on there
That Afam is now a moderator should not cause you this much pain
Don't you folks have other things to focus on in life?
Sheesh
Don't make this bigger than it is

afam4eva: I want to use this opportunity to thank Seun for appointing me a MOD on this volatile section. I also want to appreciate my fellow mods for holding up alone thus far and granting me the chance to work hand in hand with them to improve the idiosyncrasies of this section. And finally i want to thank those that have deemed it fit to congratulate me and even those that resent the very idea of a certain Afam4eva being a mod.

My mission here is a strong aversion to why i was appointed. I may be an Igbo advocate but that will not in anyway come in between my work and i. I'm not here on any ethnic agenda. I'm here to restore sanity. I'm here to push the limit of goodwill like used to be enjoyed on this very section. Never again will this section be known as the trouble making section of Nairaland. Never again will this section be the curse capital of the Nigerian webosphere. Never again.

I shall take it up as a duty to rid off trouble makers and their hateful posts. Tribalists should take their trade elsewhere because market has just closed for them and their business is no longer profitable. Whoever if found wanting shall be punished according to the laid out rules of this forum.

he who has ears let him hear.

Stay out of trouble and stay blessed.

Happy New year everybody

Afam bu Afam

Nice acceptance speech.

My first suggestion to You folks will be to close down the subsection "tribalism"
The description alone tells you it shouldn't be there
Ethnic, Racial, Or Sectarian Politics: Racist, ethnicity-oriented and sectarianist/seccesionist threads will end up here! (3020 topics)

It should have no place in the new nairaland

For what it is worth, congrats to Afam
He has always been one of the coolest heads in the politics section
With the three of you I ask that you give zero tolerance to tribalism starting from this year.
Take NL back to the NL of 2006 and 2007 before the rabid tribalism.

I thought someone boasted that as long as he lived Afam could never be a mod? grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

happy New Year to you all and may this year bring us lots of goodies and may it bring me millions of dollars in JEsus mighty name

Racism in action, nothing to do with their competence for the most part

If our country wasn't this messed up,why won't our doctors stay in Nigeria where they are treated with more dignity
A friend just told she was quitting her job with NHS to go private,I asked why?
She is being targeted

Politics / 16 Nigerian P-i-m-p-s Will Spend New Year In Spanish Jail by babymama3: 2:17am On Jan 01, 2013
MADRID - Spain's Interior Ministry says police have arrested 17 people on suspicion of smuggling Nigerian women into Spain and forcing them into prostitution using threats including claims they would cast Voodoo spells on them if they didn't comply.
An investigation began when police detected in January that around 10 women had been brought into the country illegally using a small boat.
Police said that following an investigation its raids seized computer equipment, mobile phones, false identity and work permit documents, as well as objects which detectives said were allegedly used in "Voodoo rituals."
Officers tracked down the suspected pimps in cities throughout Spain and arrested 16 Nigerian nationals and one Ugandan citizen, a statement released Sunday said. It was not clear when the arrests took place]

taosola: But wait o! Why are all the rich Nollywood Actors and Actresses can not donate JUST 6M for their veteran colleague to take care of her health? Where are the likes of Genevieve nnaji, Omotola Jolade, Funke Akindele, Segun Arinze, RMD, Bukky Wright, Uche Jombo, and a host of others who are very rich? Are these people not capable of 500k each? And yet they can spend thousands and millions on birthday, funerals and showbiz rather than save life of a colleague?
Too bad of them.

thank you!

Enebeli died
Pete Eneh died
Giringory died
David Ihezie died
Others

These are actors who suffered a while before dying
The nollywood actors all stood by
Stella Damasus said the actors where hypocrites in the way they watched Enebeli deteriorate yet they couldn't raise the money needed for Ngozi who has been sick for a while now
C'est la vie

Crayola1: In my opinion all sides are guilty on some level the only thing is the fact that Seun let it get to this insane level is the really bad part. I'm not for total censorship but the way certain threads are made for one purpose (to bash) and then immediately sent on the front page for maximum views says a lot about how this place is run. On some level if the owner ever wants to get to that next level things are going to have to be curtailed, controversy sells but the ironic thing is that few folks want their named tied to smut.

