The leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Wamakko and APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Ahmed Aliyu, have denied the rumour that the duo called Governor Aminu Tambuwal on his re-election on Sunday.

In a statement signed by the Chairman, APC Gubernatorial campaign, Alhaji Muhammadu Dingyadi and made available to journalists in Sokoto.

The statement stated: “Both Senator Wamakko and our candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu have not called Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and congratulated him on his victory as maliciously and falsely being circulated on Social Media.”

He explained that the news in circulation is an imagination of some people who lack an understanding of the personality of the duo.

There have been some reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC results interpreter in sign languages for the 2019 election, Peter Oyekale, has been stabbed by unknown assailants.

Peter according to reports, is lying in critical condition in a hospital.

The reason for the stabbing is yet unknown.

A Nigerian man identified as John Odoemenam has fled from Thailand after allegedly killing a jeweler in a Bangkok hotel on Sunday.

John who reportedly uses a fake South African passport with the name, Mzwakhe Memela, has already been declared wanted over the murder of the Thai woman.

Police said Odoemenam was seen in security camera footage leaving the room of Susama Ruenrit, 35, from Kanchanaburi, on Sunday morning. Her lifeless body was later found by a staff.

Hotel receptionist, Payu Srikhung, said he and other staff checked the room at noon on Sunday, after Susama failed to pay her bills. The deceased did not answer the door, so Payu used a spare key and found the body wrapped in a sheet.

She had been hit on the head. Police said the jeweler checked into the hotel at 9.50pm on Saturday before going out and returning at 4am. The security cameras show Odoemenam entering her room at 8am Sunday and leaving at 8.45.

He is seen walking towards the elevator while staring at Susama's room. Police suspect that the suspect went to the room to cut a deal involving jewellery but when negotiations went wrong, he struck and killed her.

He was said to have fled to Hong Kong immediately after committing the crime because he knows the Hong Kong doesn’t have an extradition treaty with Thailand.

The Koma people became recognized as Nigerians in 1961, a year after independence, along with the old provinces of Northern Cameroon. Today Koma is part of the seven districts of Ganye local government in Adamawa State.

Koma is a relatively primitive hill-dwelling ethnic group in Northern Adamawa, in the Atlantika Mountains, which shares a border with Southern Cameroun. Hill-dwellers are spread through the South and South-West of these mountains, including many on the Cameroonian side.

There are 21 Koma villages in the Cameroonian side of the Alantika Mountains and 17 villages on the Nigerian side.

The Koma have their own language, known as Koma, with an estimated 61,000 speakers. It is a member of the Niger–Congo language group.

They are committed to their traditional culture. The men wear loincloths and women wear fresh leaves. Koma men are much more receptive to wearing of contemporary clothes than the women.

The belief still holds firmly that if women wear clothes, they would incur the wrath of the gods with visitation of either death or barrenness.

When the government authorities made it mandatory in some markets for people to put on clothes, the women would put cloth wrappers over the leaves only in the market, and remove them on their way back to the hills.

As a mark of acceptance and friendship, a Koma man may share his wife with friends, especially visitors.

Among the Komas, a twin birth is regarded as evil, and twins are considered abominable so much so that until recently babies of multiple births used to be buried alive with the women who had the 'misfortune' of being their mothers.

This obnoxious practice of twins killing is out of vogue among Komas who dwell on the plains, but in the out-of-the-way settlements on the hills, the ancient practice still thrives without obstruction.

A lady was allegedly assaulted by a bus driver for reportedly refusing to date him. According to an online report, the man tried to woo the lady but she turned him down which allegedly provoked him.

The rejected bus driver allegedly beat the woman and left her with injuries all over her body.

The wounded woman who was taken to the hospital for treatment, notified the Due Process Advocates (DPA) which has promised to take up the case and bring the man to justice.

Below is what was shared online.

The case of the lady who refused to date a bus driver, was actually beaten by the man. Investigation shows the incident happened. The man was annoyed that she said no. He said that he would not take no for an answer. DPA has a serious concern here. Why should a woman fear that if she refuses to sleep with a man, he could beat her up, which is an alternative way to rape her? So, we are taking this very seriously.

He made this known in a recent interview published by Native, where he stated that Iyanya left the label the same week his wife left. Speaking with Joey Akan, he said;

A Nigerian man decided to share his chilling experience after spending four years in Russia’s Yakutia, which hosts the coldest village on Earth.

Mark Babatunde who is now enjoying his life in Yakutia, which he now calls home, shared his experience online, calling his blog: “The Northest African in the World.”

According to RT, Mark met a Yakutian girl, Natalia, when he studied in China and decided to perform a northward journey with her.Mark confessed to journalists that he was shocked when he arrived. “The cold was the worst thing. I wasn’t used to living like the people do here,” he said.

Three Nigerian poachers were arrested in Niger with a massive haul of slaughtered game from W National Park which straddles the borders of Niger, Burkina Faso and Benin, officials said Sunday.

Forestry agents discovered elephant tusks, giant snake skins and the carcasses or heads of various animals including buffalos and monkeys loaded into two vans in Niger’s southwestern Dosso region bordering the park, a statement said.

They also seized a dozen hunting rifles, machetes, six bicycles and various chemical substances, it said.

Dosso state governor Moussa Ousmane praised the operation as “an unprecedented… exploit for our agents”.

The park, a UN World Heritage site covering some 10,000 square kilometres (nearly 4,000 square miles), contains a vast wealth of fauna and is an important migration sanctuary.