It is almost as though it is deliberate
Threads with criminals with an Igbo name immediately rush to the front page because it will attract the likes of those I have mentioned and the pages rise
The case of Nkiru sylvanus has had at least 3 separate threads grace the front page
Why does Seun allow this
There are tons of crime stories with Yoruba names and others
The same time Nkiru was abducted a Yoruba generals wife was also abducted, how much publicity did that get?
Why this deliberate attempt to tarnish Igbos and feed the vultures?
I need to know
Seun can choose to do something different this 2013 and that includes instructing his moderators on fairness and zero tolerance on tribal baiting
Does he want the place turned into oduduwa land like Some other place became Yoruba village square where old Yoruba men run wild churning out endless articles on their Igbophobia and the rest congregate to feast like vultures, some of them civil war Nigerian soldiers with ogbunigwe lodged in their hips.

You know them by name
They don't hide their venom
Without fail every story that has an Igbo name attracts stupid comments from the following time and time again
Often times the Igbos are forced to respond with equal venom because of what is thrown at them

Why is this allowed to go on?

You start a thread to celebrate Achebe or any Igbo person, they show up
You start one on Ojukwu or Biafra they congregate
You start one on development in Igboland they land like vultures
A thread about Lagos, they move the focus to Igboland
threads that have nothing to do with Igbos are steered to go that direction by these same posters day in day out
Why do you let them?

It is your site Mr Osewa and I know when you started Nairaland this was not your vision.
I know because I joined nairaland in 2006 and it was not this way and at that time you were the only one moderating the site
Today you have moderators on every subsection but the same Yoruba area boys run the show ,some often boasting of the influence they have on the administration.
This 2013,you can decide to rid yourself of these twerps and establish a zero tolerance for tribal baiting across the board.
There are 250 tribes in Nigeria not just a Igbos and Yorubas

I don't know how well the report button works,I will encourage all posters to use it whenever these folks post any Igbo bashing comments as is their stock in trade.

You can decide Mr Osewa to elevate the site to the level you desire and the first step is to rid the place of undesirable elements who constitute themselves a nuisance continually.
I saw the way you squashed the hall of shame, you can in the same manner read out the riot act and enforce that law on ethnic baiting.
You can't change anyone but you can stop them from displaying their stupidity on your site,it is your site, you can enforce that rule on your site
There is a story in the family section about a Yoruba husband abusing his wife,I followed it for pages, not a single poster made mention of the tribe of this animal, that thread is now on the 25th page
Had it be been an Igbo man the likes of dayokanu would have done what they do best
Enough!

Whether you know it or not there are younger Nigerian kids born outside of Nigeria who read these hate words
Do something different this 2013
Weed off the rascals and your site will be the better for it

Thank You and have a happy New year

Politics / Re: Suspected Kidnappers Of Nkiru Sylvanus Paraded, Ransom Recovered by babymama3: 11:20pm On Dec 31, 2012
ypzilanti: Police parade suspected abductors of Nollywood actress, recover ransom

IMO State Police Command Monday at its headquarters in Owerri paraded four suspected kidnappers of Nollywood actress, Nkiru Sylvanus. Sylvanus was abducted on December 16, 2012.

Parading them, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adisa Bolanta, disclosed their names as Okoro Basil, Stella Opara (female), Festus Olegeme and Chijioke Chima.

He said that they were apprehended in Imerienwe, Ngor Opkala, Imo State by a counter-terrorism team led by ASP Cyril Obu, adding that they also recovered the ransom paid to the abductors.

According to him, a 78-year-old woman who kidnappers abducted a few days ago, demanding N20 million, was rescued in Rivers State, while the suspected kidnappers were apprehended. Four persons arrested were paraded while two others escaped.

A Peugeot 406 car used as siren pilot car of an unnamed unauthorised individual, was impounded by the command, he disclosed, adding that the owner would be arraigned in court soon.

Two persons who allegedly abducted the four-year-old daughter of the Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Blyden Amajirionnwu on December 8, 2012, were arrested also. They are Tochukwu Ekeh and Ngozi Ihem, while one escaped with bullet wound, Bolanta said.

A retired police officer, Innocent Duru, was also arrested for attempting to rob on December 29. Four others were also arrested and paraded for robbery.

Twelve others arrested by army officers in Obinze for impersonation and unlawful possession of police uniform and kits, the CP said, were handed over to the command, adding that they would soon appear in court.
